Confessions {1/27}

-The guilt of not running last weekend almost made me get my ass out of the bed when it was under 40 degrees to go run.  ALMOST.  Instead, on Saturday, while Teh German was working, I slept in, woke up and did puzzles until I was starving (mostly because Meri was laying on me and I, of course, couldn't disturb the princess), made lunch, sat on the couch and caught up on blog reading, opted against writing blogs for reading, and eventually went back to bed to read/do puzzles.  Soon after I got back in bed, Teh German called and asked if I wanted to come be social.  I only agreed since it was an indoor activity.  #puzzleandread #lazyass #unmotivated #Saturday

-I tried every self-guilt I could possibly think of to get motivated to go running.  Nothing worked.  I didn't run.  I told Teh MD-AR that she could tell me it was my own fault when I whine while we're at Disney.  #whatsatrainingplan

-In other not motivated news, I gave you a bare outline of the wedding, but at least you got photos!  It was an interesting wedding, the goal was achieved, and the bride and groom were pleased, so I am pleased.  There was a music debacle and I got pelted in the face with the toss bouquet (no jk) and everyone got a bit hangry (I did make sure Teh Sister ate breakfast and had a granola bar before the ceremony) and Teh Dad definitely "winged" his speech....  #hitched

This is the best photo of us since Teh Dad had a mohawk...
And we're all SMILING.
#mindblown

-Despite the fact that the watch Teh German got me for Christmas doesn't have any way for me to see the time in the dark, I still love it.  When I showed someone the engraving, they didn't understand it, and we loved it.  #bahlalala #bestteam4ever   (the engraving is: #bahlalala)

-There are people that actually believe stuff from TV commercials and that blows my mind.  Why do people believe everything they hear/see?  #beskeptical

-On Tuesdays, several of us in the office go out to lunch for Tasty Tuesday.  We car pool.  Sometimes adventures and mischief take place.  You already saw this if you follow me on instagram.  #adulting

Nipple rings, dirty car seat, and Minnie got a makeover with items we found in the backseat.

-Charleston has taught me to not judge a book by its cover for sure.  The place went to for lunch on Tuesday was inside an Asian market.  Not only did we get delicious pho (at least in my opinion), I was also able to pick up some delicious Asian type noms: mochi (peanut flavored), hi-chews, and flavored pretzel sticks (which you can sometimes find at the Target Dollar Spot).  Many places that I've been to in Charleston (and DC actually) are often small, ghetto looking buildings (and sometimes IN the ghetto) with very delicious food.  #EATALLTHETHINGS

-Whyyyyyy did FB decide that I needed a "trending" section on my news feed?  If I wanted to read sensationalized news, I'd just turn on the... news.  Just like with TV, the worst part is that people actually DO care about the things listed in the trending section and they also just read the headlines and believe it.  #peoplearestupid #NoNewsIsGoodNews

-Part of me is strongly considering walking away from blogging for the time being.  I know I wouldn't stay away for long.  I'd have stories to share that I wouldn't want to put on FB and this is MY space that people come to, to hear MY stories.  But at the same time.. it just feels like so much extra effort these days.  #onthefence #quitter

-MagicBands on my kitchen counter make me happy every time I look at them!  #Disneymakesmehappy #GlassSlipperChallenge2016

-I haven't done my taxes yet.  This is strange for me because I'm usually the person that does them on the first day that W2s are released.  #dolladollabillyall

-I'm now 42% "fluent" in German and doing them on the computer is way more helpful than on my phone since I don't have autocorrect/suggestions.  I've also figured out that doing them in the AM is better for me than in the PM.  #Germenglish

-I'm learning Linux at work.  The lessons I'm taking aren't lining up with the virtual box that I'm using, so some of the commands aren't working, which is mildly infuriating.  #nerdtalk #learningnewthings

-I have several options of what to eat for lunch today and they are all so delicious I'm struggling to decide.  Yes already at 8am.  #fatweek #notsorry #firstworldproblem

-We're hosting a super bowl party and I'm kind of excited.  Yes, about foosball.  It's weird, especially to me.  Carolina Panthers have never been this good, that I'm aware of, so this is kind of a big deal.  Yes, I'm totally a bandwagon fan.  Also, idgaf about Cam Newton.  We just need the wins.  #notsorry

-February is birthday month!  Unfortunately Feb is also Valentines, which also happens to be the mid-way point between Teh German's birthday and my birthday.  Plus my going to Disney towards the end of the month means we'll end up celebrating early in the month..  I tried to get reservations at Husk since we've not been there before, but they are booked for the 13th and I really don't want to go to fancy dinner after work because of stupid reasons (like the dogs being in their crates all day, getting home late, not getting to go to crossfit, dealing with the happy hour scene, dealing with traffic/parking downtown, blahblahblah).  #treatyoself

-I made a birthday reservation at Charleston Grill on Feb 12th.  #GoodEnoughForGovernmentWork

-I only feel mildly guilty for no gifs, so here you go:

Training for Tuesday #5

alyssagoesbang

Upcoming events:

14 November 2015: Sweet Tea Half in Summerville, SC
18-21 February 2016: Glass Slipper Challenge weekend + 5k in Orlando, FL (Disney World)
12 March 2016: Rugged Maniac 5k Obstacle Course in Mount Pleasant, SC
02 April 2016: Cooper River Bridge Run in Charleston, SC

October Goals:

-Keep training for my Sweet Tea 1/2.
-Get my pace down.
-Try out Crossfit.
-Don't get hurt.

Accomplishments:

~I only crossed out half of the Sweet Tea 1/2 training goal because I have kinda not but kinda have been training.  I haven't been running as much-ish, but I added cross-training through Crossfit and well, it's working out.  I can tell my lack of running effects my long runs, but there's nothing about me that is capable of running after doing WODs (yet).  Granted, I could run in the AM or make time other than on the weekend, but snuggles in the AM are my priority.  #notsorry

That said, Endurance Club did start, which means I am doing some running work.  The coach threatened something about running barefoot and I'm a good sport, buttttt if it's the week before my 1/2 it's not happening.  I'm not going to break myself before 13.1 miles, even if it's a shitty 13 miles.  I can't do it at all if I'm hurt.  AAANNNDDD The MD-AR is coming down to SC to run it with me.  She might actually disown me if I was hurt and couldn't run it.  Although it would mean that I'd be at the finish line waiting for her.

~Endurance club is going to help me with my pace.  Our first class was last Tuesday and we were definitely running faster than my 9-10m/m.  Prob more like 8:15-8:45.  I could.not.breathe.  It was tough.  I survived.  Moar please.

~I actually started Crossfit the day after the last Training for Tuesday post, but it didn't meet the cutoff, so I got to carry it over.  #win #IdowhatIwawnt

Honestly, I'm enjoying it.  I didn't want to because it's ridiculously expensive.  Additionally, Teh German has been on a Crossfit break because his shoulder which means I've been going solo.  This is good and bad.  Good because I don't feel like I need to impress him (yes I know I'm ridiculous) but bad because it means I'd rather stay home and have a relaxing evening (which are few and far between).  There are days I go home after Crossfit and feel like I could do more workout, but I also know that I'm going to be sore enough the next day without adding miles to the WOD I've already completed.  Finally, Chiro would probably lose his mind if I went back to 10ish miles during the week + Crossfit + weekend runs.  He might actually give up on me and all my broke parts.

~I did kinda hurt my shoulder trying to do a mabillionty (25+15) Burpees, but since then, I've modified my positioning and taken it slow.  This has helped more than anything.  Chiro says I just need to strengthen the muscles.  I say we'll see.  This popping has been going on since bootcamp-ish.  Even when I was doing good push-ups for a few months it was popping and I was ignoring it.  I probably did this to myself.

~I got a wild hair and signed up for a "mud run" with Teh German... and by with Teh German, I mean I found it and signed us up as he'd barely nodded ok because he's been talking about wanting to do an obstacle run since our first date.  It's only the 5k one, which is probably why I signed up.  There's no way I'd do obstacles during a 1/2 marathon.  It's already an obstacle to make sure I pick up my feet enough for 13 miles not to trip over myself.. and sometimes I'm not always successful at that.  Yes, it has a medal.  That may or may not have been most of my motivation.

~Teh German and I went on a Bridge Run with Friend 1 Wife a few weeks ago and it was glorious.  It wasn't a goal for October, but I RAN THE ENTIRE BRIDGE, which is definitely an accomplishment.  #patselfonback

November Goals:

-Get serious about GSC training
-Keep on my Crossfit game, keep adding the weight.
-Roll/stretch more or possibly implement more yoga into my life.
-Avoid gluten products (bread/pasta) to lessen the joint popping/aching problems (yay for self-awareness).  Stuffing is an exception.
-Don't get hurt.
-Try out the trampoline place.
-Total time of less than 2 hours for my 1/2 marathon. Probably not gonna happen, but it will be a goal until I accomplish it.

Confessions {7/15}

-Dear Dudes,
I know it's summertime in Charleston and it's hot, but could you please put your shirts back on?  First-World society dictates that I can't take my shirt off in public, so I believe this principle should be applied universally.  This applies to fit and "unfit" dudes, as both types are distracting, although in different ways.  I know you SAY that I could take my shirt off if I wanted, but then you'd be ogling my boobs and no.  Also, to the dude with the tramp stamp, you were judged.  #ijudgeyourtats

-This:

I ended up going with the unicorn, but only because Olaf was a kids size 3-5 years and the unicorn was 5-8 years and Teh WJL said that the Minions craze would pass, but unicorns will be awesome forever (#truth).  Yes, my head is small enough to fit into a child's helmet.  Sadly, I can't fit into kid's shoes.. that would save me so many dollas!  #childsized

-I dress for winter when I go to work because one of the guys likes to adjust the AC every.single.day based on how HE is feeling.  Well, he's always hot because he sits under the AC unit rather than under the area where it blows (which is where I sit).  Several people noted my sweater on Monday and I had to explain that I usually have my fleece on my desk chair, but it was currently at home in the wash, so I had to prepare for the arctic when I got dressed.  #bettertobeprepared #sweaterweatherforpermanent

-Mr. Scrooge poked me in the boob when we were watching X-Files after dinner on Sunday night.  It was everything I had in me not to ninja chop him in the throat.  I'm not sure at what point my boobs became play things for him (probably sometime after October when our sex life went into it's death spiral) but it made (and still continues to make) me feel unsexy and ragey.  It makes me feel like an object, which infuriates me.  Eventually, I started telling him that he wasn't allowed to touch my boobs unless I got some action, which rarely happened.  I'm not actually sure what in the hell he was thinking poking me in the boob on Sunday, but shit like that will definitely strain the friendship.  The worst part is that I still feel unsexy from months of this treatment.  #Iamnotanobjecttoamuseyou

-I really hate that G+ fucks up blogger's profiles and makes them no-reply commenters.  Seriously, all the rage.  Why can't Google integrate better... with their own products.  It doesn't seem like it should be that difficult.  #Googlewilleventuallytakeovereverything

-Mr. Scrooge and I went downtown for $5 burgers at that really classy place we went to for his bday dinner on Monday night (Cypress).  The burgers were delightful, but the entertainment.. not so much.  Right as our food was delivered, a group of 5-6 people migrated to stand behind us since there wasn't really room for them to stand closer to the bar.  Mr. Scrooge and I were sitting all the way against the wall at the end of the bar, so we were kinda in the corner.  While eating our food we had to endure what I would call sorority sister/cheerleader talk from the women for at least 15 minutes... and it wasn't the topic of conversation that was irritating, it was the tone of voice being used.  It felt like rusty spoons being stabbed in my ears.

Because we were sitting forward in our chairs eating our food, one of the girls thought it was ok to put her elbow on the back of Mr. Scrooge's chair and lean on it.  When he sat back and bumped into her elbow, Mr. Scrooge apologized to her.  I looked at her husband (per the bar snuggles and shiny wedding bands) and looked at the chair and looked back at him.  Really, I was just checking out the situation, but it was apparently enough of a glare for him to put his arm around her back and steer her slightly away from us.

At which point I finally admitted to Mr. Scrooge that at one point I thought it would be interesting to check out the happy hour scene in Charleston, but after further assessment, I don't think it would be a wise life choice for me to make.  Mr. Scrooge just laughed and laughed.

I didn't realize until we were leaving that they were actually trying to hover to run us out faster to take our seats.  It took forever to get the check and I would have happily escaped the sisters/cheerleaders sooner if the bill would have been delivered with the box for my leftovers.  #notapeopleperson

-3 things this week that have brought me great joy:
+Sitting on my couch listening to Spotify through the Roku on the "good" speakers.
+Shaving my legs and changing my sheets on the same day so I could enjoy that feeling when I went to bed.  Siiiiiiiiiigh.
+Smuckers Uncrustable Sammiches, particularly the nutella chocolate flavored hazelnut spread sammich.
#itsthelittlethings

-I saved the best for last:
I'M GONNA BE A PRINCESS!!!!!!
and by that I mean that Teh MD Adult Roomie and I were able to sign up for the runDisney Glass Slipper Challenge AND the 5k before it sold out.  My approximate reactions:

Fuck, now I have to really start training.  #runningsucks #Idothistomyself #omgsoexpensive #allthemedals

Weekend Review {3/30}

FRIDAY

Friday was the perfect ending to such a crap week.  It rained and traffic was horrendous.  It was so fitting that I just sighed and laughed a little and went on with my in-car dance sessions.  I managed to make it into work super early (although I was almost foiled by Nemesis Train #2 but I pulled a u-turn in the middle of the highway and hit 526 to the next exit and vowed that if Nemesis Train #1 started doing it's thing as I was approaching, I was just going to jump the tracks since I know how slow it goes).

When I left, I went straight to the coliseum for packet pick up and my magic roller stick.  On my way, I passed a section of the interstate that was completely covered in mulch, thankfully that was NOT the direction I needed to be going, but still, it sucked for those people that were stuck on the interstate going NOWHERE at all.

The drive for Teh MD Adult Roomie was pretty horrendous so she wasn't able to join me for the expo and packet pickup, but I still was able to peruse the expo and get free samples of Firefly Moonshine and some vodka beverage and then a free beverage of the vodka stuff.  I could have used Teh MD Adult Roomie's free beverage ticket, but I knew I needed to drive back home.

Teh MD Adult Roomie finally arrived and Mr. Scrooge finally made it home completely drenched (since he'd made a poor life choice and decided to take the motorcycle out for his errands).  We ended up leaving soon after we all sat down and got comfortable for dinner at Graze.  I had called and made a 5:30 reservation at 5:05, so I told the guy we'd be late.  What I didn't realize was HOW late.  Since 526 was being mulched (ha), everyone was taking I-26 to get to Mount Pleasant, which means that we hit serious bridge traffic.  The cool thing was that Teh MD Adult Roomie was able to get a preview of the bridge we would be running across 12 hours later.

Apparently, we weren't the only ones late for our reservations since there were plenty of empty tables when we arrived.  Dinner was delicious, of course.  One of my coworkers had suggested that we park a car downtown so we could escape downtown after the race and not have to wait on the shuttle, so we dropped Yurtle off at the parking garage after dinner.

Rainy evening in CHS.

We came home and relaxed with the dogs for the evening.  Since Teh MD Adult Roomie and I had an early start, we went to bed fairly early.  But not before Olive made her princess-self at home in my bed.  Love her.

SATURDAY

5am came sooooo early.  Teh MD Adult Roomie and I headed out to the coliseum to catch our shuttle to the Cooper Bridge Run (10K).  I think it's something about race shuttle drivers, they have to be a little crazy.  Our driver for the Divas run had NO idea where he was going and we almost got hit by an 18-wheeler.  This time, the lady blatantly ran a red light, but we were the last bus in a 7 bus train and I can't be sure she had any idea where we were going.  Then again, I'm not sure any of the drivers had any idea where we were going since we ended up having to turn around at a gas station.

When the bun finally stopped, I whimpered, "Can we please just stay and hang out on the bus?"  I didn't realize it was as loud as it was, but everyone around us heard me and cackled.  It was a whopping 40 degrees (F) and 98% of us were prepared for a sunny day 6 mile run, NOT standing around in winter conditions for 2 hours.

Overall, I'd give the entire race an A.  Not an A+ because the after-race stuff was terrible in my opinion.  But the most impressive thing ever happened BEFORE the race.  Around 0730, we noticed these 3 things in the sky.  At first I thought they were little drone things with American flags hanging from them (it made sense to my freezing brain at zero dark thirty on Saturday morning).  As these objects got closer, we realized they were actually parachute-ers with American flags hangings from them.  At which point, I started to hear someone singing the National Anthem.  Out of habit, I stood at attention.  What's the protocol for my behavior now that I'm not in the military anymore?  Apparently, I really suck at being a civilian.  While the singing of the National Anthem wasn't the best, the presentation of the flag gave me chills because of how awesome it was.

Finally, the sun came up and the crowd started moving forward.  We'd started stretching our cold, tight muscles after the National Anthem.  As a lover of the cold, I'm not really going to bitch about standing in the cold, but I am going to bitch about how tight my muscles were from standing for so long in the cold.  The crowd refused to crowd together to keep warm, which sucked.  Apparently, everyone was enjoying their personal space.  Teh MD Adult Roomie would hide behind me when the wind would blow and I'd find someone to hide behind too.  We got caught several times doing this and people around us would laugh.  #notevensorry

Start line!

Up the bridge.

Down the bridge selfie!

At the finish line!

At the finish line "celebration"

Honestly, the absolute worst part was after the finish line.  There were no clear directions for participants on where to go and there were a million and a half people loitering around, which didn't help.  Teh MD Adult Roomie and I hadn't eaten breakfast and it was now 1000 and we had ran 6.4 miles (.2 extra from dodging walkers) and I was past hangry.  It hit me like a wall.  When I couldn't immediately find water and something to shove in my mouth, I was ANGRY.  I ended up almost accosting innocents asking them where they found water and a muffin.  We eventually found them, but it was a close call to bloodshed.

We located the muffins and didn't have to fight the water table crowd because I looked down and God had placed a crate of bottled water at the edge of the food table.  We then happened upon some stacked tables and we plopped down and washed down some blueberry muffins and stretched.  Semi-nourished, we faced the people and checked out the tents that were set up.  We took a photo together at this huge inflated red couch, which was hilarious on principle.  Mr. Scrooge was supposed to have met us near the finish, but he didn't make it in time.  When he did find me, we were on opposite sides of a fence and he started bitching to me about his having to enduring listening to a street preacher because of the location I had suggested we meet at (the first place I happened to see that was distinctive (Moe's)) and parking woes and before he could continue I cut him off with a still slightly hangry, "Oh, nice to see you too!  I woke up at 5am this morning and just finishing running 6 miles and almost had to slay people to get a muffin and a bottle of water and I'm glad you didn't burst into flames being in the presence of a street preacher."  He quickly got the point.

We agreed to eat lunch downtown since several places were having specials for race participants.  We ended up at Joe Pasta, but I think I want to try Virginia's on King next time we're downtown.  I had shrimp and grits because that's a thing down here and I've decided that's THE meal to make the determination if a restaurant is good or not, since practically every restaurant serves it here.

After brunch, Mr. Scrooge went off on a ride while Teh MD Adult Roomie and I went to TCBY and picked up her car at the coliseum and then made a quick stop at Target, then headed home for showers and naps.

Sharing a bowl was the perfect amount.  Why would this be a 1 person serving, ever?  Ugh, America, this is why you so fat!

After naps, I got up and started making dinner since we were having people and dogs over.  My lasagna ended up being super wet (I think because the mushrooms were juicy) so it ended up looking pretty horrible, but I think it tasted delicious (a super healthy block of Velveeta cheese will do that).

After a while, we let the doggies in after washing their paws off.  We've taken to just leaving a bucket of water outside and dunking the dogs feet in it before they come inside.  Before we were just wiping off the mud with a towel, but the swamp yard has become a monster that is practically untameable.

Desoto (galgo) and Tempe (greyhound) take naps after zoomies in the yard.

I was torn between the punny "sharpest tool in the shed" and "Space Jam on VHS".  Space Jam ultimately won because I'm pretty sure that would be what Teh Sister would trade 200 cigarettes for if she was in jail.

Olive was pooped after all her zoomies and terrorizing Meri.

After all the company left, it was bedtime.  Fortunately, our friends have early bedtimes, so we were able to get to bed pretty early ourselves.

SUNDAY

There was a loose outline of activities for Sunday, but no specific time-frames which was nice.  Teh MD Adult Roomie and our discussed our trip to DW next Feb for the Glass Slipper Challenge (GSC).  We decided on doing the 5k on Friday, in addition to the GSC.  We also decided on staying at a resort on DW so we don't have to deal with traffic getting to the race, only catching a shuttle.  Our final agreement was on NOT doing the parks.  Neither of us feel like going to the parks is going to be high on our list after running 3 days in a row, especially for such long distances.  I know that Mr. Scrooge has never been to the parks, so I'd still like to be able to do that with him one day, but I don't think GSC weekend is going to be that time.

Eventually, we decided to get ready and head out to the bee expo.  I have been looking for local honey for a few months now since I'm allergic to the world and I hadn't been able to find it.  I KNEW that there would be local honey there.  We got to sample several different types of honey.  The best presentation was the booth who let us sample spring, summer, and fall honey.  I preferred the spring.  Mr. Scrooge preferred the fall.  I ended up getting wild flower honey from a different booth.  I also sampled the honey that I found online by the Savannah Bee Company, and it turns out their Charleston honey is delicious.

We met Teh SC House Finder, Teh Architect, and 1st Grade Teacher Assistant at the bee expo since Teh Architect had left his jacket at our house on Saturday night.  He ended up coming to do go karts with us, which was awesome.  You should be aware that I still came in first place this time.  LIKE A BOSS.  The dude that assigned our carts said that 1st place was really determined by who had the best lap time, but don't play dude, the first person to pass that checkered flag is the winner and that was this girl.  I had the shortest lap time for about 75% of the race.

Because we were the only ones in the place, our 2 races were combined and it felt pretty short.  Then Teh Architect suggested we do lazer tag, so we bought tickets and made the mistake of letting in the game master play on a team.  Yeah, poor life choice.  That would be Randy Olsen.  We were the red team, so I was pretty pumped about placing 2nd since the game master was on the blue team.  The Joker was me, I was awarded Trigger Happy.  Accurate.  I was sad that Godzilla was a gun that didn't get used because I would have liked to see who was actually the worst shot.

Terminator = Teh Architect, Spiderman and Nightwing = Mr. Scrooge (he had gun issues). Mad Max = Teh MD Adult Roomie, The Joker = Teh Megan.

Since we hadn't eaten lunch because Mr. Scrooge had made breakfast after I made muffins, we ended up having early dinner at Manny's with Teh SC House Finder and 1st Grade Teacher Assistant after lazer tag.  We were going to go to Sesame, but they were closed and we were all pretty crushed.  The hummus almost made up for the fact that I didn't get my adult milkshake, but then we had the discussion that the Manny's by the outlets wasn't as good as the Manny's in West Ashley because their menu's were different and they wouldn't take Teh SC House Finder's coupon... DUMB.  BUTTTTTTT delicious hummus.

After lunch, Teh MD Adult Roomie, Mr. Scrooge and I headed to Cycle Gear so Mr. Scrooge could buy new motorcycle tires, then he was a good sport while Teh MD Adult Roomie and I hit up Loft at the Outlets and Oakley because my sunglasses are pulling my hair, bleh.  Teh MD Adult Roomie and I bought some stuffs at Loft, despite my observation that they don't really make shirts for big boobs.  I needed some thinner/short sleeve tops to wear this summer (after this winter stint ends).

After shopping, we headed home and Mr. Scrooge mowed the lawn while Teh MD Adult Roomie and I did house work inside.  She INSISTED on vacuuming/cleaning my floors.  I tried to stop her.  Siiiigh.  To celebrate the weekend, I signed up for the Tarheel 10 Miler, sadly, I missed the "Crash the Party" sign up, but I'm hoping to pick up an NC State shirt at the expo (and if I can't find one, I'm bringing an NC State shirt anyways).  Teh Advising Sister has already told me she will let me crash at her place, even though she is going to be out of town, which makes me sad.

It felt like it should have been 6pm at 8pm, which is always confusing for me.  I managed to talk Teh MD Adult Roomie into doing puzzle with me.  We had allotted an hour to puzzle, but ended up being up until 10:30, which was an hour longer than we had originally said and 30 minutes after I said, "We'll stop after this song."  Yeah, OCD > will power.

The edge was already done, but we did get get some big chunks completed.

MONDAY

In the middle of the night, I woke up and smelled poop and pulled the covers over my head to block out the smell so I could go back to sleep.  I just couldn't.  When I did finally get up, I kicked the dogs out of the bedroom while I shampooed the carpets.  When I was finished, I was rinsing the dirty water reservoir when Teh MD Adult Roomie asked, "What is that smell."  I said, "Poop," thinking it was just the remnants.  Oh no.. Those asshole dogs had left me an additional 2 piles of poop in the living room and entry way because I hadn't kicked them out of the house or fed them.  Which meant that the first 45 minutes of my morning was spent cleaning poopy carpets.  Last week started this same way and I'm already not pleased.

AND Teh MD Adult Roomie left this morning so I'm all the sads with my shitty morning.  I did decide to order a different food for the dogs, hoping that it will solve the poop issues my dogs are experiencing.  This is the most poop I've dealt with in such a short period of time, ever.

Nonetheless, it was an absolutely fabulous weekend and I'd do it over again in a heartbeat.  I can haz more Teh MD Adult Roomie in my life all the time????

Five on Friday #46

UNO

I threatened to stay at home another day if Mr. Scrooge didn't follow my medication directions/schedule.  It worked like a charm.  The drugs really kick his ass though, so I can understand why he doesn't want to take them, but at the same time... don't be ridiculous and just enjoy being legally stoned.  Duh.

I have been laying out his antibiotic and pain pill when I leave in the morning.  I'm nice like that.  Then he informed me when I asked if he had taken them that he had only taken 1 of his antibiotic pills "to make them last longer."

I had to laugh, and then I asked if he had read the instructions and when he said no, I said, "I know, cause I did read them.. 2 at the same time."  No really, he's cute... and now with a new and improved schnoz.

He was quite relieved when I told him he could take an allergy pill.  Allergy pills make our world go round.  I'm not sure how either of us would function without them.

DOS

Some days I walk in to Company and it feels like it's been way longer than a little over a month that I've been working here and it feels weird.  Some days I walk in in the office and everything feels completely normal and exactly right.  Strange how that works.

Sometimes it also hits me that I get to edit documents for a living and I used to think that was an "easy" job and I got the verbal smack down from someone at VX-1 for that, which was deserved.  It seems quite easy in theory.. But then I'm working with a document and those stupid styles come into play and who has ever used those before?  No one, duh.  Yeah, me now.  This must be what adulthood is..  Using all those special features on things you never cared about before.

TRES

There is a Glass Slipper Challenge group on FB and I get sooooo much motivation from them.  I don't often participate in the conversation because most of them are about the past races, but watching the chatter gets me so unbearably excited.

Anyone have any suggestions for costumes?  I'm think Stitch for one race (yeah, I don't care that he's not a princess, he's awesome and makes me think of Meri and that kind of energy is what I'm going to need to accomplish 19.3 or 22.4 miles (5k dependent)) and I'm up for suggestions on the other.

We are already planning and considering doing the 10k solo to possibly set our PRs and then together for the half so we can get character photos together.  We also discussed doing the 5k since we'll already be there and why not?!  It's only 3.1 miles.. that's a "short" run, lol.

QUATRO

This weekend has ZERO plans right now.  Teh SC House Finder asked if we wanted to go to a wine festival this week, but both Mr. Scrooge and I kinda shuttered at the idea of paying $70 a person to get in.  Instead, I suggested we go to Kohl's since I have ALL THE COUPONS!! (a 30% and a $10 and 2 $5 off) and he never got his replacement jeans and I want/need more sports bras.

Only having 3 with underwire means that I have to laundry mid-week if I want to workout every day.  Teh Motivator and Teh Work Mentor strongly advised me to get sports bras with underwire last summer when I was half marathon training and they changed my life!  What sucks is that I'd already invested a hefty amount in the shitty, non-underwire sports bras by that point.  Those have to go...

This situation was only further exacerbated when Mr. Scrooge delivered a sports bra to me at work earlier this week because I had forgotten to pack one in my gym back and he brought me an non-underwire one, which meant that I went to the gym that day instead of starting my running training.  He had good intentions though, so I didn't even torment him about the fact that the "good" ones were still on the drying rack, which he walked right by when he left the house.  Seriously, cute.

 Also, #firstworldproblem much, Megan?  Looolz.

This one is for all my Gentle Readers who are into boobs.  You're welcome.  Don't ever say I never gave you nothin.

CINCO

I thought Friday would never come.  Jebus.  I think part of it was that I didn't feel like I got to rest last weekend since Teh Dad and Teh Stepmom were here.  Then Mr. Scrooge's surgery, then working from home.  My schedule was all jacked up.  I'm looking forward to sleeping in and getting my Meri snuggles tomorrow morning then doing some reading and blogging this weekend (because Tuesday is Jana's book review and I'm on top of that shit this month).  Laziness, here I come!!!!

Happy Friday, Gentle Readers.

Weekend Review {3/2}

FRIDAY

Because of the meeting I endured last week, I not only got to go to lunch with Mr. Scrooge and Teh Wisconsin Blond, but I also got to leave work early and hit up the gym.  WIN.  Thursday's session had be rough (my "book" was dead AND I hadn't brought earbuds, so it was a verrrry long 35 minutes where I judged the shit out of the other gym patrons), so it was nice to have Teh Flamin' Kindle recharged so I could entertain myself.

I got honked at for this one, but seriously?

After the gym, I came home and was lazy until Mr. Scrooge got home from his ride and Teh Dad and Teh Stepmom finally arrived.  Mr. Scrooge made chicken and dumplings for dinner and we watched TV (ughhh) until it was time for bed.

Side note: I do not think of watching tv as a "family activity."  Nope, nope, nope.  Sitting together in a room staring at a screen isn't hanging out together.  It's not hanging out together unless you are communicating with each other.  Apparently, this is a rare view since many people (and ex-bfs) are of the opinion that watching tv together is "hanging out together."  No.

SATURDAY

No one was motivated on Saturday morning to get out of bed.  I was nice and took over dog feeding duty even though I had already told Mr. Scrooge it was his job before we went to sleep.  I went back to bed for a little while and Mr. Scrooge and I had agreed that we'd make egg, bacon, and tater tots for breakfast and then get the day started.  As soon as I came in to shower, hoping that Mr. Scrooge would make the eggs while I showered, he decided HE was going to shower.  The desire to kill him was HIGH.  He lived to see another day.

While I was showering, he did make the eggs, so there was that.

After breakfast was finished, Teh Stepmom got ready while I looked for coupons and quadruple checked with Mr. Scrooge there was nothing he needed to add to The List before we left for the store.  We headed to Target first since there is a Starbucks there.  Mostly because Mr. Scrooge and I don't keep coffee in the house.  I know he has a coffee maker somewhere in the cabinets, but I don't buy actual coffee since we both only drink coffee at work.  I do buy creamer for both of us, but that is to be delivered to our respective work places.  After coffee was acquired by Teh Stepmom and I, we picked up the items on my list.  We'd gotten a late start, I was hoping to be at the store by 11ish, and it was more like noon when we arrived.

Fortunately, I had a list so it wasn't like we needed to meander around much.  After Target, we had to stop at Walmart since I needed to pick up Dog peanut butter and a bag of dog food.  It really sucks that Walmart is the only place I've found that sells the mega huge size container of PB that we go through every month... then again.  I did see Mr. Scrooge fill up the kongs this weekend and I started to understand why we ran out so quickly this month.

The big event of the weekend was the fact that we were doing indoor go-karts.  We had agreed to be there at 2.  Teh Stepmom and I met Teh Dad, Mr. Scrooge and Teh Wisconsin Blond there.  Because I failed to listen to my voicemail Friday night, I didn't know that the new realtor had "scheduled" for the old realtor to come to the house at 1:30 to check out some issues.  So when Mr. Scrooge was trying to leave, that horrid realtor that I thought we were free of, knocks on his window and has to come in and look around.  He was a little late, but they made it.

Honestly, I was excited in theory.. but I was a little worried at it being INDOOR go-karts.  Mostly because I was basing my go-kart experience on the Bahrain go-karts which was fucking fantastic.  We had to wait over an hour for our turn to go, but it was AWESOME when we did.  1. Mr. Scrooge and Teh Wisconsin Blond had been shit talking the entire time.  They had decided they were team-not-Teh-Megan-Family and Teh Dad, Teh Stepmom, and I were team-Teh-Megan-Family.  2. Teh Dad had already said that he was going to beat everyone when I approached him with the idea of go-kart, pfth.  3. I didn't engage in shit-talking for the most part.  I just listened (and I was pissed off because I had been told to "stop yelling" which I'm over hearing) and people watched and waited.

1st/2nd winners.

We could have done laser tag while we waited, but we didn't.  There were several parties going on, so there were lots of children, which was a bit overwhelming for me.  Apparently, everyone except Teh Stepmom was extremely competitive.  Teh Dad was driving like we were NASCAR racers.  He rammed me into the wall so hard I got whiplash.  When he was complaining of his shoulder hurting because of the way he was driving, I told him I had no sympathy based on how many times he'd hit me while we were racing.  Teh Dad won the first race and I won the second race.  When I got out of my kart is when my shit-talking started.  "BOOM BITCHES!  BEAT ALL OF YOU SHIT-TALKERS!  BEAT BY A GIRL!  WHHHHHAAAATTTT????????"  Yeah.  No shame.  I was actually lucky Teh Dad messed up on his 8th lap in the 3rd corner and swung out too far, which meant that I was able to overtake him on the inside (like every good racer knows to do).  He CLAIMS he let me win, but I know better than that.  He'd NEVER LET me win.  He's always the wiser, baddest dad.  I won, fair and square.  Teh Stepmom came in last both races and Mr. Scrooge and Teh Wisconsin Blond took 3/4th.

He might have had a faster lap time, but he was NOT #1.

#1 BITCHESSSSSS

After go-karts, we headed home and and started dinner.  Steaks and salad, nommmm.  After dinner, we watched Crazy. Stupid. Love and Big Fish and snuggled the shit out of cute doggies.  Seriously though, watching TV together is NOT hanging out together.  I would have rather played a game or something, but Mr. Scrooge didn't want to and he had to go to bed early since he had to be at work in the middle of the night for an exercise (don't feel bad for him, he had all day Friday off).

SUNDAY

Meri decided that when Mr. Scrooge came home at 4am it was time to be awake and I was not pleased.  She wouldn't settle so I let them out, then got up again to feed the dogs breakfast an hour and a half later.  I was NOT in the mood for shenanigans and I went back to bed after feeding the dogs.  It had been decided that we'd leave at 10 for brunch at Another Broken Egg Cafe (our, apparent, go to brunch place now since they allow call ahead reservations).  We left around 10:30 and made it to ABE Cafe by 11 and then spent the next hour and a half waiting to be sat and on our food.  I was hangry to say the least.

After a delicious breakfast, we walked through the market and then Mr. Scrooge and I headed back to get Yurtle in the rain.  Since it was raining, we couldn't really walk around downtown like we'd wanted to, but that was ok with me because I did lunges at the gym on Friday and holy hell my butt hurt sooooo bad.

When we got back, Teh Dad tried to replace a toilet seat (which I had been unsuccessful at because the screws are so rusted in that they strip when you try to unscrew them...) and stopped our toilets from constantly running.  He's great.  After we finished watching Big Fish, Teh Dad and Teh Stepmom headed back to home, home.

Mr. Scrooge and I had a lazy evening.  After making pizza for dinner and finishing up Game of Thrones season 4, Mr. Scrooge played video games while I researched runDisney and tried to read ALL THE BLOGS! from other runners who have participated in the Glass Slipper Challenge/Princess Runs and talked with Teh MD Adult Roomie about possibly doing the Bridge Run while they are here at the end of the month.  Not just to do it (which I did actually want to do it), but also so we I have a race time to register for the Glass Slipper Challenge with.  I really want to do a Hot Chocolate 10k, but the closest one to me is in Hotlanta and it was in January, so it won't happen again until 2016.  BOOOOOOO.

Overall, it was an excellent weekend.  Sadly, there wasn't a lot of excellent sleep that happened, so I'm afraid I'm going to be dragging all week.  I did manage to download some Grey's Anatomy S11 episodes and get them uploaded to Teh Flamin' Kindle after some technical difficulties, so now I have something to watch at the gym... which won't happen if Teh MD Adult Roomie and I decide to do the Bridge Run, since I'll have to start training.  Ugh/YAY running!  Boo, missing my "reading" time on the elliptical.

Me+Princess Runs.

Happy Monday, Gentle Readers!
