Book Selections for Erin's 6.0 Challenge

It took me daaayyyyysss to generate selections for the categories of Erin's Book Challenge 6.0.  I wish I was kidding, but I take this challenge (and reading) very seriously.  It didn't take me nearly as long to narrow down my selections to 1 or 2 books for each category, much to my surprise.

5 points: Freebie – Read a book that is at least 200 pages.

These are the 4 audiobooks that I currently have on Audible that I haven't listened to that aren't Outlander books.  Please note, 2 of these are WW2 books.  Predictable much?  Yes, yes I am.

10 points: Read a book that starts with the letter “W”.

Selected from my to-be read list (TBR).  Gotta whittle that sucker down somehow.

10 points: Read a book with six words in the title.

Scouring the TBR list, some of these came up.  Others I ran across during other searches.

15 points: Read a book that has a (mostly) green cover.

This was the most difficult selection.  Argh!  I'm halfway through Voyager (Outlander #3), which is green.  I finished Burying the Honeysuckle Girls and The Last Anniversary, which are mostly green, after I completed the previous challenge.  Please note that I'm a stickler and the cover had to be green, green.  Not teal, not blue-green, not "well, maybe that could pass for green if I turn up my screen warmth"... Only actual GREEN would do.

20 points: Read a book with a homonym in the title

I actually returned this ebook to the library since I hadn't started it yet, so I can check it out again in a month or so to read.

20 points: Read a book by your favorite author.

I don't think I have a favorite author, so I skimmed my read list for authors that frequently showed up.

25 points: Read a book set in the city/town/state/territory/county/province where you live.

I live in Charleston, SC.  I figured that wouldn't be too difficult.  While I know that Pat Conroy is a local legend, I enjoyed The Secret Lives of Bees so much that Kidd was my preference.

30 points: Read a “Rory Gilmore” book.

My first glimpse at the provided list was rather scary.  Once I actually read through it, it wasn't so bad after all.

30 points: Read a book from a genre that you’ve never read (or rarely read.)

I knew when I saw this one that Notorious RBG would be my pick.  I selected a backup, just in case, but I doubt I will need it.  I rarely read autobiographies, preferring my WW2 world.

35 points: Read a book with time travel.

I already own this book on Audible (thanks for that series sale), so this was an easy selection.  I remember back when I was hesitant on reading Outlander.. and here I am, committing myself to not only read book 4 after the challenge starts, but to complete book 3 (I have no less than 20 hours left) prior to the challenge starting.

  1. Nice choices! There's a part of me that wants to do this, I think I lied to myself once & said I was going to do a previous one but definitely didn't. I do have a library card now which would make it easier... I'm also only on book 6 of a 12 book series though & definitely want to finish that first...

  2. Some awesome choices! If you read Angus Thongs and full frontal I must know what you think!

  3. I was invited to the Goodreads group for this...I may do it. Having trouble finding one for the Homonym challange...stuff like that is why I don't normally participate in these kinds of things! But I do like that it helps give me some direction with my TBR.

I don't have a favorite author either, btw.

  4. What a fun challenge!! I might have to so something similar. I JUST finished The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society last night and I loved it!!! The Invention of Wings is also wonderful. I've read Curious Incident of Dog in the Night and can't remember what it was about. The Peach Keeper is decent and I also enjoy JoJo Moyes. We need to be buddies on Goodreads!!!

  5. As you may or may not have seen already, The Secret Life of Bees was my first book read, and it was just such a beautiful gem of a book. I will definitely be interested in reading more from Sue Monk Kidd.
I love your passion for this challenge :)
