Weekend Review {7/3}

FRIDAY

When Teh German left for work on Friday morning, I told him that we would have date night when he came home.  I had no idea what we would do, but I figured I could come up with something before Teh German came home from work.

I accomplished work things, figured out date night, and my Costco order was delivered around 11:15 (yep that's my referral link).  I had a promo code to try out Instacart (a grocery delivery service) and is there really anything better for a person who shouldn't be driving?  I think not.  I was impressed.  I actually referred my coworkers who take care of ordering the snack/coffee stuff for the kitchen because going to Costco is really such an endeavor.  The prices were a wee bit higher than what I've seen in the store (like $0.01-$0.50 more-ish), but I assume that's to make up for the service.  You can choose to waive or add a service charge.  The stores they shop at are based on your zip code.  For me, Publix and Costco were the only options.  This was fine with me, because it meant I got to shop at Costco without having a Costco membership.  #notsorry.

I accomplished more work things while the dogs napped the day away.  Around the time I was wrapping things up, Teh PT Husband texted me to ask if it was a good time for the camera guy to come over and troubleshoot our system.  It wasn't since I was looking pretty ratchet and had intended on going to shower, but I said it was fine.  While he worked on the system, I worked on puzzle.

He did not get the issued fixed, but I finished a puzzle and finally headed upstairs to take a shower.  Right as I was getting in the shower, Teh German gets home and says, "You haven't showered yet?"  I explained the day and told him we weren't in a hurry.

I had several options for date night.
-Go to Metto and go swing at Waterfront Memorial Park.  This idea was dashed due to rain.
-Go to one of the BYOB paint things.  I found one in West Ashley that was painting the bridge that evening.. and well, we know what kind of a weakness I have for the Ravenel Bridge.
-Dinner and a movie.. booooooring.

I searched on Groupon for BYOB paint events and didn't find anything.. instead, I found a Groupon for a range in West Ashley for 2 people.  Teh German and I have been talking about going shooting since forever, so I finally... bit the bullet. HA!

I bought the range Groupon and had a few restaurants picked out for Teh German to choose from (since he does better with options), Home Team BBQ, a new place we hadn't been to, hibachi, and as a final alternative, Sesame.

I had to keep the excitement of my grand ideas to myself all day because he wanted the evening to be a surprise, siiiiiiigh.  As a finale, I planned to go get growlers filled at Frothy Beard Brewery and/or Total Wine with Holy City Brewery as a last resort.  So my plans had backup plans.  It's no wonder I live so well with a German.  I did tell Teh German about my intentions to fill up growlers since he was bound to notice it sitting on the kitchen island.  I also informed Teh PT Family about my growler intentions and we brought their growler with us to get filled.

We headed to West Ashley for dinner after I finished getting ready a bit after 5.  We encountered a sea of brake lights when we were about to get on 26, so we just took the scenic route instead.  For dinner, Teh German selected Home Team BBQ (which was what I was hoping for) and we got to park in our first date spot (which is even better than using the handicap placard).

After dinner, I turned on my GPS so Teh German could follow the directions to our entertainment for the night.  When we turned on the road and our destination was close, Teh German started to figure out where we were going.  The range also happens to be next door to a tattoo shop, so when Teh German said, "Are we going shooting?"  I responded, "Nah, we're getting matching tattoos!"  He wasn't even a little bit fooled.

There was one other guy in the range shooting some machine gun looking thing.  Every time he shot, it would scare the life out of me.  Not necessarily because it was loud but because when I was standing there loading the magazine, I could feel the pressure of the air when he shot on my face.  It wasn't my jam.  So much so, I loaded my first bullet backwards and the worker standing in the range pointed out the bullet was backwards and I admitted that I knew it was backwards, but feeling the pressure on my face was freaking me out.

Teh German had some difficulties when the bottom of the magazine fell off during his first round of shooting.   They offered us a different gun, thankfully.  We ended up shooting 2 9mm, a .22, and 5.7mm handguns.  We definitely had a.. blast.. and I'd happily do it again/more often.  The only downside was that it was kind of expensive.  It was about $100 total, including the Groupon.  But it was date night, so whatevs.

After shooting, we headed to Frothy Beard for a growler and then to Total Wine.

The last time we got a growler, Teh German had me hold it and I didn't like it very much because it was cold and wet on my leg and it was unpleasant in every way.  This time, Teh German prepared by bringing the laundry basket and dog blankets to wrap the growlers in.  At first I didn't get it, but once I understood what he was planning, I was pleased.

When we got home, we released the beasts then the fam headed over to Teh PT House to deliver the beer and have smoking hour.  Teh PT Wife and I also completed a puzzle.

Eventually, it got late and it was bedtime.

SATURDAY

We had a slow start on Saturday.  I wanted to go to Goodwill to find a Grease-themed costume for Grease singalong night at the piano bar and to Walmart to pick up a few items, but otherwise, no plans until the singalong.  Teh German worked on breaking down pallets for his garage project while I was out.

Herpaderp cream made me look like Natalie Portman from Star Wars (with the stripe on my lip)

I shouldn't have went to Walmart.  I knew better, it was Saturday, everyone else would be there.  My coupons didn't print correctly (the printed in a 4x6 area because my printer won't reset itself to normal page size since printing the RSVP envelopes).  When I got there, there was no handicapped parking (you don't realize how limited handicapped parking is until you NEED it).  When I got inside, I was informed that Walmart no longer offers baskets, I assume to encourage people to get a buggy so they buy more, which I refused to do.

When I was looking for shaving cream, a man looked over and asked, "Hip surgery?"  I said yes and he asked how long since the surgery.  I thought about it for a second and said, "Today is actually the one month mark.  Holy crap, why am I in Walmart at the one month mark?"  He laughed and told me to take my time recovering and we parted ways.  As it happens, I needed items from food and non-food sides of the store.

Normally, this is just a minor inconvenience.  On crutches, it becomes a little more dire.  I did opt to only bring one crutch since this is the week I'm weening myself off of the crutches. Oh yeah, and remember that I didn't have a basket, so I was holding 4-5 items in my arms/hanging from my fingers.  As I passed the accessories section, I grabbed a beach bag and dropped everything in it because I was over carrying shit.  I had considered getting a rolling cooler as I passed those, but I thought that might be annoying to drag behind me.  I picked up my food items and realized I had forgotten something in the medication section, so I had to go all the way back to the other side of the store.  I would have just ignored it, but I had a $7 off coupon and well, that was not to be snubbed.

When I finally made it to the registers to check out, there were 3 of 15 registers open, in true-Walmart way.  Of course, my coupons didn't work and the cashier had to call a manager over.  She would have had to call over a manager any way since the coupon was for a large amount.  We waited.  One manager came and said someone else would have to come.  2nd manager came and tried to say the coupons weren't valid.  I finally lost it.  I pointed out that the coupons had different expiration dates.  She asked why it was so tiny and I was sassy when I said, "Because I was printing out 4x6 wedding envelopes before I printed the coupons and my printer and I are having a fight right now and the paper size didn't reset."

She responded by saying I didn't need to get upset.  I let loose and said, "Look, I've crutched my ass across this store and I'm sweating like crazy and I've waited in line and then we waited for a manager and now you're trying to tell me my valid coupons aren't valid.  They are and we both know it."  She made haste to get me out of the store pretty quick after that.  I felt bad for the people in line behind me, but I saved $20 from coupons, so it was worth my time.

When I got home, I said hello to Teh German, put the stuff away, and went upstairs, took off my brace, and laid in bed finishing my audiobook and doing puzzles on my Kindle.  I was over everything.

Around 4:15, Teh German came inside to see if I was alive and I started getting ready for Grease night.  Teh German and I chatted while I got ready.  I even broke out my curling iron to flip my hair out (which lasted all of 5 minutes after I walked outside).

Rockin' it like 1997 with a curling iron.

Unfortunately, there isn't a good photo of me in my costume, but I went as Rizzo at the slumber party.  I straightened my hair and flipped it out to look like I wear wearing the wig when she was making fun of Sandy.

We had a blast, which seems to be the standard.  I feel pretty proud of myself when "Danny" fist bumped me for my solid singing skills.  I wasn't actually paying attention when he heard me, just singing and looking at the bar so it surprised me.  All those hours practicing with Teh Sister and Teh Mom in the car paid off apparently.

We headed home after the show.  Teh Dental Hygienist really wanted to go out.  We decided we'd go to King Street Grill.  The men didn't want to join us, so an Uber was called and we headed to the bar.

When I got home, Meri actually initiated play with Pax.
It was adorable and I'm glad they are playing.

Teh PT Wife's Mom met us at King Street Grill.  She ended up leaving before we were ready, so to get home we had to call another Uber.  There was some dancing, but not much.  We learned that people don't start showing up to dance until 11:30 and that's past my bedtime.  Every time Teh PT Wife said she was ready to go, Teh Dental Hygienist ordered another round.  At 1230, we finally headed home.

The guys were all still at Teh PT House, so we drunkenly fetched them and then it was bedtime.

SUNDAY

A much needed slow start on Sunday.  Teh German actually got up before me.  My head was killing me and I thought it was due to a hangover (but based on the current weather, it might have been a hangover and #barometerhead) so I stayed in bed and napped until I had to get up and start getting ready for brunch.

Originally, we had intended to go to Page's Okra Grill, but a wait time of 1.5-2 hours made that into a quick no.  Instead, we headed to Charleston Cafe, where the food was equally delicious and the wait was only 15 minutes.

Cheddar herb biscuit with eggs, fried chicken, and sausage gravy.
#noregrets

After brunch, the men and the women parted ways.  The men ventured to Trader Joe's then home.  The women went to Home Goods/Marshall's, TJ Maxx, Metto, then to the outlets to hit up a few stores.

I switched out the M for this prettier one, but I was amused to find my initals!

That tag is tiny, so let me transcribe for you..  This Coach Mickey purse is almost $600. Uhhh no.

This Coach Mickey shirt?  $164.99.
FUCK NO.

ALL the patches!
It brought out my eyes.  Looool.

I bought a pink shirt!!!

Teh Dental Hygienist and I waiting on Teh PT Wife to try on dresses.
We may have also changed her phone's wallpapers to goofy pictures of us.
#notsorry

It was around 5:30 when we finally got home.  Teh German said he spent the day catching up on his YouTubes.  I could tell he was restless so he ate dinner (I wasn't hungry) and then I suggested we watch some Modern Family.  He was down for that.  I was glad because after crutchin' around for hours and hours, I needed to rest.. and NOT wear my hip brace.

__________________________________________________

Another weekend for the books.  The biggest thing for me was the realization in Walmart that I need to slow the fuck down and stop feeling so much pressure to rush my recovery.  Yes, I want to be done with the crutches and the brace, but hip repair is different than hip replacement.  At 1 month post-surgery, it wasn't expected of me to be up and completely functional.  I've resumed all my pre-surgery responsibilities (cooking, laundry, etc), I sometimes drive against my doctor's suggestion.  I would also like to walk a 5k in September and then the 10k right before the wedding, but the reality is, if I can't, I can't.

This week holds me driving myself to PT and tomorrow is the 4th of July (which I have made zero plans for).  This weekend we are headed to NC to go to the Highland Games.  Pax and Meri get to stay home with the dog sitter.  What this really means is that I get to finally use one of my new Inside Out checks.  In fact, I might have already written the check just so I don't need to go to the ATM or PayPal money.

Happy July, Gentle Readers!!

Confessions {8/31}

-Coupons make me buy things.  I hate that it works on me.  Butttt it does.  Thank you McDonalds for that B1G1 breakfast sammich.  #notsorry #hadtouseitbeforeitexpired

-Sometimes I remember random things and it makes me laugh.  Like when I worked at Texas Roadhouse and had to hide the weed in another server's purse because it was just laying out in the open for everyone to see.  #goodteamplayer

-Young Adult Megan was full of sketchy life choices.  It's impressive I made it through my early 20s.  #poorlifechoices #safetyschmafety

-I've been contacted no less than 3 times by someone from Z5media wanting to present me with an offer for canIdecideanotherday.com.  Has anyone ever actually responded to those people?  If so, what do they want?  Am I about to make it big?  LOOOOLLLL

-Our power bill for the month of August was $179.  That's almost $100 less than what I paid last August for Shitty House.  Have I mentioned lately how much I love our Haus?  Because seriously.  It's the best.

-Our Hue set up is almost complete.  Teh German suggested (weather depending), we put the Hue bulbs outside for Halloween.  We'd totally be the party house.  #Huelightaddiction #planners

-Despite helping Shitty House Owner by forwarding the emails from the property management company, I still got ZERO reply from him.  I fucking hate everything about him and hope he suffers from some serious karma.  Let me just remind you that his email is (name)@abunchofidiots.com.  Same guy.  Same, upstanding citizen..  #DIAF

-I've already checked us into our flights for Thursday morning.  #notsorry #Disneybound

-I'm actively stalking my new Kindle.  As in, if it had GPS, I'd be watching that bitch ride around CHS.  #stalkermode

-Last night, I threw all of my/our running gear in the suitcase.  If we had to pull up chocks and quickly depart, at least we'd have our running stuff.. and a sweatshirt each.  #priorities

-I know I don't need another Disney mug, but I'm seriously already thinking of items I'm going to buy while we're there.  This list includes: Heel/shoe ornament, possible shirt/wearable item (although I'm getting the race shirts, but they aren't really my faves based on the ones we got from the Princess run), separate ornament to celebrate our first Disney trip together (this can't be the same as my running ornament), PINS.  Truthfully, there aren't a lot of items I'm really wanting.. but I know that changes when I get to the parks and I get in the "OMG I'M AT DISNEY must buy all the things" mode.  #Disneylife

-I have purchased 5 books in the last week, which means that I consider these "must read" books, otherwise money = wasted.  I'm not overly enjoying A Man Named Ove and I really am considering returning it to Audible, but I kind of want to know what happens, but mostly I don't.  The writing style is bothering me, and I know that is a Megan problem.  I saw so many good reviews for the book, but people said the same thing about The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and that was equally painful.  I think I just talked myself into returning it.  Lesson: Swedish authors are NOT my jam.  #lessonslearned

-August 2015:

The excuse I used to get my first photo of Teh German on the sly.
He knew.
I'm not slick.
At all.
#notsorry

A date with Teh German

Running besties!

How many fucks do I give?
ZERO fucks.

Beach walk with Teh German.

Silly selfies within the first month?
I probably could have guessed he was a keeper then.

Weekend Review {3/23}

Did anyone else notice that for the 2nd week in a row I didn't post on Friday?
No?  Excellent.
Yes?  My bad. Life between my confessions post and this post has taken over and I've kind of given up on writing forced posts... at least for the time being.  I did start a draft post on Thursday but work got busy and I had to abandon it until later.
Then just getting this post written has been overwhelming.  I opened blogger on Saturday and then other things happened and I had to restart my computer and then I never went back to blogger.  Sunday night I started to write this post and I just wasn't into it.  I told myself I'd do it this morning (Monday)...

So the abridged version of my weekend:

FRIDAY

-Due to having 2 meetings that kept me at work till 5 2 days in a row, I was over on hours, which meant Friday was a short day.  I got to work for my morning meetings and then left a little after 1.  WIN.

-I had ice cream for lunch since I had leftovers from Thursday when I had lunch with Teh Wisconsin Blond.

-I ran 5.5 miles, my last "long" run before the Bridge Run next weekend with Teh MD Adult Roomie.

-The afternoon/evening was boring and Mr. Scrooge and I sat around and watched the dogs play, ate dinner, watched Stand By Me (which gave me so much insight as to why boys are the way they are), and enjoyed general lethargy.  Mr. Scrooge made roasted cornish hens and veggies for dinner and it was delicious.

SATURDAY

-Mr. Scrooge fed the dogs which meant I got to lay in bed, which was delightful.  We slept in until 10ish, of course with Meri because she needs her snuggles.

-Meri killed a critter in the yard.  I have no idea what it was, but Mr. Scrooge tossed it over the back fence.

Instead of taking a photo, Mr. Scrooge brought it to the window to show me...

-Mr. Scrooge was going to some motorcycle gang thing and I had some serious shopping plans.

Next week I'll be running this!

-I went and got fitted for running shoes.  I bought my expensive shoes and some overpriced wicking socks and left.

I shaved my legs for this.  No lie.

They are so ugly, but they feel so good.

-The guy that helped me at the shoe store suggested Graze for lunch when I mentioned getting food was my next stop.  I got in Yurtle and was driving away debating on my food situation and because I rarely go to Mt. Pleasant, I talked myself into going to this Graze place.  I  was super skeptical because this guy seemed to have the possibility of being a health nut and with a name like Graze I was thinking salads.. and meh to that.

So I tried it anyways, SOLID LIFE CHOICE.  OMG SO DELICIOUS.  ALL CAPS DELICIOUS.  I had the special, so I have no idea what it was called, but I did take a photo for you to be jealous of.  #sorrynotsorry

something something sweet basil and crab filled with kale.

Mr. Scrooge and I had discussed getting lunch together since he was around the same area, but he is a flake and I profited from this.  Had we went to lunch together, we probably wouldn't have picked this place.  I'll be going back.

-I went to Target and bought supplies for Easter baskets because I had a coupon for Starburst Jellybeans and if you don't agree with that solid reasoning, we shouldn't be friends.

-I went to the commissary and spent a retarded amount of money, then realized I hadn't really bought groceries in several weeks, so I let it go.

I told Teh MD Roomies I would have TOTALLY chased Teh MD Teenage Roomie around with this huge squash.

-We had a doggy play date with the lady who helped transport Xero to Charleston.  She adopted a galgo and has a greyhound, so she was excited to have other sighthounds in the area to be able to socialize her dogs with.  Both Xero and Desoto (her galgo) are kinda spook dogs, so they didn't really play much.  Neither did Phil, but that's because he just wanted to go inside and eat dinner or get pettins.

Tempe thoroughly enjoyed all the squeaky toys.

-We had pizza for dinner because Mr. Scrooge didn't really want to go out.

SUNDAY

-I got up with the dogs since Mr. Scrooge had taken care of them the day before.  Instead of going back to bed, I stayed up and messed around on the internet and got the motivation to do Easter Bag-skets.

-Since it was raining, it was a completely lazy day.

-I made chili (in the crockpot because see above) for dinner.

-I did laundry after Mr. Scrooge asked me if I needed help doing it.  Which translated to, "Are you planning on doing the laundry?"  I think OCS taught him transparent subtly.  I reassured him that even if I didn't do all the laundry the 2 things that would ALWAYS get washed, no matter what would be his uniform and my sports bras.  I hope this helped put his mind at ease and for him to realize that even if I'm unmotivated, I will get shit done.

-I read for a bit.  I'm loving Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me.  It's chatty like I would expect Mindy to be, but not overwhelmingly random and chatty like Jenny Lawson's book.

-I took a nap, which meant that I struggled to get to sleep when it was bedtime.

-I started watching Cosmos with Mr. Scrooge during dinner but quickly lost interest.  The anime and modern slang that the historical characters used did give me the giggles.

-I gave Meri and Xero half baths since they were running and splashing in huge puddles chasing the neighbor dog up and down the fence.  No one liked that less than me...

-I got an email from the sexist relator saying that the owner of the house was in town and he wanted to come by Tuesday evening.

MONDAY

-Woke up to 2 piles of dog poop in the floor

-Xero refused to let me wipe his muddy paws before he came back inside and I yelled at him, "GET ADOPTED!" and now I feel guilty about it.

-Traffic was backed up more than usual (probably because of a train if I had to guess)

-I got stopped by my nemesis train that takes 10-15 minute to do any kind of movement, which makes me rage since it happens during rush hour times.

-Coffee prep was late, but I had delicious oatmeal (without the berries that I brought in to add) for breakfast.

#firstworldproblems kind of day, aye.  Today also holds a run in my new shoes (which I'm sure will get muddy, grr) and ham for dinner (which is really mixin' it up for me).

Happy Monday, Gentle Readers!

Five on Friday #46

UNO

I threatened to stay at home another day if Mr. Scrooge didn't follow my medication directions/schedule.  It worked like a charm.  The drugs really kick his ass though, so I can understand why he doesn't want to take them, but at the same time... don't be ridiculous and just enjoy being legally stoned.  Duh.

I have been laying out his antibiotic and pain pill when I leave in the morning.  I'm nice like that.  Then he informed me when I asked if he had taken them that he had only taken 1 of his antibiotic pills "to make them last longer."

I had to laugh, and then I asked if he had read the instructions and when he said no, I said, "I know, cause I did read them.. 2 at the same time."  No really, he's cute... and now with a new and improved schnoz.

He was quite relieved when I told him he could take an allergy pill.  Allergy pills make our world go round.  I'm not sure how either of us would function without them.

DOS

Some days I walk in to Company and it feels like it's been way longer than a little over a month that I've been working here and it feels weird.  Some days I walk in in the office and everything feels completely normal and exactly right.  Strange how that works.

Sometimes it also hits me that I get to edit documents for a living and I used to think that was an "easy" job and I got the verbal smack down from someone at VX-1 for that, which was deserved.  It seems quite easy in theory.. But then I'm working with a document and those stupid styles come into play and who has ever used those before?  No one, duh.  Yeah, me now.  This must be what adulthood is..  Using all those special features on things you never cared about before.

TRES

There is a Glass Slipper Challenge group on FB and I get sooooo much motivation from them.  I don't often participate in the conversation because most of them are about the past races, but watching the chatter gets me so unbearably excited.

Anyone have any suggestions for costumes?  I'm think Stitch for one race (yeah, I don't care that he's not a princess, he's awesome and makes me think of Meri and that kind of energy is what I'm going to need to accomplish 19.3 or 22.4 miles (5k dependent)) and I'm up for suggestions on the other.

We are already planning and considering doing the 10k solo to possibly set our PRs and then together for the half so we can get character photos together.  We also discussed doing the 5k since we'll already be there and why not?!  It's only 3.1 miles.. that's a "short" run, lol.

QUATRO

This weekend has ZERO plans right now.  Teh SC House Finder asked if we wanted to go to a wine festival this week, but both Mr. Scrooge and I kinda shuttered at the idea of paying $70 a person to get in.  Instead, I suggested we go to Kohl's since I have ALL THE COUPONS!! (a 30% and a $10 and 2 $5 off) and he never got his replacement jeans and I want/need more sports bras.

Only having 3 with underwire means that I have to laundry mid-week if I want to workout every day.  Teh Motivator and Teh Work Mentor strongly advised me to get sports bras with underwire last summer when I was half marathon training and they changed my life!  What sucks is that I'd already invested a hefty amount in the shitty, non-underwire sports bras by that point.  Those have to go...

This situation was only further exacerbated when Mr. Scrooge delivered a sports bra to me at work earlier this week because I had forgotten to pack one in my gym back and he brought me an non-underwire one, which meant that I went to the gym that day instead of starting my running training.  He had good intentions though, so I didn't even torment him about the fact that the "good" ones were still on the drying rack, which he walked right by when he left the house.  Seriously, cute.

 Also, #firstworldproblem much, Megan?  Looolz.

This one is for all my Gentle Readers who are into boobs.  You're welcome.  Don't ever say I never gave you nothin.

CINCO

I thought Friday would never come.  Jebus.  I think part of it was that I didn't feel like I got to rest last weekend since Teh Dad and Teh Stepmom were here.  Then Mr. Scrooge's surgery, then working from home.  My schedule was all jacked up.  I'm looking forward to sleeping in and getting my Meri snuggles tomorrow morning then doing some reading and blogging this weekend (because Tuesday is Jana's book review and I'm on top of that shit this month).  Laziness, here I come!!!!

Happy Friday, Gentle Readers.

Confessions {1/28}

-I've been having trouble sleeping on nights before I have to go to work because I'm using a Mac and I'm not 100% on all it's functions and in my dream (usually the same one) I can't figure out how to minimize everything at once, which is the final test on how to use the Mac.  I mean if Windows can minimize everything at once, a Mac can definitely do that.  I just don't know how.

-Mr. Scrooge and I washed the cars on Sunday.  I learned made the final decision that we don't make a good team.  This assessment was made after I'd been trying to do my thing and I got "LT-ed" for every move I made.  After 3 times of his micromanagement, I finally slammed the car door, where I had been trying to clean the window of the window, so hard I was afraid I might actually break the window, and screamed at him (while we're standing outside with the neighborhood kids riding/walking by and for all the other neighbors to hear), "FUCK YOU!  Do it your damn self since I can't do it right.  Let me know when you want me to move Yurtle," and stomped inside.  I slammed the garage door for good measure.  No.  I will not be micromanaged when I'm washing MY car.

-The situation above directly correlates to something that a cashier observed as we were checking out at the store last week.  I was wearing my Thing 2 hoodie and he was wearing a Bullwinkle shirt and she observed that we were both missing our cohorts.  Yeah, we're not a good team.  Probably should work on that if we plan to keep this relationship going.......

-I was completely dressed and almost out the door on Monday morning when I realized that I was wearing a knee length dress and had prickly legs.  Teh MD Adult Roomie said that it was ok if I was wearing stockings.  I wasn't.  I went to work anyways.  I sit at a desk all day and I wasn't even worried that the guys I work with were going to notice at our conference calls.  #hairydontcare

-I've claimed the stall furthest from the door as "my" stall when I go to the restroom.  Apparently, it is also someone else's stall and I'm pretty sure I heard her huff when the door was locked and she couldn't get in her stall to do her business.  #newgirldontcare

-I wish gym results were immediate.  Then again, I consider the scale not going up progress at this point.

-1 week till my birfday!!!! Woooo!!!

-I have a friend, Jqubed, who restarted his blog.  One of his topics recently was typography, which is highly interesting to me.  Not just because my job is to be a tech writer, but because I write a lot in general and the science of fonts and formatting, etc is right up my alley.  Anyways, if I could get past the muscle memory of 2 spaces, I'd probably start using 1 space only between periods.  But really, 2 spaces is muscle memory for me and one space indicates the next word, where 2 spaces indicates a period and the start of a new sentence.  I'm obnoxiously set in my ways.

-Mr. Scrooge ordered a new "ready thingy" for my birthday.  He didn't really ask me for specifications, which means that while I only wanted a backlit Kindle (reader only), he ordered the biggest and best Kindle available on the market which means that I have a Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 with all the bells and whistles arriving today.  Despite the fact that it was WAAYYYY too much, I'm afraid I'm going to love it.  I've considered buying a tablet for years, but with my blogging, I prefer a full keyboard.  I'll still have my laptop though.  I'll let you know how (awesome) it is when it arrives in a few days.

-Since I ended up finding out what my bday present was before it showed up (due to an extra email that I didn't anticipate since he bought the protection plan, which said Protection Plan for Your New Kindle), Mr. Scrooge ended up telling me EXACTLY what he had purchased which means that I went case shopping.  Yay shiny toys!

-I finally got to start doing some documentation work on Tuesday and despite some technology difficulties, it's still amazing.

-I might just bring my personal computer into work to do my documentation stuff on since I have no idea when my (Windows OS) work computer is arriving.

-Since my NC insurance company could write policies for SC I had to switch insurance.  I went with Esurance because they called me first after I did an online quote.  Because I wanted the cheapest possible rate, I agreed to put one of those tracker things in my car.  It arrived on Monday but I still haven't put it in yet.  Partially because I have no idea where the port is to put it in, but also because Big Brother much?  I've considered calling and asking how much my premium would go up if I decided against it, but that's really more work than just finding the port and seeing how good someone else says I drive.

-Yesterday, Teh Worldwide Jesus Lover told me some Mac shortcuts and now I know that F11 shows my desktop and that 3 finger swipes up makes all my windows appear.  Now it's just too bad that this keyboard doesn't have "End" and "Home" buttons or the ability to differentiate between delete and backspace (one deletes to the left, one deletes to the right).

-Despite all the vitamin C washes and trying to shampoo my hair as minimally as possible (which is generally once a day if I go to the gym), the green is coming back.  But now, I have the job and I can look like a martian and I don't care anymore.  I'm just going to accept algae tinted hair.  I'm also going to make an appointment with the lady that fixed it the day before my Company interview and have her cut it.  Not that taking off the length will take the top green out, which is where it is most noticeable, but it might take off some of the dead/split stuffs.

Work selfies to show off my new accessories (and my green hair).

-I really like the YoCrunch yogurts with Oreo in them, so when I saw they offered Frosted Flakes and Fruit Loops versions I figured I'd give it a try.  NO.  DO NOT DO IT GENTLE READERS.  Cereal should only be consumed dry or with MILK, NOT yogurt.  It's just.. an abomination to cereal.

-It's 30°F in Charleston right now and since it's not snowing (or even pretending it might), it's too cold for these kinds of weather shenanigans.

-I bought a space heater from Target Monday morning because having cold legs was unbearable.  I understand that wearing dresses means making sacrafices, but when my boss said that he regularaly has cold legs and feet, I knew I wasn't going to make it.  When I went to Target, I knew that my old team was there and I could have stopped by to say hey, but I didn't want them to feel like I was rubbing my new job in their face (what with me being at Target during the middle of the work day) and I really wanted to get back to work so I could leave at a decent hour.  Additionally, because the space heater was on clearance from $29.99 to $20.98, since it was over $20, I got to use the $5 off Target coupon making it half off of the original price.  WIN.

-I bought a rainbow umbrella.  I've been dreaming about this umbrella since I learned that when in uniform you can only carry a black umbrella and I refused to buy a black umbrella so I always just got rained on.  Now my clothes have the potential to be see-through so that is no longer an option.  Umbrella = acquired.

-I got my free birfday drinks from Starbucks, plural because I have 2 rewards cards. #likeaboss  I just can't figure out when to use them.  #firstworldproblems.

-Receving a super huge task with minimal direction and minimal understand (from both myself and the tasker) doesn't make for a good rest of the week.

-I get sad when the linkup isn't already posted by the time I publish my blog (late) on Wednesday morning.  I'm an early bird.  I'm going to be obnoxious when I'm old, I can already tell.
