Weekend Review {01/02}

Don't judge me, but my motivation to blog has been remarkably low.  You probably didn't notice, but I didn't even do a 2017 review.  I started one on Friday out of obligation and then didn't even finish it.  Meh.  That's where I am in life.  Part of me is like, but do you want to forget all this fun?  Another part of me is like, nothing was that remarkable.  You just need an excuse to do something with all those selfies.  It's complicated.  With these colds temps, my motivation dropped lower than it has been and it's a good thing there's no school right now.  All I want to do is stay home and nap.

FRIDAY

We had some freezing rain on Thursday night and I came outside to see Teh German's truck frozen over.  There were icicles... in Charleston!  Mind = blown.

It was jammie day at work and I was in my element.  All my teachers used to comment on my pajama wear that I'd wear to school.  Obviously, I knew something they didn't.

Teh Sister made matching PJ pants for Teh German and I.
I rocked those bad boys.

I sent this Megan-made meme to Teh German on Friday morning.  It was a tongue in cheek joke.  The bobber bike had been strung up in the garage for a month and Teh German was waiting on someone to call him to tell him to pick up the wheels for the bike.  They originally told him it would take one week.  Over a month later and Teh German was pretty stabby about it.

The other big event of the day was that Company bought a kegarator and our last business day of 2017 was the "test run".  I wasn't into that, so instead when a coworker and I went out to the Brunch Holiday food truck, we made a pit stop at Food Lion so I could pick up some OJ and I happened upon some champagne that I might drink.

Teh German was apparently missing work since he was on vacation all week and felt the urge to apply his QA services to the new keg.  Fortunately, my coworkers don't mind Timo attending our functions.  And let's be honest, he's drinking my portion of the beer.  After he arrived at Company, I headed out to the Social Security office.  I had planned on leaving earlier, but when Teh German told me he was coming to company, I felt like it would be nice to be there to greet him.

I was at the SS office for a little over an hour.  I know I dozed off during that time.  After my paperwork was filed, I headed back to Company for some beverages.  Around 5, I asked Teh German what he wanted to do for dinner and we agreed on pizza.  We invited Teh Neighbor Besties and headed to a different Famulari's than we normally go to since we had a Groupon.

We shared some appetizers and Teh German ended up being suuuuper drunk and got the hiccups and was generally a dick.  Teh AF Maintainer drove Teh German and his truck home.  Teh German immediately went to bed when he got home and I stayed up.  I finished my audiobook and hard copy book and worked on The Devil's Puzzle until it was way past my bedtime.

SATURDAY

Saturday started with Teh German rolling over and apologizing to me for being a dick the night before.  With that out of the way, we got a slow start to the day.  We had a new cleaning lady stop by after breakfast to give us an estimate and after she left I worked on puzzle for a little bit.  Teh German eventually went to pick up his wheels.  When he got home, he wasn't excited as I expected.  BECAUSE THEY PAINTED THEM THE WRONG COLOR.  You guys, I almost pulled the Tiger Wife out and drove out to this fucktard shop and gave them a piece of my mind.

I could tell Teh German was beaten down by how long it had taken and he just wanted the wheels on the bike and for the project to be done.  Additionally, they told him that it would cost him another $150 to get the wheels painted red like he had originally wanted.  He was very disappointed, yet still put the wheels on the bike.

After Bob was completely together, Teh German asked me if I wanted to go on a ride.  I agreed and we rode down to the Battery.  We stopped for some photos (and for Teh German to give his butt a break) and then we headed home.
Side note: It's super adorable when kids want to watch us ride and/or wave at us.

#HumbleBrag: Thursday, Teh German and I finally set up his Navy Federal account.  After going to the branch and being told we could it online, we headed home.  We weren't able to do it online, but we were successful doing it over the phone.

After Navy Fed, I called Progressive and merged our vehicle/motorcycle insurance.  It seemed more complicated than it needed to be and after waiting 20 minutes, I finally hung up.  In an awesome turn of events, the customer service rep actually called me back and we finished setting everything up.  Which is the real reason why Teh German was able to take out Bob on a ride.  Bob is street legal!

When we got home, Twin Dad asked Teh German if they were going to meet up to watch the UFC fight.  I wasn't really interested in the fight, but I was interested in dinner.  Teh German drove to pick up Twin Dad and I met them at Charleston Sports Pub for dinner.  Since discovering grilled chicken tenders at bars, my life has been changed for the better.  I don't feel like I'm eating garbage and I don't have to deal with working to eat my food like if I had gotten traditional chicken wings.

I had warned the server that I would require some fried oreos when we had ordered entrees, so he knew what I meant when I flagged him down about 15 minutes after we finished eating and said, "It is time."

After dessert, I sat around for a few more minutes and then headed out because I really dislike watching people beat the shit out of each other for no reason (at least in hockey there's usually a purpose).

When I went home, I decided to warm up (the cold on the ride felt like it had permeated my bones) with a bath.  I watched a few episodes of Grey's Anatomy and then headed to bed to read for a little while before it was time for lights out.

I barely even woke up with Teh German came home.  I didn't even bother to look at the time.

SUNDAY

Sunday was a slow day.  We had planned with the GLCK to host a NYE "bash" with pajamas encouraged (obviously a huge trend to my weekend was pajamas).

I woke up to a hairy ass.
Meri had laid between my legs and was using my butt as her pillow.

We needed to pick up some ingredients for dinner since Teh German was making German food, Currywurst, Käsespätzle, and fries.  We also had purchased pretzels and pretzel rolls and kaiser rolls...  All 4 German food requirements checked off: potatoes, sausage, cheese, and bread.  We headed to Lidl to do our shopping and then Publix to find Spätzle.  Teh German almost had a breakdown when he realized that a small back of Spätzle was $4.

When we got home, groceries were put away and Teh German did things and I went outside and scooped approximately a mabillionty bags of poop from the back yard while listening to my new audiobook.

There were SEVEN half full bags of poop.
I put a bag on the pan and then when I can't add anymore poop, I remove the bag and add another.

After I came inside, Teh German and I worked on taking down the remaining Christmas decorations.  I told Teh German he could leave up the tree, but when I turned around to check on the status, the ornaments were taken off and half the lights were removed and I just let it go.

I'm a genius and we actually transported the Christmas tree in a fitted sheet.
After I got most of the water out of the stand, I slid the tree onto the center of a fitted sheet.  When it was time to move the tree, we pulled the sheet up as far as it would go (to catch the needles) and then moved the tree.  This meant that most of the needles were caught by the sheet instead of leaving a trail through our house!  This is the same way we got the tree inside too.  I'm already planning on going to the thrift store next fall to buy 2 fitted sheets for next year's tree.  I ended up tossing both sheets this year since they were pretty messed up from some crafting projects and then tree sap.  You're welcome for that ingenious idea.

We got to Skype with Zee Germans in the afternoon since it was later on NYE there.

Teh German started dinner while I puzzled.  Eventually Teh Neighbor Besties came over and we enjoyed German foods for dinner.  After dinner, I permitted Teh German and Teh PT Husband to smoke cigars in the vented garage since it was really cold outside.  Inside, we played some Watch Ya Mouth.  PSA: If your mouth guard is hurting your mouth, try a bigger guard.

After a bit, we all came back inside.  We played some Heads Up and then some SongPop, which was a disaster since the party version of the game is garbage on the Apple TV.  Boo.  Eventually, Teh German turned on the ball drop for us.

I'd threatened Teh German with not sleeping in our bed 5 minutes before this picture because he was pissing me off so bad.
When the clock struck midnight, we reset and we liked each other again.

Soon after midnight, everyone headed home and we headed to bed.

MONDAY

Monday morning, I went out shopping with Teh PT Wife.  I found some items I probably could have lived without, but succumbed to commercialism anyways.  I practiced socializing like Teh Running Bestie taught me: talking to kids while we all waited in line to check out.  Teh PT Wife said I wasn't even creepy, which was a plus.  #SCORE

Teh Mom had this set when I was growing up.

I finished up the shopping trip with an Auntie Anne's pretzel, which was as solid of a life choice as a Publix cupcake for breakfast.  When I got home, I showed Teh German my loot and made him try on the things I purchased for him.  Only 1 return necessary!

After going through everything, I headed upstairs and read for a bit and laid down for a nap.  Teh German came upstairs around 6 and hung out with the family (Pax and Meri had been napping with me on the bed... /swoon) for a few minutes.  Eventually, we all headed downstairs for dinner time.  We had leftovers and then opted for a few episodes of Mad Men.  We also tried to workout the SongPop issues, but it wasn't to be.  Instead, we both downloaded the game and now we're playing against each other.

Eventually, it was bedtime... and I couldn't sleep since I had napped too late.. which is exactly what Teh German said was going to happen and I just hate it when he's right.

Overall, a great end to 2017 and a great start to 2018.
This is my last school-less week and I'm already dreading the start of school.  Or that could be general tiredness from shitty sleeps last night?  Who knows.

Goals for this week:
  • Finalize Australia details.
    • Purchase diving trip.
    • Find Sydney AirBnB
    • Find flights
  • Figure out Germany details for Dec 2018.
    • Flights/dates
  • Upload media to WeddingMix site so our wedding video can be created.
  • Track down my advisor about my science class problem.
  • Return shit to Kohl's and JCPenny
  • Post a blog on Friday?  (Wednesday's post is already scheduled)
  • Workout/run.  I have a half marathon coming up in less than 2 weeks.  I should act like.
  • Prepare for Teh Running Bestie and Teh Soccer Mom's visit.
  • Not forget to change the garage code for the new cleaning lady...

Happy 2018, Gentle Readers.

Weekend Review {12/18}

FRIDAY

I teleworked on Friday, as I had been instructed to do and it was fabulous.  I went to the doctor after my daily meeting.  She told me that there wasn't anything she could do to help me and that I should just keep fighting it as best I could and if it lasted longer than a week to fill the prescription she wrote me.  I took a bath in the middle of the day to see if the steam would help me feel better.  And I also made sure to take a nap in the afternoon so I could function for whatever shenanigans came up in the evening and it was good that I did.

Our first stop was Teh German's work holiday gathering at Vincent Chicco's downtown and honestly.. I wasn't super impressed with the food.  The atmosphere was great though and we got to hang out with people I hadn't seen in a while.  I spent most of the time ensuring that no one touched me to they couldn't get my germs.  It was funny and sad at the same time.  PS.  NEVER listen to a dude when he says that a company event is NOT dress up.  I was wearing jeans and a sweater and was extremely under dressed and mostly mortified.  Of course, Teh German dgaf.  Ugh.  Boys.

After Teh German's work gathering had ended, we headed to Company's holiday gathering since they were still partying.  I was about half a flask of Sailor Jerry into the night, so I wasn't feeling as bad as I could have been.  The party dwindled down soon after we arrived, which happened to be right in time for me to win a Starbucks gift card and have some cake.  I was trucking along nicely and agreed to go to the "after party" at Red's Ice House with a few coworkers.

We ended up getting home around 0130.

SATURDAY

Saturday morning came with a roughness.  I had finished off my entire flask of Sailor Jerry, plus 2 vodka drinks the night before, plus my Dayquil regimen.. I was hunnnnnggg ooovvveeerrr.  Nonetheless, I got up around 1115 to get ready for the Wreaths Across America event I had signed up to do.  I made a poor life choice to stop by McDonald's on the way and the drive thru took forever.  The drive thru wait made me late and then Waze put me in the middle of the sketchy hood and there was no cemetery that I could find.  I looked up the address on the website and Waze had misled me.  ugh.  It would have taken me another 20 minutes to get to the correct location, so I just gave up the fight.  I was disappointed, but I would have arrived 45 minutes after the start and that just seems like bad taste.

Instead, I headed downtown to exchange the sweatshirt I had won at the Yelp event for a size that would actually fit me.  After getting myself downtown and finding a parking garage, I dealt with holiday shoppers on King Street, finally arriving at my destination.  At which point, I learned that they didn't have normal people sizes and my trip had been in vein.  Ugh.  I called Teh German on my walk back to Yurtle to whine.

Since I was out, I continued being productive.  I headed towards Kohl's to return something and made a pit stop at Total Wine on the way.  Total Wine was busier than I'd ever experienced.  There were zero parking spots in the lot and people were parking in the fire lane.  I did not park legally, but whatevs.  Those huge ass handicap zones only serve to piss me off at all the wasted parking opportunities.  My trip to Kohl's was short and sweet.  After, I headed to Sam's to pick up coffee.  I had found a local brand that I wanted Teh German to try.

When I got home, Teh German had been productive.  He had put together a new media shelf and hung the wall file in the downstairs bathroom for books.  He helped me rearrange the loft and then I arranged the DVDs on the new shelf.

We'd like a square table for the corner, but otherwise, we agreed that this set up wasn't so bad.

We had a holiday gathering at Teh PT House in the evening, so I laid down and napped before the fun started so I could be moderately human.  I woke up to Teh German standing over me and screamed like he was about to stab me, which didn't help my already sore throat.  He had been there to wake me up so we could get ready and he felt pretty bad for scaring me.  After we were clean and dressed, we headed over to Teh PT House for fun.  We had dinner and played Cards Against Humanity.  Teh German and a few others skipped out on CAH to go outside and have smoke time.  I was struggling, so I gave up on CAH and went and laid down on the couch.

The jello shot Christmas tree was felled.

CAH Seflie

Andddd I was done.  Max came to snuggle with me.  /swoon

At some point, Teh Dental Hygienist covered me with a blanket and soon after, Teh German roused me to take me home.  At some point he came home and drunkenly turned ON the lights trying to turn them off.  He didn't die that night, but it was a close call.

SUNDAY

Sunday morning I woke up to handle the dogs (against my will) and stayed up.  I had some tea since my throat was killing me and finally finished The Handmaid's Tale.  I made arrangements for brunch at Iron Dog Diner with homies.  It came out that Teh German had danced his way home from Teh PT House, which I was sad to have missed.  I had known Teh German was super drunk when he came home from the way he was shuffling around and that whole lights thing and his twitching in his sleep and the way his limbs did some magical Stretch Armstrong thing when he was sleeping (his arms were extra floppy in my space), but the dancing was a different level.  I was definitely surprised he was functioning as well as he was after hearing all he had to drink.

Lunch was delicious, despite the wait.  After brunch, we headed home and I piddled around the house aimlessly.  I wrapped Christmas presents, finally.. and by wrapped, I mean, I bagged that shit up and called it a day.  Wrapping paper is too much effort this year.  I did box up items to be mailed, but that was it.  Teh Dad called and sufficiently pissed me off by ensuring me that he KNEW my husband was taking care of me since I was sick.  Apparently, he meant the Husband that was laying on the couch watching snowboarding YouTube videos who couldn't pick up the bag of trash that I had thrown down the stairs when he had been downstairs a few minutes prior to me going down the stairs with my hands full of boxes.  Or Husband who had let me vacuum up a spilled tin of cookies on Thursday night when I was at my death-ly-ist, instead of stopping me and taking over the chore himself.

I'm just going to take a moment to rant:  It infuriates me that men "need" to be babied when they are sick, but since I'm a woman, I'm expected to function as normal.  It also infuriates me that my dad seems to think that Teh German walks on water and does no wrong, but it's on ME when I'm in a bad mood because I'm sick or any other reason, not because he seems to forget that I do A LOT, if not more than Teh German in our house.  I purposely try not to keep score for this reason, but when someone acts like Teh German does MORE than me for any reason (but especially because he's "The Man of the House"), I get stabby.  I may have said to Teh Dad, "Why don't you just call Teh German and talk to him if you want to kiss his ass?  Because I don't need you to call me to kiss Teh German's ass."

Let's just say, it wasn't our longest conversation.
After getting off the phone, I headed over to Teh PT House to drop off some items and pick up items we had left the night before.  I socialized for a little bit, then headed home to puzzle and audiobook.

Sky, mountains, one tree, and the castle are mostly complete.
Next comes the hellacious part of the trees.

After doggy dinner time, Teh German finally left his couch perch and came downstairs.  I hadn't bothered to feed the beasts, so Teh German took care of that.  I had been trying to talk to him and he'd walked away and couldn't hear me and after repeating myself multiple times, I was pissed.  Teh German then pointed out that maybe I was hangry, but I also pointed out that it was disrespectful to walk away while someone is talking to you, knowing you can't hear them, then act like it's MY fault that YOU can't hear me... so maybe it was both, but fuck if I'm going to take the blame for that because hanger when you're acting like a fucking douche.  Nope.

We did agree on a dinner plan and Teh German cooked up sausage to go on salads.  Seriously.  Minimal effort is my Christmas theme this year.  #notsorry.

After dinner, we cleaned up, I finished the last of the castle pieces, and we watched an episode of Mad Men.  Betty just found Don's box of secrets... and it was too late to start another episode.  I was tempted to tell Teh German to play another, but he opted to turn it off and that was that.  Except then we spent another 15 minutes on our phones and then went upstairs to get ready and when Teh German got in bed he "had" to check his phone again... /rolleyes.  I think we need a social media cut off time.  Seriously.

______________________________________________

And then the weekend was over.  This week is eerie.  Know what is scary?  Nothing on the schedule.  Usually when the schedule is empty, our life runs off the rails.  I'd call this a Christmas miracle, but I'm too scared.

One week till Christmas!  I am hoping for a surprise for me under the tree.. but we'll see.  I do know 3 of the gifts Teh German got me because I told him what to get me.  A surprise would be super sweet though.  A girl can dream.

Things I'd like to accomplish this week:
-Select wedding photos for printing.
-Schedule a massage
-Not be sick anymore.
-Maybe start the name change process?  Social security office and a new passport photo?  We'll see.
-Mail off Christmas packages.
-Return another item to Kohl's (ugh).

Weekend Review {12/11}

What?  A weekend review on a Monday?  Don't worry, I'm just as surprised as you are..

Here's a brief show of things that you may have missed out on:

We decorated for Christmas.
This pained Teh German since Germans wait until MUCH closer to Christmas to decorate.
It was not allowed this year since we were hosting the neighborhood holiday gathering.

This made us cry.
Teh German even came in my office after I posted it on instagram to give me a hug and cry a little with me.

We went to a friend's annual holiday party and this was the entertainment, pre-white elephant exchange.

I ran some miles.

My peppermint lights on my desk bring me great joy when I open the office.

Pre-FRIDAY

Wednesday was my last day of class for the semester.  That evening, Teh PT Wife and I went out for dinner and we went to the mall so I could use some coupons I'd received.  Honestly, I needed a break from all the things and it was perfect.  Also, I got new smelly things from Bath and Body Works and new bras from VS.

Thursday, I worked, but used some precious PTO time to leave have lunch with Teh German (which did not go well at all), then went home to clean.  The cleaner stood us up on Wednesday and I was stressed about it since we had people coming to our house on Saturday evening.  I really needed to study, but I knew that if I tried to study, I would only be thinking of cleaning, so I made a trade-off.  I had almost finished the upstairs when Teh German came home.

Teh German volunteered to help clean and I tasked him with our bathroom sink, which I was looking least forward to.  I should have gave him more tasks, but instead put it on myself and went downstairs to study.  Teh German took care of dinner, which was good, and then it was back to studying.

FRIDAY

Instead of going into the office Friday morning, I teleworked until it was time to head to campus for my exams.  I got up at regular time so I would actually be productive.  This is also why there was a drive-by blog on Friday morning.

My computer science exam was from 1-4.
My discrete math exam was from 5:30-8:30.

I had intentions to swing by the Chiro's office on Friday before my exams, but failed at that.  I also failed at studying for my math exam.  #YOLO.  I tried to look over some stuff before the exam, but I was DONE with all of it.

Fortunately, my math exam wasn't anything I found impossible, so I stumbled through it and walked out at 7:45 feeling confident that I had done my best, but more importantly, what's done is done.

I called Teh German who had been on standby.  We agreed to meet at Sam's Club to pick up items for the neighborhood holiday gathering and then go to dinner.  Teh German hadn't eaten enough snacks, so he was a bit hangry, but he survived Sam's and then we headed to Sesame for dinner.

Shenanigans at Sam's...

I had eaten leftovers before my math exam so I didn't get the hunger stupids, so I had an adult milkshake and a fry.

We asked for our check and a manager came to our table to explain that we were part of a pay it forward chain.  What this meant was that someone else had covered our bill.  We wanted to keep it going, so we selected a table to pay for.  They wanted to keep it going but it was almost closing time and there wasn't anyone else in the restaurant for them to pay for.  Faith in humanity restored a little more.

Park Circle Christmas Tree

When we got home, I went to bed.  Teh German stayed up and I have no recollection of him even coming to bed, but Pax did give me a rude awakening around 3:30 (actually, it wasn't Pax that woke me, but Teh German jerking awake, which woke me) puking up chunks of the cheese stick he'd been chewing on earlier.  I considered just leaving until later to clean up, but got up and let the beasts out and cleaned it up.

SATURDAY

I got to sleep for another hour after cleaning up Pax's mess.  My alarm was set for 0430 so I could make it to Kiawah Island for my half marathon.  It took me an hour to get there, but it was recommended runners arrive by 0630 to make sure that they were able to get a shuttle and be at the start line on time since the race started at 0800 on the dot.

In a stroke of genius, I had grabbed a dog blanket to wrap myself in while I waited for the race to start.  Since it was under 40°F and had been raining for the prior 36 hours, it was totally worth it and several people commented that it was a great idea (as they stood there shivering).  When the shuttle dropped us off at the start area, they had opened up the club house and runners were sitting a meeting space on the floor.  They were sitting.  I took the opportunity to take a nap.  I knew I was super tired since I was able to sleep with noise and goings on around me.  This is usually not the case.  I woke up once when a lady started leading stretches around 0700 and I went back to sleep and when I woke up, the room was mostly empty.  It was about 10 minutes until start time.  I don't know what woke me up, but I'm glad.  I kinda hope that someone would have woken me up if I hadn't woke up on my own right on time.  I folded up the dog blanket that I had gotten to use as a pillow instead of a blanket and left it in a corner.  I figured if I came back by I could pick it up, if not, then it was ok to donate since I had gotten it from a thrift store to begin with.

I made a new friend at the start line when I struck up a conversation with her because she was wearing a Run Disney shirt.  We even exchanged phone numbers!  It made the first 6 miles soo much better.  Unfortunately, my (formerly) super awesome earbuds turned themselves off (since I hadn't used them since I was chatting with Friend) and I couldn't get them to turn back on (because they don't turn on unless they have been on the charger if they have been turned off).  It's complicated.  Anyways, the last 7 miles, I spent striking up conversations with strangers and enjoying the run without my earbuds in (which makes it much easier to interact with those runners around you).  I was sad because it was hours I could have devoted to my audiobook, but glad because it really made the run better.

Eventually, I came upon the finish line.  I grabbed a bowl of soup and some water.  I scarfed down my soup and passed off my beer ticket to an unassuming large bearded dude who was waiting in the beer line since I knew I wasn't going to be using it.  Then, I headed towards the shuttle.  I had no idea where I was, so I opted to leave the blanket behind.

I hadn't parked in the designated parking area because I hadn't wanted to wait in traffic, and I was never more glad.  It ended up being a mud pit as it got warmer (by like 5°) and there were several tow trucks circling the parking lot having to pull people out of the mud.  I headed towards home.  I stopped at McDonald's for a sweet tea and cheeseburger and then headed home.  I greeted my homies and then headed upstairs for a shower, a stretch/roll session, and a nap.

#DatMedalTho....
Seriously, that medal is the only thing that got me out of bed at before the asscrack of dawn in the cold, wet, morning...

I slept for a few hours (as is customary after any run longer than a 5k) and unwillingly rolled out of the bed.  I still had some cleaning to do before the party... which mostly didn't happen.  I vacuumed up some gross areas on the floor and Teh German and I moved the couches around to open up the room a bit, but otherwise, I said fuck it.  Oh yeah, and I wiped off the counters and put vinyl table cloths on the table and island.  I think Teh German might have wiped down the bathroom, but I don't really know.  I used some logic and decided that people were coming and the floor was just going to get gross and the toilet was going to get used, so why bother cleaning it?  SO I didn't.  #notsorry.

Pax and I spooned for the first time ever!
Be still my heart!

While I had been napping, Teh German had decorated the front of the house with lights.  I considered this festive enough based on all the activity I'd endured for the prior 36 hours.  I started laying out food around 6.  By 7, we were ready.  I was actually upstairs changing into my holiday finest when our first guests arrived, Teh PT Fam.

Neighbor Besties!

Please check out Teh German's blue ball...
#Mine

I was pleased with how the party went.  We ate and drank and there was merriment.  The dogs got to have a sleep over at Teh Dental Hygienist's house so there were no possibilities of escape.  The white elephant exchange gave me a valid reason to use my megaphone in the house (the megaphone I received at the prior year's neighborhood white elephant exchange).  I actually ended up getting Teh PT Wife's gift, which was extra funny since I was with her when she bought it.  There was a few rounds of Cards Against Humanity played, but by that point, we were all pretty intoxicated and focus levels were low.

I also had set up the photobooth as an extra shenanigans thing.  I was pissed to discover my super expensive tripod got fucked up at the wedding, but let's focus on the positive, shall we?

SUNDAY

It was after 0100 when Teh German and I finally went to sleep.  We slept until about 0930, at which point Teh German started sighing incessantly (a sure sign of hangover).  I was fine other than a mild headache, so I administered some ibuprofen to myself and Teh German and encouraged him to eat.

He didn't even finish a bowl of cereal before he went and laid down on the couch and promptly went back to sleep.  I wasn't tired and I have a very annoying manner post-drunkenness.  Specifically, a crazy amount of energy to do all the things.  I channeled that.  I picked up the dogs and we went on a walk (mostly for me to stretch my post-run stiffness out), then I came home and made a menu for the week and a store list.  I finally unrolled the puzzle I had brought home with me from MD that Teh Running Bestie and I had started, but still wanted to accomplish some things.  I decided to accomplish going to the store.  I left Teh German a note before I left, but when I got home, he was in the same place I had left him in - still asleep on the couch.

My first stop was coffee, because why not?  Then I headed to Lidl (which is Aldi competition) to check it out since it just opened in our town.  It was still unbearably crowded, but I survived.  Then I headed to Walmart to pick up the few items that I hadn't found at Lidl.  It was as horrible as you'd imagine, but I survived.  The best part of the trip was when I got home and got to use my new super power carabiner hooks I got from the Dollar Tree so I don't have to make a million trips to the car to empty it.

Cup holders on buggies should be a requirement everywhere.

#UnFuckingStoppable
They even have padding.
AND THEY WERE $!

Teh German woke up after I got home and said he felt better (surprise).  I put everything away and we snacked on leftovers from the party.  Another neighbor was having a drop-in party on Sunday, so we headed over to that for a little bit around 3.  We left since I had to study for my German exam, which I did when we got home.  After an hour or so, I finished up my studying and Teh German and I rearranged the living room.  To my surprise, Teh German had liked how we had set up the living room for the party and wanted to keep it like that.  We did some reorganizing, but now we have a new setup and I think I like it.. except for the part that we now have our own couches to watch TV on.  Not that we really snuggle while watching TV anyways, but principle.

The new living room set up.

After watching a few episodes of Mad Men, it was bedtime.

Sometimes, I am amazed at how much I can pack into a weekend.  This weekend was a doozy.  In fact, when Teh German called me an idiot for planning on running a half marathon in the rain and cold on Saturday morning, I agreed with him.  It wasn't raining on the island though and I was grateful.  Essentially, it worked out in the end, as it always does.  PS.  My medal is fucking awesome and Teh Running Bestie and I have already signed up for the Kiawah Half next December.  1- It was only $41, 2- You can wait inside before the race and not freeze your ass off.  3- The course is flat.  4- DAT MEDAL THO!  5- The sweet ass shirt every year.

Oh yeah, the important part?  My bad hip didn't/doesn't hurt.  My "good" hip (the non-surgery-ied hip) was a bit achy, as was my toe, but I have been making sure to stretch, stretch, stretch and I have rolled every day since the run.  I also hit up the Chiro today for a much needed popping session.    Also, I'm planning a massage to celebrate the end of the semester after my last exam on Wednesday.  #NOTFUCKINGSORRY #TreatYoSelf

I'm moderately embarrassed that I haven't even linked up for the SUYB in months.  That's definitely reflective on the state of my life.  I've got a skeleton draft in the works, but we'll see if it happens or not.  There should be a Shit Teh German Said in the near future.  Tonight we are going out for a birthday dinner.  I have my chem exam on Wednesday and that evening we have the Yelp holiday event, which is always a blast.  Friday evening is both of our company holiday parties.. We're going to Teh German's first and if Company party is still going, then we will meet up with them.  Since Company didn't put out the deets until a week and a half ago and Timo's company put out their details in Oct, it was first come first served on the calendar.  Saturday I have a volunteer event to do wreath laying at a cemetery.  I've always wanted to do the one in Arlington, but this will have to do.

Another goal I've set for myself in the very near future is to go through our wedding pictures and select the ones we like the most for printing and for getting made into photo books.  I can do it!

PS.  Christmas is exactly 2 weeks away!
PPS.  I know what Teh German got me for Christmas and I may have found it when I was cleaning on Thursday.  This isn't a bad thing since I picked out what I wanted him to get me and I was sitting there when he bought it.
