Weekend Review {12/02}

FRIDAY

Friday was tattoo day.  I switched up the concept a little and I'm not disappointed.  Originally, I had said no color.. and I made myself a liar.  Oh well.

It was a long day.  I made it home by 11 (yes, pm), and it was put my shit down and bedtime.

SATURDAY

Saturday was productive day.  We had a slow start.  Once I finally got up, I had breakfast and placed the grocery orders and started on homework... and by that I mean, I managed to probably screw up some stuff for our group project that I don't know how to undo.  Oops.  I finally quit while I was ahead.  I finished up my final paper for another class.  When Teh German came in from mowing the yard, I finally gave up on trying to be school productive.

Teh German and I agreed to go to Sesame for dinner and then go pick up the grocery orders.  Our server at Sesame was an absolute nightmare, which makes me sad because this seems to be the trend of late.  We managed to pick up our groceries at both Sam's and Walmart and then headed home.

When we got home, it was dog snuggle and Modern Family time and eventually, bedtime.

SUNDAY

Sunday morning was another slow start.  Since I knew that trying to do homework would only result in 1- my frustration, 2- me fucking more shit up, I opted to stay away from the computer for the day.  Instead, we had a disagreement about paint and then we ended up still going to Lowe's to get paint samples.  We also bought a fake tree, which I thought would never happen since Teh German has always been #TeamRealTree.  What this really means is that one day he'll relent and let me put my childhood ornaments on the downstairs tree.  This was not that day.

The other thing we purchased at Lowe's was an appointment for someone to come put in a backsplash in the kitchen.  I'm not sure what home improvement bug crawled up my ass and died to motivate me in all these ways, but fucking FINALLY.

When we got home from Lowe's, we unloaded Baloo and Teh German moved Suzi out of the way so I could unearth the Christmas totes from the storage closet.  Teh German set up his new fake tree and I did the other house decorations.

My absolute favorite part of pulling out the Christmas decorations is these dog antlers that I purchased for Phil a millionty years ago.  Meri absolutely hates these things and I expected the same reaction from Pax.  Nope, he was cool as a cucumber.  Meri was as awkward as always.

When you corner your husband and hold the fake mistletoe over your head for forced kisses.
#ThisIsMarriage

Final results of our efforts:

Teh German was done with his decorating way before I was.  He enjoyed a cigar outside with Teh PT Husband while I enjoyed a Trap Christmas* Spotify playlist and continuing my decorating ministrations.

Despite having such a busy day, when we finally went to bed, I couldn't get to sleep and once I did, my sleeps were shitty.  #HateHateHate

*I like Christmas music, but I hate hearing what sounds like the same versions over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.. so the trap versions are a great alternative for me when I'm not in the mood for classic Christmas.. and I get to shake my booty to Christmas music... #WinWin

A very unintentional productive weekend.  I am excited to start putting paint swipes on the walls, but due to decorating, it didn't happen.  I could have done some swipes then decorated while the brushes dried, but it was just too much effort and I wanted to focus on ONE thing (a rare occurrence for me), so that's what I did.

I'm pumped the Christmas decorations are up because once the semester ends, I'm not going to want to do anything, which is usually why Christmas decorations have been minimal in years past.  Also, I need to do it when I'm feeling in the spirit, which was Sunday.  So it's d.u.n.

The backsplash purchase was a splurge.  Teh German has been talking about doing it himself for a while... but honestly, it seemed like a real frustrating project to me and when I saw that you can pay Lowe's to contract someone to do it for you for only $300, I was sold.  This means #1: no frustrated German noises that put me in crisis/disaster recovery mode.. but also: no frustrated measuring, no multiple trips to buy more of an item, having someone else get all the necessary items and then.. THEY DO IT FOR US.  Like, #MINDBLOWN.  We have a house account for things exactly like this AND this was a planned home improvement that we just hadn't made happen yet.  Soooo, trigger pulled.

Paint swatches probably won't happen until next week or later, depending on how school productive I can be this week.  We'll see.  I want to put random paint swatches on the walls though, so the motivation is there, but I'm lacking in time because the end of the semester is barreling through my life like the Amtrak train.  Truthfully, it's not that I've got that much going on, but I have 2 big projects that aren't complete.  Both are partner/group projects, one just needs to be done and we're working on it (now), but had some HUGE technical set backs when my partner's power supply in his desktop blew AND he, inconveniently, left his laptop charger in GA over Thanksgiving.  The other project is a disaster.  I have no idea what I'm actually doing because test-driven/behavior-driven development is theoretically cool, but my worst nightmare in Ruby on Rails.. and if none of that made any sense to you, it's fine... same.

The best news from this hell semester is that I only have 2 final exams, since the rest of my classes had final projects.  I'm hoping that one of them will be online since our scheduled exam time is on a Sunday at 1pm.. WTTFF?? Thanks, Obama Hurrication.

And finally... there's a horrible combination of no-fucks-to-give + senioritis that I'm enduring right now.. and the struggle is rreeeeaaaallllllllllllllll.

This week includes:
-Computer Science major test
-Friday test
-project screenshots (for the project we have had all semester, but started Monday, it's college, mkay?)

Next week is the final week of class.  #JesusTaketheWheel.

Five on Friday #142

EINS - Random things

-Without school, I feel like I have nothing to bitch about.  It's fabulous.
JK, I have plenty to bitch about.  LIIIIIKKKKEEEEEEEEE...

-The fact that Meri has hookworms.  FML.  FML.  FML.  4 extra dogs arrived at my house on Weds and we're scoopin' shit all the time and uuuggghhhhhhhh.  Also, if Meri has them, it means Pax probably does too.  Fuuuccckk myyyyy liiiiiiifffeeeeeee.

-When the dentist office called me on Tuesday afternoon to tell me I could come in early.  It was about an hour before my appointment, so I left about 10 minutes later and arrived for the appointment 30 minutes early... AND THENNNNNNN.. proceeded to wait and wait and wait until my actual appointment time.  I was livid.  Don't fucking call me and tell me I can come early if you can't get me in until my appointment time.  That is time of my life that my ass could have been sitting in my house, where I like to be.

It also fueled the fire that my hygienist was a sadist that kept making me bleed then acting confused when I finally was like, "STOP."  I'll be making sure that she will not be my hygienist next time.

-I am riding the struggle bus with the news that I need to have a molar pulled (remember that poor baby that broke while I was eating a piece of bacon last year?).  As in, I am 32 and I'll be missing a tooth.  This is extra difficult for me because I have a thing about teeth.  I'm judgy about teeth.  I know, that's not ok, but I can admit my faults.  Several people have pointed out that at least it's not a front tooth and it's not a root canal/crown... but ya'll I'm going to be missing a tooth.  The principle of the matter is what is bothering me.  Since it's a molar there is no need to get an implant/etc and since it's in the back and so close to the jaw bone, an oral surgeon has to remove it.

-My 2 hour massage on Wednesday to celebrate Spring Break/midterm grades/Treat Yo Self/Because I felt like it was ffffffaaannnnnnntastic.  I went ahead and scheduled another massage with her for exam week.  The next appointment is only an hour, but the lady was awesome and if you're local, Brandy is amazing.  PS.  10% off if you check in on Yelp, which I found out after the fact and didn't even mind.
Bonus: She accepts HSA!  #GAMEON

-$158 at the vet for 2 rounds of dewormer for Meri and Pax.  AND I inquired about the fact that we never received Phil's paw print and they said that they mailed it out and if it didn't arrive, they don't know what happened to it.  Gentle Readers, I was fucking crushed.  And ragey.. and all the feelings and I was trying not to cry.

-#1 reason why I bought a cheap laptop for Teh Granny: She's contact me no less than 3 times this week to tell me that she "can't figure out how to get her pictures up."  In 2018 terms: She can't figure out how to run the slide show of the pictures I saved to the laptop.  TL;DR: She is primarily using the laptop to watch a slide show of images I saved to the computer.  I love her, obviously, which is why after I left the vet, I called her to give her precise directions on how to do what she was trying to do, even though I wasn't exactly sure what it was until she got excited.  #GranddaughterOfTheYear #Favorite

-I've gotten rather... "fluffy" since the wedding.  As in, gained 10-15 lbs depending on the day/time of the month/poor eating choices I've made.  2 things about this.
1- I bought one of those waist trainer belts.  While I feel more confident about my flab rolls not rolling out every where, it makes me cranky.  Apparently, having my inside squished and it being mildly more effort to breathe doesn't make me a nice person.
2- On my run this morning I thought I was going to diiiiiiieeeee. Carrying around extra weight for normal day-to-day operations isn't actually that bad.. but carrying around that weight for "strenuous" activities is a bit more intense.  Holy shit.  This is why it's bad to let your pets be overweight.  Same applies to your body.  I seriously need more energy/awake time during the day so I can properly cardio because I don't see my dessert habit going anywhere anytime soon.

-I bought a new oven on an impulse and it's Teh Chief Smartass's (Teh Running Besties "we're not putting labels on it" person) fault.  You see, what had happened wasssssssss... He's in the market for a new fridge but hadn't seen it in person.  So we went to Lowes and Home Depot to view some in person and I have this bad habit when I go into the appliance section that I buy things.  There was a red washer and dryer in the walking path on super sale and I texted all the GLCK neighbors and was like, anyone want/need a washer/dryer, these are awesome!!!  They acknowledged me for who I am (weird, random, and quirky) but no one took me up on it.  Sad, we could have been paternal laundry twins.

Instead, I did stumble upon a range that I strongly desired and I sent Teh German a photo and he wasn't really for it, but didn't really try to dissuade me.  But honestly, it probably wouldn't have mattered since I fucking hhhhaaaatttteee our oven and actually go out of my way to NOT use it.  The oven we have right now is shiiittttayy because the sensor is right beside the heating element so when the oven beeps that it's "at" 400 degrees, it's actually only at ~300°F in the cooking zone (since I don't actually cook anything 1 inch from the heating element).  This has always been an issue and Whirlpool DGAF and said that it's operating as it should.  Yes, poorly.  So.  Without Teh German's blessing, I bought a new range and I'm excited about it and want it yesterday and now it's out of stock at Lowe's and I'm going to have to wait a mabillionty years (no less than 2 weeks) for it to ship and I'm disappointed.

When this conversation happened, I loled:

-I'm listening to Hillbilly Elegy and I'm loving it.  I can't describe why.  I cried when Mamaw died.  I might just write and entire post about that book.  Probably not, but I considered it.

-The i5k is next week and I'm pumped and debating on if I'm going to dress up or not.  Many people nerds dress up, so I'm considering pulling Super Hero Stitch from the closet.

DREI - Things from my phone

Lunch with coworkers on Monday at Butcher and the Bee.

Fries, hummus, and bacon wrapped figs.
I was surprised at how delicious it was.

Teh German and I split a wishbone equally.
Then he was super sweet and said I could have the wish.
Then I was super cheesy and posted on FB about it and said that I didn't need to make a wish since my wish had already come true.
We've always been this sappy.

Found some cute kitchen decorations at Walmart by accident.
Teh German approved and put them up the same day, which was how I knew he really liked my choices.

Pi-day joke and celebration.
What do you call a snake that is 3.14 meters long?

When your coworker needs a room to pump in and options are limited so you make do by adding a curtain for privacy, a lamp for coziness, and a sign to thwart other people from using the room.
PS. Unicorn tape dispenser and rainbow tape were a birthday gift from Teh Running Bestie!

Snuggles with my fuzzy monkey.  /swoon

RocknRoll Chicago weekend is calendar official!
We have flights!

Pax and Olive playing tug of war together..
It lasted until Pax won because Olive gave up.  :\

My new range.. which may arrive sometime in the next year.  UGH.
But seriously, it is ordered.

What it looks like to leash up 5 dogs to go on a walk.

This girl's eyes are stunning and I love her and having a white dog on the slumber balls has been giving me brain winkles because of Phil.

Please read the sign above his head to completely understand this photo.

We went to Lewis Barbecue for dinner last night and it was our first time and it was ahhhmazing.

Teh German had already eaten his sandwich.

This girl!  /Lurve.

Weekend Review {1/8}

FRIDAY

I got up and worked on Friday.  Teh German stayed in bed and I finally had to yell at him to get him to come downstairs because "MY COFFEE WON'T MAKE ITSELF!"  #notsorry  Back story: I tried to make coffee recently and it was horrible and I used too much coffee and not enough water and I'm pretty sure that you could have stood up a knife in it because it was so strong...  After that, I told Teh German that he was officially the coffee maker and I admitted defeat.

While I worked, Teh German worked on green card paperwork and I broke down and filled out one of the forms for him, since it was all my information and it was easier than transcribing to him.  He was irritated at how quickly I was able to fill out the form and I had to remind him of all the security clearance paperwork I've done over the years.  He also didn't like when I used my VX-1 job against him and gave him advice on how to best fill out the forms.

In the evening, we went out to dinner with Roux's Humom and Mr. Golfer and Teh PT Family.  We were all going stir crazy, so I made a few calls to see who was open and we agreed on a local place that I hadn't been to before.

When we got home at 7:30, Teh German took to the couch and watched the Stingrays game while I puzzled and listened to my audiobook.

I ended up finally going to bed around 0130.  Oops.

SATURDAY

Saturday morning we got a slow start and Teh German and I made a plan to go to Sam's and take care of some shopping.  We decided to peruse the aisles and we accidentally fell in love with a liquor cabinet that we silently agreed we needed.  As Teh German got the cabinet loaded into the truck, I finished up the rest of the shopping.  We had planned to go to Lidl, but Teh German didn't want to leave the cabinet in the back of the truck, so we headed home.

Roux's Humom was watching Frozen for the first time while we were in Sam's and she was live texting it to me.
I found this big Elsa head pillow a fitting selfie to send her.

We went through the disastrous process of unloading the cabinet and getting it set up (it was already assembled, but we had to balance the feet and put it where we wanted).  If you've ever dealt with another human being you will understand me when I say, I take an exuberant amount of pleasure when I make a suggestion for a way to do something, the suggestion is aggressively shunned, and then something happens and it's completely not your fault AND it wouldn't have happened at all if things had been done the way you suggested...  Yeah, well.. that happened when Teh German chipped the bottom of the cabinet because he'd leaned it over instead of flipping it over like I suggested.  I didn't say a single word AND I didn't even smile.  But you can bet Inner Megan was being her snarkiest.  Fortunately, he was able to glue the chipped piece back on and you can't really tell AND it's on the not visible side.

We had plans with the Street Cool Kids at 6 for a birthday gathering and we trekked through the cold and arrived at 6:25.  We ended up leaving around 0255.  Oops.  #PartyAnimals

SUNDAY

Since it was a late night, I didn't sleep in because why would I do something like that?  I woke up at 0930 and messaged Teh PT Wife and propositioned her for brunch and shopping.  She took me up on it and we headed to Charleston Cafe and Deli for brunch and then we headed to At Home for several hours.  We also made a stop at Lidl to pick up some items that I hadn't gotten at Sam's because too much is a thing.  Once we got home and unloaded the car, we walked the beasts with Roux's Humom.  After that, Teh PT Wife and I agreed that we should order Chinese for dinner and watch Guardians of the Galaxy 2.. and so it was.

My dog is a groundhog, or a mole, or any other vermin that burrows into the ground.

Teh German is Max's favorite human I think.
Look at that smile in the top picture.

Evolution of the Devil's Puzzle:

Slow and steady wins the race.

We still have snow on the ground and it makes me smile every time I see it.  Even though I was behind several morons this morning who were unable to drive in icy conditions.

Teh Running Bestie and Teh Soccer Mom will be here in a few days!  YAY!

I think my phone shipped.  I think.  I'll find out if it arrives tomorrow.

I got a million and one (i.e. 2) returns to send back to Amazon and Teh German needs to go to the post office and I have a return for Walmart and JCPenny.  UUUUGGGHHHH.

I am on the hunt for chairs for the bedrooms.  Apparently, 2018 is my year to NEST.  I'm making our house a home and I'm decorating and shit.  Nesting isn't just for pregnant women, so before that thought bubble surfaces, let me go ahead and pop it.  NO.  I'm thinking that 2018 is the year for painting and such too!  Teh German is already quivering in his boots.  #notsorry

School starts on Wednesday.  My Photoshop syllabus actually states, "Clowning around" during week 3.  Yes please and thank you very much.  I just finished signing up for the Bio class that I was hoping would be full so I couldn't take it.. buttt now I can and I will.  Ugh.  Getting shit done.  I don't think my boss is going to be too thrilled about me missing my morning meeting every day... #oops.

Weekend Review {12/11}

What?  A weekend review on a Monday?  Don't worry, I'm just as surprised as you are..

Here's a brief show of things that you may have missed out on:

We decorated for Christmas.
This pained Teh German since Germans wait until MUCH closer to Christmas to decorate.
It was not allowed this year since we were hosting the neighborhood holiday gathering.

This made us cry.
Teh German even came in my office after I posted it on instagram to give me a hug and cry a little with me.

We went to a friend's annual holiday party and this was the entertainment, pre-white elephant exchange.

I ran some miles.

My peppermint lights on my desk bring me great joy when I open the office.

Pre-FRIDAY

Wednesday was my last day of class for the semester.  That evening, Teh PT Wife and I went out for dinner and we went to the mall so I could use some coupons I'd received.  Honestly, I needed a break from all the things and it was perfect.  Also, I got new smelly things from Bath and Body Works and new bras from VS.

Thursday, I worked, but used some precious PTO time to leave have lunch with Teh German (which did not go well at all), then went home to clean.  The cleaner stood us up on Wednesday and I was stressed about it since we had people coming to our house on Saturday evening.  I really needed to study, but I knew that if I tried to study, I would only be thinking of cleaning, so I made a trade-off.  I had almost finished the upstairs when Teh German came home.

Teh German volunteered to help clean and I tasked him with our bathroom sink, which I was looking least forward to.  I should have gave him more tasks, but instead put it on myself and went downstairs to study.  Teh German took care of dinner, which was good, and then it was back to studying.

FRIDAY

Instead of going into the office Friday morning, I teleworked until it was time to head to campus for my exams.  I got up at regular time so I would actually be productive.  This is also why there was a drive-by blog on Friday morning.

My computer science exam was from 1-4.
My discrete math exam was from 5:30-8:30.

I had intentions to swing by the Chiro's office on Friday before my exams, but failed at that.  I also failed at studying for my math exam.  #YOLO.  I tried to look over some stuff before the exam, but I was DONE with all of it.

Fortunately, my math exam wasn't anything I found impossible, so I stumbled through it and walked out at 7:45 feeling confident that I had done my best, but more importantly, what's done is done.

I called Teh German who had been on standby.  We agreed to meet at Sam's Club to pick up items for the neighborhood holiday gathering and then go to dinner.  Teh German hadn't eaten enough snacks, so he was a bit hangry, but he survived Sam's and then we headed to Sesame for dinner.

Shenanigans at Sam's...

I had eaten leftovers before my math exam so I didn't get the hunger stupids, so I had an adult milkshake and a fry.

We asked for our check and a manager came to our table to explain that we were part of a pay it forward chain.  What this meant was that someone else had covered our bill.  We wanted to keep it going, so we selected a table to pay for.  They wanted to keep it going but it was almost closing time and there wasn't anyone else in the restaurant for them to pay for.  Faith in humanity restored a little more.

Park Circle Christmas Tree

When we got home, I went to bed.  Teh German stayed up and I have no recollection of him even coming to bed, but Pax did give me a rude awakening around 3:30 (actually, it wasn't Pax that woke me, but Teh German jerking awake, which woke me) puking up chunks of the cheese stick he'd been chewing on earlier.  I considered just leaving until later to clean up, but got up and let the beasts out and cleaned it up.

SATURDAY

I got to sleep for another hour after cleaning up Pax's mess.  My alarm was set for 0430 so I could make it to Kiawah Island for my half marathon.  It took me an hour to get there, but it was recommended runners arrive by 0630 to make sure that they were able to get a shuttle and be at the start line on time since the race started at 0800 on the dot.

In a stroke of genius, I had grabbed a dog blanket to wrap myself in while I waited for the race to start.  Since it was under 40°F and had been raining for the prior 36 hours, it was totally worth it and several people commented that it was a great idea (as they stood there shivering).  When the shuttle dropped us off at the start area, they had opened up the club house and runners were sitting a meeting space on the floor.  They were sitting.  I took the opportunity to take a nap.  I knew I was super tired since I was able to sleep with noise and goings on around me.  This is usually not the case.  I woke up once when a lady started leading stretches around 0700 and I went back to sleep and when I woke up, the room was mostly empty.  It was about 10 minutes until start time.  I don't know what woke me up, but I'm glad.  I kinda hope that someone would have woken me up if I hadn't woke up on my own right on time.  I folded up the dog blanket that I had gotten to use as a pillow instead of a blanket and left it in a corner.  I figured if I came back by I could pick it up, if not, then it was ok to donate since I had gotten it from a thrift store to begin with.

I made a new friend at the start line when I struck up a conversation with her because she was wearing a Run Disney shirt.  We even exchanged phone numbers!  It made the first 6 miles soo much better.  Unfortunately, my (formerly) super awesome earbuds turned themselves off (since I hadn't used them since I was chatting with Friend) and I couldn't get them to turn back on (because they don't turn on unless they have been on the charger if they have been turned off).  It's complicated.  Anyways, the last 7 miles, I spent striking up conversations with strangers and enjoying the run without my earbuds in (which makes it much easier to interact with those runners around you).  I was sad because it was hours I could have devoted to my audiobook, but glad because it really made the run better.

Eventually, I came upon the finish line.  I grabbed a bowl of soup and some water.  I scarfed down my soup and passed off my beer ticket to an unassuming large bearded dude who was waiting in the beer line since I knew I wasn't going to be using it.  Then, I headed towards the shuttle.  I had no idea where I was, so I opted to leave the blanket behind.

I hadn't parked in the designated parking area because I hadn't wanted to wait in traffic, and I was never more glad.  It ended up being a mud pit as it got warmer (by like 5°) and there were several tow trucks circling the parking lot having to pull people out of the mud.  I headed towards home.  I stopped at McDonald's for a sweet tea and cheeseburger and then headed home.  I greeted my homies and then headed upstairs for a shower, a stretch/roll session, and a nap.

#DatMedalTho....
Seriously, that medal is the only thing that got me out of bed at before the asscrack of dawn in the cold, wet, morning...

I slept for a few hours (as is customary after any run longer than a 5k) and unwillingly rolled out of the bed.  I still had some cleaning to do before the party... which mostly didn't happen.  I vacuumed up some gross areas on the floor and Teh German and I moved the couches around to open up the room a bit, but otherwise, I said fuck it.  Oh yeah, and I wiped off the counters and put vinyl table cloths on the table and island.  I think Teh German might have wiped down the bathroom, but I don't really know.  I used some logic and decided that people were coming and the floor was just going to get gross and the toilet was going to get used, so why bother cleaning it?  SO I didn't.  #notsorry.

Pax and I spooned for the first time ever!
Be still my heart!

While I had been napping, Teh German had decorated the front of the house with lights.  I considered this festive enough based on all the activity I'd endured for the prior 36 hours.  I started laying out food around 6.  By 7, we were ready.  I was actually upstairs changing into my holiday finest when our first guests arrived, Teh PT Fam.

Neighbor Besties!

Please check out Teh German's blue ball...
#Mine

I was pleased with how the party went.  We ate and drank and there was merriment.  The dogs got to have a sleep over at Teh Dental Hygienist's house so there were no possibilities of escape.  The white elephant exchange gave me a valid reason to use my megaphone in the house (the megaphone I received at the prior year's neighborhood white elephant exchange).  I actually ended up getting Teh PT Wife's gift, which was extra funny since I was with her when she bought it.  There was a few rounds of Cards Against Humanity played, but by that point, we were all pretty intoxicated and focus levels were low.

I also had set up the photobooth as an extra shenanigans thing.  I was pissed to discover my super expensive tripod got fucked up at the wedding, but let's focus on the positive, shall we?

SUNDAY

It was after 0100 when Teh German and I finally went to sleep.  We slept until about 0930, at which point Teh German started sighing incessantly (a sure sign of hangover).  I was fine other than a mild headache, so I administered some ibuprofen to myself and Teh German and encouraged him to eat.

He didn't even finish a bowl of cereal before he went and laid down on the couch and promptly went back to sleep.  I wasn't tired and I have a very annoying manner post-drunkenness.  Specifically, a crazy amount of energy to do all the things.  I channeled that.  I picked up the dogs and we went on a walk (mostly for me to stretch my post-run stiffness out), then I came home and made a menu for the week and a store list.  I finally unrolled the puzzle I had brought home with me from MD that Teh Running Bestie and I had started, but still wanted to accomplish some things.  I decided to accomplish going to the store.  I left Teh German a note before I left, but when I got home, he was in the same place I had left him in - still asleep on the couch.

My first stop was coffee, because why not?  Then I headed to Lidl (which is Aldi competition) to check it out since it just opened in our town.  It was still unbearably crowded, but I survived.  Then I headed to Walmart to pick up the few items that I hadn't found at Lidl.  It was as horrible as you'd imagine, but I survived.  The best part of the trip was when I got home and got to use my new super power carabiner hooks I got from the Dollar Tree so I don't have to make a million trips to the car to empty it.

Cup holders on buggies should be a requirement everywhere.

They even have padding.
AND THEY WERE $!

Teh German woke up after I got home and said he felt better (surprise).  I put everything away and we snacked on leftovers from the party.  Another neighbor was having a drop-in party on Sunday, so we headed over to that for a little bit around 3.  We left since I had to study for my German exam, which I did when we got home.  After an hour or so, I finished up my studying and Teh German and I rearranged the living room.  To my surprise, Teh German had liked how we had set up the living room for the party and wanted to keep it like that.  We did some reorganizing, but now we have a new setup and I think I like it.. except for the part that we now have our own couches to watch TV on.  Not that we really snuggle while watching TV anyways, but principle.

The new living room set up.

After watching a few episodes of Mad Men, it was bedtime.

Sometimes, I am amazed at how much I can pack into a weekend.  This weekend was a doozy.  In fact, when Teh German called me an idiot for planning on running a half marathon in the rain and cold on Saturday morning, I agreed with him.  It wasn't raining on the island though and I was grateful.  Essentially, it worked out in the end, as it always does.  PS.  My medal is fucking awesome and Teh Running Bestie and I have already signed up for the Kiawah Half next December.  1- It was only $41, 2- You can wait inside before the race and not freeze your ass off.  3- The course is flat.  4- DAT MEDAL THO!  5- The sweet ass shirt every year.

Oh yeah, the important part?  My bad hip didn't/doesn't hurt.  My "good" hip (the non-surgery-ied hip) was a bit achy, as was my toe, but I have been making sure to stretch, stretch, stretch and I have rolled every day since the run.  I also hit up the Chiro today for a much needed popping session.    Also, I'm planning a massage to celebrate the end of the semester after my last exam on Wednesday.  #NOTFUCKINGSORRY #TreatYoSelf

I'm moderately embarrassed that I haven't even linked up for the SUYB in months.  That's definitely reflective on the state of my life.  I've got a skeleton draft in the works, but we'll see if it happens or not.  There should be a Shit Teh German Said in the near future.  Tonight we are going out for a birthday dinner.  I have my chem exam on Wednesday and that evening we have the Yelp holiday event, which is always a blast.  Friday evening is both of our company holiday parties.. We're going to Teh German's first and if Company party is still going, then we will meet up with them.  Since Company didn't put out the deets until a week and a half ago and Timo's company put out their details in Oct, it was first come first served on the calendar.  Saturday I have a volunteer event to do wreath laying at a cemetery.  I've always wanted to do the one in Arlington, but this will have to do.

Another goal I've set for myself in the very near future is to go through our wedding pictures and select the ones we like the most for printing and for getting made into photo books.  I can do it!

PS.  Christmas is exactly 2 weeks away!
PPS.  I know what Teh German got me for Christmas and I may have found it when I was cleaning on Thursday.  This isn't a bad thing since I picked out what I wanted him to get me and I was sitting there when he bought it.
