Weekend Review {2/17}

FRIDAY

Friday was Valentine's Day and although I insist we don't celebrate, we always end up celebrating.  Technically, Valentine's Day is the day between our birthdays which is why I often schedule events on that day, NOT for Valentine's Day.  This year, I scheduled a couples massage for Vday afternoon because it was time for my monthly massage and Teh German had given me the gift cert and I figured it was a nice way to celebrate the end of the debacle with Teh German's former company and I knew that by Feb 14th, he would be almost done with his work sessions for them.  I put a lot of thought into WHEN the massages would be, ok?  That's what you need to know.

It was a work and school day and it was painful for me to be at work past 1:30, but I endured because I didn't want to go all the way home then have to turn around and come back to North Charleston for the massage.

I also stopped by the bank for Teh German and learned that we have never discussed the "if I call you back-to-back, you drop what you're doing and answer the phone" circumstance.  Because I was livid when I had to call Teh German from the bank to ask for information and he didn't answer when I called him back to back, even though he KNEW I was at the bank handing shit for him

Teh German ended up calling me back when I was back at work and explained that he was on a video conference call and I was like, DNGAF.  I think this is 100% a cultural difference.  Teh German couldn't fathom answering his phone while he was on a video conference call, "because they could see me."  I, on the other hand, have straight up walked out of a meeting or class to answer my phone if I know it's important.  I had figured out a workaround at the bank, but it wasn't ideal and I made it Teh German's problem to handle.

I was still pissed off when I got to the massage place.  Teh German asked me what was wrong and I straight up told him, "If I call you back-to-back, answer me.  It's important and almost always quick.  There's nothing at work that can't be paused for 30 seconds to handle something personal that is important.  I don't waste your time when you're at work."  I'm not sure if we're on the same page about this or not, but I've said my piece. /shrug

The massage was everything I knew I kneaded (needed, haaaaa).  After the massage, I was a nicer person, I think.  When I got back to the locker where my stuff was, I had notifications on my phone from almost every communication app possible.  One of the notifications was that my new work computer had arrived to the office after I'd left.  Le siiiigh.

Teh German and I agreed on Buffalo Wild Wings for dinner, because we ain't fancy and we weren't sure if we'd have any post-dinner activities to attend.  We'd bounced around ideas of going to a Stingrays game or to the movies or anything at all, but ultimately we ended up going home and watching Netflix.  I asked Roux's Humom to feed the beasts dinner, which Teh German observed.  At least we're both creepers.

After our massage, Teh German had given Willow a thorough look down and asked if I'd received flowers.  I told him no.  I was neutral about it.  I hadn't expected them, so I wasn't disappointed that there had been no flowers.  Teh German was upset about it and explained that he'd ordered flowers for me and had them delivered to my office.

When I messaged my coworker about my new laptop and told her that I was going to swing back by the office and she said that was a good idea.  When I got to my desk, I discovered a HUGE fancy display of classic roses.  I discovered they had arrived minutes after I had walked out of the office when I started up my new laptop and installed Slack and saw several missed notifications from the coworker who had received them for me.  Siiiiiiiiiiiiigh.  I 100% would have turned around and went back to the office had I received the notification before 7pm.  Fortunately, I went back to the office anyways, so it worked out.  The flowers are gorgeous and Teh German is now forgiven for no delivery on my bday.

Because I'm a snob when it comes to brownies, Teh German and I had agreed after we'd finished dinner that we wanted dessert, but also wanted to go home.  I suggested that I make brownies and he agreed.  So while I was at the office picking up my laptop and flowers, Teh German went by the grocery story and picked up vanilla ice cream.  When I got home, I risked it and made brownies.

A few Gentle Readers might remember the Vday debacle of 2013 when I gave myself food poisoning from eating raw brownie batter on Feb 13th, which meant that I spent all of Feb 14th expelling my insides and killing any mystery in my relationship with Teh Bear, since he was in MD visiting me.

Risks were taken and it ended up being ok.  No food poisoning was obtained, despite my licking the stir spoon clean.  While brownies cooked, we watched Big Mouth.  Coincidentally, the brownies finished and I delivered a brownie with ice cream to Teh German on the couch and then the Big Mouth Valentine's special started playing.  I appreciated the coincidence.

While we had couch time, I worked on getting my new work computer set up to be ready to go for Monday.  Apps installed, etc.  Company IT had done most of the setup for me, so I just needed to install things like Slack and sign into Chrome to get my favorites, etc.

Since Teh German was working on Saturday at the former company, we went to bed at a reasonable time.  I wasn't disappointed.

SATURDAY

Saturday morning was a slow start, kinda.  Teh German didn't go into the office until 0930 because he had to go by the bank, so we slept in until Meri was a demanding asshole.  Teh German got up with the beasts and fed them.  He came back to bed for a bit and when his alarm went off, he got up and got ready.  I stayed in the bed for a little longer, scrolling, and then got up and got ready for the day, so I would be more motivated to do my German homework.

AND THEN, while I was eating breakfast, a Coworker messaged me and asked if I was interested in attending a workout with her and I said, sure why not.  She picked the workout that was at Commonhouse instead of Frothy Beard since that was closer to me.  It was a bootcamp circuit style workout and I didn't know what to expect so I went hard the entire time.. and then we ended with an AMRAP (as many reps as possible) and I was so gassed I rode the struggle bus for the 6 minute the AMRAP lasted.  But I survived, barely.

Included in the workout was a "free" beer from Commonhouse, "free" because I paid $15 for the workout, which was fine.  Commonhouse's tap list was completely full, which was nice.  I tasted the hefeweisen and it had that yeast roll after taste that I prefer and I ended up drinking (and enjoying) and entire pint of it.  The bartender also informed me they were going to start canning the hefeweisen this week, so that is exciting news for me.

The workout leader brought their Frenchies with them, and they were super adorable.

After the workout, I went home and hung out with the dogs.  I sat down to do homework and got zero things accomplished.  My head had started to hurt so I ended up on the couch, napping with Meri.  Teh German messaged me at 2:30 to tell me that he was coming home by 3.

So the reason for the bank visits was that Teh German found a motorcycle on FB Marketplace that he was interested in.  He had been stalking it for a while and seen the price go down about $2k.  The seller agreed to let Teh German come and check out the bike and take it for a test ride on Saturday afternoon since it was supposed to rain on Sunday.

I knew as soon as Teh German laid eyes on the bike that he was going to be bringing it home.  Teh German played hard to get, a little bit.  He had a millionty questions, which wasn't a bad thing.  While he took it on a ride, I stayed and the seller and I chatted.  He was an older-ish guy who took crazy good care of the bike.  He had even kept all the original parts that he'd replaced.  When Teh German got back, money was exchanged, the title was signed over, and I followed Teh German home in Baloo.  The best part about driving Baloo is that Teh German has Sirius XM, which means I get to listen to the BPM channel.

When we got home, photos were taken and then New Bike (name to come) was put into the garage for the night.  Leftovers were for dinner.  Teh German was looking at parts for New Bike, even thought he said he shouldn't.

We spent the evening watching Dark on Netflix, a suggestion from my entire German class.  Once we put the language into German and turned on the English subtitles, we were golden.  I really wasn't enjoying the English voiceovers.

SUNDAY

Sunday was a slow start.  Meri woke me up at 0700, like the diablo dog that she is.  Teh German was awake too, but we both went back to sleep until... 1030.  Oops.  It was fine.

We got up and made breakfast and then I tried to put in a Sam's order and couldn't.  I headed to the office to do my German homework while Teh German did tank things and rearranged the garage to fit all FOUR motorcycles AND Baloo (and Willow, of course).  Honestly, I'm turned on by his Tetris skills.  This isn't a permanent solution since the white bike (Suzi) will be sold eventually, but it's not a bad intermediate solution since Teh German only needs to pull Bagheera out to work comfortably at the work bench.

Around 3:15, I tried to make the Sam's order again and discovered that one (of the two) items I needed was out of stock, so that saved us a trip to Sam's.  I hit pause on German homework and told Teh German we should get our grocery store trip accomplished and he agreed.  We got ready and headed out to Food Lion, which I hadn't went into since it was a Bilo that went out of business.  While there, we saw and chatted with one of the GLCK, which was nice.  Not that we hadn't seen her recently, it was just a good, fulfilling, neighborly chat.

We headed home after the grocery store and ate dinner (porkloin in the crockpot, corn, and a grocery store impulse buy of potato salad).  Evening activities included: watching more Dark then an episode of Big Mouth to get in some LOLs and then it was bedtime.

A fantastic weekend for the books.

I'm proud of Teh German for accomplishing a dream.  Apparently, he's wanted a BMW 1000cc bike for a while and he made that happen.  Additionally, we're both still marveling over the fact that there are currently 6 motor vehicles in the garage, all of which are paid for AND FIT.  He did clarify multiple times that one bike would be departing us eventually.  But as long as Willow and Bagheera fit, I don't really care.

I've already told my Coworker that I'm down to do the Saturday workout again, whenever she's ready.  Our schedules don't mesh for the next few weeks, but I'm confident we'll get back eventually.  I started getting sore from the workout on Saturday evening, which was rough.  I spent Sunday hobbling around and stretching whenever possible and had Teh German use my percussion massager on my butt before bed.  He was very gleeful when he found my sore spots and got to press harder and cackle at my pain.  Thankfully, this morning I'm not nearly as sore as I was, which means I might get in a run this week before the 15k on Saturday with Teh Bestie and Matilda.

This week looks quiet, so we'll see what actually happens.
PS.  We're over halfway through February.  I'm sad/glad.  So far, this has been a turbulent month and the waters will continue to ripple as the events on the calendar come over the next few months.

80 days until graduation. :D

Weekend Review {12/16}

FRIDAY

I stayed home Friday morning and used the allotted time for a final to complete an online test that had been posted for a week, but I just hadn't had the time to accomplish.  It was fabulous to not have to get up and drive to somewhere and deal with all the CHS traffic.  After my test was finished, I messaged my PM and asked if it was necessary for me to come into the office because it was raining and I hadn't had to go to school for my exam since it was online, so could I just stay home, plskthx?

After getting a yes, I prepped lunch with a side of hot chocolate with lots of marshmallows and peppermint schnapps.

I managed to get so much accomplished around the house: making up the guest room for Matilda, laundry, swapping the chairs in the guest rooms.. etc.  It was fabulous.

Matilda arrived before we had to leave for my Company holiday party so we chatted as much as possible since it had been a year since we'd seen each other in person.  Teh German and I headed out to downtown for the holiday party, which was a bust, IMO.  It was supposed to be a murder mystery show, but our table couldn't hear to keep up with what was happening + an open bar = we were fucked.

We passed on the post-party-party and headed home since I had a race the next morning and Teh German isn't really partaking right now.

When we got home, Matilda was already in the bed, I laid out my race outfit and then it was bedtime for us too.

SATURDAY

Saturday morning the alarm went off at 0430.  It wasn't my favorite thing.  We were out the door by 0500 and headed to Kiawah.  We had our packets picked up and were settled in the common room by 0645.  Since the race didn't start until 0800, we chatted and while Matilda did her thing, I rested my eyes.  Then it was time for the race to start!

I stuck with Matilda at her pace and we ended up doing intervals of run/walks, which was fine.  We finished at 3:12:16.  I stayed with Matilda since she peer pressured me into the race and because she came all the way to Charleston to hang out with me and a good time wasn't more important than hanging out.

That said, for the Charleston Half, I'm running on my own because I want to see what my time is. Fingers crossed for under 2:30!

While Matilda took care of some post race business, I stretched and sent selfies to Teh Bestie and Husband.

I HAD to take a photo with Santa when we passed him because I had garnered so much attention during the race for being dressed as an elf.

After getting back to the car, we headed to Vicious Biscuit to meet Teh German for brunch.  By the time we made it home it was after 2:30.  After showers it was almost 4pm and that was too late for a post race nap.  Ironic, since I fell asleep on the couch at 7.  Oops.  This did not stop me from going to sleep at 11.

SUNDAY

Originally, we had planned to go to brunch on Sunday, but I couldn't decide on a place and I really wanted a potato skillet and we had all the ingredients, so Teh German and I agreed to make breakfast instead.  No photos because I was too excited, but trust me, fried potatoes + crumbled sausage + over medium eggs (+ cilantro for me) was DELICIOUS.. and I didn't have to pay restaurant prices or settle on substitutions.  #WIN

I had gotten up with the dogs and started studying for my Sunday final and took a break to make breakfast.  After breakfast, Matilda headed out and I headed back to the office to continue making my cheat sheet for my exam.

The final exam was at 1pm and it took a little over an hour.  After the exam, I headed to Walmart to pick up a few items (brownies, ice cream, a congrats card, and a gift cert).  Of course, despite my patience, it was not enough when I had to stand in line at customer service for almost 20 minutes for the gift cert.  Then when I got home the dogs acted like they had never seen me and my patience was too low for that.  TLDR, I had a mood swing probably because PMS is real.

I had my final final (ha) on Monday morning, so I tried to study for that and was mostly unsuccessful.  Eventually, Teh German and I made dinner (me: red cabbage, Teh German: schnitzel), ate, and then I whipped up some brownies and headed to the office to study while they baked.

It wasn't until after the brownies were finished that I finally started seriously studying.  I put in the most effort I could for the burned out state I have reached in regards to 2019/school.  It was full on "come what may" when I went to bed.

______________________________________________

First thing Monday was my exam and here's my post-final final selfie for your enjoyment.

DUN with this classroom and this shit.

In a fantastic turn of events, the Chiro's office called me as I walked to my car after my final.  She was reminding me of my appointment (which we had a mix up about last time) and notified me that the 1000 appointment cancelled and asked if I wanted that appointment. YAS, YAS I DO.  So I ended up getting a massage for over 2 hours (since I really needed it and because I paid for it).  #NOTSORRY

-This week is a regular work week!
-We will be having dinner with School Spouse and his fiance on Tuesday evening to deliver their baby/graduation/wedding/all things gift.
-Teh German's company holiday party is Friday.
-Teh PT Wife and I will be doing the Cocoa Cup 5k on Saturday morning.

I plan on getting a puzzle out soon and finishing up Dark Age this week, fingers crossed.  I'm at 44/50 books for the year and I might just press through some Audible short stories to meet my goal on principle and to also clear out my library of unfinished titles.

Over the break I plan on doing some running (when it's not hot AF (see: over 70°F)) and being lazy AF.  We'll be home this Christmas, which is exciting.  As a Merry Christmas to us, our new backsplash is being installed on the 23/24th.  Work will be having PJ days over the next 2 weeks (thank you, Self, for spearheading that morale boosting event).  I'm ready to relax some and not have to feel like I need to manage all the things at all the times.  My brain is already sighing.

Happy Holiday Season, Gentle Readers.

Weekend Review {02/04}

FRIDAY

Pre-birthday Friyay!  Work, then German class, then "beer lunch", then work, then home, then sushi for dinner, followed up by The Office until bedtime.

Teh Twins and Teh Twin Mom came to beer lunch with us.
I can't believe I've literally known a human being their entire life.
Also, how cute are they?!

These typos made me lol.  IDK why Asian restaurants don't find an English speaker to look over their menus before printing.
Calamary and cream chesse.
Yum.

SATURDAY

In order to stay trained up for the Myrtle Beach Half Marathon March 2, I signed up to do the Save the Lighthouse Half this year.  It wasn't overly expensive, so I was pleased.  It was a week after the 15k, so ya know, "training" and shit.

But I'll be honest, I was NOT excited about this race for lots of reasons.  Mainly, the course looked boring AF and after the 15k the week before being painfully boring, I wasn't excited about it.  Also, there had been ZERO pre-race communication.  NUN.  This was so alarming to me that I posted on the FB event page, and the Charleston Parks and Recreation (CHS P&R) FB account replied at that all the info was on the website.  Yep, I know that, but I've been running races since 2014 and this is the first time that I've not received anything before a race.  They hadn't even posted on the event page about packet pickup, so it was just weird.

Also, because the race was so small, packet pickup was only offered from 4-7 on Friday and then before the race.  I sure as shit wasn't driving down to Folly Beach on a Friday night to just pick up a packet and come all the way back home, so I waited until before the race.

I left home around 6:15 on Saturday morning.  Teh German had to work on Saturday so we woke up at normal M-F time, which was convenient.  I made it to Folly shortly after 7.  I was able to park for free at the Tides Hotel since the money collector hadn't set up yet, close to where packet pickup was and the start/finish.  It was a painless pickup.  With less than 300 participants (which would explain some other things), pickup was fast.  I was quite disappointed when I was told that I hadn't registered early enough to guarantee that I got a shirt, and that they had already run out of the size I'd requested.  I asked if I could get a different size and they told me they weren't allowed to do that.  Uhhh, wut?  Turns out, I wasn't the only one that had been shafted, and no one was pleased at the CHS P&R response that it was stated on the website.  Again, in previous races, if they ran out of your size, you could generally get a different size.  Masking my annoyance super well OR the lady who gave me my bib was an epic smartass, I finally gave up after the lady said, "Thank you for being so understanding."  Look, bitch, I'm not being understanding, it's 7am and I'd rather be asleep right now and fighting with you about a shirt isn't high on my list of priorities right now and I'm slated to be asleep in the backseat of my car within 15 minutes.

I took my bib and headed back to the car for Megan burrito time.  I set an alarm for 0810 so I could get up and get race ready and pee.

I made it to the start line with 5 minutes to spare and then we were off.

When I run races where the 5k goes along the same course as the longer distances, I never understand my life choices to do the longer distances and it's always such a temptation to do the shorter distance and spare my body the inevitable pain.

The race course wasn't as bad as I had expected it to be.  We did have to do a loop and repeat a majority of the course, but this worked out for me since I opted to stop and take some photos of fun things I'd seen along the way.  I guess if I compare Folly Beach and Sullivans Island, Folly definitely had more "fun" stuff along the course.

The course took us out to the lighthouse that they are wanting to save, and the paved path to the lighthouse had spray painted doodle on it that were cheesy at first, but when I saw this one, I finally got the attitude adjustment I needed.

I've encountered this lighthouse at several local races.  I'm not sure if it's always the same person, but it's still pretty impressive to carry that for 13 miles.

During my 2nd loop, I stopped to take photos of interesting things I'd seen along the way.  This was a nice break from the tedium.

919 also happens to be the area code of my phone number, which is the Raleigh/piedmont NC area.

This Wolfpack encouragement was parked at the "3.5 miles left" mark.
It was definitely much needed encouragement.

Sooo, it was a tiny medal.
I've definitely become a medal snob.

Teh German had planned to surprise me at the finish line, but I surprised everyone when I came in at 2:26, instead of my expected 2:30-2:45 time.  He had even picked up flowers and a happy birthday balloon.  I was kinda sad, but he gets credit for trying.

Instead, we met at Smokey Oak for lunch.

Post-race sweet tea is one of life's ultimate gifts.

After lunch, Teh German headed to the fish store to do salt water tank things and I headed home for a epsom salt bath and my post-race nap.

When I woke up from my nap, I took care of some laundry, of course.  Pax helped.  Of course.

When Teh German came home, I put my flowers in a vase while he "aquascaped" an actual term for setting up the rock formations in a tank of water.

I considered homework, but I took the birthday excuse and opted to not.  Instead, we had leftovers for dinner and watched The Office.  I did also get a wild hair up my ass and decided to make the box of brownies that I've had stashed in the pantry for decades, approximately.

If you're not aware, one of my life skills is making perfectly fudgy brownies.

I was pretty tired fairly early, considering I had a nap, so we were in bed by 10:30, like the old people we are.

SUNDAY = BIRTHDAY DAY!!!

Teh German and I had agreed on going to Millers All Day for brunch, which is special since 1- it's downtown, 2- we'd never been there before, 3- it'd been on my list of places to go for a hot minute.  So when Meri decided we were done with the sleeps at 8:45, we got up and got ready.

Teh German had taken my package from Teh Running Bestie out of it's hiding place for me by the time I made it downstairs.  Matilda and Teh Running Bestie got my special birthday ears!  #WIN

After opening my presents, we headed downtown.

Birthday perks = not having to pump my own gas.

We arrived to Millers right on time, shortly before 10.  Within 15 mins, there was a waitlist.  #LikeABoss.

I subbed out bacon for livermush.
YAAAAASSSSS.

After brunch, we went to the mall so I could redeem some Victoria's Secret coupons.  After waiting 30 minutes for them to open, I discovered that my $15 off coupon was MIA.  Uggggh.  I did redeem my free panty, and had them hold the bra I was going to purchase.  While I was standing in line, I had Teh German go and pull the car up.  I grabbed my VS card and my ID out of my wallet and handed it off to him so he would have the key (this is relevant later).

When we got home, I took a nap.  It was my birthday, so I do what I wawnt.  After nap time, I halfassed some homework.  I didn't get far into it when I decided to check my backpack for the missing coupon and found it.  Then I opted to go back to VS and pick up the bra that I had put on hold.

When I got to the mall, I got some cash from the ATM to tip the massage lady on Monday, and then headed to VS... where I discovered my ID and VS card were in the pocket of the jeans I'd been wearing earlier, which I had taken off to nap... instead of putting my jeans back on for homework, I put on some gym pants... and had opted to go to VS in that instead of changing since Teh German wasn't going with me.  #MeganFail.

Dejected, I left the mall and headed to Walmart for groceries/things.  I had texted Teh German of my trials and he had offered to bring me my cards, but I told him not to worry about it and I'd just go by VS on my way home on Monday.  BTW, they could have looked my card number up, IF I had my ID, but it was also in my pants.  By trying to be prepared the first time, I'd fucked myself later.  That's a pretty real analogy for my life.

When I got home around 5:45 from Walmart, I put away the groceries and we headed over to Teh PT House to watch the shittiest NFL event in a long time (i.e. the Super Bowl).  I had to rush Teh German out of the house to catch the National Anthem.  I socialized during the first half and critized through the halftime show (no, really, what WAS he doing with those weird hip moves?) and then I went home to do homework.

While I had been next door, Teh PT Kid gave me my birthday present from their trip to Universal: Slytherin magnetic bookmarks.  That kid gets me.  I was able to immediately put one to use after finishing some of my homework in the German book we're reading!  #WIN

Teh German came home around 10:30 and I was just finishing up.  We went to bed shortly after.

______________________________________________

Overall, a very relaxing weekend.  I mean, I took naps on Saturday and Sunday!  I was also smart and put KT tape on my left knee after the race, which REALLY helped me be able to use my leg on Sunday.  Next time, I'll tape both knees and see what happens.  Or I'll tape both knees for the race and leave it through the weekend for support.  We'll see.

Next weekend is the actual Megan's bday gathering.  We're meeting for dinner and then going ice skating!  WOOT!  I still need to determine a dinner location, order/pick up a cake or ice cream cake (ugh decisions are hard), pick up plates/eating things, etc.

This week includes actually catching up on homework.  Please, Lawd Jebus, I need the ability to give half a fuck so I can focus and pound out some homework.  I've been taking that birthday excuse VERY seriously.

Yesterday (Monday) was mostly a circus and they were my monkeys, so I had to wrangle.  A 2 hour massage turned into 3 hours since she didn't have a client after me (yes, I know, what a rough problem to have), but it meant missing some things that I had to catch up on later and missing class.  It also means that my entire body is a sore spot today (Tuesday), which is extra funny because Teh Sister is also an entire body sore spot for all her life.

I have my last? laser hair appointment on Friday morning, which is bittersweet (yay no hairs!  boo ouch!).  Saturday is homework and birthday gathering.  Sunday is recovery.

YAY for birfdays!
Also, if you reached out and sent birthday greeting, you da bestest and I appreciate you.
If you didn't, that's ok too, I still appreciate you as a Gentle Reader.  This is a no obligations situation.

Five on Friday #170

EINS - Random Shit

-Call me El Cheapo, but having to pay a $30 application fee to take a single class makes me kinda stabby.  College of Charleston didn't charge me an application fee and they are a university.  I applied at Trident Tech (a community college) (TTC) and was charged the app fee.  I guess now I know how they make their money...

-That $30 was wasted.  Well, earned then wasted.  Let me take you on a roller coaster ride.

I applied at TTC last week and hadn't yet received an email with the acceptance stuff.  The original plan was to take the 2nd half of my chemistry requirement there during the spring semester.  Theeeennn, Tuesday night, I realized they were offering that chem class I wanted RIGHT NOW, on Tues and Thurs (T/H) from 6-9pm.

I immediately went to Teh German and discussed the idea of taking a T/H class THIS semester with him.  I needed to make sure he was on board with me not being home T/H evenings.  He, of course, said, "Whatever you need to do."  I lost all kinds of sleep that night.

Wednesday, I filled out the transient student paperwork, went around campus trying to get signatures that weren't required, skipped German class and went to TTC to go sign up for the fall chemistry class.  My application still wasn't processed, so they had to earn their $30 and push it through.  Then I went through the registrar's office to sign up for the class.

At which point, it was revealed that the LAB was T/H from 6-9... The CLASS was Monday and Wednesday from 6-9.  That would make this class a 4 day a week commitment and I do not have that kind of time.  I need my evenings to do work and homework.    I still let the lady sign me up, even though there was much confusion in my brain.

I racked my brain on the drive from TTC to the office, trying to figure out how I could make it work... and came up with ONE solution, it wouldn't work.  AND, not only would it NOT work this semester, but it also wouldn't work in the spring semester either.  I called Teh German on my walk into the office.  He knows that middle of the day phone calls are usually nicht sehr gut (not so good), but a middle of the day phone call is definitely better than a middle of the day visit.

I explained that I had been to TTC and signed up for the class, but that it was actually Monday-Thursday and that just wasn't doable.  He agreed.  Then I dropped the bomb, "This means, I'll have to take this class during the summer."  I explained why and he agreed.  We also agreed that as long as we don't go out of the country during my summer break, it will be like I'm getting at least SOME summer break and not being stressed out.

When I got to the office, I went to explain to my boss that my scheduling situation had worked itself out and we were both relieved.  I had been stressing out about it since I'd first looked at the class offerings.  When I got to my desk, I emailed the lady who had registered me and explained that my job wouldn't work with a M-H class schedule so I, unfortunately, had to drop the class.

TL;DR: For 30 minutes of my life, I was enrolled in a community college class.

-The best thing about the chemistry class drama?  I'm RELIEVED.  Despite having to take a summer class, which I didn't want to do, it means that I don't spend the months up to the beginning of the spring semester stressing out about taking such a full load.  Then, I don't have to spend 2 months juggling SIX heavy (i.e. difficult) classes.  I can just focus on my classes now, and then my spring semester, and then my summer semester.  It means not having to stress about being in the office.  I literally felt my blood pressure slow down after I accepted the reality of summer class.

-I started listening to Harry Potter #1 because Teh PT Kid bought it at a book fair and I CANNOT WAIT to geek out on with him.  This is only my 2nd time "reading" HP, and this time, I'm doing the audio adventure and I'm loving it.  The first time was in 2012.  I'm not a hardcore Potterhead, but I do enjoy some HP references.

Know what else I enjoy?  All things Hagrid.

Harry: "I never know. What's the difference between a stalagmite and a stalactite?"
Hagrid: "Stalagmite's got an 'm' in it. An' don' ask me questions just now, I think I'm gonna be sick."

It's always different enjoying a book for the 2nd time.  You KNOW how it's going to end.  You KNOW that Snape isn't really the bad guy.  You KNOW that Dumbledore is... well, I just won't say it because thinking about it breaks my heart.

-WTF Firefox spell check.  Dumbledore is an acceptable word but Hagrid and Snape had to be added to the dictionary?  Prioritize, bitches.

-One of the greyhounds we're gonna hang out with Christmas was diagnosed with osteo (bone cancer) this week.  My heart breaks for her family, but we're being positive that it was caught quickly enough that measures can be taken to ensure a long, healthy life.

-HVAC update...  The service manager finally called me.  He knocked $100 off the price of the drip pan that WE have to pay to replace since it's not covered by the warranty and it's scheduled for Nov 5th.  There's no school that day since it's election day (GO FUCKING VOTE) and I'll just telework.

-Foot issues update.  My toe hasn't been hurting recently, which is nice.  After a follow up appointment with the podiatrist, we agreed that if I felt I needed a cortisone shot, I could call next week and come in and get it.  In the meantime, I'm on a rigorous diet of ibuprofen to reduce the swelling, I added a joint supplement to my daily pill regimen, and I'll continue rolling and stretching.  I also put in some support inserts in my running shoes, which eliminated all foot/toe pain for the left foot, but my BAD toe (from the 2016 incident) started to REALLY hurt.  I can't win for losing at this point.

-We FaceTimed with Auntie P this week.  I miss her.  I don't just say that because I know she reads this.  ;)

-I haven't admitted it to her, but Teh PT Wife has been on vacation all week and I've been counting down the days till she gets back.  I've been very good about letting her be on vacation and not snapping/messaging about real life (aka non-vacation) drama unless she messages me first.

DREI - From My Phone Shit

Apples are just a vessel.
Individual caramel cups always seemed excessive...
until I realized: PORTION CONTROL.

New edging and mulch for their weed flower beds.

Enchiladas for dinner!
So much belly happiness.

Brownie sundae from Sesame was deemed "soul food" by Teh German, which I knew meant that I needed to take care of that craving.

Doofus 1 and Doofus 2 changed into their matching halloween collars this week.
I'm considering them dressed up for halloween now.

The elusive Park Circle Greyhound that I am always on the lookout for.  I would have stopped to say hi, which I've done (more than once)  but I wanted to get home.

German dinner:
Schnitzel and Kasespatzle by Teh German
Rotkuhl (red cabbage) by me

My circuits partner decided that my colored pens needs to be fucked with.
So he switched all the inks and tops on the pens in no order so they are all randomized.
Sadly, I couldn't handle this, but only in regards to the ink.  So I moved the correct ink back into the correct barrel color, but left the wrong colored tops on.

I went to the bathroom to brush my teeth and the bed was made.
I came back 5 minutes later to this.
He's lucky he's cute.

MINNIE HOODIE BREAKOUT DAY!!!
YAAAASSSS!

I brought the inflatable dino costume in for Twin Dad to test out.  He walked around the office like this.

VIER - From the Internet Shit

FÜNF - Things that made me happy this week

  1. Resolving the chemistry class debacle.  So I'll have to take a summer class.  Fine.
  2. Rescheduling our anniversary massage to the 31st instead of the 30th.  This means I can cram for my tests the night before and not be as stressed.  AND I'll actually get to relax for my massage.
  3. My teacher returning an assignment to me when I turned it in early because I didn't do the assignment right.
  4. Parting my hair down the center on the first try for pigtails AND getting both buns up at a relatively even level on the first try.  #Miracles
  5. Cooler temps for runs.
  6. Hagrid.
  7. Determining doppelgangers for coworkers.  We had a Vizzini from Princess Bride and Billy Mays and a Hulk Hogan.
  8. Solid dinner picks this week.
  9. Accomplishing homework as early as possible to not have weekday homework as often as possible.
  10. Pre-wedding memories coming up on Facebook.

Happy Friday, Gentle Readers.
