Weekend Review {6/25}

FRIDAY

After work, I laid on the couch and finished an ebook until Teh German came home.  Then, Teh German went out with Teh PT Fam to watch the newest Jurassic Park movie (I don't care for the series, so I opted to save us $15), I stayed home.  Since Teh German and Teh PT Kid both were dinosaurs for Halloween, we were able to put those bad boys to use and they dressed up in their costumes to walk into the theater.  People were stopping in their cars to take photos.  They also ran into some other neighbors!  We reasoned that people dress up to see Star Wars and Harry Potter, why not dress up for Jurassic Park?!  Thankfully, there was only good reactions from my 2nd hand account.

Walking to the theater.

Waiting for concessions.

Teh German chasing a kid who kept stepping on his tail.

While they were at the movie, I decided to make a Dairy Queen run for a Smores Blizzard and sweet tea and took Yurtle through the car wash since I had time.

When I got home, it was shady enough to water the flowers, so I did that.  I also was listening to an audiobook.

I found this little baby frog!
Don't mind the weeds.  I can't seem to get them under control this year.
UGGGHHHH.

When Teh German came home, I was working on puzzle and shortly after I finished my audiobook.  We opted to watch some TV until bedtime.

SATURDAY

Saturday was a slow start.  After breakfast and coffee on the back porch, I got hot and decided it was time for me to be inside.  I continued my work on my monster puzzle.  After putting the piles of characters I had together and moving them into the frame, it really started to look like I might actually finish this monster.  I finally started Us Against Them and I think that audiobook might be the way to go for Swedish authors, when necessary.  It's not 100%, but it's 85% better than reading it, IMO.

Teh SC German and Teh SC Teacher invited us to meet them at Carolina Ale House to watch Germany play and we said yes.  We met them shortly after 1:30 (because for every ~15 times I deal with Teh German Time, Megan Time happens).  It was a real nail biter and sitting at a table of Germans definitely made things interesting.  The service at the Ale House reinforced their reputation of being shitty, I actually went to the kitchen to fetch my own food after it had been returned to the kitchen when it was incorrect.  I'd never watched a German team play in public with Teh German, but he gets a little..... zealous.. Which is one thing at home, but something else in public.  Apparently beating on the table to cheer is a thing?  I didn't know that.  Now I do.  Ohhhhhhh, how I do.

After the game, we came home and it was laziness time.  I worked more on the puzzle until Teh German suggested watching TV.  We've started The Man in the High Castle and we like it more than we initial thought, despite it's darkness.

Before we could watch TV though, I needed to accomplish some tasks, laundry and making my white chocolate pretzels (finally) since we had agreed to go out on the boat with Teh SC German and Teacher on Sunday.

The labor of white chocolate pretzels was totally worth it and I'm sure it was more cost effective than buying the premade ones, but only barely.  After my tasks were complete, we watched TV until after 10:30 and finally went to bed.

SUNDAY

Sunday funday!

We started the morning with a Skype session with Papa G.  After chatting for about 45 minutes, we started getting ready to go out on the boat.

Boat time consisted to lots of sunscreen, peeing in the river, wakeboarding for Teh German, tubing for me, and hanging out.  It was definitely an excellent day.

Teh German wakeboarding

Me wiping out.

When we got home, we unloaded Baloo, we fed the dogs, I started laundry, and then it was shower time and laziness.  I made spaghetti for dinner since I had thawed some frozen sauce last week and it needed to be eaten.  After, I worked on puzzle while Teh German did some research and watched YouTubes.

I headed to bed around 9 and passed out.  IDK what time Teh German came to bed, but he was there when I woke up in the middle of the night from a crazy loud thunderstorm.

Overall, a most fantastic weekend.

This week holds:
-A doctor visit regarding these incredibly unawesome hot flashes I've been having for over a month now.
-A laser hair removal appt
-Hairs did
-Germany is playing again on Wednesday at 1000 EST, and I had originally told Teh German he could come to my work to watch it, buttttt after his performance on Saturday, he will probably be finding somewhere else to watch the game because our office is too quiet for that kind of shenanigans.
-Starting to plan Germany in December.  Papa G asked about it and I was honest and said that it's my summer break and we juuuuuuusssttt got back from a trip that probably stressed me out infinitely more than it actually relaxed me... so our December trip isn't even on my radar yet, but I'll think about thinking about it.
-Completing the 2000-piece puzzle on my table.
-Baby shower things for Preggers McGee.
-Photo editing for Honeymoon 3 post???  I don't want to get too lofty with my goals.
-Finding an in-network chiropractor.

Happy last week of June, Gentle Readers.
If you're not happy about this, you can come sit on my bench, because misery loves company.  School starts back up on July 5th for me and I'm not actually very excited about it.  In fact, I'm quite anxious about the whole ordeal and going to 2 different schools in the same day isn't stressful at all (it is actually, quite stressful).  It's so stressful to me that I've completely blocked out tracking of time until I have to go back to school.  I don't want to count down to something so depressing.  But I'm sure once classes are started, I will be counting down to when they end.  #NotSorry  These are both just need a 'C' in classes, sooooo hopefully that will take off some of the self-pressure (it won't, but I like to say these things in the vein hopes of one day believing myself).

3 Things.. in general.

Apparently, doing things in 3s in my jam. For instance, the Things That Make My Life Easier posts? There were 3 of 'em. And again with the 3 theme. I stole this from the interwebs, another blogger, somewhere, somewhen.

Three foods I hate and refuse to eat

  1. Spicy foods (like if you add too much table pepper, I won't eat it)
  2. Oysters
  3. Chitlins (just no)

Three foods I love and eat more of than I should

  1. BBQ.  ALL THE BBQ.
  2. Candy.  I have seasonal candy stashed at work and at home.
  3. Sweet tea.  Ok, this isn't a food, but it's a well known fact among people that go out with me, I will drink several cups of sweet tea during a meal and then ask for a to-go tea to drink the next day...

Three things chores I avoid until absolutely necessary

  1. Cleaning the floor
  2. Cleaning toilets
  3. Scooping poop.

Three chores I always do*

  1. Laundry
  2. Shopping for groceries/house things
  3. Meal plan
*I primarily do these duties, but Teh German does assist fairly regularly.

Three wardrobe staples

  1. Hoodies.
  2. Fleece lined leggings (especially in demand during the winter for running)
  3. Over sized long sleeve shirts for sleeping in.

Three things I don’t spend money on

  1. Most name brand foods
  2. Bottled water
  3. Shipping

Three things I do spend money on

  1. Things that are in use every day.  Examples: sheets, mattress, quality shampoo/conditioner, shoes...
  2. Monthly car wash membership
  3. Treats for the dogs

Three TV shows I frequently watch in reruns

None.  I don't watch TV.  We do watch Netflix, but we only watch one series at a time.

Three genres I generally don’t read

  1. Horror
  2. Nonfiction
  3. Textbooks  (I feel like going to class should be sufficient)

Three things I’m looking forward to this year

  1. HONEYMOON IN AUSTRALIA!!!!!
  2. Germany in December
  3. How awesome Teh Ville will continue to be.

Unpopular Opinions Part 1

Megan's unpopular opinions...

Beer is disgusting.  All beer.  Cheap beer.  Craft beer.  ALL BEER.

Don't try to change my mind.  Yes, I will take a sip of Teh German's beers every now and then, but there isn't a beer that I've tried that is enjoyable.  Not a single beer has graced my mouth that made me thing, "Yeah, I want more of this."  I have drank beers before that have been experiments in toleration.  It's not my jam.  It means more for you.

All wine tastes like Jesus Communion wine.

I don't like wine either.  I blame this on being raised Catholic.  Just like beer, I've tried many a sip of wine all to the same result: I could probably tolerate some of those wines, but nary a one has been something that I wanted to ingest more of.  Again, more for you!

Doing things on a mobile device/tablet is better than doing it on a computer.

NO.  That stupid tiny keyboard is only meant for making me feel like I have oversized foam thumbs.  Autocorrect is of the devil.  Mobile websites are complete garbage since they usually don't have full functionality (with the exception of our mobile wedding website, which I purposely made with exactly the same functionality as the desktop version, you are welcome very much).  That said, "I don't use a computer," is NOT a valid excuse if you are constantly updating your Facebook from your phone.  If you can use the Facebook app, you can manage to open up the browser app and go to websites.  It's a thing.  I promise.

Winter is best.  Fall is bestest.

I live in the asshole of the South, if you don't believe that, check out a map of South Carolina and determine the proximity of Charleston in relation to the east coast's butt (PS. Lake Michigan looks like a dick).  When someone was discussing how they thought it was super miserable this summer after they moved here in June and myself and another individual had to inform them that this summer was actually very mild compared to "normal" Charleston summers, they almost packed up their shit right there and moved to another state.  Most people in Charleston are all about that "Salt Life" (barf), but I'm all about that Hood Life.  By hood life I mean HOODIE life.  My world is pretty much perfect when I'm wearing a hoodie.  There is never a day that I'd rather be hot and dealing with swamp ass over being cold.  I love some warm socks and blankets and snuggles.  Die, Summer, die.

TV is stupid.

People seem to have a hard time accepting the fact that I/we don't watch TV.  I don't know why.  I cannot stand the commercials, I can't stand the stereotypes and pushed agendas.  Essentially, I hate everything.  There are times when I think to myself that I want to watch TV and then I spend 5 minutes watching it in public somewhere (doctor's office or at someone else's house or a restaurant or the vet center on campus) and I remember why I never watch TV.  Yes, I could choose to watch awesome shows after the fact without commercials, but that leads me to my next point...

Popular things are stupid.

Ok, on this point, I've been proven wrong a few times, but generally, I am strong in my opinions about this.  I didn't read Harry Potter or Twilight until 2012, pretty much at the start of their decline in popularity.  I didn't want to be part of the fangirl crowd and that continues to this day.  What does this mean for me when I do finally get around to partaking in whatever craze is going around?  It's probably already over.  All the books are published, all the episodes are released.  I don't have to wait on the next episode.  #betterlatethannever  PS.  I've fallen out of touch with Grey's Anatomy, Game of Thrones, and Silicone Valley.  I'm not heartbroken about it.

Coffee is gross.

Unless it contains a diabetic coma inducing amount of sugar and/or flavoring.  Peppermint mochas year round for me.  I have partaken of pumpkin spice, but I'd rather have a peppermint mocha any day.

Energy drinks are the worst.

The smell of Red Bull makes me gag.  Seriously.  I don't understand how people can drink that garbage.  Teh German likes to get them when we drive long distances and I spend a majority of that time with my nose in my shirt.. sniffing my boobs?  Whatevs, anything is better than the smell of chemicals that are probably not digestible.

Five on Friday #116

EINS

I'm trying to decide what we're going to watch after we finish Parks and Recreation.. yes, already.  I'm torn between starting Teh German on Mad Men (because I need to watch the last season) or Game of Thrones.  The problem is, both of these options have episodes that are at least 40+ minutes long.  23 minute episodes are perfect.  Also, I've been GOT sober for 2 years now and I need to be strong.  Yes, I've read the books, but it's finnnneeeee.. #meganproblems

Also, the trailer came out for Outlander and it's more and more tempting to watch Outlander just to get in a few doses of Scottish accent.  Maybe I just need to jump on book 5 for some Davina Porter narration.

That would be approximately 5 year worth of Outlander books I have already purchased to listen to...

Maybe I should just focus on reading and finishing up my challenge so I can get spend a mabillionty hours listening to Davina Porter's voice?

ZWEI

Hi, my name is Megan and I have a spending problem... and I neeeeeeeed to stop.

I've noticed recently that when I look at my cart when I'm checking out (online of course, because going to the store makes me stabby) and ask myself, "Do I need this or want this?"  A lot of the time I'm coming back with "want" and then telling myself, "well, ok, but we're not going to do this regularly."  Annnnnnddd it's become regular.  I've bought a lot of shit this summer that has been wants.  Granted, I've found most of the items on sale, but spending money on wants isn't saving money for things like... wedding.

I think my real problem is that my dollars are not currently allocated to anything in particular so I give them a home by buying shit I don't necessary need.

Things I've bought over the last few months that are complete wants, not needs:
-Disney movies
-Woot shirts
-Kindle
-Fancy shampoo/conditioner.  This was kind of a need, but I probably could have found something else for cheaper.
-Wallflowers from Bath and Body Works
-Stickers for my computer
-Pillows for the entry bench
-New purse
-Sooo many food/beverage purchases (beer, coffee, milkshakes, lunch out, etc)
-Puzzles (which have brought me much joy)
-Stuff to make my own cleaning solution (complete waste)
-Unnecessary dog toys
-Dog treats (cheese sticks and bully sticks), these were kind of a need when I was disabled and unable to take the dogs on walks and they needed something to burn the energy off.
-A month of car washes/detailing (which I will greatly miss after I'm no longer doing PT)
-Extra stamps because they were Disney Villains
-Date night splurge (which technically falls under want, but was an exception I was willing to make since we rarely do special date nights)
-Race entry fees

This is all in addition to my regular monthly spending for wants:
-Spotify
-Audible
-Eating out

There are things I could definitely be saving for, but I haven't made them a priority like I need to:
-All things wedding...
-Honeymoon things
-Redecorating the guest bathroom.  I'm finally willing to give up the Monsters.  #adultingsucks
-Back splash in the kitchen
-Some type of furniture piece for the dining room
-Some type of plant for the living room
-A chair for the master bedroom
-Decorating Guest Room and First Child Room
-Paint
-My I 💓Me wall in the office.  I want to get a GTMO flag framed and make a shadow box for my ribbons/uniform patches.

DREI

From my phone:

So Teh Dad left Teh German and I a note on the counter when we were in NC.  I'll just transcribe this for you.

The original note said:
"I will call you after church about lunch"

When I got up, I responded to his "text"...
"Good, I'm starving."

Then added the rest of it.  Full transcription:
Texting, 1990s style:
Teh Dad: I will call you after church about lunch
Teh Megan: Good, I'm starving.

______
Later in 2017:
M: Why didn't you answer my text?
D: What text?
M: The text on the counter.

Apparently, my very literal sense of humor doesn't come from Teh Dad because he didn't get my "text" joke.  Or I'm just too much of a reading geek for everyone else.  Either of those options are highly probable.

Weekend Review {3/6}

FRIDAY

Since I knew I had a 1:30-2:30 meeting, I decided to sleep in.  This was a poor life choice because I didn't really get much extra sleep since I was awake the entire time Teh German was getting ready.  Then I didn't want to get up when my alarm went off.  Ugh.

Meri snuggles and kisses.

I was halfway to work when I was stopped by some horrendous traffic and checked Googly Maps to find out that the rest of my way to work was going to be horrific, so I turned around and headed back home to telework.

Roux's Humom talked me into a trip to the dog park with the beasts after my meeting and before I got into anything, I said yes.  It was a good idea since I knew we wouldn't be home in the evening and the dogs would be in their crates.  Had I went to work, this would have bothered me more, but since I didn't go to work, I wasn't feeling as bad, but tired dogs are good dogs, so it was for the best.

Phil and Roux.

I got some tasking while we were at the dog park, which was an end to our vitamin D session.  Nonetheless, Phil had enough time to mark almost everything at the dog park and Meri petrified me a few times when she noticed squirrels in the woods at the fence line.  Since there is only a 4 foot fence, I was super concerned she would easily spring over the fence and chase the squirrel.  We eventualy headed home and took care of some work.  After it was done, I had lunch and chatted with Teh Sister for a bit.  Eventually, I finally finished drafting my Friday post and published it.

Teh German came home and we fed the beasts and headed to dinner at Community Pizza House (which I hadn't been to, but Teh German had) with Roux's Humom and Mr. Golfer.  Community Pizza House might be my new favorite not-D'Al's pizza place for their pizza with an egg on it (and potatoes and bacon and mushrooms).  Sorry no pics because I was absolutely starving from making the poor life choice to have a tomato sandwich for lunch instead of my alfredo leftovers.  After carb loading, we headed to the performing arts center to see Ron White.

Mr. Golfer was in a rush so they left before we did so Teh German could finish his beer.  Being the best fiance' I am, I assisted Teh German in acquiring yet another pint glass that we didn't need because he liked it.  We headed to our parking spot and made it to the security line.  A few minutes later Mr. Golfer and Roux's Humom joined us in line.  I may or may not have gotten some joy from us getting in line first after Mr. Golfer had been so impatient to leave.  We made it through the security line and found our seats.

I had questioned my decision to get tickets in the center of the section for Goo Goo Dolls, but after seeing Ron White from the end of a row, I know without a doubt that I made a solid life choice.

Vic Somebody was a solid opening act, although some of his jokes didn't work well on the red-state crowd he was in front of.  On the other hand, I was probably the only one cackling at some of those Trump jokes.  Ok, maybe me and Teh German and like 2 other people.  I looked around for anyone in the audience that wasn't white and didn't find anyone.  So, ya know.. that.

Ron White was excellent.  He did kick a dude out of the show because he wouldn't STFU.  We couldn't hear the guy since he was close to the front, but apparently he showed Ron his VIP badge and Ron was like, "You think you're special because you're a VIP?  I don't give a fuck.  One more word out of you and you're gone."  The guy apparently tried to hold his tongue because he lasted for another 10 minutes before security came and took him away.  I completely missed whatever the sign was to remove someone because security appeared out of no where to pull this guy from the audience.  By sign I mean like, bands will signal to the audio control people that they need their ear pieces to be louder or point to an instrument to hear it specifically louder with a hand gesture that isn't overly obvious (unless you're me and you're lookin' for shit like that).

Too bad for the guy though because the show ended 10 minutes later.  There were 3 plugs for the tequila he was drinking, ugh.  I sometimes wonder if he gets tired of drinking and smoking on stage.  He mostly didn't smoke the cigar and he nursed his tequila.  I personally would have just put some other liquid in the bottle.

After the show ended, we headed home since Mr. Golfer and Roux's Humom had gotten VIP passes.  Once we got home, it was bed prep and bedtime.

While we were at the show, I won my first ever Ebay auction.  I paid $31+$4 shipping for Seasons 1-7 of Modern Family.  I was afraid that the other bidder was playing the same game as me and waiting until the last 5 minutes of the auction to raise the bid, but I was the highest bidder for the last 4 hours.  I did have an alarm set for 8:55 to check and make sure that I was the highest bidder.  I monitored the auction for the last 5 minutes, kinda half listening to Ron White.  Teh German was pumped that I had won and I was mentally patting myself on the back for only paying $5 per season of Modern Family.  #thrifty

SATURDAY

I asked Teh German before we got out of bed what goals he wanted to accomplish and he listed off several things.  We were out of the bed by 9.  The laundry fairy finally returned to her duties.  9 loads of laundry.  Ugh.  I finally made it downstairs and Teh German had warmed up leftovers for breakfast.  After breakfast, I presented him with a copy of our invitation wording for him to translate into German so I could make some progress on that front.

He headed to the garage to do his thang and I headed to the office.  I started working on the invitations (there's a 40% code from the website that offers our overpriced invites that ends on 3/7, so the fire under my ass is lit) then got sidetracked working on the wedding website.

So what had happened was... on the invites, I'm putting something about entertainment options on the invites, so I had to create a whole new page with entertainment options.  #firstworldproblems  Then, I got derailed for an hour and a half trying to make a dashed outline around an image in Photoshop, only to eventually learn that CS5, and essentially any version of Photoshop that isn't the pay per month subscription that Adobe currently offers, doesn't have a dashed outline option.  There were some alternative ways to do it, but none of them were working for me and I finally just gave up.  No one really cares but me that the images aren't the same as all the others.

While I'm working on all this, I'm also listening to my last challenge book and doing laundry.  The laundry fairy has a name.  It's Megan.  Cutest laundry fairy you ever did see.  Especially braless, since all my bras were in the laundry.  It was a solid reason for not leaving the house and an excuse to wear a hoodie all day.  #notsorry  I also did a few smaller tasks like cleaning the stove top with the actual cleaner (instead of a clorox wipe), change our sheets, learning how to fully use my carpet cleaner (like the hose attachment) to clean the carpet where Phil peed (I couldn't let him out because Teh German had the gate open and the idea of taking him out on a leash didn't even cross my mind), and organizing Teh German's shit show side of the closet where he just tosses shit on the shelf because it fell on me and I was kinda ragey.

All the while, Teh German is in the garage.  He accomplished: fixing Bagheera!!!!  He even "made" me go on a ride around the neighborhood (yep, I did this braless and in a hoodie and it was my first time riding without a helmet).  He also switched out the big grill for the smaller grill outside.  Fixed the situation with Suzi's brakes (which he informed me had been an issue for almost a year and I wanted to box his ears).  Figured out the hitch situation on Baloo.  Went to Walmart (which included picking up some items for me which is always complicated).  Completely rewired the lights on the trailer.. all the while not getting frustrated or making any German noises that run me off!  I am still super proud of all that he accomplished.

When he came inside, we had bbq pork for dinner and then we were mostly lazy.  I worked a little more on the invitation stuffs and printed out the wording for them so we can both give them a review before I place the order.  We showered before bed and then crashed around 11:30.

SUNDAY

We got a slow start on Sunday morning.  I got up and fed the dogs and stayed up to pitter around the internets.  I had agreed to go on a ride with the Biker Gang since they would ride out to Holy City and we'd have brunch.  Teh German suggested we have a light breakfast so we munched on leftovers the neighbor had brought over on Saturday night.  My favorite surprise was the cake that he brought wasn't vanilla, it was lemon, which is my favooooorrrriiiittteeeeeee.  So many foodgasm noises.  Teh German didn't even blink an eye at me.  He's a keeper.

We were set to meet the Biker Gang between 11-1130, which we learned really meant 1130.  We waited around, soaking ourselves in Mother Nature's tree jizz.

There was an issue with someone's bike not starting and after his battery was jump started, we were on our way.  After waiting for an hour, I was ready to ride.

Since Teh German had (smartly) suggested we eat a light breakfast, we weren't super hungry when we got to Holy City.  Teh German agreed to share a poutine with me.  #Yaaaaasss  I'm so glad America is learning about poutine because that shit is delicious.

After an hour and a half, I was ready to go.  We said bye to the gang and headed to our bikes, where we discovered that Teh German's bike wouldn't start.  FML. After some attempts to start the bike by getting it going while rolling, we finally acquired the tools to get his seat off (yay for the tool kit in Bagheera and a biker not with the gang who had the tools we needed) and used the jumper cables the other guy had brought in case his bike needed to be jumped again.

We managed to get Teh German's bike started, but while he was returning the borrowed tools, Suzi died and refused to restart.  Then we had some drama about Teh German not riding bitch on my bike and ME not riding bitch on my own bike.  I had asked the other GF that had shown up in her car if she would give Teh German a ride to our house but she refused to acknowledge I had even asked her the question.

It was complicated because I wanted to ride Bagheera, but knew that meant going home and getting the truck and hooking up the hitch and trailer on my own and I knew that would take me double the time that it would take Teh German.  Also, I really don't want passengers on my bike.  I just don't want the responsibility of someone else's life.  Eventually, I relented, disappointed, and told Teh German just to take Bagheera and come back with the truck.  The Biker Gang stayed with me, despite my being shitty company.  I sat on my own and sent disgruntled text messages and read some of my book (hooray for the Kindle app!).  I did nod off a few times, emotions are draining.

Eventually, Teh German came back and we got Suzi loaded and strapped down.  How fortunate that Teh German had fixed the hitch and trailer the day before.  Then we headed home with Suzi in tow.  Womp, womp.

Once we got home, Laundry Fairy duties resumed (which was my original motivation for leaving Holy City).  I also checked to see if the dryer vent was clogged since it was taking 2-3 cycles to dry the loads, which resulted in me cutting my hand and getting frustrated because I couldn't get the vent back on the pipe and Teh German had to fix it for me.

I helped Teh German roll Suzi off the trailer and then headed to the backyard to scoop poops.  I'm really trying to get better about doing this at least once a week.  It had been chilly all weekend, which makes scooping poop easy.  Phil made sure to drop a hot one for me after I was finished.  He's a real gem.

I talked Teh German into starting Parks and Recreation.  We're about 4 episodes in and don't really love it.  I can see the similarities between Parks and Rec and The Office and I know it took me a full season of The Office to actually get into the show, so I'm trying to persevere.  At some point in the last 10-15 years, my copies of Blue Collar Comedy Tour and Ron White's standups disappeared from my possession. I ordered new copies, but in the meantime, I wanted something to watch, so Parks and Rec it was.

We took a break to eat leftovers for dinner and then went back to the couch after we had cleaned up.  I did break the lemon cake out again and shared with Teh German who commented how good the cake was.  He was expecting something different and he liked the sweet, yet not overly sweetness of the cake.  I, of course, was making foodgasm noises the entire time.  #notsorry

We spent the rest of the night watching Parks and Rec and messing around on our electronic devices.

___________________________________

Overall a great weekend, despite the obvious disappointment with Suzi.  Teh German was super pissed, as expected, and was talking about buying a new bike.  When he showed up with the truck, we both apologized to each other for being frustrated with each other and we explained that we were both just disappointed at the circumstances (him - his bike being broken and having put a lot of money into it and he had spent all day on Saturday getting everything ready for an NC ride; me - I had wanted to ride and I had barely gotten to do so).

I did get our invitations mostly complete.  I didn't harass Teh German about them on Sunday night because I knew he probably wasn't in the mood to deal with grammar.  My goal for this evening is to rework any wording and then submit the order tonight.  I have a meeting with the DJ today at lunch time after I sent a meltdown email last week explaining that I was having some doubts about our situation (mostly that she had failed to set up a meeting with me and dammit I will NOT have vendor problems when it comes to wedding things).  I'm going to show her the website I built for her, she's going to introduce me to her information packet.  My type-a planner problem will be soothed and hopefully my brain will STFU.

This week includes: Ordering invitations (we still have to wait on the samples and approve them before they are actually printed, so don't get your hopes up about a quick turn around), Meri's Gotcha Day is Tuesday which means extra dog treats and a new mouse (like she gets every celebration day, she's a girl after my own heart with her simple pleasures), and our engagement photos are on Wednesday (please sent positive thoughts that Teh German will not have a melt down because of "unfamiliarity" like he tends to do and that I won't melt and we will look delightful in our photos).  Thursday and Friday are currently open, but I know how that usually works out.  Saturday is the St. Patrick's Festival thing in Park Circle, which Teh German got absolutely wasted at last year.  I don't drink beer, so maybe I should just bring a flask and find a DD for the both of us?  #Responsibilityblows  Sunday is Sommerzeit (summer time) as I was informed it is called in Germany.  It was a definite language barrier and Teh German explained that it's the same as "Daylight Savings Time".  I now prefer Sommerzeit, even if I will still refer to it as spring ahead time.

Fuck, they are so cute it melts my Elsa heart.

Confessions {5/18}

-I believe that account activation fees are a crock of shit.  Mostly when they are more than $10.  Here's why.  To send someone out to my house to check my meters doesn't take that much gas considering I'm only 10 minutes away from all the city's main offices.  Additionally, creating an account in a system database doesn't take that much effort.  It possibly takes an entire minute to type in my information and click a few more buttons and voila, technological magic happens...  If you are coming to my house and actually physically dealing with hardware and setting stuff up, then I don't get as grumbly about your activation fees.  #cheapo

-Kathy mentioned cupping in one of her posts (like a million years ago since that's about how far behind I am on reading blogs) and now I want a cupping massage and facial in a way I can't explain.  My dilemma is do I wait until after Germany (so after I'm messed up from the flights) or just go now and celebrate surviving the buying a house process?  #treatyoself

-Another month of missing the Show Us Your Books linkup.  At this point, I'm not really surprised.  Also, I haven't read any books in the last month... so there's that.  #reading #failure

-I was so excited about finding the "witchy stick" with Teh Sister, I forgot to buy the broom I had picked out.  #toomuchexcitement

-After spending $50 on foam stuffing for the dog beds, I was informed that the company that sells the beds would actually have sent me extra stuffing for free.  This irritates me because I posted about it in a FB group before the foam arrived and then posted after pictures in the same group, at which point someone told me about the free stuffing...  If someone had said that I could get free stuffing on the original post, I would have returned the foam and saved myself $50.  #thankspeople

-I used to think that when I got a new car, I'd be able to pick out any color I wanted.  When I got Yurtle, I learned that color options are limited to whatever the company decides to offer unless I wanted to pay to have it painted after the fact.  Yurtle is blue because black, brown, red, white, and orange were not appealing options for me.  #probablywouldhavepickedgreen

-I don't like frozen peas.  I will only eat peas fresh or from a can.  #elitist

-I prefer macaroni salad with peas and eggs.  #inrandomnews

-I made the decision to go to crossfit yesterday evening.  This is surprising because:
1- I haven't been in.. a while (who's counting days?), so that made it difficult.
2- It was raining.  Charleston drivers don't function in the rain.
3- Crossfit is 35 minutes away from House on a not-raining-no-traffic-day.

Before and after...
PS.  The real reason I took the after photo was to show Teh Sister just how much bigger one of my boobs is than the other right now.  WTF body.  #getyourshittogether

Results of my decision:
We did sprints in the rain.  Usually rain runs don't bother me.. but when I have to come right back inside and lift a barbell or try not to piss my pants while I'm attempting to jump rope.. It does.
Also, I was wearing brand new shoes and we were running in the rain.  Let me describe to you my feelings about this (thank you Kevin Hart):

Then I spent AN HOUR getting home.  I got to endure my own Charleston Hell:
Rain + (2Train) + Rush Hour Traffic + Shitty Charleston Drivers = Megan's Ultimate Misery.  PS.  That's the only time math has accurately described my life.  #suckitCalculus #CharlestonHell #neverdoingthatagain

-Teh German set up the TV downstairs for the time being until we replace it with something larger (because the room is huge) and the first show we watched was Grey's Anatomy, but about 3 minutes in, I suggested Teh German change it and he put on TMNT.  #80skids

-We still have tortillas from cinco de mayo and sausage and eggs from scottish eggs, so we got creative at work the other day.  We made sausage patties in the toaster oven, soft boiled eggs in the water boiler, then we made breakfast quesadillas in the quesadilla toaster thingy.  It was delicious.  #Imtheofficialeggpeeler #secretskills #thathashtagcouldgomultipleways #imhungry

-When I got home last night, the 2nd batch of Hue lights was sitting on the counter.  That slightly made me a nicer person.  So prettay.  Teh German created the Germerica (Germany+America) scene with the front 3 lights being red, white, and blue, and the back lights are yellow, red, and off (for black).  He has a lot of fun playing with the lights.

-Because I was cold and tired last night, I finally used my bathtub after dinner.  With the jets on, I couldn't even hear Teh German playing music downstairs (thankfully, as he was trying to get the bass to work properly and I was too grouchy for all the noise (I actually drove most of the way home last night in silence, Teh WJL style)).  I lit a candle, turned on the first episode of Friends, drank my hot chocolate, and did a VO5 hair oil treatment.  #itwaseverythingIddreameditwouldbe

That is my Kindle, NOT a TV in my bathroom.

-Then when I got out of the bathtub, my relaxation immediately evaporated when I discovered that Meri had pooped FOUR TIMES in the guest room, which meant that I had to clean the carpet.  That does explain why she was booking it upstairs after she came inside yesterday.  #assholedog

-I spoke with the fence contractor yesterday and he told me they were starting the project next Wednesday and it would be finished on Friday.  Originally, we discussed them starting on Monday and being completed by Friday, the 27th, to mean: be finished on the 26th because we are leaving Friday morning/Thurs night for MD.  Yeah.  Apparently, he looked at the April calendar when I said start on Monday because April 25th is a Monday.  So when he told me they were starting on the 25 (of May), I was a little concerned for several reasons.  1- we are clearing out some of the trees behind the house over the weekend and we'd like the HOA not to notice, which is easier if they are putting fence stuff in.  2- There's no way to get it done in 2 days.  I told him if he wanted his money, they needed to have it done by Thursday and starting on Monday was my preference.  The guy I've been dealing with is a "good ole boy" and while I don't usually mind these interactions, I have a feeling I probably should have went with a different fence contractor and this wouldn't be an issue.  #homeownerproblems

Weekend Review {2/8}

FRIDAY

Despite being super busy at work, when the plumber called me, I headed home with a quickness since he said he could be there in 20 minutes.  While the plumber fixed the leaky kitchen faucet, I continued working.  He fixed whatever was wrong with the sink causing it to leak and left.  I worked until 2 and then got ready to head to the DMV for my motorcycle test.

I arrived at 2:30 and was waiting for my number to be called at 2:36.  Finally around 3:30 I was called.  We got out to the test area and we were testing Mike's signals and horn and brake lights and she informed me that my front signals weren't working.  They lit up, but didn't flash and without working signals, they wouldn't administer the test.  I almost cried right there.

On Thursday, I had ridden in the rain to the shop to get the horn issue fixed, then ridden in the rain to the DMV only to be told they don't do motorcycle tests in the rain.  So yeah, strike 2.  I immediately went to the shop again and explained the problem.  Within 30 minutes, I had working signal lights and I was well over my goal for my German lessons for the day.

I stopped by In-N-Out Wings to order a party tray for Sunday, then headed home to meet Teh German so we could head out to Coworker's house to kidsit.  Coworker's kids are pretty fun, so it wasn't a problem to watch them on short notice.  It was chicken nuggets and tater tots for dinner, so I cooked those while Teh German kept the kids entertained.  Dinner time was an adventure where Teh German tricked Kid 1 into eating all his tater tots by telling him that Batman dared him to eat all his tater tots (Kid 1 was wearing a Batman shirt).  Whatever works.  After dinner was more play time, then it was bedtime.  Kid 1 did not want to go to sleep for a variety of reasons and it took Kid 2 two times of being held to get him to sleep.  Kid 1 was still awake when Coworker and his wife came home and I was glad that I didn't have to be the bad guy, lol.

Teh German and I are going to make great parents, lol.  We're full of tricks to get not-our-kids to do thigns and we make a pretty good team.  Finally, it was time to go home and crash.

SATURDAY

Teh German worked on Saturday morning, which meant that I should have gotten up and been productive when he left.  Instead, Meri joined me on the bed and we napped.  I did eventually get up, with much moaning and groaning and protesting.  I have been shitty at running to prep for my princess runs (sorry Teh MD-AR!) and I knew I had no excuse to not run.  Soooo, I sat down at the computer and made some online purchases for my princess run costumes.  Then I took the dogs on a walk.

Ok, and then I did actually go on a short 2.5 mile run.

When Teh German got home, I hadn't showered or eaten lunch.  Oops.  Since we were going on a ride, I just stayed stinky (ok not really, I didn't really get sweaty since it was pretty chilly for my run) and shoved some leftovers down my throat and we headed to visit House on the bikes and run some errands.

Teh German and I actually gasped at the same time when we came around the corner of the new neighborhood..

WE HAVE A FIRST FLOOR!!!!!!!  HOUSE IS REAL!

We were so unbearably pumped.  Teh German might have had to ask me to stop screaming in his ears (since we our helmets are bluetooth connected).  We did find one issue which we stopped and spoke with the Dan Ryan person about it (the woman who I refuse to work with, so Teh German had to do all the talking).  Then we headed to Walmart to pick up my 30th-bday-present-to-myself: glasses (Brille in German) and then to CVS to pick up a prescription.  Since it was drizzling, we headed home to be lazy for the rest of the evening.  #puzzleandchill

Meri took Phil's couch, so Phil took my seat, which meant I got Phil and Teh German snuggles at the same time!

SUNDAY

Sunday was a lazy morning so we slept in.  Eventually we got up because we had to clean the house and run to the store to prep for the super bowl party we were hosting.  Teh German cooked eggs and bacon for breakfast while I showered (finally).  After breakfast, we set about cleaning up the house.  Once the tidying was complete, we headed to Target, then Bilo, then In-N-Out Wings to pick up our order.

When we got home, I prepped brownies and we baked a pizza.  Friends started arriving and Coworker delivered smoked pork and omg it was delightful in my mouth.  We had so much food!  The food was way better than the game, unless you were Coworker who was cheering for the Broncos.

proof I actually was watching the game.

Phil and Meri finally got space on the couch after Friends left and Phil was in heaven.

She brought cupcakes with football rings on them, so we were sporting our football bling, despite a loss.

After the final score was displayed, I turned off the TV, Coworker and remaining Friend left, and we cleaned up the kitchen, then crashed in bed.

---------------------------------------
Despite the Panthers loss and the hassle with the DMV, this weekend was still amazing.  We got to hang out with friends, eat good food, and WE HAVE A FIRST FLOOR!!!!!!!  /squeal
