Weekend Review {9/26}

FRIDAY

After work on Friday, I headed to Walmart to do some returns and pick up a few items that had been on the store list.  After, I headed home and hung out with the pups, waiting on Teh German to get home.  We had an excursion planned at Wild Blue Ropes, a rope challenge course.  I took a nap while I waited on Teh German to get home just in case.

We didn't hit as much traffic as we had anticipated which was nice.  We checked in, got harnessed up, got a refresher course on how the hooks worked, and we headed into the course.  There has been a pressure system hanging over Charleston since Hurricane Hermine rolled through, so we've been experiencing random rain showers throughout the day.  Friday was no exception.  Fortunately, the course stays open unless it's thundering/lightening.  So we were able to continue on despite the rain.   We were on the course for almost 2 hours and while it's fun, we were tired and our hands were sore and we were dripping wet.

Because the adult helmet was too big, I got a kid's helmet and pretty much transformed into a Minion.

If you make this picture big you'll be able to see the rain seriously coming down.
We were dripping.

Our end time was 7:40, but by 7:20 we were done.  We made our way across one last span and then repelled down.  We dropped off our gear and went to the car to fetch our spare clothes.  I had only brought spare clothes because I figured I'd be cold.  I did not anticipate being soaked through.  This meant having to deal with wet socks and shoes and free ballin' through dinner.  The worst part was my wet bra, which was leaving super sexy water marks on my shirt.

For months I've wanted to go to D'Allesandro's Pizza (D'Als (their name, not mine)) for pizza, but it's downtown and usually I think about it on a Friday/Saturday night and neither of us is really motivated to make a trip downtown for pizza at a place with limited seating.  I called as we were leaving Wild Blue Ropes to ask about the wait and when someone answered, they immediately said, "Please hold."  I was on hold for over a minute and told Teh German we could just risk it.

Miraculously, there were plenty of seats open when we got there.  When we checked in on Yelp, we noticed a deal, which is awesome.  We were starving so we ordered an appetizer and we both got a small pizza.

Cheesy garlic bread. NOMMMMM

Top: Teh German's supreme
Bottom: My El Bianco, no sauce, mozz and ricotta cheese with spinach, mushrooms, and pepperoni.

After we had sated our hunger, I inquired if they had cannolis and they didn't.  That makes only 1 thing about D'Als that I was disappointed about.  But, when I asked Teh German if we could make a pit stop for cannolis on the way home, he agreed.  He also admitted to never having a cannoli before and my heart hurt for him.

We stopped at DeSano Pizza for cannoli since I knew they had epic cannoli.  We ordered a white chocolate cannoli (Teh German) and amaretto cannoli (me).  When they were delivered, we got coconut and amaretto cannolis.  I explained that they weren't ours since we ordered something else (also I didn't realize what the amaretto looked like).  The guy who made them made up a white chocolate one and delivered it to the table.  So with 3 cannolis, we dove in.  Teh German thought they were too sweet (because he's a terrorist doesn't like sweets), but he tried all of them.  The amaretto was one of my better life choices.

The entire evening was filled with food wins so I was pumped to be able to have cannoli leftover to take home.

Back: Amaretto
Front: Coconut
Not pictured: White chocolate

NOMMMMMMMMMM.

After cannolis, we headed home to release the beasts, take a tramadol for my gimp toe, and head to bed.

SATURDAY

Saturday morning, Teh German had told Twin Dad he'd help him pick up furniture.  I had zero commitments, so I stayed in bed and read and napped.  I wasn't sure when Teh German would be home.  Eventually, I pulled myself from the bed.  I was productive and scooped poop since 1- it needed to be done, 2- Teh German wanted to do yard work when he got home, and 3- It was a perfect opportunity to listen to Dragonfly in Amber (my current audiobook).

Right before Teh German came home, Twin Mom asked me if I wanted to go to the Southern Women's Show since it was in CHS.  I had a ticket that a coworker had given me, but it was at work (which I learned later we don't have weekend access to our work space), and my motivation to get ready was seriously lacking.  I messaged Twin Mom and explained that my ticket was at work and I still hadn't left the house and she informed me the show wasn't all that great.

When Teh German suggested we ride to Buffalo Wild Wings for lunch and then go to Michael's and check out shadowboxes for the flag project, I said ok.

Love my Philalicious.

We rode through Charleston's finest on the way to BWW.  Teh German almost got merged into by a lady in a van who didn't even bother to check mirrors before she switched lanes.  Lunch was quicker than I anticipated since usually BWW is pretty slow.  Since it was Saturday, we were surrounded by college football fans.

After lunch, we headed to Michael's.  Before we left BWW, I had checked for Michael's coupons and noticed they were running 70% off custom framing, which is what we were doing.  SCORE.  There were a few people in front of us when we got there, so we patiently waited.  When it was our turn, the lady working at the desk was able to quickly help figure out our order.  While we were in the middle of discussing the flag project, I remembered my 8 Disney medals sitting at home that needed a display box.  I told her to remind me about medals when we finished discussing the flag box.  She was awesome and reminded me after we paid for the flag frame.

As I explained what I had and what I was looking for, she said that my best bet would be to bring the medals in so that way it would be easier to see/work with what would actually be going in the frame.  For 70% off, I was willing to make the extra trip out.  Teh German and I headed home.  Teh German changed and got started on yard work while I chatted with Teh Dad for a bit and then showered, gathered my medals/bibs, and headed out to Michael's again.

When I arrived (at a different location) around 5:30, there was only 1 guy working and I was 2nd in line.  Again, I patiently waited.  When it was my turn, I explained what I wanted and the guy helped me select a frame.  While he worked with the ladies that were in front of me, I worked on arranging the medals in a way that I liked and made sense, this was accomplished much easier after the guy brought me a piece of suede backing that would actually be like the backing of the box.

The guy had explained to me that there was someone else that normally worked on the shadow boxes and he'd prefer to have her ok on the project before finalized it.  I told him I just wanted to make sure I could get the 70% off.  A manager was called back and she actually called someone to ensure that we could do what we were thinking of.  In the end, they gave me an estimate for my frame and I agreed to come back the next day to see if the shadowbox master had any suggestions to make.  After I finished with the shadowbox layout, I selected some clearance frames (for those still unedited, unprinted Germany photos) and headed to the check out.

When I got home a little after 7:30, there were dogs in the house, but no humans.  Teh German hadn't been in the garage when I came in, so I checked the backyard and noticed that he was sitting out by the firepit with an empty chair beside him.  After setting all my stuff down, I poured myself some adult juice and headed out to fill the empty chair.

Despite being eaten by the most unappealing of SC's bug life, it was enjoyable to sit outside by the fire.  Teh German and I chatted about life and I brought up the awkward (to me) topic of eventually getting married.  I think he knew this conversation was bound to happen soon because I've been making off-hand comments about it more and more recently.

He admitted that he had thought about getting married, but that he was traditional and he'd ask parents and tell everyone before he did it.  While that was a reassurance, it was NOT reassuring when I asked him what his timeline was and he said he didn't have one.  In fact, my exact response was, "Well, that absolutely petrifies me."  I explained that I wasn't sure why I was so impatient, but then proceeded to talk through the reasons about why I was so impatient (I don't want to be a mom who is mistaken for a grandmother, I will not have kids till after I'm married, I don't want to get married and immediately start popping out babies).  He didn't really have much to say to these things, but to say them brought me a lot of relief since these things had been on my mind a lot over the last 2 months.

I also explained that some of the impatience was possibly pressure from other people in the form of them asking me/us when we were getting married and my lack of control over the entire thing since I was waiting on him to ask me.  I admitted that several people had asked after we got back from Germany and again after Disneyland, if we had gotten engaged.  I added that I worried he wouldn't feel motivated to ask since we pretty much live as if we're married already.  My final comment was regarding culture differences, how Americans are quicker to get married than Germans are and how that feeds into my lack of control.

Teh German accepted all these things and did eventually say, "within a year, probably," after I asked a rough estimation.  Part of me died a little at waiting so long, but part of me thought, "Well, at least I have a number."  I immediately started telling myself he was over-estimating to throw me off the trail of any plans he could possibly have already made.  I know, it's an idiot move, but dammit.  I'm practically a spinster over here, even by 2016 standards, and society won't shut the fuck up and I'd like some pretty bling, ok?!  Gosh.

After I was tired of getting eaten by the bugs (there are approximately 15 different bites all over various parts of my body (I was wearing short sleeves and jeans and shoes)) and the fire had pretty much died, we agreed to go in and go to bed.

While Teh German was showering, I did this puzzle that made me think of Beauty and the Beast.  This cabinet actually looks nothing like the cabinet from B&tB, but it looks like a French-esque style in my limited furniture knowledge.

Once we were in bed, I had one final thing to say about the getting married situation.  I told him part of me was impatient because I was certain about him.  That of all the guys I've dated, I felt like if I had married them, I would have been settling in some regard, but with him, there was no settling.  I don't need to tell myself something I thought was important isn't actually important to be with Teh German.  It's one of the biggest things that makes me feel so confident in our relationship.

Having said my piece, I slept peacefully for the first time in weeks.

SUNDAY

Sunday morning, we got up slowly.  We were set to go back to Michael's to get my estimate approved between noon and noon:30.  We had agreed after that to go see Pete's Dragon, finally.

I started the laundry, then went downstairs to make breakfast.  I made steak and eggs and learned that I'm really just not good at cooking in cast iron pan.  I want to be good at it, but I'm not.  Breakfast was bearable, barely, mostly due to the chewiness of the meat.  I also set up the crockpot to have dinner ready in the evening.

We got ready and headed to Michael's.  The shadowbox lady had no suggestions to make to my design, so I paid and we headed to the theater.  Pete's Dragon was not the same as the animated Pete's Dragon from the 70s.  The story was different, but still really good.  We were the only ones in the theater, so we were able to cry freely.  It made me giggle when Teh German pulled out a folded stack of kleenex he'd brought from home so we I could wipe away our my tears.

After the movie, we headed home and enjoyed a marathon session of HIMYM.  We paused for bathroom breaks, dinner, and letting the dogs out.  I will admit that as we were leaving the theater, I suggested that we should have snuck into Secret Life of Pets or another movie.

We headed to bed after completing our chores (dishes and laundry).

Other than the obviousness of our serious chat around the fireside, the weekend was excellent.  We knew that next weekend we'd be traveling, so relaxing was a top priority.

On Friday, I was productive and finally made an appointment with a podiatrist to get my toe checked out.  It's been 1 month since the Disneyland run and 2 months since I initially hurt it, so it is time.  This comes from Teh MD-AR suggesting I see a podiatrist rather than just saying I needed to go to the doctor.  For some reason, I'd forgotten that foot-specific doctors existed.  I knew that I didn't want to go to a general physician since it would be a waste of money.

I also was "productive" and picked 3 fictional characters to describe myself after seeing Allison's post.  I might have taken a little liberty with the last selection since she isn't really fictional.  If I had to replace her, I'd probably put in Michael from Office Space because I struggled to find other fictional characters to describe myself.  Or maybe Belle?  IDK.  Describing myself is hard.

Happy last week of September, Gentle Readers!

Weekend Review {8/10}

FRIDAY

I did NOT want to get out of the bed Friday morning.  So I slept until about 7 and finally forced myself to go to work.  I had to come back home around 11 since the owner was coming and someone from the property management company would be doing an inspection of the issues I submitted.  YAY working from home!

Turns out, all the stuff that was missing from the shed was actually stolen.  I was about 88% confident that the owner of the house was going to actually cry standing in the yard when he realized that it was all gone.  It was over $5000 dollars with of tools alone and then whatever else was in there (I'd assume several thousand more dollars worth of stuff).  I looked inside the shed when I viewed the house and you couldn't walk in the shed was so full.  When I moved in, it was practically empty.  He did say that after the stuff with the police is figured out, then I can use the shed for Mike.  So there's that silver lining.  I do feel really bad for the guy though.

I had planned on riding Monty and that never happened.  Instead I finished working, took a nap, and waited on Ginger Beard to inform me of the evening plans.

#ereaderproblems

Meri snuggles.

Eventually, I was instructed to arrive at his house 5 and then dinner would be after.  The parents were there.  They were nice.  It wasn't overly awkward.  But here's why: his parents are part of the greyhound cult.  When conversation lulled, we had the dogs to discuss and photos to be shared.  Additionally, although slightly awkward, it was GB's parent's 33 anniversary.  They were in town for his sister's graduation.  We ended up going to Taco Boy for dinner which was pretty delicious.  After, Ginger Beard and I walked to DeSano Pizza that was down the block and picked up cannolis for dessert.  Nommmmm.

Maybe not my best "meet the parents" outfit choice.
#allboobsallday

The different cannoli options

I've decided I'm totally going back to this place for pizza.  It smelled AHHHMAZING and Ginger Beard and I discussed that if we hadn't already eaten, we'd be eating pizza.

Traditional cannoli, which I wasn't able to finish because I was so full.
Ginger Beard held it hostage at his house after I accidentally left it there.

Since we were both on dog duty (he had his parents and sister's dogs at his house), we both headed home to take care of the respective hounds then it was bedtime.

SATURDAY

I was able to sleep in on Saturday and it was glorious.  After feeding the dogs I went back to bed and stayed there until 1000, when I had to get up and get ready to meet Teh German for a ride and lunch.  We rode out to Mount Pleasant to Carmen y Juans.  That place never disappoints.  I ordered the carnitas this time and it was totally worth it.  Yes, that means I had mexican 2 meals in a row.  #worthit

After lunch we rode through the forest and Teh German was super pumped about the curvy road that Mr. Scrooge took me to that I said wasn't overly fun the first time, but then it was fun..er the 2nd time.  On the way back into town, we stopped by Mr. Scrooge's house so I could check the mail and take out the garbage.  I have to go back later this week to take the garbage to the curb and check the mail again.  His house is just sooo far away now, ughhh.  I joke with Teh German that Mr. Scrooge's horrible ex-girlfriend had broke up with him and left him with this huge empty house.  Teh German was like, wasn't that you?  I said yes and laughed.

Teh German and I left and headed back to my house for doggy snuggles.  We started watching a Louis CK standup, but it was one from 2006 and it wasn't as funny as his more recent stuff.  Too many rape jokes.  I stopped the movie in the middle since we weren't amused and Teh German left.  Which meant naptime for me!

My new earbuds arrived!
Also, a hell yeah to the amazon app for letting me know my package was delivered.

I woke up a while later and knew I should run.  It didn't happen until around 8:40 when Teh German messaged me and asked me to come hang out with he and his friends.  I said yes, but had to get my run in first.  I had committed to 6-8 miles, which ended up being 9.  I also realized that I had no idea where Teh German was at or who he was with and I assumed that it was a group of dudes at one of their houses and my stranger danger alert went off and I wasn't as committed to going.

When I finally got home, I messaged him and said that I had ended up doing 9 miles instead of the 6-8 and I was wiped out and not gonna make it.  He didn't seem upset by that, which is good because it wouldn't have mattered since it was almost 11 when I got in the shower and nothing good happens after 11 on a Saturday night... so staying home was ok with me.  Also, I got underboob chafing again from my run and I just wanted to be perfectly still.

After my shower, I finished up my Sunday post and headed to bed.

SUNDAY

I slept in again.  I really should have went to bed after my run, but I fail at sleep.  I got up and went to church then went to Target after for a new hair dryer since mine has been acting strange lately.  I walked around the entire store looking for things to buy.  I was carrying around a new monster shower curtain and rug for the guest bathroom since Target had a spent $50 get a $10 off coupon going on, but something about paying $20 for a bathroom rug just wasn't appealing to me and I was having to search for another $10 to spend and wasn't doing very well.  I found a set of sheets, but I don't really need sheets, nor did I need a new monster bathroom set, so I put it all back, went to pick out a hair dryer, checked the clearance end caps and finally picked up a matching set of magnets that Teh MD Adult Roomie has as my impulse buy.  I felt proud of myself for not being tempted by all the things at Target, but at the same time, disappointed.

I messaged Teh Sister and told her to talk me down.

My kind of magnets.

I had strongly considered eating out for lunch, but I hadn't brought my Teh Flamin' Kindle to entertain me while I waited on food and since I was alone, I wasn't as motivated to go out without entertainment.  Also, I couldn't figure out where I wanted to go.  My indecision was crippling so I went home (I didn't even get starbucks at Target) and had an egg sammich for lunch and continued doing the laundry and worked on blog posts for the week.

I got motivated in the afternoon after a bit of reading (started Redeployed which is depressing as hell) and decided to finally take the dogs on their promised walk (with Meri on the gentle leader as punishment for making me get my new shoes muddy (and kinda stinky)).  After their walk, I decided that Yurtle was going to get the bath she's needed for the past 2 months.

Most of the day I'd been waiting on Ginger Beard to text me since he had mentioned going on a bike ride Sunday afternoon, but that text never came.  So when Teh German messaged me and asked me if I wanted to go to dinner, I said I'd research that and get back to him.  I waited another 30 minutes on GB to message me and nothing.  I knew he was working and I didn't want to be obnoxious with my texting.  I finally told Teh German yes, and of course, within 15 minutes, GB texted me that he was leaving work "soon."  I've learned that "soon" actually means within the next 2 hours.  I informed him that I was going out to dinner but I'd message him when I got home.

Teh German and I went to Red's Ice House, the same place I went to with Creepy-Side-Hugger-Dude.  I didn't actually realize that was the place we were going or I would have suggested somewhere else, honestly.  The food isn't really that good, but the people watching made up for it.  OMG, so much people watching.

This classy lady was even wearing a string of pearls AND DG earrings.

But that girl couldn't compete with the 2 cougars who were sitting at the bar in their bathing suits and crochet cover ups talking to a significant portion of the male clientele that walked past them.  #onthehunt

Teh German admitted he hadn't had sushi so I totally know what I'm suggesting for food next time we go out.  Teh German and I became friends on FB, possibly another too soon for me, but ya know, boundary pushing and whatever.  I did also learn that my assumptions about Saturday night were wrong, it wasn't a group of dudes, so that kind of eased my mind for the possibility of being invited out next time with his group of friends.  See, I can be concerned about my safety, even if normally I'm 95% reckless.

When I got back home from dinner, I messaged Ginger Beard and got no response, so no cannoli for me. /sadface.  I did finish up the laundry and spend more time reading.  It was a reading kind of weekend and it was very much enjoyable.  I also started How Should a Person Be? which I'm torn.  Part of me likes part of it, but most of me hates it and wants to be like WTF why is she writing such shit?  How did this get published?  Seriously within the first 10 pages there was some random section about blowjobs being an "art" and I almost just stopped there, but this is a book challenge book.  I can do it.  I really only started this because I needed something LESS depressing while I read Redeployment and the Short Stories from the South book is just weird and I know the GTMO book is going to piss me off.  #readerproblems

Overall, an excellent weekend.  Next weekend is the Tri!!!  I'm pretty sure my death is imminent, but first I'll get to hang out with Teh MD Adult Roomie, which makes it worth it.  I think I've also figured out my bra dilemma.  I'll just wear my suit during the swim, then put the bra on over my suit when I finish the swim and then do the trick where you take the swim suit top off and then put it back on OVER the bra.  Women will totally understand what I'm talking about here, sorry Dude Gentle Readers.  Also, probably should have thought of this before now.. but is there a way to switch activities in the middle of an activity on RunKeeper or should I just track the bike ride, then switch to a run during the transition?  Really, it's not that big of a deal, but OCD Megan likes to know these things in advance.

Weekend Review {4/20}

FRIDAY

I had planned on leaving work by noon to get to Durham in time for packet pick up for my 10-miler.  I should have known it wouldn't be that easy.  The ONE time I tell my boss that I'm flexing my hours and leaving early, is the ONE time he needs me to stay to work on something.  I tried not to be impatient, but I could FEEL the minute slipping by and my rush getting worse and worse.  He had asked me to wait until 1 to leave, which really would have put me in a bind and I explained to him that I wasn't just leaving to leave, I had to pick up my packet and I was already only giving myself an hour of leeway.  With him finally understand that I wasn't just trying to be a slacker, he was more willing to work with me, thankfully.  Have I mentioned lately how much I love my job?  I love my job.

I'm a good planner, so I was able to leave striaght from work instead of having to go home for anything.  I'm super glad I added some extra time for travel because I had to detour off 95 to avoid construction in northern SC.  It was kind of a win though because where the detour met the interstate again, gas was only $2.09.  This is relevant because last Tuesday, gas was $2.04, then on Thursday it was $2.17, then on Friday morning it was $2.23... so a HUGE jump!  No me gusta!  I got gas there and then got back on 95.  I stopped in Fayettenam at Teh Sister's house to drop off a desk since Teh Utah Specialist is going to start taking classes and expressed interest in having a desk and I happened to have one just sitting in the garage...

I didn't get to stay long, but I did stay long enough for my neph-dogs to thoroughly clean every orfice in my face with their tongues.  It might have been face rape.  But they are my neph-dogs and as long as there's no penises in my face, we're good.  I can deal with a solid.. tongue lashing.  bahah.

I took back roads to Chapel Hill from Fayettenam and, of course, I hit construction during Friday rush hour traffic.  That was a delight.  Despite all the set backs, I still managed to make it a little after 6 to packet pickup.  I got my bib and t-shirt and picked up a gel and a crash the party shirt (because no self-respecting NC State grad tolerates wearing Carolina blue when they have an option not to).

Solo photobooth time?  YES PLEASE.

I had been in contact with Lara throughout the day and after getting all my stuffs, we met for dinner at Bocci's.  Shrimp, scallops, and calamari in risotto?  Count me in.  I wish I would have asked for a white sauce, but it is what it is.  Of course, I had to end with a cannoli.  Lara got the cheesecake and we were both in awe over the strawberry swan.

After dinner and chatting about running and life and work and all the Carolina Douche* in our lives, it was time to call it a night.

I made it to Teh Advising Sister's house with no issues, showered, called Mr. Scrooge to chat for a bit, then it was time to crash.

*Carolina Douche is the new official term that Lara and her husband coined for dudes who wear "Southern" styles.  To include pants with embroidery or pants in weird colors (like salmon or pastels), bowties, cheap sunglasses that kinda look like Ray-Bans, and anything seersucker.  These individuals can often be found at your local fraternity and will commonly refer to each other as "bro."

SATURDAY

Saturday morning started early but I was able to get to Chapel Hill with no issues and only minimal traffic hassles.  BTW, the only time I will ever admit to following a crowd is when I have no idea where I'm going and I know that all the people in my vicinity are going to the same place as me.  I did stop following the crowd when I noticed that most people were turning to find parking and there was a sign that indicated there was more parking straight ahead.  Being the genius I am, I didn't go with the crowd.  I arrived at a parking garage and the kid directing traffic was doing a piss poor job and instead of going with everyone else and turning left, I went straight since the kid wasn't paying attention (and I didn't know not to).  I heard his whistle blaring as I went up the ramp and I slowed down, but since no one was coming after me, I continued on.  I was easily able to find parking in all the open spots!

Lara had gotten stuck in traffic, so I waited in Yurtle for a bit, then decided to make my way down to the start area.  Again, I had no idea where I was going, so I just followed all the other people with bibs on.  Because packet pickup was stupid and stretched across the mall, I didn't pick up any safety pins and Lara had brought some for me.  I took some selfies in the stadium and stretched while I was waiting on her.

It was my first time ever in the UNC stadium.  I was horrible at being in college.

Blogger selfies!  We failed at getting a photo together Friday night.

The Tarheel 10-Miler was pretty awesome... if you don't count mile 9, which was the Laurel Hill challenge.  I knew there was a challenge hill.  I knew it would be steep.  I knew it would be difficult.  I didn't know it was going to be at MILE LAST FREAKIN ONE or that it was the ENTIRE mile or that it was THAT difficult.  Holy Hera, I wanted to dieeeeee.  My pace had been awesome up to that point and I started running up and not even 15 seconds into the hill I was all NOPE, F that and started walking.  I was still trying to push myself because I knew how good my pace had been and I didn't want to loose that progress and my goal was to finish under 1:40.  I had made sure to open up my pace during the downhills as much as possible.  But the last quarter mile, I got a stitch in my side and I was having to walk when I would have normally been able to sprint out the end.  Death would have been preferable.  Nonetheless, I finished.

That last mile.. UGGGHHHHH.  And at least half of mile 7 was a pretty steep downhill, it was all the awesomes.

I plan to do a review of the race in a different post.  There were good and bad things and sadly most of the bad things were after the race finished.  To include only having 1 place to get water and that was immediately after you finished the race, that I could find.

After I walked through the stadium (and rolled at the physical therapy tent, YAY for foam rollers!) I headed back to Yurtle.  Lara had done the 4-miler, so she had finished way before me and headed home, and I didn't blame her.  After going through 3 parking garages, I finally found Yurtle.  I decided at that point that I wasn't going to wear my drenched shirt all the way to Fayettenam.  I pulled it off standing in the parking garage and didn't feel a little bit sorry after seeing all the itty-bitty titty committee members running only in a sports bra and some booty shorts.  I put on another shirt and then decided that I wasn't going to endure my soaking bra for 1.5 hours either, so I took that sucker off and free-boobed it all the way to Fayettenam.  Sadly, I didn't think of changing into my PJ pants for the drive, or I probably would have done that instead of sitting in my swamp ass pants.  Live and learn.

I headed to Teh Sister's house again, but this time for a shower.  I could have went back to Teh Advising Sister's apt, but it was the opposite direction and Teh Sister and I had already agreed to a Red Robin date.  Teh Sister was in class when I got there, but Teh Utah Specialist let me in and my neph-dogs accosted me while I rolled again in the living room floor.  At one point, I put the littlest weenie dog between my legs to keep him from licking my nostrils and Teh Utah Specialist laughed and me and said, "Heheheh, you have a weenie between your legs."  I fell off my roller laughing.

We met Teh Sister at Red Robin after getting ready and I was too hungry to take a photo of my delicious burger and once I realized I was a horrible blogger, my hands were already covered in grease and all sorts of deliciousness and I just couldn't be bothered since I was making sweet eating love to that burger.  I was a much nicer, satisfied person after consuming all those calories.

I left Fayettenam and headed back to Charleston.  When I arrived, Mr. Scrooge had went on a ride, but when he came home about 30 minutes after I arrived, he came with cannolis in hand, so he was forgiven.  I had planned for Mr. Scrooge to plan dinner since I knew I was going to be too tired.  We ended up going to sushi and it was delicious.  When we went home, I was exhausted so after checking my work email (since I needed to check and see about the Friday tasking thing, which wasn't sent until 3:30, so waiting until 1 would have been a waste anyways) it was bedtime soon after.

SUNDAY

Sunday morning Mr. Scrooge woke up at 1am and turned on the lights and I was pretty pissed off then I smelled IT.  The smell of putrid POOPSPLOSION.  It wasn't even worth trying to clean up by hand, so I pulled out the carpet cleaner and just cleaned the carpet.  Mr. Scrooge got dog food ready for breakfast since I had forgotten to do it before going to bed.  I also think I figured out the source of the POOPSPLOSION after seeing how much food he had given the dogs.  Have I mentioned how cute Mr. Scrooge is?  VERY cute.  He had given Meri and Xero the same amount of food as Phil... Let me put that into perspective for you.  The 30 and 40 pound dogs were getting the same amount of food as the 80 pound dog.  When I asked him how much he had given them and he admitted 1 scoop, it all kinda clicked together.  I asked him to fix it and he started putting the extra food in Phil's bowl...  Yeah.. no.  I finally was like, "Please just dump them all out and start again and if it's too much trouble, just leave it and I'll take care of it."  I said this as I was dumping poop water down the drain and cleaning out the scrub brushes, so he was wise to have just went back to the dog food and started over.

Finally, we all went back to bed.  At 6, the dogs woke me up and I fed them breakfast.  Mr. Scrooge had done at good job at measuring out the food this time.  As soon as the dogs were fed and had went business, I washed off their feet (since we have swamp yard again) and we all went back to bed.  Mr. Scrooge actually got up an hour before me, which is strange, but I let it happen so I could enjoy the whole bed.

We eventually decided on going out for lunch and then picking up something at the grocery store to make for dinner.  I finally decided on Hyman's Seafood Company.  It was delicious.  The staff was extremely friendly and helpful.  In addition to the server, the manager and the owner both stopped by our table to make sure everything was ok and to tell us if we didn't like something to speak up.  There wasn't anything not to like.

Boobies.

Fried Green Tomatoes, a free appetizer (yay, Yelp coupons that the server told us we had)

I had their shrimp and grits, which was the best evar and Mr. Scrooge ordered the combo plate.  We had planned to share, but Mr. Scrooge didn't eat his half of my plate, so I brought it with me to work today for lunch.. NOOOOOMMMMM.

After a delicious lunch, we headed to the commissary to pick up something for dinner.  Mr. Scrooge decided to cook ribs, which was fine with me.   While he was cooking the ribs and laying in the hammock being mosquito bait, I was inside scrubbing the bathroom for TWO HOURS.  I think I may have some extreme OCD tendencies when it comes to cleaning.  To the point that I used an old toothbrush to get in the grooves in the shower and scrubbed every single block with the scrubber side of a sponge.  I'm serious business.  It hadn't been super scrubbed in a few months, just kinda wiped down, so it was time for a deep clean.

After I finished cleaning, I helped Mr. Scrooge with the green beans and worked on the laundry.  Finally it was dinner time and it was too delicious to take a photo of, sorry not sorry.  Instead, I will give you a photo of my little girl and her adorable self.

It's a short week here since we're headed to Gettysburg, PA this week for Greyhound in Gettysburg!  I'm super pumped and I don't think Mr. Scrooge is prepared for the cult he's about to encounter.  I already have a super special Friday post scheduled... the long awaited ID photos post.  You should definitely check it out because you'll laugh.  Promise.

Happy Monday, Gentle Readers!

Music Monday #9 and Weekend Review {10/20}

Music Monday

can I decide another day?

I actually wanted to share this song after my weekend in PA but didn't know the name.  After some research, I have found it.  They played this during the service that I went to with Teh Raleigh Roomie.

Jesus Paid It All - Passion Worship Band

Moving and life transitions are difficult.  Between this song and Oceans by Hillsong United, I can't get enough.

Note: I didn't forget to tell you about the cruise.  Come back tomorrow to hear read all about it.

FRIDAY

I woke up early Friday morning to hit the road to meet Teh MD Adult Roomie to exchange the puppies.  On the way home, I stopped in Fayettenam to visit Teh Sister and let her meet Meri and hang out with her favorite nephdog.  It was a win for everyone because not only did she get time with my pups, I got time with Judge and Noodles, my nephdogs, and she made cannolis AND salmon patties for me.  NOMNOMNOM.

Honestly, I wasn't as ready as I could have been for them, which I mentioned in Friday's post (which I failed to link up anywhere, Megan fail).  I came home and was pulling out dog beds and setting up crates.  Neither Meri nor Phil cared about my plight.  They were happy to get to do zoomies in the backyard.

Ridin' in my car isn't as roomy as Teh MD Adult Roomie's.

Philbo braved the slippery floor like slippery floors never bothered him.
He's such a jerk.

Meri enjoyed toy diving.

Phil doesn't really understand "in the way."
He does understand, "move," which is very beneficial.

CANNOLI!!!

Noodles was gonna help me drive back to SC.

My little navigator was dozin' on the job.

The cutest view in my mirror.

Be still my heart.
I can't get enough of this photo.

Aunt Teh Sister gave Philbo a mustache stuffie for his birthday.
He liked it.

He also enjoyed his new yard.

Friday evening we were lazy.  Mr. Mystery grilled ribeyes for dinner and we watched Jurassic Park with captions.  That was a battle.  I'm a huge caption fan and Mr. Mystery says they are "distracting."  We finally came to the deal that the first time we watch a movie, it will be with no captions, after that, captions are on if I ask for them, unless he's being a dick....  I hadn't seen Jurassic Park all the way through, so it was a big deal for me to be watching it.

We were in bed by 9:30 that night.  Because it's been so cool, we've been leaving the bedroom window open and AC off as often as possible.  We heard the local high school marching band while we were laying in bed.  I told Mr. Mystery that we were officially old.  We laughed and then proceeded to continue check our phones and eventually went sleep.

We're old.  No fucks to give.

SATURDAY

We had plans to meet Teh SC House Finder and her husband, Teh Architect, for lunch at Sesame so we slept in and it was glorious.  The dogs did rouse me around 0630, but I knew if I fed them it would be after breakfast naptime.  We finally got up around 10 and had breakfast and I messed around on the internets and Mr. Mystery was playing his video games.

At 1230 we met Teh SC House Finder and Teh Architect.  We had to wait for our table and we were people watching the entire time.  I just can't get behind women with huge shoulder muscles that look like shoulder pads (actually, Teh MD Teenage Roomie gave me that terminology, she's great).  We saw 2 women in a group of crossfitters, of course, who had these shoulder pads and I couldn't wipe the look from my face.  I don't really like those muscles on a men either, so it's not a gender thing.

Huevos Rancheros with grits..
nomnomnom.

After lunch, we went back home to accomplish some tasks.  Mr. Mystery washed the truck and Yurtle and I built the media shelf and unpacked 2 boxes and did some laundry.  The dogs spend the afternoon running in and out of the house since we have the doors open since it's cool outside.  Meri ran up and down the fence line with the neighbor's dog and dug a few holes in the yard, which really wore her out.

She's just so cute.

It was a battle, and I had to watch a youtube video, but I made the damn baby gate work!

We decided to take up Teh SC House Finder on her offer to come hang out that evening and watch whatever football game was on.  We brought booze and Cards Against Humanity, which we sadly didn't get to play, but it was still a fun evening of meeting new people and hanging out.

Sunset on our way

One of the couples that was hanging out brought a blanket that had lots of lint balls on it.
They encouraged me to pick the entire blanket clean.  I barely made a dent, but I tried!

Around 10:30 we decided it was time to go since we had to drive the 30 minutes back home.  We definitely were out past our old people bedtime on Friday night!

SUNDAY

We slept in again on Sunday morning.  It was on the food menu to go to brunch that morning, so I found 2 options, Hominy Grill or Heart Kitchen.  We decided on Hominy Grill since we'd both heard about it, but when we pulled up to the restaurant, there were a mabillion people standing outside, who we assumed were waiting on a table.  I quickly pulled up the directions to the other restaurant, which was only a few minutes away and we had brunch there instead.  Heart Kitchen wasn't so bad, but it took forever for our food to come out and the place wasn't really that busy.  About 5-10 minutes before our food came out, I kept telling Mr. Mystery that I was hungry, which was how I knew it was taking a long time.  Usually I can keep those comments to myself.

Scarf weather!
It's my first time wearing my mickey scarf from DW, win!!

After brunch, we stopped by the grocery store to pick up stuff for Mr. Mystery to make chicken and dumpling soup.  We came home and had a lazy day.  The dogs enjoyed the open door policy again (Meri is going to hate it when it actually gets cold and we have the doors shut).  Mr. Mystery turned on Predator, which I was supposed to watch, but failed at.  For 2 reasons: 1.  I was trying to write this blog.  2.  He refused to turn on the subtitles for me.  It wouldn't have worked out had I been invested in the movie because Teh Dad called and later, I skyped with Teh MD Roomies.  Eventually, Mr. Mystery just turned on the football games.

Look what I learned from Olive!

She finally crashed later that night while I was on Skype with Teh MD Roomies.

We also discovered that Charleston has an AA hockey team, which means yay for getting to see some hockey.  Miss Reflective is always talking about the local AA team in her area and how fun it is to go to the games, which made me curious if we had a team in the area.  We do!  WIN!

Finally, it was time for bed.  Sadly, the weekend was over.   We didn't really accomplish all that I wanted to get done, but that's ok because it was a relaxing weekend overall.  Hopefully, I can accomplish some of these tasks this week while Mr. Mystery is at work, but some of the item are a team effort, so we'll see.  Anyone wanna come over and help me hang shit?  I pay in food and dog food and good company!
