Weekend Review {05/13}

FRIDAY

After class on Friday, I went with some schoolmates to lunch at What's Beef, a burger place with these crazy milkshakes that I'd seen on Yelp and knew I had to try.  Thankfully, I continue to be the person that finds the places to eat (I'm sure that will get old soon enough).  I have zero regrets about any of the calories I consumed.

Obama with my fave filter made me LOOOOL

The burger

A Nutella covered churro(ish) donut on top of a milkshake, which tasted kinda like cookies and creme.
Yes, it's ok to be jealous.

Thankfully, my schoolmates shared the dessert with me, since we were all pretty full from eating our messy ass burgers.  After lunch, we went back to school.  I peed and then headed to the train station to catch my train back to the flat so I could chill at home before my 4:00 massage appointment.

After getting settled in and checking in on work things, even though Friday is not a work day, it was time to leave.  The massage place is less than 1 minute from door to door, so I wasn't super worried.  I arrived about 5 minutes early and a lady led me to a room and left me for a bit.  I could hear that she was with another client.  She came in at 3 minutes after apologizing that she was late and would need a few more minutes.  I told her (in German) that I had all night.  There were a few more times she had to leave the room during my session, but I kinda chalked it up as a difference.  When I was finished, I had booked a 2 hour session because it was only 60€, she only charged me for 90 mins.  I tried to give her the 70€ I had planned on giving her (because that was all the cash I had and I wasn't sure of the tipping status for massage in Germany) but she gave me back the 20€ and I made an appointment for a 90 minute session after the run at the end of the month.

After, I went back to the flat and chilled in my room, fucking off on the internet and listening to Alexa and smelling of Patchouli.  When I finally decided to buckle down and do my German HW, I was so distracted by the smell, that instead, I went and took a bath and drank my tea in the bath.

After I got out of the bath, I did most of my HW and then I got ready for bed since it was almost time to talk to Teh German.  Teh German texted that he was leaving work, which means it's time for our chat, and we chatted while he drove to the gym.

Sometimes we also text throughout the day, but these calls are really critical for my survival.  I'm a strong, independent, woman, but being away from my person is difficult.  I enjoy our pre-bedtime/post-work chats because it's like our normal evening chat after we get home when we catch up on the day and discuss what is coming.  I know I'm missing out on things and I don't get to see/hear the dogs, but THIS consistency (or at least getting to talk to Teh German once a day) is very important to me.  Adventures are great, but this is me pulling out my long-distance relationship rule book again.

After our chat, it was my bedtime.

SATURDAY

I did zero productive things on Saturday and it was awesome.  At one point, I tried to self-guilt myself because I am in Germany and I should do awesome things!... But no.  Yeah, I'm in Germany and I should do awesome things, but I've also been sick for a week and it was supposed to rain all day (and then it fucking didn't, rude).

I woke up and had some toast for breakfast and then came back to my room with some tea to watch Ken Jeong's standup on Netflix.  It was super underwhelming and I only actually lol-ed one time.  After the movie, I was briefly tempted to download World of Warcraft (because FREE TIME!) but then didn't feel like dealing with the download that would take half my life on this godforsaken internet and so I played Paperclips instead.  And then I took a nap.

I had told myself that after my nap, I'd get up and go on a run.. buttttt Teh German messaged me while I was asleep and asked what I was doing.  When I woke up, I told him I had been napping.  He asked if I wanted to video and I said yep.  We videoed for a while and he showed me his new toy (a drone) and we chatted about things that were going on and he encouraged me to get out of the house and discover things.. and I strongly considered it..

And then, I didn't.
Because, y'all, I don't really have plans for any more do nothing days while I'm in Germany.  I'm thinking of taking a trip next weekend to Amsterdam.  The weekend after that is my run and Teh German arrives.  The weekend after that, we'll be headed south for family time.
And... I have been annoyingly sick.  I didn't feel bad, per say, but the runny nose/clogged sinuses/annoying cough is old and I'm over it.
Also, it would have been after 6pm when I arrived to the destination I wanted to go to.. and they were only open until 7..
(Insert more excuses here...)

So instead, I played Paperclips for the rest of the evening until I beat the game, and then I went to bed at midnight.

SUNDAY

Sunday was tourist day.  I met with two of our German friends and we had brunch (and watched several people have coffee spilled all over them by a server).

After brunch, we headed to Düsseldorf's Altstadt (old town) for some touristy things.  After parking, we walked the Rhine and we headed to the Düsseldorf Media Tower as our first stop.  GREAT views of the entire city.  It was awesome.

After walking the Rhine "boardwalk", we went into the Altstadt and then to Königsallee to walk by the ridiculously expensive shopping places (Tiffany's, Chanel, Louis Vitton, etc etc etc).  They were all closed since it was Sunday, but that didn't make a difference to us.

Art is a huge part of Düsseldorf culture, so there are many art museums and statues around town.  I had seen this statue on Google when searching for things to do in Düsseldorf, so I had to make sure to get a photo.  PS.  There were many photos taken, but they are on the camera and that's a project for another month.  🤷

After we'd walked through Altstadt, we got bored and decided that we'd go to Köln (Cologne) and do touristy things.

Our first stop in Köln was a SUPER huge church called Dom.  Fun fact: I didn't realize until after I got home and was talking with Teh German that "the Dom" was the name of the church we had went to.  I thought the church had a name that I hadn't heard or didn't see and we were looking for an actual dome of some sort that was a tourist attraction.  #LanguageBarrier looool

I got plenty of good camera photos of the Dom, but not a single one with my phone.  #Yolo bitches.  I did find a book store!  Of course.

We weren't really hungry, but I explained that I hadn't had a "real" bretzel yet, since I didn't count the one from the train station as a "real" pretzel, so we stopped and picked up a pretzel to share.  Köln and Düsseldorf are rivals so we also had to stop and get a Kolsch beer, which Köln is known for (while Düsseldorf is known for Altbier (a dark beer)).  Teh German Runner and I agreed that we both prefer Pils(ner) as our beer of choice.  I say that, because Pils is usually what goes into a Radler, which is the "beer" that I drink (it's really beer + Sprite).

After our snack time, we headed towards the Rhine (yep, again. The Rhine runs south through west Germany, then back east on the border between Germany and Switzerland, to Bodensee (which we visited in 2016), and then goes south into Switzerland) to walk along the water again.  We trekked over the bridge with the love locks, through a park, reaching our final destination: the Köln gondola.

We rode the Gondola to the other side of the river, then we took the rain back to the city center area and eventually headed back to Düsseldorf for dinner.  We did do drive-by of the Media Tower in Köln, which has been closed to visitors for a long time, so we didn't go inside...

Someone had made a suggestion to eat at the oldest Altbier brewery (in Düsseldorf) for dinner, so that's what we did.

My pig knuckle with sourkraut and mashed potatoes.
Those are tomatoes, not cherries.

Dinner was heavy (as expected), but delicious.  After dinner, we decided to walk to a place I had discovered on Yelp named "Zum goldenen Einhorn" (the golden unicorn).  The menu seemed pretty good but we were full.  So we headed back to the Rhine and then back to the garage where the car was parked.... but not before picking up an ice cream for the walk back..

Erdbeere Eis ist lecker!
Strawberry ice cream is tasty!

Thankfully, I didn't have to take the train all day, despite my offers to take the train, which meant no getting lost and having to deal with the train situation that is always a debacle.  German friends dropped me off (and they picked me up in the AM) at the flat.  We made plans for Tuesday evening to have dinner at Zum goldenes Einhorn.  Then, we have our run on the 26th, and we'll do something with the 4 of us once Teh German arrives in Germany.

I will say that I haven't felt lonely in Germany.  I mean, I could let myself get there because there's a lot of things I don't know, but I know I have family here, and that is a HUGE comfort.  Mama G and Auntie P and Papa G and some of our German friends have reached out to me before I came and while I've been here and it's a comfort to know that if I do need anything, a translator or getting found after taking the wrong train, there are people here who can help me.  Obviously, I have Teh German too, but his capacity is limited when he's across the pond.

After getting settled, I video chatted with Teh German for a bit and then it was bedtime.

______________________________________________

A very good weekend.  I mean, can a weekend that starts with a massage (that was so thorough I had to take advil the following day because I was so sore) be bad?  Maybe, but not this time!  Lol.

A lazy day and a busy day was exactly what I didn't know I needed.  I'm finally feeling almost 100% again.  My nose isn't as clogged as it was and I am still hacking shit up, but it's not nearly as persistent as it was last week.  Teh German even noted the difference Sunday night about how much better I sounded and how little I was coughing.

This week is full of activities.
Today: Study like a fiend day.  Do the HW I didn't get to over the weekend (not super important, but OCD says I must do it).  I also checked out some books to start studying for the final exam.  Also, my host lady and I will be cooking Reibekuchen tonight (it's like potato pancakes).  Woot!
Tuesday: Dinner with German Friends.
Wednesday: Stammtisch
Thursday: Game night at Goethe
Friday/Weekend: Amsterdam?  IDK about this yet, but I'm leaning towards yes.  Fear is saying, "But you're alone and have boobs." But I've looked at articles online that say that it's safe for solo women to be in Amsterdam.  I'm trying to talk myself INTO this and not out of it.. as I'm known to do, which happens to be super annoying.  I've never done a travel by myself thing, so this would be a good opportunity and Amsterdam speaks good English, so I'd be fine, but the unknown is a scary place.

Also, I really should get some runs in before like.. the actual race day.
Just walking around on Sunday made my knee supppper achy.  So achy in fact it woke me up in the middle of the night on Sunday and I had to get up and take some advil to get back to sleep.  #OldAF

Five on Friday #153

EINS - Random Shit

-I've given up on finding good lint balls since the discovery of cotton ball lint balls.  This is actually good.  The problem is that I've been losing a lot of lint balls because I've been wearing clothing without pockets.  When I don't have pockets, I store my lint ball in my bra.  The problem is when I take off my bra, sayyy at the doc's office for xrays, and forget the lint ball is there and then discover that my lint ball is missing later.  #MeganProblems

-Teh German's office did a World Cup buy in.  This is great.  Building team morale and shit.  Teh German spent hours on his winner and score selections.  Seriously, he was sitting at the island comparing his phone and his iPad and taking notes on the different teams.  It was intense.  We've since learned that Teh German is no longer allowed to make betting selections.  #WinSomeLoseSome

-My blogging motivation has been low, low, low, low, looooooooowwwwwww.  This means that Honeymoon post 2 isn't done because the photos haven't been edited and at this point, I'm about to say fuck it and I'll just post unedited photos.  That's where I'm at in life.

side story: I was searching for a Flo-Ride Low gif and Rob Lowe came up instead and I was certain I had made a good life choice.. So now you get a Rob Lowe gif(s) instead.  I love any excuse to share my Old Man Crush.

-All that made me miss The West Wing.. and now I want to watch that..  It doesn't help that Arrested Development is annoying me (we're into season 2 and it's the same story line over and over and over and ovvvveeerrrrrrrr).  Also, I really want to watch The Americans, but the last time I tried that, there was an unexpected rape scene that wasn't good for me and we never picked it back up.

-There's only 2 weeks until summer school starts and SHE WASN'T READY.

-The action cameras we used on our dive trip are awesome... except for the part where the date was wrong and now my photo order is fucked up and it's driving me insane.  There's no way that I have figured out to correct the metadata, so I just have to deal with the 2015 time stamp on a quarter of the photos and then the incorrect 2018 date on the remaining 75%.  Also, my cell phone time was off and my camera time was wonky too.  For my DSLR and cell phone it was International Date Line problems and for my cell phone specifically, I didn't have service the entire time we were in Australia, so it didn't automatically update the time/date..  I know in real life, none of these things matter, but when you're an OCD freak like me.. IT MATTERS.  #AllDatesMatter

-I was looking at the Netflix releases for July and discovered that they made a show for my Philbo and I didn't even know it.  I wonder how much bread they feed him?

-(Update) Honeymoon Post #2 is scheduled.  It was a painful process.  I finally said fuck you to editing photos and you get what you get around these parts.  Some of the underwater photos are edited, some are not.  Nothing about underwater photography is simple because of the lack of red under the water.  If that doesn't make any sense, don't worry about it.

-If you actually visit the website to read posts, you'll see that I have changed up the blog template some.  It's still a work in progress, but it's complicated.  You'd think that these computer science classes would help me but they don't.  I'm still just as inept as this as always.  In fact, now it's worse because this is a different language than I learned (Java) and the theme is new and there's not a lot of things on the Googly to help me do what I want that are helpful.  Woe is me.

-Teh PT Wife came over last night to help me puzzle for almost an hour.  Maybe it just felt like it, but I think we got a lot accomplished.  After she left, I put all the loose pieces back in the box to go through one by one and put them in their proper character pile.  This isn't the El Diablo puzzle from last year, but it's close.  It helps that it's Disney and I love it.

-We've tossed around the idea of checking out the 9 Rounds workout place.  It's 30 minute HIIT workouts and I'm highly interested, except the part where I have to pay $75 a month.  But I really want to drop this "happiness fluff" (aka post-wedding fat) and I have to do something extra to get it off.  I'm not talking about being super skinny, I just want my clothes to fit again without being uncomfortable.

-I posted the old patio furniture on FB Marketplace on Wednesday evening.  There didn't seem to be much real interest in it, but then last night a man messaged me after 8pm and asked me my bottom line price and said he'd come pick it up tonight.  DONE.  He arrived at 9:30 and it was past my bedtime and I had a headache from hell, but I was pumped to get the furniture out of the garage and so was Teh German, so we didn't consider the late pickup an inconveneince.

DREI - From My Phone Shit

What did Aunt Jemima say when she ran out of pancakes?
How waffle.

Bought some silicone/reusable straws.
I'm going to be that lady that uses her own straws at restaurants now.

I don't have a photo of all the new patio furniture, but do I have a photo of this guy being sexy enjoying his new spot on the back porch.

I made spätzle from SCRATCH this week.
I believe my German family would be proud.
Teh German said that it was good and he used it to make käsespätzle (aka German mac and cheese).
I think it may have had too much nutmeg.  I need an actual German to tell me the from scratch recipe.
I refuse to buy the noodles from the store since a small pack is $5 and I can make triple the amount for $1 worth of ingredients at home.

Käsespätzle, Spargel (aspargus) und Steak

Progress.

This monster... acting as my arm rest just so I would pet her.

Hooks for hanging shit have been my jam lately.
I also purchased cubicle hooks to hang my bag on instead of it flopping everywhere all over my desk.

I went in for the cottage cheese things...
And this is what I left with.
You're welcome for the doughnuts, Coworkers.

It's national take your pet to work day and not only did I forget, which is probably for the best since Pax would probably eat this bait dog, but this dog whines and whines when his owner isn't within sight and it has noisy tags.
In good news, this dog has completely cleaned up all the crumbs under my desk and he stopped barking/growling at me after I told him to.  Hard limit there, buddy, you won't be growling at me when I'm in my space.

VIER - From the Internet Shit

FÜNF - Things that made me happy this week

  1. New patio furniture/Teh German happiness over new patio furniture.
  2. Starting watching The Man in the High Castle, which is dark AF.
  3. Surprise gifts for friends, even if they are simple things, which means I can call us all hookers (because the gift was hooks to hang shit on).
  4. Catching up with old friends.
  5. Puzzling
  6. Power walks in the morning with Teh PT Wife.
  7. FIFA at work
  8. Summer break and no class and less stress.
  9. GI Bill taking care of my school business.
  10. The insurance policy I got for Roomy the Roomba.

Happy Friday, Gentle Readers.

Weekend Review {9/25}

FRIDAY

By Friday I was really dragging, so before class started, I hit up the not-Starbucks Starbucks (the "we brew Starbucks coffee type place) at the library.  I made a poor life choice to get the large peppermint mocha.

My German teacher complimented me on my essay that I had written for my test and we discussed how I'd been doing Duolingo German lessons for 2 years.  I explained that it didn't really help with knowing grammar, but I had a pretty decent elementary level vocabulary.  We also discussed where Teh German is from and where she is from.  It was good to finally unload that whole "don't be THAT impressed by me."

My 2nd class is computer science, where we were having a test, which was the real reason that I got the coffee, I wanted to be alert enough to process the questions.  Yeah, I was definitely alert.  I was jittery from too much caffeine.  Those jitters lasted through my math class and halfway through chemistry.

After classes were complete, I headed to work for a few hours.  I wasn't able to complete my task that I was working on since I needed answers from other people and I was trying to get home so Teh German and I could ride together to dance lessons.  When I got home, we had a few minutes to unwind and then we fed the beasts and headed to West Ashley.

For the first time, we finally nailed our dance, which made both of us really excited.  Now we just need to keep practicing and maybe not look like robots while we move around.  We'll see.  We're totally going to embrace the Logo figurine look.

After dance lessons, we headed to Buffalo Wild Wings for dinner, per Teh German's suggestion.  It was loud and cold and generally very much BWW.  We both paid for that life choice and I'm hoping that we get to avoid BWW for another long stretch.

When we got home, Teh German headed over to Teh PT House for cigar time and I stayed home.  Teh German encouraged me NOT to do homework, since he said I could use a brain break.  Per his suggestion, I did not do homework.  Instead, I got ready for bed and read in the bed until around 10:30.  Teh German said he came home around 11:15 and I didn't even hear any of it.

SATURDAY

We got a slow start on Saturday morning, which started with a Meri-rrito.

She wasn't complaining.

We didn't really have any plans for the day, besides me doing homework (for the rest of my life).  Teh German had said he wanted to work on projects, but he was slow to get motivated.  Eventually though, he did head outside and start working on his pallet project.  I was able to finish my math homework in record time (because I think I might be starting to understand it a wee bit) and I started working on my chemistry cheat sheet (allowed), but then said F this to take the dogs on a walk.  We had arranged to go to dinner with Teh AF Maintainer and Teh Dental Hygienist and I figured since we would be out late, tired dogs wouldn't hurt.

We did 1.4 miles and both dogs were super tired.  SUCCESS.  We headed to dinner around 6:45.  We had picked California Dreaming as our dinner destination and I was excited because I'd never been there before.

The croissants changed my life.

We ended up sitting outside, which was good except for the fact that there were no lights, so we had 2 cell phone flashes turned on with cups of water over them to disperse the light.  Teh German's genius idea.

After dinner, we headed home and Teh German announced that he was going to have a campfire.  Teh Dental Hygienist and Teh AF Maintainer came over for that.  Teh German prides himself on his fire skills, and it was a good fire.

Around midnight, we finally called it a night and our guests headed home and we headed to bed.

SUNDAY

Sunday inadvertently became "MegMo Day".  We had brunch with our wedding planner and since it wasn't a mabillionty degrees, we rode Bagheera and Suzi.  After brunch, since it was so nice out, Teh German asked if I wanted to ride instead of going straight home.  I agreed and we did a "Charleston tour" and then rode through the Francis Marion forest.  It was a several hour ride and both of our butts were hurting.  We stopped about halfway and gave our butts a break and I peed in the woods.  At least my childhood trained me for that.

When we got home, it was homework time.  I studied for my chem test on Monday and finished up my cheat sheet.  Tiny writing, FTW.  After homework was complete, I asked Teh German if he wanted to go to the grocery store with me and he agreed.  It did NOT work out in my favor since our grocery bill doubled due to beer, lol.

Teh German suggested Chinese for dinner since it was next door, so he went to order while I was checking out.  We took it to go and ate after putting everything away.  After dinner, we watched the final episode of Parks and Rec.  I made the executive decision that we would watch Mad Men next since it's now available on Netflix.  Around this time, we both started regretting the Chinese food decision.  Ugh.  This is why I make the food choices.

But, it was bedtime after that.
Weekend, finis.

______________________________________________

Today, I decided to ride to school.. This was good and bad.  Good because the weather is absolutely perfect for riding right now.  Bad because my BJB is acting up and really hurting.  I have my first chemistry test at 11 and I'm as ready as I can be.  My cheat sheet is thorough, so that should help, fingers crossed.  I also brought a snack to eat so I don't get hunger stupidity.

This week includes a lot of wedding decisions/tasks, homework (of course), and my final dress fitting (hopefully).

Happy end-of-September, Gentle Readers.

Five on Friday #113

EINS

What I've watched this week on Netflix:
-Atlantis: The Lost Empire
-The Jungle Book (live-action)
-Grey's Anatomy, a handful of episodes from Season 12, because leaving the country in 2010 put me perpetually behind with all things entertainment.

I also pulled out some DVDs to watch in the next few weeks (since I'm home all day and I'm about to start school and still be working and my life is going to pretty much go down the drain).  Those DVDs include Mad Men, the last season in 2 parts (grumble), Disney's The Princess and the Frog, and Disney's Beauty and the Beast.  I need to order the live-action Beauty and the Beast, but it's not high on my list after the Amazon haul I did this week to make some shower spray... and my puzzles arrived.  Whatever.

ZWEI

Things for buying:
-a new laptop.  Ugh.  The hinge is broken on my current laptop and I don't really dig the idea of using my work computer for school.  I will wait until the beginning of August when tech shit goes on sale though, but for right now, I'm window shopping.  This is gross because it's going to be a lot of dollars and spending lots of dollas always makes me irritable.

-Disney movies.  Always and forever.

-Collective Soul, Our Lady Peace, and Tonic concert tickets for Saturday.  I'm seriously going to try to peer pressure Timo (and others) into going on Saturday night because the tickets aren't that much and 90s bands and what else do we have to do?  I'm obviously still making up for missing DCFC and Ellie Goulding and some others last year.  #notsorry

-Wedding things.  Actually, I'm trying to actively avoid thinking about wedding things because it stresses me out that I know decisions are coming that I can't make yet.

-Alterations for my wedding dress (that apparently needs a name since it's a "she") that arrived to the shop on Thursday.  I think I'm going to go visit "her" this weekend.

-Eating out (that counts right?).  I'm thinking we need to brunch this weekend, but IDK where yet.  Sitting at home all the day long really makes me feel like I need to go out more.  #teleworkingproblems

-The 1 year Audible membership for $99.  You better believe I used my other Amazon account to get that deal.  #savindollas  I seriously wish Audible had a reference reward or general rewards for all the money I've spent.  Siiiiiiigh.

-Disney Villian stamps.  Shout out to Twin Mom for sharing this very valuable information with me on the FBs.  You better believe I pre-ordered some of those bitches.  In fact, 3 sheets worth.  #notsorry  I would have stocked up on the Pixar stamps if I'd have known they were going away a few years ago.  #LessonLearned #DisneyLife

DREI

From the phone:

I informed Teh German, AGAIN, that we have a can lid. So he can use the can lid on and completely remove the tin top. When I went to eat these for lunch, I took the lid off and saw this. It was good he wasn't home. There was a lot of rage. I'll just chalk it up to #languagebarrier...

We have a bird's nest in one of our hanging plants!  Roux's Humom actually was the first to notice, but when the plant was on the ground the other day, I finally got to see it!... and realize that the camera install guys suck at that "it will be like we were never here" thing... Put things back where you got them and no one gets cut. I'm really hoping that Mama Bird didn't desert the nest or get eaten in the few days that the plant was on the ground (Mon to Thurs).  Teh German hung the basket back up where it should have been.  Fingers crossed.

Super pumped this baby came back.  Teh Mom and I planted this one last year and it brings me joy.

Passionflower vine is out of control!  I love it!  I am kind of afraid it's going to take over those purple flowers beside it, so I might need to move those..

Being crippled = not being able to weed the flower beds.  I know it needs to happen.
BTW, Teh German tried to tell me the plant in the bed, at the back on the left was dead.  HA!  I was right!

Lurve these!

Fuzz face.

Pax and his Lamby.

Teh German said he apologized to the frog.  #oops

VIER

Random things:

-Steph shared a link this week about how pro-lifers should be called anti-abortionist and while a lot of it is very subjective and I question the statistics, but this line struck a chord with me:
There are certainly going to be people who will reply to this by shouting, “then women should keep their damn legs shut.”  No. Go crawl back to the time capsule you came out of. Ninety-five percent of Americans have pre-marital sex. Nine months of unwanted pain and possibly death is not an acceptable punishment for being unlucky while engaging in an almost universally practiced past time. It is the punishment for 0 percent of men, which is the correct percentage.

-In my SYUB linkup post, I talked about Dear Ijeawele, or A Feminist Manifesto in Fifteen Suggestions by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, a short book (50pgs), that everyone needs to read.  It included these quotes which keep reverberating through my brain and I love it...
“Your feminist premise should be: I matter. I matter equally. Not “if only.” Not “as long as.” I matter equally. Full stop.”
“Teach her that the idea of 'gender roles' is absolute nonsense. Do not ever tell her that she should or should not do something because she is a girl. 'Because you are a girl' is never reason for anything. Ever.”
And my favorite, #sorrynotsorry, Teh German..
“The knowledge of cooking does not come pre-installed in a vagina.”

-I need to make these Fruity Pebble/marshmallow/cake bars.

-The soon-to-be-released TJR novel currently has a Goodreads giveaway.  Not that I want you to be my competition, but this is probably the ONE books I've signed up for as a giveaway that I would actually read the day it arrives.

FÜNF

10 things that made me happy this week:
  1. Two-ish weeks left on crutches.  I'm ready to set these things on fire.  It's too bad they aren't the old wooden ones.
  2. Being validated at work that I was right and someone else was wrong.
  3. Driving to the butcher for steaks on Thursday.  It's less than 10 minutes away on low traffic roads, do not panic.
  4. Being able to pop my back in my hip brace.
  5. Mex 1 on Wednesday night as an outing because I was going stir crazy and may have been lashing out at Teh German.. oops.
  6. Meri snuggles.
  7. Teh German's patience and helpfulness this week around the house.
  8. My wedding dress finally coming in.
  9. Matching the Turvis lids to their cups again... I was trying to just ignore it, but I couldn't any longer. #OCD.  Bonus: Teh German didn't even make fun of me when I explained it after he asked why I hadn't done anything with the red lid he took off another cup.  #HeGetsMe
  10. New puzzles!

Happy Friday, Gentle Readers.
