Weekend Review {4/6}

I could have made time on Friday to post, but I didn't.  #SorryNotSorry

FRIDAY

I got up with Teh German so I could get some shit accomplished in the AM.  Teh PT Wife and I headed to Sam's so we'd be there when they opened.  I finally managed to acquire some chicken, we had none, but there was a limit of 1 pack.. so at least I have 3 meals worth from the 1 pack since these chicken breasts came from Godzilla chickens.

We got in line at 5 minutes till opening time...
You can't even see the door from this point.
As soon as they opened, all social distancing went to shit.

After Sam's we made a pit stop at Krispy Kreme, because obviously that is a necessity.

Then we headed back home.  I did some work things and enjoyed socializing with my coworkers for Friday Beer Lunch on Zoom.  After the meeting ended, I headed over to Teh PT House for socializing since I felt like I was in the way since the cleaner was at the house.

Fun fact, if you ever wonder why nothing grows but weeds in our yard, please see the below photo for reasons why:

Exhibit A: RED CLAY FOR DAYS.

This photo is of a future pool, but I felt like it validated so many things about why I hate gardening.  Maybe if I could get shit to actually grow I wouldn't hate it so much, buttttttttt this is what I'm contending with.  Anddd if you click on that photo, you'll see that there is no "good" dirt at the top for growing things.. Just red clay.  Know what doesn't stimulate growth of anything?  Red fucking clay.  End rant.

Anyways, the rest of the afternoon/evening was spent enjoying outside and enjoying adult beverages.  It had been planned to get Chinese for dinner, but ALL of the Chinese places are closed.  After calling 5 places and getting no answer, we gave up and finally succumbed to Mexican for dinner, which Teh PT Husband picked up.

After Teh German got off work, he came over for socializing... and then he was called back into work for an emergency, which succcckkkeed.  We went over to Roux's House to check out the new screened-in porch for a while and to spread our Rona to the neighbors.

Eventually, we headed home which coincided with Teh German's arrival back home, conveniently.  Shortly after, it was bedtime since Saturday was productive day.

SATURDAY

We had a semi-slow start on Saturday, but it had been decided that we would 100% hang the rest of the shit on Saturday so that way the house was completely put back together.  You see, this was a real commitment because 1- it involved Teh German and I working together on something (always a struggle), 2- neither of us really wanted to do it (even though we both wanted it done).

For the most part, I managed to mitigate Teh German and I actually working on the same thing at the same time.  I had him do separate hanging things while I cleaned off all the frames for the living room (the other frames had already been cleaned, but I hadn't hung them yet) and then started work on the living room gallery wall.

Teh German managed the kitchen/dining room hanging and then when I'd ask for opinions on where to put frames, he'd give me his opinion.  I started out trying to replicate the gallery wall that we had before, but it didn't workout and it's fine.  It was giving me anxiety trying to replicate it, so I finally just overcame that problem and had Teh German help me with placement... and with handing me things.  I was up and down the step-stool a millionty time and I hope I reached my step goal.  Considering I did a half marathon on Thursday afternoon, my legs were sore and going up/down made me want to die on the inside, sooo if my goal wasn't met, I still consider it met, kthx.

Final positioning of the bedroom frames
andddd some mishaps (broken frame because cheap and a scuff on the wall, of fucking course).

Our neighborhood finally joined the cool kids and we had 2 food trucks serving dinner on Saturday evening.  Johnny Poppers (burgers) and Holy Roller (ice cream), count me in!  Apparently, towards the end, the cops were called because of a "gathering", which seems kinda shitty, but not surprising with the people in our neighborhood.  Most everyone was maintaining their social distancing, but whatever.

After dinner, Teh German headed out to go socialize and I stayed home to finish hanging the last few things.  After I was done, I headed to the computer for some online Cards Against Humanity with Teh Bestie and some others.  Unfortunately, my computer and I weren't on speaking terms, literally, as my mic wasn't being picked up and no sound was coming from my laptop, despite everything having tested perfectly on Wednesday AND my conference call on Friday afternoon working at 100%.  Siiiigh.  I spent an hour troubleshooting that, ended up installing a Windows update and deleting all of my sound devices and restarting so it would reinstall them automatically.  After frustrated tears, everything finally worked, even though I was an hour late to the game, despite having been ready 30 minutes prior to start time.  Le siiiiiigh.

Teh German came home while we were still playing, so we pulled him into the game and we sat on the couches on our laptops and played CAH with friends and listened to some jams.  Overall, it was a productive day, despite the frustrations.

SUNDAY

Sunday runday.  Teh PT Wife and I headed out at 8 to get some miles in.  I suggested only a 10k so I could get my German Corona medal and she was game.  I ended up doing over 7 miles total with my run and a dog walk.  I also wasn't dealing with Meri's shit, so I walked back down the boring way so I didn't have to endure her duck/goose hunting as we walked down the street.  I'm sure she'll eventually figure out she can duck hunt from this direction too, but I'm going to enjoy my arm not being pulled out of it's socket until then.

While all that was happening, Teh German and Teh PT Husband started a digging project that involved renting equipment and lots of manual labor.  After breakfast and a shower, I headed to the computer to accomplish some homework things.  After 2 hours of no-success on my research project, I finally just went back to the stone age and used Excel to do some analysis of my data, like a cavewoman.  Siiiigh.

I caught Teh German and Teh PT Husband right before they took the rental equipment back and suggested we do Buffalo Wild Wings for dinner, since I had called and confirmed they were open, and they agreed.  They picked up the order on the way back home and I had ZERO regrets.

After dinner, I hung out with Teh PT Kid and Teh PT Wife, assisting with homework things and watching Max and Marcy be goofy.  Eventually, I headed back home and knocked out some German homework.  Teh German eventually came home and showered and had some, well-deserved, screentime.  I was surprised that he didn't go to bed early, but he's an adult and can make his own choices.

After finishing my hw, I started the laundry and brushed my teeth and headed to bed for some screentime.  Teh German came upstairs soon after I was in bed.  We chatted for a little bit, but I could tell he was tired, so I let him fall asleep.  After I ran out of lives on my Disney Emoji Blitz game, it was sleepytime for me too.

______________________________________________

Overall, a very, VERY needed weekend.  It was a good mix of productive and relaxing.  Last week was such a rage-induced shitshow that Friday I mostly skated through work because I didn't want anyone to set me off.  The house is finally back to it's pre-painted state, which makes my brain sigh in relief.  There are several holes and paint touch ups that need to happen, but honestly, I'm not super worried about it until everything comes off the walls again... unless Teh German says something, then fine, I'll take care of it.

Since I don't really have a set school schedule anymore, I don't display it on my Google Calendar anymore and it looks like I have ALL THE FREE TIME!  I don't, but it gives me hope.  22 more days until classes end.  I still have the 3 finals, but no one has mentioned when those will be taking place, so I'm just going to endure those as they come.

There is going to be a virtual commencement ceremony, but I'm not planning on watching/attending that.  I'm sad I won't get my scroll photo with the ring, but I guess that's the trade off for all the gas I saved not having to go to campus every day for 2 months.  I already told Teh German that HIS graduation present from ME for dealing with me for the last 3 years his the new exhaust for Lars-Ludwig.  He said something about ordering it over it the weekend, but he didn't ask for my credit card (which I told him to do so I could pay for it), so I'm not sure if it happened.

Our Greyhound picnic was officially cancelled and so now my Current Happenings folder in my email is completely empty, le sigh.

We're already 6 days into April and it still feels like the March that never ends, I guess that gives March madness a whole new definition!

Weekend Review {2/17}

FRIDAY

Friday was Valentine's Day and although I insist we don't celebrate, we always end up celebrating.  Technically, Valentine's Day is the day between our birthdays which is why I often schedule events on that day, NOT for Valentine's Day.  This year, I scheduled a couples massage for Vday afternoon because it was time for my monthly massage and Teh German had given me the gift cert and I figured it was a nice way to celebrate the end of the debacle with Teh German's former company and I knew that by Feb 14th, he would be almost done with his work sessions for them.  I put a lot of thought into WHEN the massages would be, ok?  That's what you need to know.

It was a work and school day and it was painful for me to be at work past 1:30, but I endured because I didn't want to go all the way home then have to turn around and come back to North Charleston for the massage.

I also stopped by the bank for Teh German and learned that we have never discussed the "if I call you back-to-back, you drop what you're doing and answer the phone" circumstance.  Because I was livid when I had to call Teh German from the bank to ask for information and he didn't answer when I called him back to back, even though he KNEW I was at the bank handing shit for him

Teh German ended up calling me back when I was back at work and explained that he was on a video conference call and I was like, DNGAF.  I think this is 100% a cultural difference.  Teh German couldn't fathom answering his phone while he was on a video conference call, "because they could see me."  I, on the other hand, have straight up walked out of a meeting or class to answer my phone if I know it's important.  I had figured out a workaround at the bank, but it wasn't ideal and I made it Teh German's problem to handle.

I was still pissed off when I got to the massage place.  Teh German asked me what was wrong and I straight up told him, "If I call you back-to-back, answer me.  It's important and almost always quick.  There's nothing at work that can't be paused for 30 seconds to handle something personal that is important.  I don't waste your time when you're at work."  I'm not sure if we're on the same page about this or not, but I've said my piece. /shrug

The massage was everything I knew I kneaded (needed, haaaaa).  After the massage, I was a nicer person, I think.  When I got back to the locker where my stuff was, I had notifications on my phone from almost every communication app possible.  One of the notifications was that my new work computer had arrived to the office after I'd left.  Le siiiigh.

Teh German and I agreed on Buffalo Wild Wings for dinner, because we ain't fancy and we weren't sure if we'd have any post-dinner activities to attend.  We'd bounced around ideas of going to a Stingrays game or to the movies or anything at all, but ultimately we ended up going home and watching Netflix.  I asked Roux's Humom to feed the beasts dinner, which Teh German observed.  At least we're both creepers.

After our massage, Teh German had given Willow a thorough look down and asked if I'd received flowers.  I told him no.  I was neutral about it.  I hadn't expected them, so I wasn't disappointed that there had been no flowers.  Teh German was upset about it and explained that he'd ordered flowers for me and had them delivered to my office.

When I messaged my coworker about my new laptop and told her that I was going to swing back by the office and she said that was a good idea.  When I got to my desk, I discovered a HUGE fancy display of classic roses.  I discovered they had arrived minutes after I had walked out of the office when I started up my new laptop and installed Slack and saw several missed notifications from the coworker who had received them for me.  Siiiiiiiiiiiiigh.  I 100% would have turned around and went back to the office had I received the notification before 7pm.  Fortunately, I went back to the office anyways, so it worked out.  The flowers are gorgeous and Teh German is now forgiven for no delivery on my bday.

Because I'm a snob when it comes to brownies, Teh German and I had agreed after we'd finished dinner that we wanted dessert, but also wanted to go home.  I suggested that I make brownies and he agreed.  So while I was at the office picking up my laptop and flowers, Teh German went by the grocery story and picked up vanilla ice cream.  When I got home, I risked it and made brownies.

A few Gentle Readers might remember the Vday debacle of 2013 when I gave myself food poisoning from eating raw brownie batter on Feb 13th, which meant that I spent all of Feb 14th expelling my insides and killing any mystery in my relationship with Teh Bear, since he was in MD visiting me.

Risks were taken and it ended up being ok.  No food poisoning was obtained, despite my licking the stir spoon clean.  While brownies cooked, we watched Big Mouth.  Coincidentally, the brownies finished and I delivered a brownie with ice cream to Teh German on the couch and then the Big Mouth Valentine's special started playing.  I appreciated the coincidence.

While we had couch time, I worked on getting my new work computer set up to be ready to go for Monday.  Apps installed, etc.  Company IT had done most of the setup for me, so I just needed to install things like Slack and sign into Chrome to get my favorites, etc.

Since Teh German was working on Saturday at the former company, we went to bed at a reasonable time.  I wasn't disappointed.

SATURDAY

Saturday morning was a slow start, kinda.  Teh German didn't go into the office until 0930 because he had to go by the bank, so we slept in until Meri was a demanding asshole.  Teh German got up with the beasts and fed them.  He came back to bed for a bit and when his alarm went off, he got up and got ready.  I stayed in the bed for a little longer, scrolling, and then got up and got ready for the day, so I would be more motivated to do my German homework.

AND THEN, while I was eating breakfast, a Coworker messaged me and asked if I was interested in attending a workout with her and I said, sure why not.  She picked the workout that was at Commonhouse instead of Frothy Beard since that was closer to me.  It was a bootcamp circuit style workout and I didn't know what to expect so I went hard the entire time.. and then we ended with an AMRAP (as many reps as possible) and I was so gassed I rode the struggle bus for the 6 minute the AMRAP lasted.  But I survived, barely.

Included in the workout was a "free" beer from Commonhouse, "free" because I paid $15 for the workout, which was fine.  Commonhouse's tap list was completely full, which was nice.  I tasted the hefeweisen and it had that yeast roll after taste that I prefer and I ended up drinking (and enjoying) and entire pint of it.  The bartender also informed me they were going to start canning the hefeweisen this week, so that is exciting news for me.

The workout leader brought their Frenchies with them, and they were super adorable.

After the workout, I went home and hung out with the dogs.  I sat down to do homework and got zero things accomplished.  My head had started to hurt so I ended up on the couch, napping with Meri.  Teh German messaged me at 2:30 to tell me that he was coming home by 3.

So the reason for the bank visits was that Teh German found a motorcycle on FB Marketplace that he was interested in.  He had been stalking it for a while and seen the price go down about $2k.  The seller agreed to let Teh German come and check out the bike and take it for a test ride on Saturday afternoon since it was supposed to rain on Sunday.

I knew as soon as Teh German laid eyes on the bike that he was going to be bringing it home.  Teh German played hard to get, a little bit.  He had a millionty questions, which wasn't a bad thing.  While he took it on a ride, I stayed and the seller and I chatted.  He was an older-ish guy who took crazy good care of the bike.  He had even kept all the original parts that he'd replaced.  When Teh German got back, money was exchanged, the title was signed over, and I followed Teh German home in Baloo.  The best part about driving Baloo is that Teh German has Sirius XM, which means I get to listen to the BPM channel.

When we got home, photos were taken and then New Bike (name to come) was put into the garage for the night.  Leftovers were for dinner.  Teh German was looking at parts for New Bike, even thought he said he shouldn't.

We spent the evening watching Dark on Netflix, a suggestion from my entire German class.  Once we put the language into German and turned on the English subtitles, we were golden.  I really wasn't enjoying the English voiceovers.

SUNDAY

Sunday was a slow start.  Meri woke me up at 0700, like the diablo dog that she is.  Teh German was awake too, but we both went back to sleep until... 1030.  Oops.  It was fine.

We got up and made breakfast and then I tried to put in a Sam's order and couldn't.  I headed to the office to do my German homework while Teh German did tank things and rearranged the garage to fit all FOUR motorcycles AND Baloo (and Willow, of course).  Honestly, I'm turned on by his Tetris skills.  This isn't a permanent solution since the white bike (Suzi) will be sold eventually, but it's not a bad intermediate solution since Teh German only needs to pull Bagheera out to work comfortably at the work bench.

Around 3:15, I tried to make the Sam's order again and discovered that one (of the two) items I needed was out of stock, so that saved us a trip to Sam's.  I hit pause on German homework and told Teh German we should get our grocery store trip accomplished and he agreed.  We got ready and headed out to Food Lion, which I hadn't went into since it was a Bilo that went out of business.  While there, we saw and chatted with one of the GLCK, which was nice.  Not that we hadn't seen her recently, it was just a good, fulfilling, neighborly chat.

We headed home after the grocery store and ate dinner (porkloin in the crockpot, corn, and a grocery store impulse buy of potato salad).  Evening activities included: watching more Dark then an episode of Big Mouth to get in some LOLs and then it was bedtime.

______________________________________________

A fantastic weekend for the books.

I'm proud of Teh German for accomplishing a dream.  Apparently, he's wanted a BMW 1000cc bike for a while and he made that happen.  Additionally, we're both still marveling over the fact that there are currently 6 motor vehicles in the garage, all of which are paid for AND FIT.  He did clarify multiple times that one bike would be departing us eventually.  But as long as Willow and Bagheera fit, I don't really care.

I've already told my Coworker that I'm down to do the Saturday workout again, whenever she's ready.  Our schedules don't mesh for the next few weeks, but I'm confident we'll get back eventually.  I started getting sore from the workout on Saturday evening, which was rough.  I spent Sunday hobbling around and stretching whenever possible and had Teh German use my percussion massager on my butt before bed.  He was very gleeful when he found my sore spots and got to press harder and cackle at my pain.  Thankfully, this morning I'm not nearly as sore as I was, which means I might get in a run this week before the 15k on Saturday with Teh Bestie and Matilda.

This week looks quiet, so we'll see what actually happens.
PS.  We're over halfway through February.  I'm sad/glad.  So far, this has been a turbulent month and the waters will continue to ripple as the events on the calendar come over the next few months.

80 days until graduation. :D

Weekend Review {1/27}

FRIDAY

When you spend an obscene amount of time in the bathroom, you learn new things.. like the fact that your soap container is glow in the dark.  YAY for clearance halloween soap.

Also, when your dogs are fucking creepers, you will NOT poop alone.  Even though you're living in the bathroom.  No man gets left behind.. and if you dare to shut the door, all you'll hear outside the bathroom is the sound of dog feet dragging on the floor like their leg weigh triple their entire body weight.  Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh.

And that's essentially the tale of that one time Megan couldn't stop pooping for 36 hours.  Not sure if it was food poisoning or a virus but either way, no thank you.  Since I had morphed into a poop monster, I notified my PM at 0443 that I would NOT be coming into the office since I was probably going to change my permanent address to my toilet.

I did manage to sit through class and it was a mad dash after class was over to get to the bathroom.  After, I went to pick up my race packet, got gas, picked up flushable wipes, and by the time I made it home, it was bathroom time again.  Teh Bestie encouraged me to take some Imodium, which I discovered we had (since I had forgotten it when I was at Walmart, even though I knew I was forgetting something) even though it was expired.

When I got home, I did more work things and took the beasts on a walk and took care of Teh German's chores and ensured that Teh German didn't die and was unmotivated for the majority of the evening.

Teh German spent the entire day in bed.  He came home Thursday afternoon from work feeling poorly and he was already in bed when I made it upstairs (after I had come home and then had to spend some time in the bathroom).  He called someone at work to let them know he wasn't coming in because he was sick and went back to sleep and that's where he stayed.  When I got home from school, I fed him soup for lunch and ensured he was medicated.  He texted me from bed to inquire where his meds were later in the evening and I asked what he wanted for dinner and delivered it to him with his meds.  I was kinda pissed to see that he was functional when I delivered dinner, having turned the bedroom lights on and was scrolling, but couldn't be bothered to come downstairs to feed himself, but fine.

After he ate, I brought his dirty dishes back downstairs, started the dishwasher, did my own pre-bedtime chores/grooming and went to bed.  When I said that it was lights out, there was no question about it.  Thankfully, Teh German didn't argue, because if he had, his ass would have been kicked out of the bedroom.  #NotSorry.

I kinda felt like Nurse Rachet about him being sick and then I felt like I was being taken advantage of after serving an alert, functional Teh German dinner in bed.  Mostly because I don't feel like I receive that same type of treatment when I'm sick, but let's not keep score.

SATURDAY

Saturday, Teh German got up at regular work time and headed to his former German company to work one of the agreed upon Saturdays for training his replacement.  This was not an issue for me since I was doing the Post Charlie Classic 15k at Sullivans Island.

Knowing the course was boring AF reallyyyyy helped me not get bogged down this year, unlike last year.  I stopped to pet a greyhound and take selfies with the library and the beach and I walked at the water stops.  RunKeeper said my time was 10:34/mile, but the race tracker said 10:44/mile and I'm going with the faster time on principle.

After my race, I stopped by Metto and picked up treats for myself, Teh German, and his replacement, then I dropped them off at the company.  I had considered messaging Teh German beforehand, but I was afraid he'd tell me not to come, so I didn't.

I went home and walked the dogs and talked to Teh Granny for 3 hours.  I was not planning on that time commitment.  I took a bath while I was talking to her and couldn't wet my hair because every time I said I needed to get off the phone, she'd start up talking again.  Like, I love my Granny the most, but jjjjjeeezzzzuuuuussssssss.

Eventually, I did get off the phone because Granny started fussing that when she was looking for something, she wanted peace and quiet to do it, and I was like, uhhhhh ok, byeeeeeee.  Teh German and I took to the couches for recovery time with Meri.

I think we dozed for a short while, but we did eventually get up.  We went to Page's Okra Grill for dinner because I wanted chicken livers, then we accomplished our grocery shopping at Sam's and Walmart.

When we got back home, I put away the groceries and Teh German turned on the NHL All-Star game.  I wasn't overly interested and I was tired, so I went up to bed and read until Teh German came to bed.

I ended up finishing my Stephen King book after Teh German came to bed.  I also finished the Jojo Moyes audiobook on my way home from the race.  Woot, book accomplishments.

SUNDAY

I got up earlier than I felt it was on Sunday, around 0930, feeling like it was 1030 at least.  I finished up the laundry that I'd been avoiding since Friday (using the excuse that Teh German was trying to rest on Friday and recuperation on Saturday) and went downstairs and had breakfast.  Then it was homework time.

I really hate when I put stuff on shelves and it just slides around and falls off in the floor...
so I finally decided to hang my running skirts.

In working up to be motivated to do homework, I picked out the colors for my next medal rack that I'm waiting on Teh German to size and sand for me to paint and cut stickers on the Cricut.  Grey will be the letter color, I'll then put the decal on, then paint over it with the green, then peel the stickers.  Hopefully it won't look too bad.  We'll see what happens.

I did finally chug through my German homework and looking over the suggested readings for my databases class.  I considered doing Stats homework, but we haven't covered the questions yet and rather than be frustrated, I figured I'd just wait for the lecture.

I finished my homework at 3, right as Teh German left to go to some brewery event with Teh PT Husband and Teh Ret AF Maintainer, so I had to deal with my boredom all by myself.

I did go over to Teh PT House for a little bit to visit with the Huddie-Wuddie and we watched some Zucko's baking challenge show on Netflix that we enjoyed snarking.  But then it was doggy dinner time and I headed home to ensure the beasts didn't die of starvation.  I settled on the couch for a little bit to play my stupid game and read and scroll.  Teh German wasn't home by 8:30 so I headed up to bed and read my MHN book and finally went to sleep.  Teh German came home while I was still reading, but didn't come upstairs before I went to sleep.  Oh well.

______________________________________________

Overall, a decent weekend, despite the ending of the week being so... poopy.  I didn't have any issues during my run (no runS, ha!), so all the praise hands for that.  I also felt confident with my time and I will have a good feeling going into the half marathon next weekend.

This coming week is rather busy.
-The beasts will be doing their trial daycare run at the boarding place.
-Teh PT Kid's bday
-VA appt on Friday
-My bday celebration event on Friday night.
-Saturday is the half marathon and Teh PT Kid's bday gathering (which I will make bday mac and cheese for him)
-Sunday is that stupid football game that everyone cares about
-Monday is my BIRFDAY!!!

I'm still kinda struggling with how little demand for my time school has this semester.  Granted, I really should be doing more research stuff.. but YOLO.

Other things I need to accomplish are booking lodging for Teh German and I in Denver and reserving a rental car.  I need to get with Matilda and Teh Bestie to see what the lodging situation is for Charlotte later in Feb.  There's also something else I'm forgetting.. but I'm sure I'll remember eventually..

Happy End of January, Gentle Readers!

Weekend Review {1/20}

FRIDAY

School and work on Friday.  I went into the office super early so I could leave early.  When I got home, I walked the beasts and waited on Teh German to come home.  Our evening plan was a group Halls Chophouse dinner.

My bison filet was fucking delicious.  Some of the company left things to be desired and Teh PT Wife and I agreed that we'd keep our Halls dinners to the ladies from here on.  We made it home by 9 and shortly after it was bedtime.

SATURDAY

Saturday, Teh German got up to feed the beasts and never came back to bed.  I woke up and scrolled for a little bit and went back to sleep.  I woke up later and when I finally willed myself to get out of bed at 10, Meri started using me as a headrest and I was stuck in bed for 30 more minutes until she moved.  #Rules

Once I got up, I willed myself to go run.  I started my run and met a neighbor and his wheelchair dog, so I walked their circuit with them.  Then I went on my run, adding a few new streets to bump up my miles, which I'll do again, but slightly different next time.  When I was almost home, I saw Roux and his Humom and said if they came back to the house, I'd get Meri and Pax and we could do a group walk, so that's what we did.

When I finally returned home, I saw a text from Teh PT Wife asking if Teh German and I wanted to go to Smokey Oak for a dog event they were hosting.  I said yes, that'd I'd be ready in 20 minutes.  I didn't clarify until I got in the car without Teh German that he was already out running his errands and maybe he'd meet us after he was done.

Whippet!

We walked around the tents and petted stranger dogs and worked up an appetite.  There was a bully rescue, the greyhound rescue, and a great dane rescue at the event and those are all the collective's favorite breeds, so it was a win.  Teh German did ultimately end up meeting us and eating late lunch with us.

When we got home, it was chill time.  Teh German left for planned hockey activities around 5, then was back home by 5:30 after finding out someone cancelled and the group was less interested.  He headed over to Teh PT House while I held down the couch.  I headed over to Teh PT House to catch a ride to a ladies night event at Honkytonk Saloon with Teh PT Wife.

As someone who was only allowed to listen to country music until she was 12, I have pretty country roots.. but Gentle Readers, this was too much for me.  I will say the people watching was on point, but I learned there is a line dance for every song now, which is exhausting.  Also, as someone who doesn't know all these new line dances, the Alpine Skiing event on one of the TVs was more interesting than the girl on the dance floor with her ass hanging out of her booty shorts who knew every dance to every song.

I danced to 2 songs and got kicked in the ankle during the 2nd dance and that was it for me.  I was pissed.  How much fucking flailing are you doing to KICK SOMEONE during a line dance that doesn't involve ANY kicks?!  Ugh.  Since I was in a rage, I wasn't sad when Teh PT Wife said she was ready to go home.

We were home shortly after 10 and I wasn't sad.  We hung out with the husbands for a bit and told them about all the sights we got to experience.  Not long after, it was sleepytime, so we headed home and took care of bedtime chores and went to bed.

SUNDAY

We stayed in the bed until 11 on Sunday.  IDK why, it wasn't like we'd partied hard or did anything overly strenuous Friday/Saturday.  Meri wasn't disappointed since she was stretched out between us for her post-breakfast nap.

When we got up, we had breakfast and I finally headed to the office to start Spring 2020 homework.  I also took care of some managerial tasks for organizing my life and finally started the tedious process of German homework.  For the millionth time, I questioned if I should drop this German class and take a different, easier, class, but I actually enjoy this class, despite the workload, so it's complicated and I'll stick with it, even if I have to whine about it first.

This girl makes me swoon.

Due to ADD, it took me a lot longer than it needed to, to do my homework.  YOLO.  Also, Teh German decided to hang the dining room curtain rod and do tank things, neither of which is quiet or conducive to studying.  Ultimately, I ended up having to put on my fancy headphones to block out his noise.

It was leftovers for dinner and Modern Family in the evening.  We finally caught up on Modern Family, so we started watching Community.  Teh German isn't sure about it.  I explained that first seasons are always rough, so we'll carry on.

Around 9, it was time for bedtime chores and sleepytime.

Overall, a fantastic weekend.  I did finally get a run in and it was fabulous and then on Sunday I was such a slouch that I broke my 19 day activity streak and I'm disappointed in myself, but not overly.  It is what it is.

No school today as it's MLK day.

This week includes:
-Finally starting my research class.
-Work happy hour with corporate visitors
-WiCyS meeting
-Hairs did
-15k on Saturday

The other big thing I need to do is get back to the gym.  Since I've been running only, my mid-back has been absolutely KILLING me.  I've read up on how to deter arthritis pain and turns out, strengthening and working out help the most.  Ugh.  So, that's a thing.  I've charged up and update my tablet for watching Netflix while on the elliptical (warm up/gym cardio) and then post elliptical, it will be weights and core.   Siiiiiiiiiiiiiigh.  I really need an accountability buddy because, as of late, I'm the BEST at demotivating myself.  It's the worst.

Weekend Review {11/11}

FRIDAY

EVERYTHING passed sooo slowly on Friday.  EVERYTHING.  It work and school day.

After completing a HUGE work task, I had to motivate myself to do homework.
There were 3 parts and after each part, I got a reward.

THEN.. ~3, TEH BESTIE ARRIVED!!!!!!  YAY!  I was so excited that I, not only, forgot to take a selfie, but I also forgot to pick up the Sam's order.. soooo yeah.  After picking up Bestie, we headed home.  Meri was SO excited to see Bestie that she couldn't decide if she wanted to go outside (her absolute favorite thing when it's not raining) or if she wanted lovins from her Other Momma.  She went back to her Other Momma twice before finally going outside.  It was adorable.

Shortly after 5, we headed downtown with Teh PT Wife for ladies night at Halls.  BISON FILET MOTHERFUCKERS!!!!  WOOOOOO!!!

It was delicious, as always and I had ZERO regrets.  After getting home, we headed over to Teh PT House for a bit more socializing.  By 10, we were all yawns and it was time to go home.

SATURDAY

An agreement for Bestie Weekend was that we'd relax and plan things by ear.  AKA, no obligations.  It was kinda hard not to plan a run, but I managed..

I got up with the beasts to accomplish some homework in the AM.  For lunch, we went to Bad Daddy's Burgers in Summerville.  We've been to other locations before (Raleigh, Denver), so we knew what we were getting into.  The food was delicious, even if we had to wait.  I'm always so surprised at how small they make new restaurants here.  Maybe it will make more sense after the newness wears off?  But IDK, based on this location.

After lunch, we headed to Sam's to pick up the forgotten grocery order.  Bestie and I ran into Walmart while Teh German went into Sam's to pick up the order.  We got everything loaded into the car and headed back home.

Teh Bestie and I had tossed around the idea of going to the Elizabeth Warren town hall that was being held nearby and after getting the groceries put away, we headed to the high school where it was being held.  We weren't really sold on the idea of getting there at 2:45 for a 4:15 event, buttt when we pulled up at 2:47, the parking lot was almost full and there was a line at the door... Soooo, glad we listened.

When we were filing in, I got to speak with my German teacher from last spring and I explained how I wanted to be there, but with 5 computer science classes, I just couldn't swing it.  She did say I was missed, which made me happy.

Bestie and I made a new friend, RJ, while we waited for the event to start.  RJ was a recent transplant to CHS from Orlando and is also a runner.  Despite the age gap (RJ is 22?), we had a grand time.  It was nice to speak to a youth (ha) that had intelligent things to say and was interested in what is going on.. and, ya know, shares some of my beliefs.

Senator Warren's talk was good, she hit home with a lot of things and explained the 2 cent tax on individuals who make more than 50 million dollars (2 cents is deducted from every dollar after 50 million).  I thought her tongue-in-cheek attitude was amusing, but did not detract from the seriousness of her topics and things that are happening.  The fact that she seems to have a plan for everything doesn't hurt my feelings, although getting plans pushed through is always the problem in American government.

We pinky promised.

I know that I will probably vote for Elizabeth Warren if she is the democratic nominee.  While I really appreciate Andrew Yang's views on technology, I'm not sold on the idea of giving everyone $1000 a month, despite how much I crush on him for his stance on technology and data security.  He's the ONLY dem candidate that seems to understand tech and that IS important... it's VERY important.. and we currently live in the dark regarding these issues.

After standing from 2:47-6:47.. we were EXHAUSTED and headed home.  We had cereal for dinner and we introduced Teh Bestie to Big Mouth.  #NotSorry.  Unfortunately, she got an emergency call from Teh Chief Smartass and decisions had to be made and now little Zo-Zo is no longer with us.  She's been ailing in her old age, so it wasn't unexpected, but it always is.. and having to make the decision while you're not even there is even more difficult.  Thankfully, it's 2019 and Teh Bestie got to FaceTime with Teh Chief Smartass and Zoey while they were at the vet.

Finally, around 0100, we all headed to bed, mentally and physically exhausted.

SUNDAY

Sunday morning was a slow start.  Teh German got up with the beasts and we had brunch reservations at Acme Lowcountry Kitchen in Isle of Palms at 11.  Brunch was deeeeelicious.  I'd totally recommend Acme if you're a bruncher.  I would also recommend a reservation since the place was WAY busier than I had expected it would be.  Also, there's only a single women's bathroom and a single men's bathroom, so that's less good, but whatever.

After brunch, we came home for laziness.

I ended up resting my eyes while Monkey-Doodle used me as her personal body pillow.

Before dropping off Bestie at the airport, we went to Bath and Body Works and spent some dollas.  I made sure to send my sadness selfie after dropping Bestie off.

It was a quiet evening.  I worked on homework, or attempted to, and Teh German did some scrolling/YouTubing.  It was sammiches for dinner and we were finally in the bed by 10:30, because I kept forgetting and remembering things (like to place the stupid Walmart grocery order).

BUTTONS!

Today is Veteran's Day and I've been quiet about it this year.  IDK.  My 0900 and 1000 classes were cancelled today and since there was no quiz in my 0800 class and a guest speaker in my 1300 class, I decided that it was a non-Citadel day.  I had planned on going into the office, but when I woke up this morning I was still exhausted.  In fact, it's almost 1 and I'm STILL exhausted and my head is hurting, so I suspect this might be some PMS.  So rather than go into the office, I teleworked today, which is no different than any other Monday, so NBD.

What it really meant is that I got EXTRA snuggles with BOTH dogs this morning and I'm not in any way disappointed about that.  When it gets chilly, Meri is extra snuggly and I just lurve it.

Today I've been rather productive, I ate breakfast and scooped poop (since it hadn't been done in at least a month based on the overflowing bucket of poop I gathered), then went to the computer for the things I do.  I also managed to migrate the photos I store on Dropbox to my external HD, so YAY, finally!  This is always a difficult chore for me since I often want the photos that I just moved to my HD but I've already deleted them from Dropbox so I don't duplicate them on my HD later.  #TechnologyWoes

This week is mostly quiet.  The dogs have an appointment to get their toes cut off on Thursday, praise Allah, since the clicking is driving me batshit crazy.

12 days until Thanksgiving break.
179 days until Graduation.

Five on Friday #215

EINS - Random Shit

After flipping out last month on the Cadets for never being able to recall any information given in class...  The PITA Professor has now started coming to me to confirm the due dates that he has announced in class.  This has happened more than once.  I am officially the date keeper of all assignments given in all my classes.

FUCK MY FUCKING LIFE.

________________________________________

A typo-ed period on the output of a programming assignment cost me an entire letter grade on a PITA Professor assignment.  There is probably someone out there who thought I was just being "Megan-dramatic" by calling him PITA Professor.. but, Gentle Readers, I am not.  So I got a D+ on an assignment instead of a C+ because of a TYPO-ED PERIOD.  And it's not like the grading of nhis programming assignments isn't entirely subjective anyways.. so I mean.. he could have just docked like half a letter grade and I would have still gotten a C.  NOPE.  Fuuuuuuucccckkk yoooouuuu, brrrroooooo.

I knew something was up when he asked me for a source file from my turn in... He could have asked me for the output again, but instead he asked for the source file.  I see what you did there.  Dick.  Ugh.

Last Friday this post didn't happen because life.  Monday posts often don't get to happen on Monday because life.  I've seriously considered just not blogging at all because I need to stop stress-forcing myself to do things.. and then I'm like, but we had such an awesome weekend and I want to document that, which is the whole purpose of this blog...  so it's a conundrum.  So if you've noticed the wavering schedule, just know that's how my life is currently operating and you're seeing the fallout because, eventually, something has to give... and often, it's the things I enjoy the most.  Siiiiiiigh.

Less than 200 days until graduation, Gentle Readers.

My job is a lot of waiting to get flooded for tasking and the dams finally broke this month and I've been slammed with tasking.  I've finally accepted that this is my life and I don't even get upset anymore... unless someone wants a 25+ page document completed by the end of the business day and they send it to me after 0900...  My PM and techs sometimes apologize and I just shrug and tell them that's part of my job and I've accepted it.  Honestly, it's the biggest motivator for me getting my homework done as soon as it's assigned instead of waiting until the last minute, so it kinda works out.

That said, when you push out 3 documents for 3 different projects in the same day and there are changes that need to be made to make one document like another, it gets VERY confusing.

Meri finally got her hairs did!  I made a super awkward post on Instagram with the caption, "Goodbye floofs!" and a few people thought that meant "Goodbye Meri" and that was NOT the intention.  Oops.  Since Pax has some separation anxiety when Meri isn't around, I ended up making a dog day.

I brought both dogs into the office in the AM and then we all went and dropped Meri off at the groomer when it was time.  I stopped by Teh German's office on the way back to my office so he could have some Pax Therapy time since he had some shit going down at work.  I love bringing my dogs to work.. but Jesus, it's exhausting having to pay attention to another being all day long and make sure they don't get into anything or poop anywhere.  Plus it was a day full of work, so I was being pulled in all the directions.

sooo stoned because Mahm gave me anxiety meds

Coworker of the Month and I at the company all hands meeting.

Then when I picked up Meri, the groomer told me that she'd accidentally nicked Meri's tail and she had a case of happy tail.. which I was just rolling with since Meri has had self-inflicted happy tail before.  Except, she was so excited to see that she immediately slung the wrap on her tail off and proceeded to create a murder scene at the groomer's front desk.  They rewrapped Meri's tail and we negotiated a payment situation since they weren't going to charge me since they nicked Meri and I refused since I couldn't even tip them if they didn't charge me.  We agreed that I'd pay half so I could tip and I also felt that this was more fair than not paying at all.

With that sorted out, we headed out and when we got to the car, Meri was so excited to see Pax that she slung off the wrapping.. again, but IN Willow AND THE BLOOD.. So it was like Willow got her period and I'm trying to grab for Meri's tail, which she hates and she's confused why I'm freaking the fuck out and she's bleeding and trying to lick her tail and fucking chaos.  Is there a more accurate analogy for my life?  Probably not.

I gave up trying to get the wrap back on the her tail and just went back inside and asked for anything to cover it AND duct tape.  Sooo now Meri has a rag/duct tape club on her tail and it's pitiful, but at least she's not bleeding all over everything anymore.. Thoughts and prayers that she doesn't chew it off while we're at work.  The last thing I need, after having to clean up Willow's insides is a murder scene across the entirety of House.

It was definitely a peaceful evening!

Update: Her tail wrap fell off Thursday afternoon and now she's got an almost bald spot from the gorilla duct tape.  Oops.  On any given day, I fully expect to go home to a blood bath all over the entire house.

There is an ice cream shop down the street from my work.  I've been in there ONE time and there was no one to serve me or even talk to me.. There was a kid sitting at the counter watching TV, but that was it.  No workers.

I tried to go in a few week ago, but they were "on vacation".. uhh wut?  Fine.

I tried to go in today in the middle of the day.. The door was locked.

It wasn't fucking meant to be.
Also, how does this place stay open?

Dear Well-Intentioned Friends,

Your Greyhound-owner friends have seen the photo of the greyhound dressed up as a greyhound bus. Not just once or twice, but a millionty times. We appreciate that you think of us, but please know, we have already seen the greyhound dressed as a greyhound bus. We've seen it every Halloween that we've had social media. We've seen it intermittently throughout the year when someone signs onto their social media account for the first time in 6 months. We've seen it in our sleep. In fact, we probably also considered the idea since it is super adorable, but then realized just how much work went into that and how much our hound hates wearing clothes and realized NOT dressing our greyhound up as a greyhound bus was a more productive idea.

I repeat: WE HAVE SEEN THE PHOTO OF THE GREYHOUND DRESSED AS A GREYHOUND BUS.

I'm officially the asshole that will passive-aggressively call your ass out if you're being too loud in the morning.  We always have non-Company employees working in our office.  I'm not really sure why, but we've all just accepted it at this point.  Anyways.. one of these freeloaders participated in a conference call on speaker phone at 0730 and I managed for about 10 minutes, thinking to myself it had to end now.. no.. NOW.. Nope.. NOWWWW.  Still no?  Fuck you, bro.

I sashayed my sassy ass to the conference room and pulled the door shut.  I will not deal with that shit.  NOPEEEE.

I had a consult with a new hair stylist that is near my work since my current hair person moved to BFE and it's just too far for me.  I made an appointment for December with the new lady and I'm second-guessing myself so hard because I checked her instagram (after she gave me her card) and she hasn't really done a lot of "vivid hair" or she doesn't post on social media a lot.  IDK.  She seemed really nice and I know I have hair trust issues, so I'm hoping that's why I have a weird feeling about this situation.. but I'm having anxiety about this decision.

Backstory: When I was trying to call the salon to set up the consult appointment, I accidentally called Meri's groomer who informed me, after I told them about my blue hair/far away stylist situation, that they work on DOGS mostly.

This weekend is homework, homework, homework.  Not being in town for the entire weekend for our anniversary means I need to be ahead of the game.  I HAVE to write that stupid fucking paper already.

Also this weekend, I have to take the beasts to meet the dogs of a coworker who is willing to watch the dogs/trade dog sitting services.

Also, tonight is the Aquarium After Hours event, featuring "spirits" this time.. costume is suggested and liquor will be served.  YAAASSS.  We're dressing up as old people because I've been married long enough now that my Husband has shamed my clothing choices when I want to go out in workout pants instead of jeans and I make it a personal life goal to have valid reasons to go out in public in my pajamas and this is one of those times.  #LikeAFuckingBoss

We received the email from Pack Up & Go (no compensation for me by linking that, unfortunately, but if they were interested in a deal, I'm interested too!) for our trip next weekend.  The weather forecast is a high in the 40°s (Fahrenheit) each day and I'm so fucking pumped that I tried to backwards search where that would be, but can't figure it out because the airport doesn't have any flights listed as leaving at the time they said we would be departing.. sooo yeah.. I'm that person who has already tried to figure it out.

Gentle Readers, if I make it to the night before our trip without opening the envelope to find out where we are going, I will be impressed.  I'd say I'd keep you updated, but I fully anticipate that I will be taking a technology hiatus next weekend... #NotSorry

DREI - From My Phone Shit

Life Lesson:
Properly plan to have dark sheets on the bed after getting a tattoo.
Or else....

Twin Mom bought me this gem and I have never been more disappointed to have already completed the laundry the night before.  She has one too, so we're TWINS.  HAAAA.

What is a witch's best subject in school?
Spelling.

Do green M&Ms still make people horny?
Asking for a friend...

VIER - From the Internet Shit

Teh German recently suggested meatloaf for dinner.
I asked him if feetmeat was acceptable.
He said HELL NO.

That'd be me in the blue.
If there was ever a question.

It is ok to say:
"Today was one of those days,"
and still close your eyes,
breathe deep,
and rest, anyway.

FÜNF - Things that made me happy this week

  1. All of my mandalas being complete for my 3/4 sleeve.
  2. Not drowning in homework/homework not giving me a breakdown.
  3. Teh German coming to bed at the same time as me.
  4. 2 words: COLD FRONT.
  5. Lunch with former coworkers.
  6. Professors who appreciate my frustration with other students being shitbags... and who help me do my homework because technology hates me.
  7. Work tasking.  I bitched a lot this week about being slammed, but it was more whining than anything.  All of my school and work work got turned in on time, but I did have to be dramatic about it first.
  8. The Pack Up & Go email.  I'm finally letting myself start get excited about our trip.
  9. 2 weeks till Teh Bestie comes to visit!!!  /sqqqquuuuuuueeeeee!
  10. Solid Betty Crocker skillz this week.

Happy Friday, Gentle Readers.
