Weekend Review {07/29}

FRIDAY

Work, Chem test, more work.  I skipped Lunch Beers because I wanted to leave the office "early" to go to the gym and get in at least a minimal workout before hitting up Halls Chophouse for dinner with the Lady Gang.  A reservation had been made months ago for 4 and someone wasn't able to go, so I was able to take her place.  #WIN.

After my workout, I headed home, walked the dogs, showered, and then I drove us downtown.

I will admit that Halls is stupid expensive, but I knew that going in, so I was prepared.  We also planned to grab dessert after dinner, so I made sure to leave room for dessert.  Since I had never been there and I'd been told that Kaminsky's is OMFG SO GOOOD, I suggested there for dessert and everyone approved.  We ended up at the West Ashley location so we didn't have to deal with parking for a 2nd time downtown.

I'll be honest.  I was not impressed.  I ordered the Jimny Cricket adult milkshake and it just wasn't good to me.  I think it was more grasshopper, less chocolate mint... and I wanted chocolate mint.  My 2nd choice was the Dreamsicle.. and I chose poorly.  Oh well.  In other news, I'll be sticking with Kilwin's from here on out.  The individual who preached to me about the blessing that is Kaminsky's pretty much said it was way better than Kilwin's.  It's not.  I don't overly care about the adult part of an adult milkshake.. or the dessert part of any adult beverage.. and that is where Kaminsky's shines, I will admit that.  But I'm in it for the deliciousness and I can find something more delicious somewhere else.

That said, I didn't have the Tollhouse Pie, but I doubt I would be wowed by that either since I don't really like chocolate chip cookies.  I'd be willing to go back and try a bite of someone else's Tollhouse Pie while I enjoyed a brownie sundae though.  So I mean.. there's that.

After dessert, we headed back home.  The Husbands were enjoying Smoking Hour when we arrived.  They had also went out to dinner and did some bar crawling in North Charleston, which sounded sketchy as fuck to me.  Other than obvious intoxication (Teh German), everyone was of sound mind and body.

Eventually, it was go home time and bedtime.

SATURDAY

I got up with the dogs on Saturday knowing that Teh German was going to have a rough morning.  After the beasts were taken care of, I went back to bed...  We slept until 11am.  #NoRagrats.

When we finally got up, we had breakfast and coffee and then I did laundry and then I was bored and had nothing to do.  That is still such an unusual occasion that I cleaned out bowl on the island that gathers things and then decided to finally apply the mounting putty (aka Tacky Stuff if you knew me as a kid) to the collage wall so the frames would no longer be crooked.  I also did the rest of the frames in the house while I was at it.

At some point, Teh German installed the mount I purchased for the Show, I was pleased.  Now I just need the opportunity to test it with Teh Running Bestie.

After putty was applied, I checked the laundry, and I really had nothing to do.  I showered.  Bored, again.

So I took a picture of the babies coming up on the succulent I "stole" from the Math and Computer Science Lounge at school.

I finally decided to lay on the couch and finish reading a book on my Kindle that I was 95% of the way through.  Teh German asked if I wanted to watch The Americans and I told him that I wanted to finish my book, but not to get too involved into anything (motovlog videos) because after I was done with the last 5% I was ready.

With the book finished, we marathoned through some Americans until it was time to head over to Teh PT House for a Cool Kids gathering.  There were blue jello shots and I planned on not being sober for long, and I achieved said goal.  There are no pics.  We ate, we talked, we drank, we took jello shots, Teh German wanted to be argumentative with me, I ignored him, then it was finally go home time.

I promptly got ready for bed and passed out before Teh German got in the bed.

SUNDAY

I woke up at 0500 with the reminder that I am not a 20-something anymore and wished for death.  My world was spinning and my head was hurting and my stomach was quite disgruntled.  I laid in bed hoping for sleep or death and neither happened, so I finally got up, used the bathroom, took 3 advil, and went back to bed.

Thankfully, when I woke up a grouchy Teh German at 0800 to feed the dogs (which I had done the day prior before the dogs woke him), I was feeling much better.  I couldn't really go back to sleep, despite my efforts, so I scrolled through social media and then finally got up.

I wanted eggs and toast for breakfast, but Teh German needed the eggs for dinner, so instead, we had to fend for ourselves.  Wanna know the best solution for a hangover?  Bison steak with truffle butter and mushroom risotto.

Before it got too hot, I opted to take the beasts for a stroll.  Pax, in a rare event, shit on the sidewalk, like the gentleman he is.  Then he spent the next 5-6 hours passed the fuck out in his bed.  He didn't even bother to get up with Teh PT Husband came over to deliver stuff, very unusual for our dogs.

We had borrowed Teh PT Fam's air fryer to test how it would make schnitzel and it actually worked out really well.  Since we borrowed their equipment, we invited them and the SC Parents to dinner.

Yay for German dinner.

Teh NY Chef did a search for "easy German desserts" and made these delicious blueberry cake type of bars.  They were super scrumptious. After dinner, it was smoking hour and Teh NY Chef and I cleaned up the mess.  I was feeling generous, so I did the dishes for Teh German since he had done most of the cooking work.  After the kitchen was cleaned up, we headed outside with the dudes and dogs for a bit of socializing until it was time for everyone to head home.

Caught these gorgeous cotton candy clouds as I was about to head upstairs.

Shortly after everyone left, I headed upstairs to get ready for bed and have some scrolling time.  Eventually, Teh German came to bed and then it was sleepy time.  And just like that, the weekend was over.

______________________________________________

I probably could have written this post yesterday, but it's been several days of not clear days and I just didn't have the ability to focus.  Instead, I did homework and work things and picked up Teh PT Kid from camp, had buffet dinner with Teh German, walked the dogs, watered the plants, and did the laundry.

Today was the last day of instruction in our chemistry class.  🙌🙌🙌
Wednesday is our final lab test, our class make up test, then Friday is the final.  I'm not obviously stressed out, and I mentally feel fine (as in, I'm not going to have a stress breakdown about my grade or what's on the test/etc), but my body is obviously stressed about something, based on the mouth Herpaderp I've had going on since I got back from MD.  First it was in my chin/lip crack (that divet under your bottom lip where your chin comes out) and the blisters went away and as it was almost healed, another blister came up in the corner of my mouth, and I got a cold sore on my gum line.  So much rage.

This week is the end of the summer semester, so test, test, final, then we're headed to NC.  Saturday is my 2nd tattoo appointment with Noel and Teh German is making the trek with me on Friday evening.  We'll be staying with Teh Dad and while I'm getting inked, Teh German will be riding, rain permitting.  Sunday, weather permitting, we'll ride... and I'm trying to plan a zipline surprise for Teh German.  We've talked about going ziplining soooo many times and we've yet to do it.  I think it's time to fix that.

Thoughts and prayers and vibes or whatever are appreciated for me making it through the rest of this week without:
-another mouth sore
-killing anyone
-failing anything.

Happy almost August, Gentle Readers.

Five on Friday #191

EINS - Random Shit

-I reread my Monday post and holy fucking grammatical/spelling errors.  What a disaster.  I've fixed them, but it's embarrassing still.

-I KNOW it's a SERIES, but the Hurricanes winning 5-0 Monday night against the Capitals brought me so much fist pumping joy.  Yes, one of our key players was KOed by Ovechkin, but I assume he probably deserved it.  I found it quite amusing that all my Caps FB friends were silent for almost the entire game, other than the reactions from the Ovie fight.  Especially after several of them were posting on FB bragging cheering about their team winning after their first 2 wins.

It's hard being a Hurricanes fan sometimes.  This is our first time in the playoffs in 10 years.  We won the Stanley Cup in 2006 and I was bartending there the next season when we were NOT playing like Stanley Cup champions.

I will say that the Capitals are my backup team.  I cheered for the Caps last year in the playoffs.  Our local ECHL team, the South Carolina Stingrays, feed, ultimately, to the Caps (first to the Hershey Bears, then to the Caps), so I have some allegiance there.  I'm going to come out of the first round with a team to cheer for either way.  Granted, my NC born heart would love a Carolina win, but I'm afraid to get my hopes up.

-Ever feel like you do something for a while and then decide to quit and right before you quit, everyone else starts doing it?  That's how I feel about 9 Rounds (a kickboxing gym).  Teh Sister sent a snap this week about going to the kickboxing gym had enabled her to lose so much weight her wedding dress was now too big on her.  Someone else on FB posted that they had started going to a TITLE kickboxing gym.  And I'm over here like, I'm quitting the kickboxing gym because I don't go enough to get my moneys worth (because running mostly and sometimes real life is just overwhelming) and the owner pissed me off, despite the fact that, for the most part, I really do enjoy the workouts.

-I follow/like very few Facebook pages because I'm very particular about what I want to see on my News Feed.  Within the last few months I liked the Disgruntled Vets (DV) page on FB and it's usually some salty memes about military life, usually inappropriate, like every vet expects.  Wednesday morning there was a meme posted of a female dressed "sexy" with her 2 kids, supposedly at the Commissary or some shopping place on base, with the caption to the effect of, "Husband is deployed, going hunting."  Now normally, I would turn my cheek because IDGAF, but this post just really rubbed me the wrong way.

While I like very few Facebook pages, I rarely EVER comment on public posts on public FB pages because I hate everyone because they are stupid and I do not waste my life fighting with people on the internet.  I read the comments and most of them were to the effect of, "Yep, seen that before," or generally agreeing with the meme content.  And more rage was sparked.  I actually left a comment to the effect of: I find it very ironic that you guys will post about MST and victim shaming and then you go and post shit like this.

I also saw that one of the page moderators had left a comment by the DV account (they sign their comments with their name/nickname/call sign) that "Apparently wives must now wear a burka when their husband deploys?  That's not how it works."  I actually liked the comment, another rarity.

Later, the post was no where to be found.  I am proud that I commented and glad that it was taken down.  I'm over shaming women because of what they wear.

-Teh German and I use different travel cups for our morning coffee.  He uses the small Turvis tumblers while I use these free tumblers that Teh German's Company gave him.  Well, I'm a fucking klutz and I've cracked/broken 2 in the last month by dropping them... and now I have to use the Turvis tumblers and I HATE IT.  They splash up on me if they are too full when I put the lid on and if it's too full, the air hole is blocked so the liquid doesn't come out like it should and then all of a sudden it just FLOODS out, scalding your mouth with hot fucking coffee (which Teh German has actually complained about before).  I DO NOT LIKE IT.  I told Teh German to acquire more of the shitty tumblers from his work for me.  I have made a mental vow to be more careful with them.

Or.. I mean... I could take this an an opportunity to buy tumblers for myself with fun things on them...

-I love having memorable dogs.  I called the groomer to make an appointment for Meri and they asked for the dog's name and breed and she recognized Meri after I said Podenco.  People who knew Phil was after I confirmed that, yes, he was the dog that peed on them/someone they know.

-On Thursday afternoon, I took a test in my Networks class.  I was already pissed that we were taking the test because when asked if we wanted another test, I said NO, but since the majority of the class is failing, those people needed a test to raise their grade.  So I had to take the test, which I was already irritated about.  Then, Thursday after getting to school, I realized I'd left my calculator at home.  I could have borrowed someone's calculator, buttttt I have a Casio that no one else has, so I don't know how to use a TI calculator and I didn't want to walk into a test already at a disadvantage.  I took this in stride though.  My 11 class had been cancelled, so after my 0915 ended, I headed back home, stopping at the car wash on the way.  At home, I packed my calculator in my bag, ate lunch, did work things, did the laundry, played with the beasts.  When I headed back to campus, I stopped and got gas, ensuring that Willow's chores were completed.

The test was way harder than expected, to be completely based on homework we'd done AND that we had the answers to.  It took me almost the whole time to complete the test and then I went over the class slides to confirm one of my answers that I wasn't sure about.  Class end time came and the teacher said the test was over and as I was packing up, I turned around and saw someone working on a question I hadn't even seen.  The professor had taken my exam already and I was like, Where is that question!?  I didn't even see it!  The professor flipped through my exam and tried to show me the page where the question was, but the page was stuck to the page in front of it and he struggled to get the pages apart, proving that I hadn't seen it since the pages were still stuck together.  I had flipped through the entire test no less than 3 times to make sure I answered everything.  I asked to see the question and it was something I KNEW how to answer easily.  I asked if I could do the question and the professor laughed at me and said, "Really?"  I responded, "Yes, I obviously didn't even see the page existed until the end."  He's very by-the-book, so his lack of response was enough to know that I was fucked.  It was an extra credit question that I REALLY could have used the points on.

So I was doubly enraged when I left, after having SUCH a good day.  Then on my way home, Waze redirected me through Park Circle because traffic and I saw a greyhound named Otis Spunklemeyer who had the "cow" pattern.  The owner didn't even get weirded out by my sitting through a green light to chat with him about his dog and how it's acceptable for greyhound people to act crazy about other greyhounds.  I was irrationally angry until I finally told Teh German about it, and then I felt better.  I just needed to tell someone about my injustice.

-When this happened today, I was CACKLING and CRYING at my desk and my coworkers were very concerned about me...  You can't really tell from the photo here, but the first photo Teh German sent was from the toilet wipes section, which I knew from brand names like Cottonelle, Huggies, etc.  I will FOREVERRRR laugh about this.

ZWEI - Money Shit

Wanna know how to know something BIG is about to happen in my life?
This section.  🤦
Also, my replacement credit card finally arrived, so 🤷.

-Bojangles.  duh.
-$5 for my annual Google storage.
-Audible
-Oshkosh shopping spree for Nephew J and Cousin A.
-More nephew overalls.  #SorryNotSorry, I had rewards to use!
-Apple pie a la mode from McDonald's... #TreatYoSelf
-Almost $500 for the dog's wellness check.  That was for bloodwork, 1 vaccination, 1 nail clipping, and for the vet to feel them up x2...  FUCK ME, kids are expensive.  (Laugh, Gentle Readers, I know furless kids are more expensive.)
-Monday sweet tea.
-Carolina Hurricanes black jersey with the hurricane flags, to replace the almost too-small red regulation jersey I currently have.  There was a 20% off code on NHL.com, it was like it was meant to be.  I couldn't decide on a player name, so I got Stormy the mascot as my jersey ##/name.  I could have gotten the female mascot, but no one would know who Caroline was, so I went with Stormy.
-A surprise for Teh German.
-Stingrays tickets for tonight.  I figure that I'm deserting my husband to study abroad in his home country to I should spend one-on-one time with him before I leave.  I had considered inviting some groupies, but opted to have date night instead.

5-0 win on Tuesday!!! WOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Please note Meri's annoyance with my funking shit.
But also, please note that I was excited-anxious about the game and she's "comforting" me.
I've noticed she does this more and more these days.
She's da bestest.

2-1 win, Carolina! WOOOOOOO!!!!
That makes the series tied.
I've gone out of my way not to post about it on FB other than to post that I'm watching the game, so the Caps fans don't feel like I'm rubbing it in their faces.  BUT THIS IS MY SPACE, BITCHES, AND WE TIED THE FUCKING SERIES thus far! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

There's a storm blowing up the east coast today/this weekend and this is what I looked like after walking into work.
I honestly thought my umbrella was not going to survive the trek.
But, we made it... and then I used my space heater to dry myself.
#DoWhatYouGottaDo

A coworker brought in Krispy Kreme easter doughnuts and I was actually here.
Joy in my mouth was had.

FÜNF - Things that made me happy this week

  1. My runner abilities.  So when it's only lightly raining I can sprint to my car and move it closer to our building instead of having to deal with whatever downpour situation is going on when I finally leave.
  2. Rain and the subsequent "chill" (it will still be almost 70°F, people, calm your tits).
  3. 1 more week of the semester remains.
  4. Hurricanes being 2-2 in the playoff series. And that 5-0 win?  FUCK YAS.
  5. Narrowing down Italy plans.  Once I determine the Rome situation, I will submit and pay.
  6. Friday Lunch Beers.  Granted, I don't get beer, but I do socialize with my coworkers, which is nice when you're rarely in the office.
  7. Coworkers who bring in Krispy Kreme and then laugh with you as you keep tally of how many doughnuts specific people eat.  4 was the max eaten by 1 person.  Said person is always the most excited, and thankful, about others bringing in free noms.
  8. Teh German choosing to shave Meri instead of keeping her shaggy.  I love shaved Meri.
  9. Discovering a working Icee machine with blue AND red on campus in the store.
  10. Teh German making me laugh and hugging me extra on rough days and generally being there and spending his day off today doing house projects for Teh Ville.  He's a keeper.  For forever.

Happy Friday, Gentle Readers.

Weekend Review {04/08}

THURSDAY

Thursday was like a marathon.  Anxiety had me up at 0430 and I wasn't going back to sleep, despite my best efforts, so I got up, did the laundry, took my shower, and headed to school early to accomplish school and work things.  I had class, then class again, then I sat down to do "one quick thing" to my code which ended up being more like an infinite amount of quick things, so I stopped to go down and grab my lunch from the car, which I ate, while coding because when the coding bug bites, you accept it and you code.

I had actually planned to take a nap because I knew it was going to be a long day, but it didn't happen.  I worked on stuff through lunch and then it was afternoon class, then I headed to work to change into running clothes and wait for Teh Running Bestie to meet me (yay!) so we could run the i5k.

I thought the race started at 6, but it actually started at 6:30, so we had to stand around for a bit.  BUT there was a greyhound there, so we were pacified.  The race went fine.  We did a walk/jog, nothing overly strenuous.  I was surprised at how little I coughed, and glad.  Coast was giving out free beer, so that was cool if that's your thing.  After the race, I grabbed a free beer for Teh German, since there were canned beers there and technically, I had paid for it, even if I don't drink it, and then we left.

I dropped Teh Running Bestie off at her car, called an order in at Willie Jewells, picked up the order, and went straight home.  Since it was a little after 8pm when I got home, I didn't even bother bringing in all my shit, just the food.  We immediately ate dinner, then I took care of my shit.  Laundry, taking off my bra, putting shit away, gathering shit for the next day, and finally sitting down to finish my code stuff and letting it run overnight, and finally going to bed.

For real, when I rolled over in the bed, I don't remember closing my eyes.. that's how quickly I fell asleep.. and that's never how it works for me.  I didn't wake up once all night and it was a fucking delight.  I'm not sure the last time that's happened.

FRIDAY

Because there was no class on Friday, it was a work only day.  I went into the office kinda early since I had a laser appointment at 0900.  After my laser appointment, I went to the Chiro.  Since it was pouring buckets outside when I was trying to leave the Chiro's office, I talked him into escorting me to my car with an umbrella since "we're in an unsafe neighborhood" (which isn't actually untrue, lol).  He was a good sport and made sure I was mostly dry all the way to the car.  Then I went back to work for several hours until it was finally time to go home.

Olive-Walive is a boss at using a pillow.

Teh Running Bestie, Teh PT Wife, and I headed to the Bridge Run Expo around 4:30ish.  We picked up our race packets, perused the tables, then it was dinner time.  We decided on Page's Okra Grill, which was a risk since there is always a wait.  Fortunately, for a party of 3, it was only a 15 minute wait, and Teh PT Wife was able to handle that.

Chicken livers, cornbread, sweet potatoes, hushpuppies, and some pinto bean corn "salsa".

I know our server was slammed with tables, but we didn't have silverware when our food was delivered and I had asked for a water and didn't receive it until I was halfway done with my meal... after I'd had to go up to the server station to ask for silverware.  Yeah, that wasn't my favorite thing.  We did see the dude after the race on Saturday, but didn't say anything to him.  I think Teh PT Wife and I were both surprised to see him out of the 30,000 people there.. and we lost Teh Running Bestie.. we happen upon our server from dinner the night before.  The world works in mysterious ways.

After dinner, we headed back home.  Teh PT Wife loves me and sent Teh German and Teh Chief Smartass home.  I was exhausted and wanted to go to bed and I knew if they came home after I was already in the bed, that would wake me up and I wouldn't have been able to go back to sleep and then I would be EXTRA stabby.

It didn't take long for it to be bedtime since we had an early start the next day.

SATURDAY

When the alarm went off at 0530, I was legitimately confused.  I quickly determined it wasn't a school day, but could NOT remember why the alarm was going off.  It took a solid 20 seconds to remember it was Bridge Run day.

We were on the road by 0615, headed to the Coliseum to catch a bus to the start line.  We did a car go the opposite way of bus traffic and I was in such a bitchy mood, I really wanted that person to get hit by a bus.  Based on our general disgruntlement throughout the weekend, I'd say that all 3 of us, myself, Teh PT Wife, and Teh Running Bestie were PMSing.  It was rough.

I tried to take a nap on the bus ride, but the radio was BLARING and then it was static once we got into Mount Pleasant, which was better to me than my ear drums busting since it kinda sounded like the brown noise I listen to while I sleep.  We got to the start area and then decided to jump into the furthest forward corral we could sneak into.  I was in D corral, but Teh Running Bestie and Teh PT Wife were further back and I didn't want to be waiting over an hour to start the race.  A nazi was bib checking every.single.person (as she should) that went into D and E corrals, but the oblivious dude at F corral wasn't really paying attention so we snuck in.  Then some twatty bitch made some comments when I decided to stop moving and stand in the space that was in front of them.  Yes, it was tight, but there's 30,000 people here bitch, STFU.  I'm not touching you, breathing on you, or otherwise harming you.  Get over it (which is ironically, also the motto for the Bridge Run, so HA!).

Teh PT Wife and I ended up going on ahead of Teh Running Bestie.  This wasn't ideal since we ended up almost not being able to find her at the finish line because fucking chaos.  When we went into Marion Square, where the post-race stuff was happening, there was ZERO cell phone coverage, so we had to move out into the streets to be able to text her and her location wasn't updating.  UGH.

Wut bridge?

We finally managed to get text messages through and met at the Krispy Kreme bus.  We had grabbed water and a banana for Teh Running Bestie, but she hadn't gotten our texts in time and already had to fight the masses to get water, which always makes us stabby.  Throughout the race, I had been telling Teh PT Wife that I was annoyed with the weaving between people we were having to do.  Then we got to the finish line and there was no water and we had to discover a new area of the map to find the water (you're welcome for that gamer reference).  Here's the thing.. when participants have to ask each other where to find food/water after a race, YOUR RACE IS BAD.

And so.. I have come to a conclusion.
2020 will be my final year running the bridge run.  I'm over the crowds, I'm over the hassle it is with Teh German to get my car downtown the night before the race, I'm over the fact that the day before it usually rains, making getting downtown even more tedious, I'm over shuttling to the start, I'm over the extra 2 miles added on to the length of the race to get to the start line and to get to the car.

Why 2020?  Because I can't do 4 years of a run.  I need an "even" number to finish on.  And because Teh PT Kid told his mom that he would like to run the Bridge.

So after finally getting to the car in the parking garage, we headed to Early Bird Diner for post-race brunch with Teh German and Teh Chief Smartass.  I had called them when we got to the downtown portion of the race so they could head there and kickstart the wait time for us.  #SorryNotSorry.

I was super pumped to see the Oatmeal Cream Pie ice cream on the dessert menu and super disappointed when it didn't live up to my remembered expectations.  There was no talking during eating time, so that meant we were all huuuungry.  After brunch, we picked up Willow from the Coliseum, then we headed home.

I set up taco soup in the crockpot for dinner then piddled around the house doing random shit and finally showering.  I had debated taking a nap, I felt good, so I wasn't sure if I needed one, but ultimately ended up napping.  It didn't hurt my feelings.  When I got up, I shredded the chicken for the soup, then it was dinner time.

After dinner, I worked on a Cricut projects and Teh PT Fam came over to visit.  Eventually, it was late so Teh PT Fam left and soon after, it was bedtime.

SUNDAY

I wanted a late start on Sunday morning, but couldn't manage to sleep in once the beasts had been released, so I just got up and started working on homework.  It rained in the AM, but we still actually went through with our plans to take the beasts on a walk at Riverfront Park (where the i5k was).

I had managed to clip Pax's nails before we left, without help, which was nice.. and I got a few of Meri's before I quicked her and she started bleeding like a stuck pig all over the couch, which set off Teh German, which set off Meri.. and I'm trying to hold her bloody foot.  It was as lovely as you can imagine.  Even with her anxiety meds and being exhausted from the park walk, she was NOT having more of my shit.  Teh Running Bestie tried to dremel her remaining paw and neither of us had ever been so scared that Meri was going to bite one of us, so we gave up.

Also, I do not have Mom Guilt because all of Meri's nails are black, which makes it extra difficult NOT to quick the dogs.  "Quick"ing is when you cut too short and the nail bleeds.  It doesn't last long, and it's equivalent to ripping off a hangnail for humans, but Meri does NOT like her feet to be messed with, thus why it is such a momentous event when nails get cut.

Back to the park though, we sent the beasts with Teh Running Bestie, who was going back home, so Teh German and I could accomplish the week's grocery store run.  We stopped at Sam's, Lidl, and then Walmart, unfortunately.  I had been hoping it was only a 2 store week, but I was not so lucky.  But it's fine because we were able to get all the stuff on the list instead of pushing it off... again.

When we got home, I put away groceries and then Teh German and I started working on German dinner: Hähnchenschnitzel (chicken schnitzel), käsespatzle (like mac and cheese), und Rotkuhl (red cabbage).  We started on dinner no later than 6 and we didn't eat until almost 8:30.  UGH.  But it was sooooo worth it.  This was the best time that we've done German dinner, Teh German and I agreed.

Front to back:
Rotkuhl, jaeger/mushroom gravy, Käsespatzle, Schnitzel

There was also "jaeger" gravy, but it didn't really come out right..
but the flavor was fine.. so I used it as a dipping sauce, lol.

After cleaning up dinner, it was bedtime.

Sadly, Teh Running Bestie left on Monday morning.  That's always the worst, when she leaves me.  Even though we know we'll see each other again in June, I'm unbearably jealous that Teh German will get to see her in May when he goes to MD for the GEGR picnic, so before me.  I know, I know, I'll be in Germany doing awesome things.. but principle people!

Overall, a very good weekend.  I didn't get much done in the way of homework, which makes for a stressful week... Which can be determined from this post going live on a Wednesday afternoon...

Monday, I had a filling put on my broken tooth.  I have irrational dentist anxiety, but I managed.  The dentist said if the filling doesn't do the trick (eliminating the pain) or doesn't stay attached (since the break was at such a severe angle), a root canal is next.

This is literally what my brain did when the dentist said that:

So this fucking filling better stay on.  That said, the lack of pain has been startling.  I didn't realize just how much it hurt.  Also, I no longer have to clean the tooth out with my finger when I'm done eating since it would trap food.  I'm sure that is Teh German's favorite thing about my filling, no more watching me pick food out of my teeth after we eat.  That said, it is very much a habit now, after several years of doing it...

Monday night, I thought it was Tuesday night and I was extremely disappointed that the week was already dragging and it was only Monday.

Finally, Teh Running Bestie and the Disney Hercules Facebook account peer pressured me into starting to play Disney Emoji Blitz.  I haven't decided if I will continue to play it long term because I have a very hard time not playing it at the wrong times and being grouchy while I am playing it if someone messes with me and causes me to score low.  Yes, I know, #MeganProblems.

2 MORE WEEKS OF CLASS.
I can literally drag myself through this.
I run half marathons.
I can survive 2 weeks of end-of-semester-itis.
For real though, wish me luck.  The struggle is real.
