Weekend Review {4/6}

I could have made time on Friday to post, but I didn't.  #SorryNotSorry

FRIDAY

I got up with Teh German so I could get some shit accomplished in the AM.  Teh PT Wife and I headed to Sam's so we'd be there when they opened.  I finally managed to acquire some chicken, we had none, but there was a limit of 1 pack.. so at least I have 3 meals worth from the 1 pack since these chicken breasts came from Godzilla chickens.

We got in line at 5 minutes till opening time...
You can't even see the door from this point.
As soon as they opened, all social distancing went to shit.

After Sam's we made a pit stop at Krispy Kreme, because obviously that is a necessity.

Then we headed back home.  I did some work things and enjoyed socializing with my coworkers for Friday Beer Lunch on Zoom.  After the meeting ended, I headed over to Teh PT House for socializing since I felt like I was in the way since the cleaner was at the house.

Fun fact, if you ever wonder why nothing grows but weeds in our yard, please see the below photo for reasons why:

Exhibit A: RED CLAY FOR DAYS.

This photo is of a future pool, but I felt like it validated so many things about why I hate gardening.  Maybe if I could get shit to actually grow I wouldn't hate it so much, buttttttttt this is what I'm contending with.  Anddd if you click on that photo, you'll see that there is no "good" dirt at the top for growing things.. Just red clay.  Know what doesn't stimulate growth of anything?  Red fucking clay.  End rant.

Anyways, the rest of the afternoon/evening was spent enjoying outside and enjoying adult beverages.  It had been planned to get Chinese for dinner, but ALL of the Chinese places are closed.  After calling 5 places and getting no answer, we gave up and finally succumbed to Mexican for dinner, which Teh PT Husband picked up.

After Teh German got off work, he came over for socializing... and then he was called back into work for an emergency, which succcckkkeed.  We went over to Roux's House to check out the new screened-in porch for a while and to spread our Rona to the neighbors.

Eventually, we headed home which coincided with Teh German's arrival back home, conveniently.  Shortly after, it was bedtime since Saturday was productive day.

SATURDAY

We had a semi-slow start on Saturday, but it had been decided that we would 100% hang the rest of the shit on Saturday so that way the house was completely put back together.  You see, this was a real commitment because 1- it involved Teh German and I working together on something (always a struggle), 2- neither of us really wanted to do it (even though we both wanted it done).

For the most part, I managed to mitigate Teh German and I actually working on the same thing at the same time.  I had him do separate hanging things while I cleaned off all the frames for the living room (the other frames had already been cleaned, but I hadn't hung them yet) and then started work on the living room gallery wall.

Teh German managed the kitchen/dining room hanging and then when I'd ask for opinions on where to put frames, he'd give me his opinion.  I started out trying to replicate the gallery wall that we had before, but it didn't workout and it's fine.  It was giving me anxiety trying to replicate it, so I finally just overcame that problem and had Teh German help me with placement... and with handing me things.  I was up and down the step-stool a millionty time and I hope I reached my step goal.  Considering I did a half marathon on Thursday afternoon, my legs were sore and going up/down made me want to die on the inside, sooo if my goal wasn't met, I still consider it met, kthx.

Final positioning of the bedroom frames
andddd some mishaps (broken frame because cheap and a scuff on the wall, of fucking course).

Our neighborhood finally joined the cool kids and we had 2 food trucks serving dinner on Saturday evening.  Johnny Poppers (burgers) and Holy Roller (ice cream), count me in!  Apparently, towards the end, the cops were called because of a "gathering", which seems kinda shitty, but not surprising with the people in our neighborhood.  Most everyone was maintaining their social distancing, but whatever.

After dinner, Teh German headed out to go socialize and I stayed home to finish hanging the last few things.  After I was done, I headed to the computer for some online Cards Against Humanity with Teh Bestie and some others.  Unfortunately, my computer and I weren't on speaking terms, literally, as my mic wasn't being picked up and no sound was coming from my laptop, despite everything having tested perfectly on Wednesday AND my conference call on Friday afternoon working at 100%.  Siiiigh.  I spent an hour troubleshooting that, ended up installing a Windows update and deleting all of my sound devices and restarting so it would reinstall them automatically.  After frustrated tears, everything finally worked, even though I was an hour late to the game, despite having been ready 30 minutes prior to start time.  Le siiiiiigh.

Teh German came home while we were still playing, so we pulled him into the game and we sat on the couches on our laptops and played CAH with friends and listened to some jams.  Overall, it was a productive day, despite the frustrations.

SUNDAY

Sunday runday.  Teh PT Wife and I headed out at 8 to get some miles in.  I suggested only a 10k so I could get my German Corona medal and she was game.  I ended up doing over 7 miles total with my run and a dog walk.  I also wasn't dealing with Meri's shit, so I walked back down the boring way so I didn't have to endure her duck/goose hunting as we walked down the street.  I'm sure she'll eventually figure out she can duck hunt from this direction too, but I'm going to enjoy my arm not being pulled out of it's socket until then.

While all that was happening, Teh German and Teh PT Husband started a digging project that involved renting equipment and lots of manual labor.  After breakfast and a shower, I headed to the computer to accomplish some homework things.  After 2 hours of no-success on my research project, I finally just went back to the stone age and used Excel to do some analysis of my data, like a cavewoman.  Siiiigh.

I caught Teh German and Teh PT Husband right before they took the rental equipment back and suggested we do Buffalo Wild Wings for dinner, since I had called and confirmed they were open, and they agreed.  They picked up the order on the way back home and I had ZERO regrets.

After dinner, I hung out with Teh PT Kid and Teh PT Wife, assisting with homework things and watching Max and Marcy be goofy.  Eventually, I headed back home and knocked out some German homework.  Teh German eventually came home and showered and had some, well-deserved, screentime.  I was surprised that he didn't go to bed early, but he's an adult and can make his own choices.

After finishing my hw, I started the laundry and brushed my teeth and headed to bed for some screentime.  Teh German came upstairs soon after I was in bed.  We chatted for a little bit, but I could tell he was tired, so I let him fall asleep.  After I ran out of lives on my Disney Emoji Blitz game, it was sleepytime for me too.

______________________________________________

Overall, a very, VERY needed weekend.  It was a good mix of productive and relaxing.  Last week was such a rage-induced shitshow that Friday I mostly skated through work because I didn't want anyone to set me off.  The house is finally back to it's pre-painted state, which makes my brain sigh in relief.  There are several holes and paint touch ups that need to happen, but honestly, I'm not super worried about it until everything comes off the walls again... unless Teh German says something, then fine, I'll take care of it.

Since I don't really have a set school schedule anymore, I don't display it on my Google Calendar anymore and it looks like I have ALL THE FREE TIME!  I don't, but it gives me hope.  22 more days until classes end.  I still have the 3 finals, but no one has mentioned when those will be taking place, so I'm just going to endure those as they come.

There is going to be a virtual commencement ceremony, but I'm not planning on watching/attending that.  I'm sad I won't get my scroll photo with the ring, but I guess that's the trade off for all the gas I saved not having to go to campus every day for 2 months.  I already told Teh German that HIS graduation present from ME for dealing with me for the last 3 years his the new exhaust for Lars-Ludwig.  He said something about ordering it over it the weekend, but he didn't ask for my credit card (which I told him to do so I could pay for it), so I'm not sure if it happened.

Our Greyhound picnic was officially cancelled and so now my Current Happenings folder in my email is completely empty, le sigh.

We're already 6 days into April and it still feels like the March that never ends, I guess that gives March madness a whole new definition!

Five on Friday #174

EINS - Random Shit

-So I'm sick.  I want to die.  It's totally a thing.  Went to the doc on Wednesday and she has no idea what is wrong with me.  I have a slight fever, the strep test came back negative, and there might be some infection in my sinuses.  🤷  The doc prescribed me an antibiotic that is a distant penicillin relative (which I'm definitely allergic to), and we were worried it might kill me for the first 24-48 hours of me taking it.  I'm still alive, and no allergic reaction yet.  For real though, I carried around 2 benedryl in my pocket for the first 24 hours after taking it.

-I'm not ready for school to start back.  I don't really feel like I got anything accomplished over break since I was sick.  Granted, I'd rather be sick over a break than be sick and have to miss class.  So it's a trade off.

-Today was my first day back at the gym in over a week (since I don't go to the gym within 3/4 days of a run-race) and I wanted to die.  Sickness + not having gone in over a week + being a fat ass yesterday?  Kill.me.now.please.

-There is homework I need to accomplish.  I'm not interested.  In fact, I'm feeling pretty checked out of the remainder of this semester.  This is no bueno.

-I learned a cool Cricut trick yesterday to "write" on the stickers to make them all stay in place.  I'm excited to try this on a large scale.  My Cricut likes to pretend it knows what to do better than me, BUT IT IS WRONG.

-The 99% off sale by Cards Against Humanity is awesome, but too time consuming for me to really care.

-Soooo soooo soooo badly I want to do a Ragnar race.  This is where you and 11 other people run 200 miles in 2 days on almost no sleep while living in a 15 passenger van.

-Monday, Tuesday, AND Wednesday, we had some sort of pasta.  This is an impressive record for me, Gentle Readers, as I tend to stay away from pasta.  Lasagna from the freezer on Monday since it was minimal effort, chicken and bok choy ramen on Tuesday, then beef stroganoff on Wednesday.  I'm not sure Teh German appreciated this as much as he should have.

-My favorite part of any Thanksgiving/Christmas (which is kinda like Thanksgiving 2) meal is the stuffing and the sweet potatoes and either chocolate or lemon pie.  The rest of it is optional.  I know.  I'm weird.

-We went to Teh PT House for Thanksgiving dinner and it was awesome.  I made homemade mac and cheese with velveeta (like Teh Mom used to/does) and every person who is super picky about food they like said it was the best mac and cheese they'd ever eaten.

-Also, Teh Sister said that she was kinda jealous of my chocolate pie because it was completely set and she's been having issues with her pies setting.  #WIN.  PS. I'm not the cooking sibling.  That's Teh Sister.  I'm the one everyone thought would need to hire a cook to live past the age of 30.  #HereWeAre

-Good thing Thanksgiving Break isn't over yet.  I still need to watch Catch & Release, which is already loaded in the DVD player.

-I've been wearing Teh Running Bestie's Garmin.  Gentle Readers, step tracking IS STUPID.  This stupid thing doesn't properly track my going up and down stairs and it sometimes gives me steps before I'm even out of the bed because I've pet Meri or rolled over and grabbed my phone.  And also, unless I run, I won't make my step "goal".  I just won't.  I don't even care.  Who the fuck actually NEEDS that many steps (at least 5000 per day is what the Garmin sets my "goal" at, stupid, stupid, stupid)?

-I got so many awesome shirts last weekend at the expo.  Mostly workout shirts because I needed some race and gym shirts since my race outfits are.. lacking.  #FirstWorldProblems, I know.

-I have 5 credits I need to use on Audible before I cancel my account (since I reactivated the other account), this is one of the most difficult problems I have to deal with, I'm certain.  I have to make good choices and still meet certain standards (purchased audiobooks may not be shorter than 10 hours).

ZWEI - Money Shit

Fuck me I went Black Friday shopping after being out of town the weekend prior.  Goodbye dollas.

-Old Navy - clothes for Teh German and myself.  Did we neeeeed new clothes?  Not really, but I'm using this as an excuse to purge.

-Dick's - new running shoes.  This was a need and pre-decided on.  I ended up buying 2 new pairs of running shoes.  1 will be put away for when my favorite pair finally gives up on me.  Again, with the purging.

-Best Buy - Back when I lived in Pax River, I used to scan stuff on ShopKick all.the.time.  I had 33,000 points that I'd never done anything with.  Well, after I decided NOT to buy a new laser printer that I really wanted, I realized that I could get some gift certificates with all those ShopKick points.  After a little bit of scanning last night at Best Buy, I ended up with $135 in gift certificates for Best Buy.  I/They couldn't find the printer I wanted in the store, so I came home and ordered it online for the same price.  Done.

-Kohl's - another pre-determined purchase, after a dog (PAX) ripped a hole in our already ripped comforter a few weeks ago, I need/wanted to get another comforter.  It worked itself out that I had a spare king-sized comforter on hand from the guest room, which just happened to be wayyyyyyy too big for the guest bed since it's low to the ground.  So I ended up buying 2 different comforters in queen size.  I'll see which one I like and return the other, probably.  Unless I like both and then I'll keep both and we'll have a back up for when the dogs (inevitably) rip this comforter.  #ThisIsWhyICantHaveNiceThings.  I also purchased a pair of capri workout britches for myself.  I've been on the hunt, so this was also a semi-planned purchase.

-Brooks - When I discovered that the shoes I had purchased at Dick's also came in black, I got pissed because I'd been looking for plain black shoes for walking/casual wear.  They showed on the Dick's website, but couldn't be ordered online and they were not available in any store.  This extra sucked, because it meant I had to pay full price for them rather than getting the 25% off.  BOO.  I did get a stupid ugly christmas sweater shirt with my $120 purchase, but still.  I'd rather get 25% off, kthx.

-Cards Against Humanity - I bought the new expansion and I tried to buy some of their 99% off crap, but wasn't successful.  Oh well.

-Target - Since Teh PT Wife and I were by Target, we perused the store and picked up a few things.  I found some squeaky toys for Meri for Christmas, Pax was already taken care of at Halloween, and some oreos and a white shirt to replace the one that I accidentally tinted blue while we were in Australia, and some Nexium.  I know, real solid Black Friday purchases going on there.

-Audible - I have 2 Audible accounts I switch between depending on if there is a sale running, since sales never apply to current subscribers, which I find incredibly infuriating.  For Black Friday you can pay $7 per month for 3 months.  Done.

All the food/travel things for a Runcation.
-baggage fees (rude)
-eating, plenty of that.
-expo purchases (a percussion massager (WORTH IT), shirts)

Real life purchases:
-Spotify subscription
-Groceries x2
-Dairy Queen blizzard
-Willow's first doctor appointment (first oil change)

DREI - From My Phone Shit

When Husband says, "There's cough drops in the pantry."
And this is what you find.
Honey, that doesn't look like plural cough drops....
Also, what monster only leaves ONE cough drop in the bag?

Nurses have been on duty all week.

Care package from Teh Stepmom was a sweet surprise!

When you wash a linty blanket with your towels and then you have hairy pits and have to rewash ALL the towels.

Nurses on duty again.

When NOT to speak to your Husband.  ^^^

I know it's first worldy, but this plastic drain cover thingy brings me so much joy.
Being able to cover my knees AND my boobs?  #WorthIt

At least his ass isn't on MY pillow.
./shrug

#ThanksgivingBreakGoals
Check.

The beasts rode with me to pick up my meds after my doc visit.

I attempted to make beef (bison) stroganoff.
It was ok.

Morning snuggles

Coffee and chocolate pie filling for breakfast,
it's looking a little like Thanksgiving or Christmas around here.

I also had a poached egg and toast and it kinda looked like a smiley face, lol.

Teh German turned on the dog show for me while I was cooking mac and cheese for Thanksgiving dinner.

Found my EXACT Tamagotchi at Best Buy.
How are these still $20.  I do not understand.

This may be a TMI, but I'm on an antibiotic for whatever sickness I currently have and my doc gave me this for just in case.  #LadyProblems, ya'll.
Came home from the gym this morning and found this.
Thanks, Meri.

Five on Friday #148

EINS - Random Shit

-I have a lot of adopted family member.  My newest adoption is Teh PT Husband's Mom.  She delivered exam brownies to us yesterday.

-Megan Struggle:
I hate knowing that I know how to do something, except that I don't KNOW how to do it exactly, so I can't do it at all.  If that doesn't make any sense, let me explain.  For my computer science final (4 questions, 25 pts each, so ya know, BFD), there was a question about reading a string into a stack and then return the string backwards.  As in, input = Megan, output = nageM.  I have been taught how to do this, but it was last semester and I've slept since then so I could not for the life of me remember HOW to do it.  This is my least favorite thing because I HATE being bad at something.

I also had an issue with question 4, but I was sooo close to the solution and I wasn't the only one struggling with that, so I don't feel so bad about that.  My professor showed me the answer after I turned in my exam and I would have never remembered to use the way she showed me, so I feel less bad about that.  But that backwards string is going to give me nightmares.

-Amazon Prime is going to start costing $119 a year starting in June.  No me gusta.

-Dear Coworker,
I don't know why you feel the need to TELL me before and after you do/send me something, but it's completely unnecessary. I promise I can read and I'm intelligent enough to understand the words in your email and what they mean to me.  Save your breath.

-I don't buy CAH expansions when they come out because you get free shipping if you buy at least $25 worth.  So I finally caught up and got these bad boys...

Week Pack, Period Pack, Blanks, College Pack

Rolling papers came in the weed pack and that made me laugh.
Especially if you consider the following image..

Obviously the wrong kind of weed, but lawd we ain't got no grass and
I can't wait until we get that mulching problem tackled.

Finally, on CAH, I've decided that the next time we play, we're removing the shitty cards that no one knows or cares about. I've got enough cards at this point that getting rid of the "Hutus and Tutsis" card isn't going to hurt my collection.

-I'm writing this post in real time and it's before 0900 and so far this morning, this has happened:
~I rode Bagheera into work today and I was 10 minutes from home when someone tried to merge into my lane with me.  Thankfully, they heard my crappy horn.

Spilled coffee all over my desk and myself.

Tried to stop my shirt from staining and since the sleeve was soaked
I put it near the space heater to dry...

-I ended up paying almost $300 for one night in San Francisco on AirBnB because SF is rapey when it comes to lodging costs.  My goal was less than $150.  This is what happens when Teh German is looking over my shoulder and says, just book it.  /facepalm.  This is also why IIIIIIIII do/have done all the vacation planning.  Otherwise we'd be too poor to ever go on vacation...

-I've gotten more tasking in the last week than I've gotten in 3 months.  I love/hate it.

-Our replacement range was supposed to be delivered on Weds and then again on Thurs and well.. it's Friday and I still don't have it and I have to call Lowe's and I'm going to be stabby.  Oops.

-Chief Smartass obtained Woot Bag(s) 'o Crap for himself, Teh Running Bestie, and myself.  I'm excited and dreading it at the same time.

-It has come to my attention that when we are on our honeymoon, I will probably lose my 500 day streak on DuoLingo (it's actually 545 days but the app glitched because of an update and I lose my day count /rage).  I know that this doesn't matter in the real world, but I've obviously dedicated a LOT of time to this and it disappoints me a little bit.  #MeganProblems  The last time I took a DuoLingo break, I was gone for 3 months.

-Things that do NOT make me happy: being called the wrong name, anytime, ever.  For instance, on the conference call that I just wasted 1.5 hours of my life on that will benefit me in no way ever, one guy called me Becky and then someone else called me Becky and I finally said, Ok, I'm Megan, bye.  I CANNOT.

ZWEI - Money Shit

About half of it was useless.

Went on a lunchtime run with a Coworker on Thurs.

VIER - From the Internet Shit

Disney Fan Challenge!  Have you seen these things??
I hadn't even noticed some of these things.  I love articles like this.

How the human race has survived this long blows my mind.  The worst part is knowing these people (link about female reproductive system and people's opinions about how it works) are probably reproducing and their offspring have to endure their stupidity.

Have you heard of Nadia Cakes?  It doesn't matter.  Just go read this screenshot thread and let me know if you're crying by the end...

Oh how I love Rob Lowe.

#DamnTruth

The harder you pull, the more likely the drawer is NOT to open...

My neighborhood.  LAWD.

It's exam week, and well, the truth hurts...

And this is why laser is on the way!

IDK if you follow Teh Blog on FB, but there was an awesome thread when I shared this one.
We covered boobsweat and compliments.

FÜNF - Things that made me happy this week

  1. Grades being posted and assignments from March finally being graded and returned... /facepalm  Obviously that feedback was helpful........ NOT.
  2. Riding Bagheera.
  3. Middle of the day runs... aka running in general.
  4. Dresses with POCKETS!
  5. Successful online clothing purchases.
  6. Only having 1 exam until I am DUN with the Spring 2018 semester.
  7. Using the range.  Like, I use our stove/oven ALL THE TIME NOW.
  8. Using laundry detergent again.  I am now confident our clothes are clean... and I know that my clothes will still smell fresh after they've been hanging for more than a week....
  9. Meri and Pax being adorable.
  10. Teh German making plans to tame the yard with me.  He migrates outside when spring/summer hits and that means more Megan time for me.

Happy Friday, Gentle Readers.
