Weekend Review {9/3}

FRIDAY

I got in some miles on Friday morning AND I ran (hahah) into another runner along my way.  I also tested out running in the neighborhood across the street since my original running path has become a real hazard since they opened up the road and there are no sidewalks....  After school in the AM, then I headed home after class for lunch and a conference call.  That call had me ready to break shit (because it lasted WAY longer than it should have AND they kept "rehashing" the same shit over and over and over).  When it finally ended, it was time to pack and GTFO of Charleston.

SO MUCH ROOM FOR ACTIVITIES!!!
Like napping and staying awake to make sure the driver doesn't kill us (in Meri's case).

We made it to Teh Dad's house around 7, after some Charlotte traffic snafus.  After getting everything moved in and doggy dinner served, we headed out to Ruby Tuesday for dinner.  I probably would have picked somewhere else, but Charleston has made me a snob.  I recognize this.

After dinner, we made a stop by the grocery store for beer and then we headed home to check on the beasts and make smores.

Due to the fact that Teh Dad feels that fires should always be BONFIRES, rather than just a small, let's keep warm/keep the bugs away/cook things on it fire, I couldn't get my marshmallows to toast properly because the fire was too hot AND my arms aren't very long, so I was afraid my eyebrows were going to get singed off.

I finally called it a night around 11:30 and left Teh German and Teh Dad to do whatever manly shit they chose to do without female supervision.

Let me explain this photo.  What had happened wasssss....  It gets warm in the basement if the upstairs isn't set to approximately the temperature of the Arctic and since it wasn't set to that temp and there was a fan in the floor, I decided to take it upon myself to create a "ceiling fan".  When Teh German showed Teh Dad Saturday, you could tell from his facial expressions that he was rather impressed with my ingenuity.  Like, maybe even, "Why didn't I think of that?"

I have no idea what time Teh German finally came to bed because I was wearing earplugs and DNGAF because I was tired.

SATURDAY

We didn't really have a mission on Saturday.. and then we finally decided to go to Blowing Rock to tourist around for a bit.

Lunch (and beer) at Blowing Rock Brewery

After lunch was Kilwins!!!

I've always wanted to go to the Blowing Rock Library and finally did.

Also, my friend and I read together.

Without anything else to do, we headed back down the mountain to hang out with the dogs until it was time to go hang gliding.

💓

Soooo we went hang gliding!

Teh German flyin'

I'm actually pointing to the plane that was pulling him up, but he is right above that.

And then it was my turn.

After Teh German, myself, and Teh Dad had our first hang gliding "lesson", we decided to be spontaneous and head to Antioch Speedway since we'd all seen the qualifying laps going on while we'd been up in the air.  We opted to have dinner at the track rather than go home and cook.

Teh German has really come to like racing.  We finally made it home around midnight from the race.  It was like the races that never ended.  We did see someone get disqualified for going backwards on the track (while other cars were still racing) and then they proceeded to stop in the pit area of the car that had wrecked with/because of the driver and then there was a pit crew member punching the disqualified driver in the face.. it all escalated quickly.. just like redneck racing should.  It was like racing with wrecks AND hockey with the punching.  Crazy.  PS.  The disqualified driver was wearing a helmet so the face punching seemed like a pretty bad idea.

SUNDAY

Sunday morning, we woke up, Teh German took care of the dogs while I showered and then while he showered, I packed our bags and we were on our way back home by 10:30.  Willow really is awesome with her self-driving abilities and with all the room in the back, it was a much more enjoyable trip for everyone.

stoner dog.

We made it home around 3 and I continued doing the homework that I had been doing in the car.  When I was in the kitchen putting together a dinner, the dogs didn't even bother to harass me they were so tired, and it was past their dinner time!  It was crazy!

Unfortunately for me, Teh German has really gotten into racing (I probably did this to myself), which meant that we spent the evening watching the Darlington race on Sunday evening and I was up way later than I should have been since I had class on Monday morning.

MONDAY

I should have ran, but I wasn't feeling it since I'd gotten to bed so late.  Instead, I snoozed my alarm and then slept through it, but still was up by 0715.  Then I decided to ride Bagheera, which meant I saved even more time by skipping a shower.  ANNNDDD there was almost no traffic getting to downtown.  *praise hands*

After class, I came home, since there was no work.  I offered to watch Baby RR while Mom and Dad took a nap, but I was turned down.  It was pretty disappointing because I haven't seen Baby RR since she was born.  Instead, I took a nap... and so did the dogs.  Teh German spent the majority of his day working in the garage on his Bobber (motorcycle) project.

After my nap, I headed to Walmart to pick up some house/grocery items and then came back home to put everything away and work on some homework.  Teh PT Kid and Teh PT Wife came over to print out some homework for Teh PT Kid.  I continued doing homework.

Dinner was bison wraps (a random item that I found at Walmart) and then it was more homework time.  I did also manage to accomplish all the laundry AND got it ALL put away.  BOOM.  When I went to get ready for bed, I ended up having to do my first ever plumbing exercise after losing an earring back down the sink.

In good news, I was able to take care of the issue myself.  In bad news, I touched something slimy and will probably need to amputate up to the elbow.  Teh German came upstairs after me and STILL made it to bed before me.  I'm forever bitter about these things, especially because he ALWAYS falls asleep first.  ALWAYS.  #MarriedWoes

______________________________________________

Overall, a pretty fantastic weekend.  Fortunately, the dogs didn't destroy anything while they were unsupervised, which is always a good time.  Hang gliding was a lot like riding a bike (speed wise) except you're just up in the air.  I feel like being pull up behind a plane is infinitely better than cliff jumping... from my limited experience.

The most exciting purchase of the weekend was the new pun postcards I picked up.  Seriously, if you ever visit Blowing Rock, make sure to go into the Neaco store.  Soooo much fun stuff in there and the guys that run the place (who you will see behind the counter) are super fun and friendly!

This week includes:
-birthday dinner for a neighbor tonight
-hopefully discovering a new running path
-the 2nd to last Honeymoon blog
-a massage on Friday
-gettin' my hairs did on Saturday
-trips to the gym to punch shit
-reading the Ilona Andrews ebook I downloaded for Erin's Challenge.
-homework
-maybe some audiobook and puzzle

My online class is using a book that was printed in 2015, and the software we have to use for assignments no longer has online support, which means that the instructor is having to assign other homework options for people who can't figure out the software.  I'm sad and glad about this because the software is/was painful to deal with.

I found a partner for my circuits class who is a super smart kid, but has very limited time to meet to do projects (he's taking 21 credit hours and his advisor made him withdraw from the class that would have put him at 24 hours).  That's fine with me as long as we don't get shitty grades.

I'm going to have to study for German this year, which is sad but fine.  I'm no longer the #1 student, which is also fine.  Takes the pressure off of me not to be the only one who participates.  I seriously wonder what I'd have to juggle to be able to do a study abroad in Germany.  Like how cool would that be?!?!  Teh German could come and visit me!

It's finally September, Gentle Readers!  I'd say that means it's fall, but it's not because I live in the South and it will take a hurricane or Halloween to get some "cold" weather around these parts.  There's 3/4 storms currently lined up in the Atlantic, soooo we'll seeeeeeeee.. For now, it's time to pull out my sudafed and advil to mitigate incoming #BarometerHead issues.

Weekend Review {8/8}

FRIDAY

We slept in on Friday and it was glorious.  Teh German had taken a vacation day so we could head to NC early.  We got up slow and I showered and called in for my 0900 meeting.  After Teh German attached the trailer to Yurtle and loaded Suzi on the trailer, he showered and we were out the door.

While cleaning Suzi the night before, Teh German realized his license plate was 2 months expired.  Oops.  We are very good about staying on top of the bills, so I couldn't figure out what had happened and since it was after business hours, I told him that we could just swing by the tax office on the way to NC and see what was up.  We learned that the DMV had dropped the ball and never sent the stickers.  So we headed to the DMV with a copy of the receipt of the payment that had been made in May.  The DMV explained that the tax office hadn't charged for the license plate that is required every 2 years.  $10 later and enduring a little bit of sass from the lady that helped us, we had a new place and correct stickers for Suzi and Teh German was ready to ride.

By this point it was already past my lunch time and I suggested we go to Which Wich in Summerville before finally hitting the road.  I could feel the hangar overtaking me.  I really wanted to get on the road, but I also didn't want a food headache.  We had planned to stop for amazing crepes in High Point, but I knew I couldn't wait that long.

At lunch, I used the free wifi and did more work and sent my daily email.  After work and lunch was completed, we finally started the journey to NC.  When we hit traffic outside of Charlotte, I told Teh German that we could get crepes on Sunday so we could avoid the traffic.  We took a detour and finally made it to Home, Home around 5.  We dropped off the trailer and headed to Teh Granny's house to pick up ladders that Teh Mom had said we could have.  Turns out, the ladders weren't at Teh Granny's but one of my Uncle's house.  Instead, we socialized with Teh Granny and I picked all the lint off her throw blanket.  We left after I received a text from Teh Dad that "dinner is on the grill."  Passive-aggressive is a skill we definitely flourish in.

Teh German and I headed back to Teh Dad's house for dinner.  Teh Dad had picked up doughnuts from Krispy Kreme for me on his way home from work.  I was having a craving.  Sadly, he didn't understand the photo I sent (with numbers beside the photo of the doughnut) and they didn't have the doughnut I really wanted, but we survived.  After dinner, I introduced everyone to Mexican Train Dominoes.  I won twice and Teh Stepmom won once.  I ending up winning overall and Teh Stepmom lost after having draw almost all the tiles in the boneyard.

After the game, it was bedtime since Saturday was going to be a long day for everyone.

SATURDAY

We got up at 7 on Saturday morning so we could be in Boone to have breakfast with Teh WJL at 0830.  We were out the door at 0735 and headed through the fog.  Teh German was on Suzi and I led the way in Yurtle.  I called him so we could chat on our way up the mountain.  We were both very happy when the fog lifted when we got about halfway up the mountain.

We had breakfast at Sunrise Grill, which was really tasty.  Teh WJL gave me a new StoryPeople print that accurately describes our friendship.  I made a painfully good choice with the Mountain Man breakfast.  I overate, but I wasn't sure when the next meal would be, so it worked out perfectly.  Teh German left Teh WJL and I so he could get on with his ride and we socialized for a bit.  Teh WJL needed a new SD card, so we went hunting for one at Big Lots.  Unintentionally, I found mirrors that I purchased and I also stopped by a coffee shop, as if the 3 cups of sweet tea would not be enough caffeine for me.  We headed to the site where the bride was getting ready after acquiring an SD card.

We arrived around 11:15 and I started shooting flowers and people getting ready.  The bride arrived soon after and started organizing things.  While the bride showered, we headed to the site down the street and got some shots of the site.  We ran into the groom at the site and I grabbed the rings from him to get photos of while we waited.  When we got back, the bride was getting her hairs and makeups did.  There's only so many candid shots one can take, so I grabbed the bouquet and took some ring shots.  Teh WJL and I had some adventures with nature and potential poison oak/ivy, but the shots were worth it.

When we got back inside, the bride was finally getting her dress on.  Sometimes, a camera gives you special access.  For instance, this day, I got to see a stranger in her bra and underwear.  Again, I think the photos were worth it.  With the bride ready, we got some shots of just her.  Then it was time to head down to the site.  Teh WJL and I divided up so she could get the groom/groomsmen and I could get the bride/bridesmaids walking in.  The officiant had chatted with us on the way down to the site to essentially say, "Stay out of the way."  I wasn't planning on being conspicuous, but don't challenge me.

I tried my best to stay out of the way, but because of the way the stage was set up, it was difficult to get photos that weren't from an angle where you could see up everyone's noses.  The pastor did try to nod me off the stage, buttttt I'm Teh Megan and that doesn't really work for me.  Lesson: I need a telephoto lens.  They only cost about $1000+, so if anyone wants to contribute to the lens fund.. it's open for donations.  Apparently, the pastor actually told Teh WJL to get off the stage.  Rude.  Whatevs.

Eventually, the ceremony was over and the bride and groom took off for some private time.  I looked for them to photograph them while they weren't paying attention, but they were deep in hiding.  When they came back, it was time for family and wedding party photos.  I kept threatening the groom with my cheesy jokes if he didn't smile.  I tried to break up the monotony with silly photos, but everyone was so serious, it was difficult.

After the majority of the photos were taken, the bride and groom set off into the crowd.  The original goal was to get photos with grandmother, but it took a while for the bride and groom to make it across the sea of people.  Eventually, we had to pull them away from their guests to get photos.  Bride's sister was incredibly helpful at redirecting the bride and groom and force feeding the bride.  It took a while, but group photos were organized for the bride and groom's school groups.  Finally, we had to pull them away again to get couple shots.  It was difficult, and I was starting to feel like a bitch because I was overly hot and dehydrated (they ran out of water), and I wanted to make sure MY job was done.

Lesson: First look is required.  ALL the photos should be completed BEFORE the ceremony.  I feel like this would have made the reception more enjoyable for the bride and groom because people wouldn't have been pulling them all over the place to take photos.

I think they actually bumped up their kayak departure so we, the photographers, could leave.  The majority of the guests had left already (I'd assume due to lack of shade) so it was a smallish send off.  While they were getting their kayak in the water, I slipped in the mud and almost landed in the river.  My immediate thoughts were: 1- I can't get hurt!  Disney in less than a month!  2- Oh fuck!  My camera!  #priorties  At least I didn't say "OH FUCK!" in front of all those extremely religious people.  #praiseJesus

After the couple was out of sight, I rinsed the mud off my feet, and Teh WJL and I headed out, exhausted.  My toe was absolutely killing me, throbbing painfully with every breath I took.  This weekend gave me an entirely new grateful perspective for air conditioner.  After dropping Teh WJL off at her car, I headed down the mountain.

On Friday night, it had been decided that we'd all go to Antioch Speedway so Teh German could experience dirt track racing.  Teh Dad had rushed through his work so he could come home at a decent time to get to the race track ASAP.  I arrived home about 10 minutes before he did, despite being about 15 minutes behind him going down the mountain.  #speedracer

After a quick dinner, we headed to Antioch.  Sadly, we were there for less than 30 minutes before the rain started.  Within 20 minutes, almost everyone had left and while I stayed in the car (seriously, my toe hurt), everyone else set out to find out if the race was cancelled.  It was.  Everyone, me included, was disappointed.  We wanted to share the "redneck" with Teh German.  I'm planning on calling the owner of the track at some point this week to explain the situation that we're from out of town and we were told we could use our bands to get into the race the next weekend, but we won't be there.  We'll see what he says, but hopefully we can work something out so we can go a different weekend that we will actually be Home, Home.

We headed back home, disappointed and I called early bedtime.  Before I got into bed, I took some pain pills for my toe and had Teh German fetch me an ice pack so I could put it on my toe.  I actually laid in bed and finished the last 30 minutes of my book before finally calling it a night.

SUNDAY

We got up Sunday morning around 930 and started getting ready.  Right as we were about to go upstairs, Teh Dad called to say breakfast was ready.  Yes, yes, he called me from upstairs.  Teh Stepmom had made eggs and bacon and sausage and livermush and toast and it was a good start to the day.  After breakfast, we loaded Yurtle up and headed to my uncle's house to retrieve a ladder.  I hadn't seen my cousin since I left for the navy (Nov 2008-now, you do the math it's too hard for me).  This is the cousin who is my clone.  When we walked in, my uncle said, "Have you seen your 16 year old twin?"  It was seriously like looking at myself.  CLONES.

I was really wanting to get on the road, so I pushed to get the ladder taken care of.  We went outside and Teh German tied a ladder to the roof rack on Yurtle instead of putting it on the trailer with Suzi.  We chatted for a few minutes, but it was hot out and I was ready to accomplish our drive.

I was driving since I knew the way around Home, Home.  I drove all the way to High Point to the crepe place.  In Statesville, I almost reconsidered and just went straight home instead of going to get crepes, but I really have been wanting that crepe, so I just powered through the extra hour of driving.  We switched drivers at the crepe place and Teh German drove the final 4 hours of the journey.  He was irritated at me that the drive was taking so long, I was irritated at him that we hadn't left sooner.  By the time we hit 26, we were fine.  We decided on picking up Mellow Mushroom for dinner on the way in since it was a 5 minute detour.

When we got home, we released the beasts and then everyone had dinner at the same time.  After dinner, I went inside to see what all the packages were on the counter.  I discovered that Teh German's anniversary present had arrived early!  The dog tag silencers had also arrived, so I gave him those and the dog's collars to keep him occupied while I got his gift ready.  I hadn't made the hockey collage because I had to order a shadowbox deep enough to hold the hockey puck, it had also arrived in the packages.  Once the collage was created, the puck put in the frame, and the jersey and frame were wrapped, I brought the bag downstairs.  Teh German was outside, unloading Suzi from the trailer.

When Suzi was unloaded and the boxes of stuff that I need to go through from Teh Dad's house were put on the trailer, we brought the rest of the stuff from the car inside.  When we got inside, I suggested we take a break and said Teh German should check the bag.  He hadn't realized that it was his anniversary gift until I told him.  At first he grabbed for the frame and I told him to open the other package first.  He was SUPER pumped about the jersey and tried it on right away.  Of course, it fit like a tent, as we knew would be the case.  Then I told him to open the other package.  At first he didn't realize whose autograph was on the puck, but when I told him, he was excited all over again.  He did notice the signature was smudged, and I explained it could have been 2 sweaty pockets that caused that.  I also told him exactly when I had gotten the puck was when I sent him away to throw stuff in the trash at the Fan Fest the weekend prior.

After gifts were opened, I cleaned up the counter and we unpacked the rest of the stuff from the trip.  By this point it was 8:30, so we did some social media-ing and I uploaded photos to my computer from the wedding.  I had a minor heart attack when I couldn't find the 865 photos from my camera because my computer had misplaced them.  I had been praising Windows 10 and apparently, that was a life mistake.  As soon as I said good things, the Microsoft demons must have heard me and now my computer is all kinds of acting up.  Le siiiiigh.

At 9, I was frustrated and overly tired and it was bedtime.  It was still 10pm before I actually got in the bed after getting ready for bed and cleaning up and doing a bit of laundry.  Le siiigh.  So much sleepy.

______________________________________________

Overall, an excellent weekend.  It didn't rain like everyone had expected, so the outside wedding was unaffected and Teh German got to get his ride on.  I finally got my crepe (it wasn't as delicious as the first time (I think because the lady didn't want to go back and get more sweet cream, boo)).  I got to hang out with Teh WJL, which was extra fabulous.

This week includes trying not to exacerbate my toe soreness, a dentist appointment for my 6 month cleaning, laziness, Disney planning, photo revisions, and generally trying to stay cool.

PS.  My toe still hurts.

1. Dat flip flop tan line
2.  I don't have fungus, that's stain from a green polish.
3.  The 2nd toe on the right is a bruised little sausage.

Weekend Review {4/18}

FRIDAY

Despite my heavy workload, I still left early on Friday because hours.  Teh German had reserved a trailer for us since we had decided on Wednesday to make a trip up to NC to ride.  Since I got off early, I headed to pick it up, stopping at Metto on the way because I was nearby-ish.  Ok, fine, I went that way on purpose, but it was only 5 minutes out of the way.  Don't judge me.

Ya'll, I bought skinny jeggings.
Hell hath frozen over.

The pick-up only took a few minutes, which was a stark contrast to to the last time when I drove all over Charleston trying to fetch a stupid trailer.  I headed back home and managed to back the trailer into the driveway with minimal issues.  I started packing and then got distracted and ended up putting my palmetto tree sticker on my car and went on a treasure hunt to find the dog stickers I purchased at GIG last year.  I realized I was wasting get ready time and finally gave up.. I also realized the stickers were probably buried under a bunch of crap in a closet and I wasn't prepared for that kind of digging.

When Teh German came home, we loaded up Mike and Suzi on the trailer and while he finished tying them down, I did the dishes for him.  We packed and headed out by 6.  We made it to the mountains around 11:30, which isn't too bad considering we stopped at Bojangles for dinner.

SATURDAY

We got up at 8ish so we could get breakfast and get down the mountain for haircuts.  We stopped at a little shop called The River Dog and Teh German kept saying we needed to add an 's' to all the titles of the shop so it would be like The Charleston River Dogs (the local AA baseball team).  After breakfast, we took the Parkway (that'd be the Blue Ridge Parkway for the non-locals) to get to 321 so we could get down the mountain.  We didn't have all the switch back curves like Teh German is so fond of, but we did see some awesome views.  I told Teh German that we'd have to ride back up the Parkway on Sunday so I could stop and get some photos.  He agreed after I told him that we'd go back 221, which is the super curvy road he likes.

We made it right on time for haircuts with Paula.  Teh German got to go first since he had a Skype date scheduled with his friends in Germany.  After getting our hairs did, we stopped by Fort Defiance to say hi and get some photos.

We headed back to Teh WJL's house via 181, which is probably Teh German's 2nd favorite curvy road.  We coordinated with Teh Dad and Teh Stepmom to all go to dinner together at Woodlands BBQ in Boone.  When Teh German and I arrived, we decided to take a short nap.  I didn't mean to sleep as long as I did, but it was for the best.  Eventually we headed to Boone to meet Teh Dad and Teh Stepmom.

There was some drama at dinner, to include some Megan tears, but I tried to move on after apologies were given.  The food was meh and Teh German reminded me that we can't compare food not in Charleston to food in Charleston.  Oops.  After dinner, we headed to Kilwin's for dessert because we make good life choices.  We ate our ice creams/desserts while watching Megan (that was the girl's name) make fudge.  It was a pretty intense process.  She was laughing at our comments, which I can only hope was making her fudge making easier.  Around 9ish, we were all tired and we decided to head home.

SUNDAY

Since it was dollar days at Grandfather Mountain, Teh German agreed to go visit and Teh WJL went with us.  $3 entry vs $20 is way worth it.  We planned on going on a ride after we got back from Grandfather, but I no longer needed to hit the Parkway for photos after getting photos at Grandfather.  We ended up nixing the ride and decided instead to have a slow morning.

CRITTER IN THE ROAD!!
It was just a groundhog.

Selfies!

mile-high swinging bridge

As if we need practice for silly selfies.

You 'member when Forest Gump is running down that really curvy road?
Well, that road happens to be Grandfather Mountain's driveway.

After Grandfather, we headed back to Teh WJL's house for breakfast.  We loaded up the bikes then went inside.  I helped with breakfast, teaching Teh WJL about baking bacon, while Teh German helped Teh Kenyan with some video game translations that were in German.  Breakfast was had, then we packed up Yurtle and headed out to accomplish the 5 hour drive back to Charleston.  Teh German had been texting with someone selling a trailer and we agreed to meet him around 7, so we had a reason to get home rather early.

Teh German and I finally finished All the Bright Places, which was super depressing, and I started reading another book (I can't remember the actual title) outloud to him.  PS. reading outloud is exhausting.  I also did puzzles for a while as we finished the audiobook/radio surfed.  Eventually we made it back home, right as Teh SC Greyhound Neighbor was leaving our house (she had watched Meri and Phil for us).  We unloaded Mike and Suzy and unpacked Yurtle.  I took a quick shower, then we were off again to return the trailer and meet the trailer seller-dude.

I had a meltdown trying to back in the trailer when Teh German started laughing at me and we both blamed hangar, but I also said that if he situation was reversed, he'd be just as pissed at me.  He ended up backing the trailer into a parking spot.  Trailer-less, we headed to the mall to meet the stranger with the trailer.  There were some issues (a light cover was busted, the wiring was wonky, no title), so we offered $400 for it, and he accepted when he saw a wad of cash in Teh German's hand.  Who says money doesn't talk?

Creepy seagull at the Citadel Mall photobombed me.

Since we were already there, we had Sesame for dinner, since there was chicken in the fridge for lunch.  We both mixed it up and got something different than we normally do.  I got wings and Teh German got the pork cuban, choices we did not regret one bit.

I sat and observed the bartender (who happened to be our server) do things that were completely normal, but totally gross.  Like throw away empty cans, remove dirty dishes/glasses from the bar, handle someone's credit card, handle several of the plastic check trays, open a bottle of beer with her bottle opener that was in her back pocket, then shove a lime into someone's Corona.  Really, I just didn't want her anywhere near my food.  Finally, we paid and left and when we got home, apparently everyone on our street had somewhere to go... while I was trying to back the trailer into the driveway.  Oh yeah, and the hoodlums next door insisted on riding their bikes past my car as I was attempting to do this.  After the 3rd car, I put Yurtle in park, and flipped out saying that Teh German could back it in since apparently everyone needs to leave now and I was frustrated and there were even people in the street!  He tried to reassure me that I could do it, but I was done.  I am aware I can do it, I back a trailer in on Friday afternoon, but that was also not having to reset myself more than 5 times or with an audience who I could injure.

Of course, Teh German backed that stupid thing in on the first try.  Le sigh.  Once we got the trailer in, we headed inside to get ready for bed where I discovered there was no more leftovers in the house and instead of dealing with it, we just went to bed.  We were asleep by 9pm.  #oldpeople

_______________________________________________

Teh German had suggested going to NC to ride as a way for me to relax on Wednesday.  I admitted to him on Saturday night that riding wasn't super relaxing for me.  My inner legs start to hurt, it makes my hands go numb and my elbows ache, and I'm still unbearably paranoid that I'm going to go down in a curve because I'm never going to be super confident on a bike.  I think that's the price of going down during your first week of riding.  Really, relaxing for me would have been not going out at all, but I know that if we'd have stayed in Charleston, that wouldn't have happened.  Also, going to NC meant getting to hang out with Teh WJL, which is relaxing for me.  I had fun, but honestly, it wasn't a super relaxing trip for me.  There probably isn't going to be much relaxing between now and June 20th to be completely honest.

We keep a pretty full socializing/event schedule, which is mostly my fault.  I do enjoy hanging out with our group of friends, but at the same time, I also need some me time to unwind and sit on my couch without pants on and to pet and snuggle and nap with my dogs.  That was actually my plan for this past weekend, but how do I say no to a trip to the mountains where I get to visit my Bestie?  I just need to close on House, get moved, finish my DuoLingo German lessons, get to DC and to Germany, and maybe not have a mental breakdown all the while.

I got this.
