Weekend Review {12/30}

FRIDAY

My Friday post went up late, so no pics to share since I already shared them.  I didn't have much in the way of work tasking, having completed it all earlier in the week, so I spent most of Friday monitoring chat and email and planning run things and going through my bibs and trying to come up with clever things to put on a new medal rack.

Teh German and I stayed home and had leftover for dinner and spent the evening watching hockey, which gave me a genius idea.

SATURDAY

Saturday was tattoo day.  I was out of the house by 0900 with a millionty ounces of beverage.

L to R: water, sweet tea, coffee

I got a nice reminder soon after getting on 26 that it was the weekend after Christmas and I needed to slow my roll.  And by that I mean, I saw 2 people pulled over within a mile of each other, soooo yeah I slowed down.

I grabbed lunch and then headed to see Noel.

We did a LOT of work on Saturday and the sleeve is FINISHED!!! WOOT!  Thanks to medication I was able to make it through almost 6 hours of stabbing.  Unfortunately, I did almost pass out when it was all over.  I thought it was the medication kicking in and I was getting light headed and my hearing was very tunnel-y, so I sat down.  Then Noel realized I was very ghostly and without color and kinda green looking.  I was immediately given a chocolate bar to eat and wet paper towels for my forehead and neck.

I didn't realize I had come so close to passing out until Rob, one of the tattoo artists, said, "Didn't you wonder why your hearing was all funky?"  I said, "I thought it was just my tinnitus acting out again."  So yeah, all those people that make fun of getting that 10% disability from the VA for tinnitus, that's how bad my tinnitus is.. I thought that it was tinnitus and didn't realize I was about to pass out.  Kthx.

Everyone was skeptical about me hitting the road and driving all the way back to Charleston, but even if I had driven to Home, Home to stay at Dad's, it still would have been at least an hour of driving and if I could drive an hour, I could drive the 3.5 to get home... so that's what I did.  I did stop at Wendy's and grab a Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger for dinner and dealt with the general tiredness and boring drive with audiobook for a while then I switched to car karaoke until I made it home.

Teh German had waited up on me, partially because he was watching a movie and partially because he had been worried about the situation before I left the shop.  As soon as I set my shit down and got everything unpacked, it was bedtime.

SUNDAY

I slept like complete shit because of the roller coaster the day before, the full effect of the meds made me restless, and my arm was, understandably, sore/sensitive.  We had made plans to go to Holy City to check out the new location with the Neighbors.

We were all super impressed at the new location, but because they changed from bar only service to sit down/table service, they were struggling a bit, andddd they didn't have the brunch menu... annndddd after we ordered the server came back to tell me they didn't have what I ordered.  Sooooo, I was disappointed.  Also, I felt like everyone we were with was pissed at me for my irritation, which I couldn't comprehend since we'd waited over an hour for people to arrive (Teh German did order an appetizer while we waited, which was for the best), the item I wanted wasn't offered (because no brunch), nor was my 2nd choice, then we waited a long time for food (which was expected).

Also, I'm not sure why people have found it acceptable recently to be outright rude to me to my face, but Jesus-fuck, I wish it would stop.  From being told, over and over and over, how weird I was and how the person saying it decided I wasn't so bad after they got to know me at Teh German's Company Holiday Party to Teh PT Husband straight up telling me I was annoying him, even though I hadn't done anything to him.  I later realized that he was hangry since he does a fasting thing and he hadn't eaten..

But back to my point, why should I be the one to have to change MY behavior based on your problems with me?  I like me.  I don't like it when people are rude to me because they have a problem with something about me.  Not like something I said or did to them, but a problem WITH me.  Is this that whole 2019 thing?  I considered that maybe I was just taking things personally, but with a second occurrence so soon after the first one, maybe it's a thing now?  I'm not saying people shouldn't talk straight with me, but I also think some self-reflection before words come out of your mouth should be a thing.  You might think you're being funny calling someone annoying, but are you?  Who laughed?  Because as the person you were saying that about, I sure as fuck didn't fucking laugh.

I tried to be normal through the rest of the time we were there, but I was annoyed at myself being annoyed with all the uncontrollable things (menu, waiting, other people's rudeness) and I was only there for brunch, not day drinking.  Teh German would hang out all day with the gang at a brewery, but there's a lot less in it for me, as I don't drink beer.  Also, it was raining and the bay doors were open and I was freezing because it was hot when we left and I'd opted to wear short sleeves and I had regrets when it started raining and the wind was blustering through the brewery.

By the time we left, we'd been there for almost 3 hours, which probably explained why I was so ready to leave.  When we got home, I did the laundry and had Teh German take photos of my arm, and then he went over to help Teh PT Husband smoke fish for dinner after they got home and I play Emoji Blitz and napped and woke up and read.

Dinner was smoked fish and salad.  We finished out the night with Modern Family and then it was bedtime chores and sleepy time.

Because I napped, I wasn't really tired, so I finished my book and then it was sleepy time.

______________________________________________

So remember that one time when I said I had a genius idea?  Well, I figured out Teh German's (early) birthday present: Hockey tickets.. and not just bleh hockey ticket.. No no, we're going to see the Capitals vs Hurricanes in Raleigh on the 3rd.  ANNNNDDD the birthday part of these tickets is that we are sitting RIGHT.BESIDE the Caps penalty box.  We're predicting a pretty aggressive game since the Caps lost to the Hurricanes last Friday night, so hopefully Teh German will get to take some selfies with his faves.

Teh Advising Sister said we could stay with her, which is fabulous.  Now I just have to arrange for a dog sitter and we'll be golden.

This week is a semi-normal work week.  Monday and Tuesday are wear your jammies into work day, which is right up my DNGAF about my appearance alley.  Also, since it's fucking summer outside, I am able to wear short sleeves, which is convenient for my all day lotion-ing purposes.  Really though, our AC kicked on last night it because it was 75°F in our house.  HATE.

Even the dogs seem to be disgruntled about it.  I heard Meri get up in the middle of the night and rearrange her bed and when that didn't work, she jumped on the chair and tried to nest in it.  She eventually settled, but she's been pretty restless the warmer it's gotten.  All this to say, the entire family does better when the temps are under 70°F.

I have to take care of some errands this week, mostly returns, blech.  We're attending a neighborhood NYE party Tuesday night, we'll see what my toleration allows for.  I'm off on Wednesday (Teh German is on vacation all this week).  We'll head to Raleigh on Thursday afternoon.  The game is Friday night.  We'll head back to Charleston on Saturday.  This way Teh German will have his full recovery day at home prior to having to go back to work on the 6th.

Activities start picking up after this week.  We'll have visitors in town for the Charleston Marathon weekend, which I'm running the half.  Then after that, school starts again, which I am NOT looking forward to.

This might be the last 2019 post, so in that vein, Happy 2020, Gentle Readers.  Thanks for riding the 2019 roller coaster with me.  Fingers crossed for a smoother 2020.

Weekend Review {12/02}

FRIDAY

Friday was tattoo day.  I switched up the concept a little and I'm not disappointed.  Originally, I had said no color.. and I made myself a liar.  Oh well.

It was a long day.  I made it home by 11 (yes, pm), and it was put my shit down and bedtime.

SATURDAY

Saturday was productive day.  We had a slow start.  Once I finally got up, I had breakfast and placed the grocery orders and started on homework... and by that I mean, I managed to probably screw up some stuff for our group project that I don't know how to undo.  Oops.  I finally quit while I was ahead.  I finished up my final paper for another class.  When Teh German came in from mowing the yard, I finally gave up on trying to be school productive.

Teh German and I agreed to go to Sesame for dinner and then go pick up the grocery orders.  Our server at Sesame was an absolute nightmare, which makes me sad because this seems to be the trend of late.  We managed to pick up our groceries at both Sam's and Walmart and then headed home.

When we got home, it was dog snuggle and Modern Family time and eventually, bedtime.

SUNDAY

Sunday morning was another slow start.  Since I knew that trying to do homework would only result in 1- my frustration, 2- me fucking more shit up, I opted to stay away from the computer for the day.  Instead, we had a disagreement about paint and then we ended up still going to Lowe's to get paint samples.  We also bought a fake tree, which I thought would never happen since Teh German has always been #TeamRealTree.  What this really means is that one day he'll relent and let me put my childhood ornaments on the downstairs tree.  This was not that day.

The other thing we purchased at Lowe's was an appointment for someone to come put in a backsplash in the kitchen.  I'm not sure what home improvement bug crawled up my ass and died to motivate me in all these ways, but fucking FINALLY.

When we got home from Lowe's, we unloaded Baloo and Teh German moved Suzi out of the way so I could unearth the Christmas totes from the storage closet.  Teh German set up his new fake tree and I did the other house decorations.

My absolute favorite part of pulling out the Christmas decorations is these dog antlers that I purchased for Phil a millionty years ago.  Meri absolutely hates these things and I expected the same reaction from Pax.  Nope, he was cool as a cucumber.  Meri was as awkward as always.

When you corner your husband and hold the fake mistletoe over your head for forced kisses.
#ThisIsMarriage

Final results of our efforts:

Teh German was done with his decorating way before I was.  He enjoyed a cigar outside with Teh PT Husband while I enjoyed a Trap Christmas* Spotify playlist and continuing my decorating ministrations.

Despite having such a busy day, when we finally went to bed, I couldn't get to sleep and once I did, my sleeps were shitty.  #HateHateHate

*I like Christmas music, but I hate hearing what sounds like the same versions over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.. so the trap versions are a great alternative for me when I'm not in the mood for classic Christmas.. and I get to shake my booty to Christmas music... #WinWin

______________________________________________

A very unintentional productive weekend.  I am excited to start putting paint swipes on the walls, but due to decorating, it didn't happen.  I could have done some swipes then decorated while the brushes dried, but it was just too much effort and I wanted to focus on ONE thing (a rare occurrence for me), so that's what I did.

I'm pumped the Christmas decorations are up because once the semester ends, I'm not going to want to do anything, which is usually why Christmas decorations have been minimal in years past.  Also, I need to do it when I'm feeling in the spirit, which was Sunday.  So it's d.u.n.

The backsplash purchase was a splurge.  Teh German has been talking about doing it himself for a while... but honestly, it seemed like a real frustrating project to me and when I saw that you can pay Lowe's to contract someone to do it for you for only $300, I was sold.  This means #1: no frustrated German noises that put me in crisis/disaster recovery mode.. but also: no frustrated measuring, no multiple trips to buy more of an item, having someone else get all the necessary items and then.. THEY DO IT FOR US.  Like, #MINDBLOWN.  We have a house account for things exactly like this AND this was a planned home improvement that we just hadn't made happen yet.  Soooo, trigger pulled.

Paint swatches probably won't happen until next week or later, depending on how school productive I can be this week.  We'll see.  I want to put random paint swatches on the walls though, so the motivation is there, but I'm lacking in time because the end of the semester is barreling through my life like the Amtrak train.  Truthfully, it's not that I've got that much going on, but I have 2 big projects that aren't complete.  Both are partner/group projects, one just needs to be done and we're working on it (now), but had some HUGE technical set backs when my partner's power supply in his desktop blew AND he, inconveniently, left his laptop charger in GA over Thanksgiving.  The other project is a disaster.  I have no idea what I'm actually doing because test-driven/behavior-driven development is theoretically cool, but my worst nightmare in Ruby on Rails.. and if none of that made any sense to you, it's fine... same.

The best news from this hell semester is that I only have 2 final exams, since the rest of my classes had final projects.  I'm hoping that one of them will be online since our scheduled exam time is on a Sunday at 1pm.. WTTFF?? Thanks, Obama Hurrication.

And finally... there's a horrible combination of no-fucks-to-give + senioritis that I'm enduring right now.. and the struggle is rreeeeaaaallllllllllllllll.

This week includes:
-Computer Science major test
-Friday test
-project screenshots (for the project we have had all semester, but started Monday, it's college, mkay?)

Next week is the final week of class.  #JesusTaketheWheel.

Five on Friday #215

EINS - Random Shit

After flipping out last month on the Cadets for never being able to recall any information given in class...  The PITA Professor has now started coming to me to confirm the due dates that he has announced in class.  This has happened more than once.  I am officially the date keeper of all assignments given in all my classes.

FUCK MY FUCKING LIFE.

________________________________________

A typo-ed period on the output of a programming assignment cost me an entire letter grade on a PITA Professor assignment.  There is probably someone out there who thought I was just being "Megan-dramatic" by calling him PITA Professor.. but, Gentle Readers, I am not.  So I got a D+ on an assignment instead of a C+ because of a TYPO-ED PERIOD.  And it's not like the grading of nhis programming assignments isn't entirely subjective anyways.. so I mean.. he could have just docked like half a letter grade and I would have still gotten a C.  NOPE.  Fuuuuuuucccckkk yoooouuuu, brrrroooooo.

I knew something was up when he asked me for a source file from my turn in... He could have asked me for the output again, but instead he asked for the source file.  I see what you did there.  Dick.  Ugh.

Last Friday this post didn't happen because life.  Monday posts often don't get to happen on Monday because life.  I've seriously considered just not blogging at all because I need to stop stress-forcing myself to do things.. and then I'm like, but we had such an awesome weekend and I want to document that, which is the whole purpose of this blog...  so it's a conundrum.  So if you've noticed the wavering schedule, just know that's how my life is currently operating and you're seeing the fallout because, eventually, something has to give... and often, it's the things I enjoy the most.  Siiiiiiigh.

Less than 200 days until graduation, Gentle Readers.

My job is a lot of waiting to get flooded for tasking and the dams finally broke this month and I've been slammed with tasking.  I've finally accepted that this is my life and I don't even get upset anymore... unless someone wants a 25+ page document completed by the end of the business day and they send it to me after 0900...  My PM and techs sometimes apologize and I just shrug and tell them that's part of my job and I've accepted it.  Honestly, it's the biggest motivator for me getting my homework done as soon as it's assigned instead of waiting until the last minute, so it kinda works out.

That said, when you push out 3 documents for 3 different projects in the same day and there are changes that need to be made to make one document like another, it gets VERY confusing.

Meri finally got her hairs did!  I made a super awkward post on Instagram with the caption, "Goodbye floofs!" and a few people thought that meant "Goodbye Meri" and that was NOT the intention.  Oops.  Since Pax has some separation anxiety when Meri isn't around, I ended up making a dog day.

I brought both dogs into the office in the AM and then we all went and dropped Meri off at the groomer when it was time.  I stopped by Teh German's office on the way back to my office so he could have some Pax Therapy time since he had some shit going down at work.  I love bringing my dogs to work.. but Jesus, it's exhausting having to pay attention to another being all day long and make sure they don't get into anything or poop anywhere.  Plus it was a day full of work, so I was being pulled in all the directions.

sooo stoned because Mahm gave me anxiety meds

Coworker of the Month and I at the company all hands meeting.

Then when I picked up Meri, the groomer told me that she'd accidentally nicked Meri's tail and she had a case of happy tail.. which I was just rolling with since Meri has had self-inflicted happy tail before.  Except, she was so excited to see that she immediately slung the wrap on her tail off and proceeded to create a murder scene at the groomer's front desk.  They rewrapped Meri's tail and we negotiated a payment situation since they weren't going to charge me since they nicked Meri and I refused since I couldn't even tip them if they didn't charge me.  We agreed that I'd pay half so I could tip and I also felt that this was more fair than not paying at all.

With that sorted out, we headed out and when we got to the car, Meri was so excited to see Pax that she slung off the wrapping.. again, but IN Willow AND THE BLOOD.. So it was like Willow got her period and I'm trying to grab for Meri's tail, which she hates and she's confused why I'm freaking the fuck out and she's bleeding and trying to lick her tail and fucking chaos.  Is there a more accurate analogy for my life?  Probably not.

I gave up trying to get the wrap back on the her tail and just went back inside and asked for anything to cover it AND duct tape.  Sooo now Meri has a rag/duct tape club on her tail and it's pitiful, but at least she's not bleeding all over everything anymore.. Thoughts and prayers that she doesn't chew it off while we're at work.  The last thing I need, after having to clean up Willow's insides is a murder scene across the entirety of House.

It was definitely a peaceful evening!

Update: Her tail wrap fell off Thursday afternoon and now she's got an almost bald spot from the gorilla duct tape.  Oops.  On any given day, I fully expect to go home to a blood bath all over the entire house.

There is an ice cream shop down the street from my work.  I've been in there ONE time and there was no one to serve me or even talk to me.. There was a kid sitting at the counter watching TV, but that was it.  No workers.

I tried to go in a few week ago, but they were "on vacation".. uhh wut?  Fine.

I tried to go in today in the middle of the day.. The door was locked.

It wasn't fucking meant to be.
Also, how does this place stay open?

Dear Well-Intentioned Friends,

Your Greyhound-owner friends have seen the photo of the greyhound dressed up as a greyhound bus. Not just once or twice, but a millionty times. We appreciate that you think of us, but please know, we have already seen the greyhound dressed as a greyhound bus. We've seen it every Halloween that we've had social media. We've seen it intermittently throughout the year when someone signs onto their social media account for the first time in 6 months. We've seen it in our sleep. In fact, we probably also considered the idea since it is super adorable, but then realized just how much work went into that and how much our hound hates wearing clothes and realized NOT dressing our greyhound up as a greyhound bus was a more productive idea.

I repeat: WE HAVE SEEN THE PHOTO OF THE GREYHOUND DRESSED AS A GREYHOUND BUS.

I'm officially the asshole that will passive-aggressively call your ass out if you're being too loud in the morning.  We always have non-Company employees working in our office.  I'm not really sure why, but we've all just accepted it at this point.  Anyways.. one of these freeloaders participated in a conference call on speaker phone at 0730 and I managed for about 10 minutes, thinking to myself it had to end now.. no.. NOW.. Nope.. NOWWWW.  Still no?  Fuck you, bro.

I sashayed my sassy ass to the conference room and pulled the door shut.  I will not deal with that shit.  NOPEEEE.

I had a consult with a new hair stylist that is near my work since my current hair person moved to BFE and it's just too far for me.  I made an appointment for December with the new lady and I'm second-guessing myself so hard because I checked her instagram (after she gave me her card) and she hasn't really done a lot of "vivid hair" or she doesn't post on social media a lot.  IDK.  She seemed really nice and I know I have hair trust issues, so I'm hoping that's why I have a weird feeling about this situation.. but I'm having anxiety about this decision.

Backstory: When I was trying to call the salon to set up the consult appointment, I accidentally called Meri's groomer who informed me, after I told them about my blue hair/far away stylist situation, that they work on DOGS mostly.

This weekend is homework, homework, homework.  Not being in town for the entire weekend for our anniversary means I need to be ahead of the game.  I HAVE to write that stupid fucking paper already.

Also this weekend, I have to take the beasts to meet the dogs of a coworker who is willing to watch the dogs/trade dog sitting services.

Also, tonight is the Aquarium After Hours event, featuring "spirits" this time.. costume is suggested and liquor will be served.  YAAASSS.  We're dressing up as old people because I've been married long enough now that my Husband has shamed my clothing choices when I want to go out in workout pants instead of jeans and I make it a personal life goal to have valid reasons to go out in public in my pajamas and this is one of those times.  #LikeAFuckingBoss

We received the email from Pack Up & Go (no compensation for me by linking that, unfortunately, but if they were interested in a deal, I'm interested too!) for our trip next weekend.  The weather forecast is a high in the 40°s (Fahrenheit) each day and I'm so fucking pumped that I tried to backwards search where that would be, but can't figure it out because the airport doesn't have any flights listed as leaving at the time they said we would be departing.. sooo yeah.. I'm that person who has already tried to figure it out.

Gentle Readers, if I make it to the night before our trip without opening the envelope to find out where we are going, I will be impressed.  I'd say I'd keep you updated, but I fully anticipate that I will be taking a technology hiatus next weekend... #NotSorry

Weekend Review {10/14}

FRIDAY

After lunch on Friday, I got the sleepy tireds and could NOT shake it.  So much so that I skipped a workout and went straight home after work.  Yolo.

The dogs don't understand that when I get home, I'd really prefer NOT to be harassed, jumped at, and generally annoyed as soon as I walk in the door.. so I kicked them out because they were being annoying and I was exhausted.  Teh German let them in as I was preparing to lay down the couch and this fuzzy turd bucket laid down in my spot because she's a needy asshole.

I mean, I kinda also thought it was hilarious, so I took a few pics after I laid down on her.. and she didn't seem to mind, which was weird, and then I made her move because I needed a damn nap.

I didn't get in a good nap, but enough sleeps were had to be functional again.  When I woke up, I asked Teh German if he wanted to go see an NC comedian named Jon Reep (check the end of the 1st section) and explained the backstory to him and Teh German agreed to go.

We grabbed dinner at a place across the street from the theater and then headed to the theater to buy tickets and grab seats.

No photos were allowed.. buttttt here we are because #blogging.

There were 3 comedians + the MC.  2 of the 3 comedians were hilarious, the other guy just talked about doing drugs and partying and he had the wrong suburban middle class crowd for that.  The MC was also hilarious and made me want to start going to comedy shows around Charleston.  One day... when school is no longer making me drown in life.

Teh German agreed that it was totally worth going and that the show was awesome and we should check out local comedians.

After the show, we came home, dealt with the beasts, and I went to bed while Teh German did whatever he does when I'm not around.  IDK, I knew I had to get up and get moving on Saturday, so staying up super late was not on my agenda.

SATURDAY

Tattoo Saturdays have been deemed "Stabbing Saturday"... and that's what this Saturday was.  I left a little after 9 to head to Charlotte.  I saw some old Crossfit friends while driving down 26, which was awesome because we got excited and waved at each other and went about our business.  I made it to Charlotte slightly early, thank you traffic from Charleston to Columbia that was going 90+mph.

I talked with Noel about the design and while he traced, I went and grabbed lunch at the same BBQ place from last time.  When I got back, we sized the stencil and estimated the placement then Noel got everything set up.  He placed the stencil and then we got down to business by 2.

We took a 20 minute break at one point for Noel to eat and for me to put my arm down and then we got back to it.

Noel finished up right around 7:30 and I took my photo, paid, and headed out.
That would be about 5 and a half hours of being stabbed, in case you were wondering.
#LikeABoss

By 11, I was home.. thank you traffic from Rock Hill to Columbia getting the fuck out of my way and then those awesome drivers who were willing to go 85+mph from Columbia back to Charleston.  Teh German was watching hockey when I got home and I was absolutely exhausted, so I went straight to bed.  Did not pass Go, did not collect $200.  STRAIGHT TO BED.

SUNDAY

Sunday there were zero photos.. but Sunday was also full of activities.  I made Teh German disgruntled by making him get up with the dogs, after Meri had ensured that I was a-fucking-wake by jumping on me/the bed, as she does.  I wasn't really able to go back to sleep, but I dozed on and off for a little bit and then did some scrolling before finally getting up and taking a shower.  Mostly, I showered to rinse off my arm of the tattoo goo that forms overnight when I leave the nonstick pads on (which I only do the day of getting the tattoo so that way the ink doesn't bleed all over the sheets, which was actually a fail this time...).

Teh German made bacon and toast and I made scrambled eggs for breakfast.  After we ate, I headed to the office to do homework things and Teh German did Teh German things (Teh German Time, fish tank stuff, scrolling).  He eventually left and ran some errands and I had SILENT time for homework.  It was rather glorious, to be honest.  Those headphones better be on sale by Black Friday.. because well.. a month is a long time to wait when you have this much homework between now and then.

At 2, we headed over to Teh PT House for a Sunday Funday gathering.  We even brought Pax and Meri, because I'm always in the hopes that something will eventually drain Meri's batteries.  Going to Teh PT House was NOT it.  I tried, Gentle Readers, I tried.  Siiiiiigh.

We had dinner and socialized and Teh German brought the dogs home after we ate.  A little while later, I went and fetched them to see if they would play with Remy, a 150 Great Dane, who was a Sunday Funday guest.  Meri was terrified of a dog so much bigger than her and her bitch ass hid behind Teh German or I, depending on who was closest.  Pax played and chased some, but nothing really energy draining.  When there was some drama that also happened to be around doggy dinner time, I took the beasts home to feed them dinner and continue working on homework things.

I was exhausted, ugh again, and managed to get to a solid stopping point on my homework by 7:30.  I was packing up my computer and things to load in the car when Teh German came home.  I headed upstairs to get ready for bed and, surprisingly, Teh German also came upstairs to get ready for bed.  We were in bed by 9 and it was glorious!

An extremely productive weekend!  Socializing, tattoo, homework, spontaneous date night!

Despite unfinished homework things, I managed to get my questions asked and assignments completed and printed out prior to the class they were due for, so I consider everything a win.  I know that last week's stress-almost-meltdown was due to it being midterm time and teachers needing grades so they can calculate our midterm grades, but Jesusfuck, I do not appreciate the unbearableness that was all those assignments being due to close together.  My body definitely did not appreciate it, as my BJB is angry, I started to get a herpaderp on my lip, but then it decided to relocate to inside my nostril.. so I mean, I'm an absolute mess.  This is on the tail of being sick.. so I'm over it all.

Thankfully, I'm finally over the homework hump and I might even consider myself ahead of the game.. again.

This week holds:
-a midterm exam in a class that has been 95% lecture and 5% programming assignments that the instructor has had to debug each time. FML
-that group project that I still need to go talk to the professor about because I'm really not sure what I'm doing and my partner doesn't either and I cannot rely on them.
-Going to see RENT with Teh PT Wife.  Yall, I really don't like musicals, but I'm a good friend.  We'll see what level of good friend I am after the fact.
-Dog toes are getting chopped off on Friday!  (Megan translation: I'm taking the dogs to the vet to get their nails trimmed.)
-Weekend Goals = writing that 8-10 page paper!!!  It's ok to be super jealous.

Countdowns (because I need some guiding lights while I'm wading through homework hell):

18 days until our anniversary and our trip to the unknown!
21 days until I get to register for my LAST semester of college!!!!
62 days until this semester ends!
89 days until the Charleston Half Marathon with Teh Running Bestie and Matilda andd mayyybee Teh PT Wife if I can talk her into it... or ya know, anyone else.

207 days until GRADUATION!!!

Weekend Review {09/02}

FRIDAY

Since I posted late on Friday, you're caught up for the most part.  School, then home to supervise the Moose to make sure he wasn't being a dick and messing with his injury.  I caught this gem after dispensing bully sticks:

Friday evening, we went to the Crab Shack with the Neighbor Besties.  I had been in the mood for some crab legs and I ate waaayyy more than I should have, but I cracked those legs like a motherfuckin' professional.  After dinner, we headed home and I did some work and homework things while Teh German built the generator shed in the dining room (much to my annoyance).

Then, we took care of bedtime chores and it was sleepy time since I had a long day on Saturday.

SATURDAY

Teh German got up with the beasts on Saturday and I tried to sleep in, but was unsuccessful.  Oh well.  I did some scrolling then got up and got ready to head to Charlotte for my tattoo appointment.  Before I left, I helped Teh German move the shed outside and then got on the road.

I made it to the shop around 12:45, late, since I got tangled in traffic in Columbia.  Noel hadn't drawn up my tattoo yet, so while he did that, I went and grabbed lunch at a bbq place nearby.

I had ZERO ragrats.

When I got back, Noel was finishing up the drawing and we sized it and placed it and started on the way.

In the beginning.

In the end.

There was one point doing the shading at the end that I finally had to say uncle.  I'm actually confident I almost passed out, but Noel stopped in time... barely.  Before getting back on the road, I stopped at Cookout for a milkshake and hush puppies.  I stopped again in Rock Hill for gas and there was a Cookout next door, so I walked over and ordered a hot dog, cheese curds, and a soda and used the bathroom, then got back on the road.

At some unfortunate part of the drive, Teh German called me ranting about the fact that Pax has shit in his crate while he was out.  Apparently, it was pretty bad since it had splattered on the couch and the carpet/floor and all over the crate.  The call was full of German rage-grunting noises and silences after the initial raging... and drunkenness.  Eventually, he ended up hanging up.  A little while later, Teh German called me back asking how to start the washing machine to wash the poop comforter.

By the time I made it home at 11, everything was cleaned up and everyone was asleep.  #ThankGod

SUNDAY

Sunday morning, I got up with the dogs so I could go ahead and get a start on my homework/work things.  Teh German didn't come downstairs until almost 12.  I finished up my homework before 2 and we proceeded to watch Marvel movies through the afternoon.

I finally made pumpkin alfredo with chicken for dinner.  It was pretty good.

After dinner, we watched another movie and then an episode of The Americans.  I went upstairs to get ready for bed and received an email from school that classes were cancelled until further notice.  Ugh.  After reading for a while, it was finally sleepy time.

MONDAY

I spent most of Monday hiding ads on Facebook.  I shouldn't be surprised that they'd refresh the ad algorithm on a holiday when people are more likely to be on their phones.  Siiiiigh.. I fucking hate ads.

But we also got up around 7:45, thanks Meri, and handled the dogs.  I scooped poop since Teh German had made it pretty clear he wasn't going to do it the night prior.  When I came back in, I had breakfast and we got ready.  We agreed on a game plan to run errands.  This were idealistic goals, but so much good intentions.

The first stop was by the office so I could pick up my work laptop, then a stop by FedEx to discover they were closed and I couldn't drop off the box.  Then to Sam's to wait in line and get gas.  While we were waiting at Sam's, I called Merrill to see if the store was open; when there was no answer, I assumed no.

We headed back towards home, stopping by the car wash to get all the bug guts off my windshield, made a stop by the liquor store for Tito's (since I was out), and then went by Lidl for groceries.  I was surprised when an employee explained that the they had been instructed to clear the refrigerated shelves and also slightly annoyed because it meant that we had to go to another store.  Uuuughhh.

After Lidl, we headed to Walmart, which was actually less painful than Lidl.  We picked up the last of the items we needed and then made a stop by a pet store to check for boots for Pax.  They didn't have them and I ended up making the decision to just forgo the boots to go back home.  I was hot and sweaty (because I wore pants since we were going to Lidl which is always approximately 12°) and I think I also have some PMS going on and Teh German suggested that maybe I was hungry, so going home was an optimal solution to the failure of the day.

When we got home, we heated up leftovers for lunch, I did some computer things, discovered that all the photos that I took on our honeymoon were missing from my external hard drive, and then we resumed our Marvel adventure.

This week is the hurrication I've come to expect once a year around this time.  I am slightly annoyed that school was cancelled since I was looking forward to getting into the routine.  I've already received a few emails about class stuff that needs to get completed for when we return, so that's fun.

We haven't actually started hurrication partying, but I'm sure it's inevitable.  I'll be spending this week supervising Pax, sleeping in, teleworking, doing school things, reformatting my laptop, doing puzzles, partying with the neighbors, and hoping that everything is good through this hurricane.

If you or yours are in the path, stay safe.
