Five on Friday #144

EINS - Random things

-Teh Advising Sister will be here later!  Woot!

-My cleaners don't know it yet, but yesterday was the last day they will be cleaning Teh Ville.  After a continued shitty job and then they didn't show up several times, I'm over it.  After my check gets cashed, I'm sending out the draft text on my phone.  Why is it so hard to find good help?!?  #FirstWorldProblems

-I applied to take a class at College of Charleston over the summer.  I called 2x and I have judged the lady I spoke with at their Registrar's office to be a twatwaffle.  The first call, she transferred me to someone who didn't answer and I left a message and never received a call back.  The next day, I called back.  Rather than explaining to me what to do, she essentially said go apply on the website.  Uhhhh, generally a non-degree seeking student doesn't go through the same steps as a degree-seeking student.  Before I said something nasty to her for her shitty shittiness, I got off the phone and, of course, figured out myself.  The process is, in fact, NOT the same.  Imagine that.  #IHateEveryone

-Conversation with Teh German regarding him picking up the Walmart and Sam's orders that I had placed:
Teh German (tG): Is the order under MaidenName or MarriedName?
Teh Megan (tM): MaidenName MarriedName ❔(insert IDK lady emoji)
tG: Well, I guess I have to gamble.  That'd be a suggestion for next time. 😉😛
tM: It automatically is whatever is on the account and it's hard to remember what has and hasn't been changed.  Let me know how it is when you get married and change your name. 😀  Additionally, I think Sam's wouldn't let me change it, but my online account is correct?  IDK.  It's only 2 options.
tG: I'm not planning on getting married again or changing my name.  But I'll figure it out when picking it up.
tM: Thanks, you da best.

TL;DR: Changing your name is stupid and antiquated and confusing and we should really just stop doing that shit... like daylight savings time.  Also, when Husband tries to bitch about not knowing which of TWO names something could be listed under, I get stabby.

-I had to laugh at the neighbor who posted their "brushed nickel chandelier" on our neighborhood FB page to sell.  No one bothered to tell her that most of us have that same chandelier, so we already purchased it...

-Speaking of our neighborhood FB page, I'm finally an admin, after having expressed interest in assisting with the page before we even moved in the neighborhood.  Also, our neighborhood HOA meeting was last night and that's always a shit show.  Last night was exactly as expected.  To keep myself quiet, I played games on my phone.  I FINALLY beat Plague Inc, and now I'm working on a virus bringing down the world.

-PS.  I don't pay for games, but I paid $1 for this as an extra credit for my Bio class and it was actually worth it.  I also spend a lot of time playing the Microsoft Solitaire Suite.  They have a daily challenge and well.. I do love a good challenge...
PPS.  The suite includes FreeCell, actual Solitaire, Pyramids, Spider Solitaire, and Tripeaks.  If none of those are familiar to you, check it out.  I actually really enjoy all of the games.
PPPS. The Microsoft Suite is free.99.  #FreeShitFTW

-I find instrumental versions of pop songs incredibly satisfying.
-I find the YouTube app to be incredibly unsatisfying.  Mostly the part where I turn off my screen and the music stops playing.

-April is Adopt a Greyhound Month (not that I celebrate these things), but if you dig these things.. and you want to change your FB cover photo to celebrate, here's your official GEGR (Pax and Phil's rescue group) hookup.

-Have I mentioned recently that I'm an asshole?  Yeah, well.  It bears repeating.  I'm an asshole.
Teh German was home on Tuesday afternoon (which I knew because Spotify showed me in my Friend Activity that he was playing music, which is normal behavior for when I'm not home) and I decided to fuck with him, because LOVE an MARRIED.

So what had happened was..... From my Spotify at work, I "connected to a device"... specifically, I connected to the Echo Spot in the kitchen (making the assumption that's where he was since he usually listens to Spotify through the receiver downstairs).  Then I started playing music.  In the length of time it takes to say, "Alexa cancel," the music stopped.  Repeat x2.  I knew that Teh German was probably like, WTF WHY IS ALEXA POSSESSED?!?!  So I called him and asked him why he didn't like the music I was playing for him.  At which point he understood that I was fucking with him.

He only has himself to blame.  He is the advocate for our Super Smart House and I just like to use it to my advantage... i.e. expressing my love.

TL;DR: Accurately convey your love by annoying the shit out of your spouse when you are not home with the magical powers of your smart home.

-Calculus update: While my degree evaluation does NOT show that I am required to take Calc 2, my advisor says it's a glitch and he'll get it fixed.  I told him that wasn't necessary.

-There was almost a 20°F difference in the temps from Tuesday to Wednesday.  NO BUENO.

-These beasts... /swoon

She's solar powered.
I'm 63% certain.
Lawd, that yard.  /shame
Note: We're going to cover the backyard in wood chips and all our backyard problems will be solved.

This Goof makes me smile.

Oh, hai, Mahm. ~Pax

ZWEI - Money spent

  • Car wash subscription
  • Groceries
  • Gas
  • Honeymoon flight from Cairns to Sydney.
  • Girl Power Popsocket
  • Hairs Did
  • Disgruntled Decks Navy Version for Teh Chief Smartass.
    • Let's just call it an early retirement gift.

DREI - Things from my phone

I want a want to clean the coffee maker because I find this almost as disgusting as tape worms.
I inadvertently cleaned it when I made laundry detergent.

IDK wtf is up with my finger, but it happens when I wear my engagement ring on that hand.

The hand is blocking the gold glitter shoes that this Boss was wearing.

When your computer gets confused about what your first language is...
PS. English is set as my default language in MS and on my computer.
No idea why Office was drunk.

Sweet tea and baby McFlurry = solutions to problems.
Also, I made those goodies last for 2 days.  #LikeaBoss

Walmart Grocery was giving out a bag of goodies with orders and this was in the bag!
I was so unbearably pumped about 50% of it.
There is NO BETTER flavor of Capri sun than the Pacific Cooler.  If you say different, that's fightin' words.
Also, peaches!  FUCK YES THANK YOU.
Teh German uses spray deoderant, so guess who isn't running out anytime soon?!
And finally, heat and eat rice?  Game on.

PS.  This was my dinner plate.  Not breakfast.
Also, check out that perfectly cooked pancake.
I DID THAT.  /bow

It's Jamaican hairstyle day at work tomorrow.
I'm dreading it.

The absolute worst grade I've gotten in German class since I started: 9.5/20.
This is what happens when you forget you have a test/quiz.  Oops.

I look over and there is a 12 year old driving this brand new Camero.
And then I notice the Seniors 2017 sticker on the back and I just SMDH (that would be shake my damn head).

I've seen this person soooo many times over the last few weeks.
They seem to be at/near places that I am going to.

Sheep brain dissection in Bio Lab.
I found the bag of brains highly amusing.
Like, probably more than I should have.

Someone explain the appeal of this "decoration" because I

These snaps from a friend had me DYYYYINNNNNGGG!

If this isn't 100% accurate about my current feelings, IDK what is.

VIER - Things from the Internet

Things that make Americans weird.

Shameful is not how you should feel.

I will never NOT love this post.  With or without the Jesus themes.  It is always relevant.

Mumford & Sons covered a song on this random album and it popped up as a suggested song (YES, DUH, THANK YOU PLEASE).

FÜNF - Things that made me happy this week

  1. Figuring out my code on my own, even if I had to have help testing it.
  2. Coworkers who are willing to look at my code and help me troubleshoot.
  3. Riding Bagheera.
  4. Unlocking the Virus level of Plague, Inc.
  5. ONE MORE MONTH of my "freshman"semester.  PS. I'm actually considered a senior.
  6. Being able to Life and School and Work at the same time without having meltdowns.  As in, my homework is manageable and I still have time to socialize or sit with Teh German and watch Vikings.
  7. A nap before the HOA meeting.
  8. Visitors!
  9. Randomly gifting things to people.
  10. Getting to use my rainbow umbrella, thus validating me carrying it around in my backpack 100% of the time.

Happy Friday, Gentle Readers.

3 Things.. in general.

Apparently, doing things in 3s in my jam. For instance, the Things That Make My Life Easier posts? There were 3 of 'em. And again with the 3 theme. I stole this from the interwebs, another blogger, somewhere, somewhen.

Three foods I hate and refuse to eat

  1. Spicy foods (like if you add too much table pepper, I won't eat it)
  2. Oysters
  3. Chitlins (just no)

Three foods I love and eat more of than I should

  2. Candy.  I have seasonal candy stashed at work and at home.
  3. Sweet tea.  Ok, this isn't a food, but it's a well known fact among people that go out with me, I will drink several cups of sweet tea during a meal and then ask for a to-go tea to drink the next day...

Three things chores I avoid until absolutely necessary

  1. Cleaning the floor
  2. Cleaning toilets
  3. Scooping poop.

Three chores I always do*

  1. Laundry
  2. Shopping for groceries/house things
  3. Meal plan
*I primarily do these duties, but Teh German does assist fairly regularly.

Three wardrobe staples

  1. Hoodies.
  2. Fleece lined leggings (especially in demand during the winter for running)
  3. Over sized long sleeve shirts for sleeping in.

Three things I don’t spend money on

  1. Most name brand foods
  2. Bottled water
  3. Shipping

Three things I do spend money on

  1. Things that are in use every day.  Examples: sheets, mattress, quality shampoo/conditioner, shoes...
  2. Monthly car wash membership
  3. Treats for the dogs

Three TV shows I frequently watch in reruns

None.  I don't watch TV.  We do watch Netflix, but we only watch one series at a time.

Three genres I generally don’t read

  1. Horror
  2. Nonfiction
  3. Textbooks  (I feel like going to class should be sufficient)

Three things I’m looking forward to this year

  2. Germany in December
  3. How awesome Teh Ville will continue to be.

Weekend Review {3/26}

No class for Leadership Day meant that I went to work like a normal adult.  I finally have tasking, which is delightful.  I worked on my things and then left at 2 to get my hairs did.

Since she didn't have time for a color when I got it cut a few weeks ago, I scheduled an appointment for Friday.  I showed her my Pinterest board and we agreed on colors after she commented, "You're all over the place."

Well, yes.  Regarding color.  Not about the style of coloring I wanted.  This is important later.

My board almost all ombre styles with a "natural" color at the roots to about halfway down and then the color starts.

Party started.

Final results.

It took me about 24 hours to realize that what I had come home with was NOT exactly what I wanted.  Granted, I like the color, but there is no ombre.  It is just burgundy/red/magenta/whatever you want to call this color.  She put a darker color at the roots, but I think she missed the part where it was supposed to go to about halfway down before the crazy red started.  It's complicated and I'm having a hard time telling myself that I should go back and be like... How did we go from what I showed you on my pinterest board to THIS (i.e. my head)?  I know I should go tell her.. but it's not overly worth it for me to complain about it and it's not that bad (which shouldn't be something I'm saying about a service I paid for (we won't talk about exactly how much it was, mmkay?)).  Additionally, I don't want to pay to have it fixed.  While I really get along well with my hair dresser, I'm about to be in the market for another if this is the trend.

The first thing I told Liz when I sat down was that I didn't like how short she had made the layers in my hair during the cut 2 weeks ago.  But the thing about hair is that once you cut it, you have to let it grow back and there's nothing you can do about it.  Technically, this color is strike 3 since the first color I had her do was completely unnoticeable (EVEN TO HER).  IDK.  This is why I have hair dresser trust issues.  Someone people give me good advice because I don't not like it, but I don't love it and well.. I'm moderately non-confrontational about shit like this because it's just hair and it will grow back, but how does it go from 95% of the pictures on my pinterest board to a full crazy red color?  We are obviously having some miscommunication issues.

A mabillionty hours later, I made it home about 30 seconds after Teh German had arrived home.  Teh German said he liked the color and I couldn't tell if he was being nice or not, but I accepted the compliment (knowing how much I paid helped accept the compliment).  I had seen Teh AF Maintainer (ret.) walking his dogs on my way home and asked if he wanted to go to dinner with us.  He accepted and I told him we'd figure out a place and let him know.

We ended up going to The Workshop, which is like a food court.  We all ended up eating at the mexican place and it was good, except that my food was too spicy for me.. so that was fun.

Did get to see these sexy pants....

Dat velour assssss and dem mules.

I'm just not hipster enough for today's youth.  In fact, it was a big deal on Saturday when I wore jeans out instead of gym pants after threatening Teh German that I was, in fact, planning to wear my gym pants out.  It's complicated.

After we got home from dinner, we came home to a slaying.

Poor Lamp Chop.  She recently underwent surgery and she's already back in the laundry room awaiting Dr. Teh Megan to repair her brains.  We weren't home for long before we headed over to Teh PT House to hang out for a bit.  Husbands smoked cigars while Wives puzzled.

Eventually, we headed home and it was bedtime.

Saturday I intended on going to The Citadel to watch all the fun celebration things, but ended up staying in bed until 11.  I saw an email from Victoria's Secret (VS) about my bras being $25 and underwear being 10/$35 and I knew what I needed to do.  I also had planned on accomplishing the grocery shopping... like physically going into the store, which was serious.  Teh German needed to go by the dive shop to take a picture for and get his open water card.  I asked if he wanted to come with me to VS and for grocery shopping and he said yes.  And as I was completely ready to go, he was getting in the shower....

My approximate reaction.

I went downstairs to eat to stave off hangar and went back upstairs.  There was no expeditiousness in Teh German's attitude.  Teh German Time had struck.  FML.  Since I knew Teh German needed to eat, I went ahead and jumped in the shower (which I had bypassed since I was trying to get to VS before all the good undies were purchased).  I yelled to Teh German when I got out of the shower that when I got downstairs, he better be ready to leave.

Can we talk about how incredibly frustrating it is when someone who is always rushing you because STUFF AND THINGS DAMMIT.. and then when YOU are trying to get somewhere, they're like "Dooot-de-doooo.. I got all day."  And then.. they have the nerve to say, "What's the rush?!"

UNDERWEAR!  10/$35 IS THE DAMN RUSH.  And you realize how ridiculous that sounds, but you'd have already been there by now if you'd hadn't been nice and invited Husband along to the panty party... /facepalm.

Anyways.. we finally got there and there was a very limited selection of prints in my style (bikini, thanks for asking) and then limit it to my size and well, I ended up with some uglies.  Whatever.  I also picked up a front-closing bra!!  I Snapped about it, because I almost lost my mind when I saw it.  I actually tried it on and everything.  We'll see how it works out.  I bought one because Lawd knows I miss my front clasp bra from my teenage years.  I won't get started on back closures on bras, but I am still baffled about WHY women's clothes aren't designed to be functional in any regard (i.e. back clasps and no fucking pockets).

Some lady had her dog in the store and that was kinda cool.
Super adorable, well behaved, 8 month old Pit.

After VS, we headed to the dive shop for Teh German.  He got his stuff taken care of and discussed his advanced dives with a divemaster because I've been harassing him about it (because I will leave his ass on the shore, #notsorry, if he doesn't have his proper dive quals).

#SunroofHairs #dontcurr

We were headed to the grocery store and I told Teh German that we could go to the store on Sunday since it was supposed to rain.  It was a gorgeous day on Saturday and Teh German had wanted to ride.  He accepted this and we headed home.  He worked on Bob and "synced the carbs" whatever the fuck that means, and then came inside and seemed completely unmotivated.  I asked if he wanted to ride and he was indecisive.

Finally, he said he'd rather be lazy.  So we made dinner and had planned to watch some Vikings.  30 seconds after we had finished eating dinner, Teh SC German texted Teh German asking if we wanted to meet at Red's.  Teh German was being wishy-washy about it, but I finally pushed him over the edge when I told him we could ride the bikes, which would limit his drinking.  He was confused at first and then I explained that if we drove a vehicle, he'd drink a lot of beer and we'd be out super late and he'd feel like garbage the next morning.. and he agreed to go and ride the bikes.

We left about 15 minutes later.  The man can't get out of the house when I'm in a hurry though.  Just imagine an extremely "not impressed" face, because that was my reaction.  Did I say anything?  No.  Because #GoodWife.  We made it to Red's without incident.  Teh SC Teacher and Teh SC German were already there and we waited on 2 others to join us.  Since we had already eaten dinner, I had a dessert (which was disappointing) and a beverage.  Teh German had a beer and some coconut skrimpies (known to normal people as: shrimp).

After everyone was done eating, they wanted to head out to the bar, but we tapped out and headed home.  Since we were on the bikes, we knew we didn't want to do any more drinking and it was also dark out and we wanted to get home before the drunks decided to start driving themselves home.

When we got home, we put on stretchy pants and landed on the couch for some Vikings and, for me, homework.

Sunday, I took dog duty and got up to feed the dogs.  I briefly considered going on a run and it was raining, so I passed.  Instead, I stayed up and worked on homework.  Teh German eventually came downstairs.  I did have good intentions of going to the store, but it was 11:30 and Teh Builder texted and said she would deliver the guest room dresser since I was concerned it wouldn't fit in the back of Yurtle and I didn't want to put it in the back of the truck while it was raining.  Her ETA was 1pm.  Kinda when I needed to be at the store.

While I waited on her, I burned some time.  I was made an administrator on our neighborhood Facebook page, so I did some housecleaning for the group and then decided to get off the computer.  Teh German had started working on immigration paperwork and I asked if he was busy and he said yes, sooooo I went upstairs and moved the dresser from the Guest Room to First Child Room by myself (#GirlPower) to make room for the incoming dresser.  I also swapped out curtains in First Child Room and put the old First Child Room curtains downstairs in the dining room, which was an adventure because I'm short.  I reminded myself that if I was single, I'd be doing all these things myself anyways, so it was a nice reminder that I can still do all these things all by myself.

I didn't have time to shower by that point, but Teh Builder arrived soon after.  She got to experience Teh German and I at our worst (i.e. working together to carry anything up the stairs + Teh German was already moody because he was doing paperwork which just so happened to be immigration paperwork, which I cannot help with (because it actually makes ZERO sense to me but not because I'm unwilling, and it makes me understand why immigration is so complicated and fucked up)) and she ended up having to help Teh German get the dresser the rest of the way upstairs.

I had been worried the dresser was going to be too long and we'd have to rearrange the furniture, but the size was perfect for the area.  NBD, #LikeABoss.

I want to make some map themed knobs for it, but in the meantime, Teh Builder found some brushed chrome knobs for it.  I lurve it.  The grey is a metallic, distressed color and the blue is also slightly distressed.  When I first came up with this idea, it sounded sketchy to a few people, but everyone loves the way it turned out.  This is a common theme in my life, which makes me happy.

After Teh Builder headed out, I ordered the groceries online because #LazyAF.

After ordering the groceries, Teh German informed me that if I was going to shower, I should go do that... sooooo I went upstairs and showered.
Me to Teh Running Bestie and Teh Sister:
Murder, hair dye, or both?
We'll never know.

and then no one responded for like a millionty years (30 minutes) and I had to explain that they were witnessing genius.

We were car pooling with Teh PT Husband and Wife at 3:30 for Teh Dental Hygienist's surprise birthday dinner at California Dreaming.  I was out of the shower by 3:03.  I watched the minutes tick by and it was after 3:15 when Teh German finally came upstairs and started getting ready.  Teh German Time was reallllllllll this weekend, Gentle Readers.  I was completely ready by 3:23 and I was standing around in the kitchen just waiting on Teh German to come down.

I used the spare time to be ready to walk out the door.  I muzzled Pax and told Alexa to play music for the them.  All Teh German had to do was grab his wallet and put on shoes once he got downstairs.  I purposely was standing around waiting on him, not starting to do anything because I knew if I drug my feet just a little bit, I'd have to hear it.

Teh German had been in a pissy mood all day and he was trying to rush me out the door and I finally said, "Stop, come here."  He was irritated (as expected) and I finally asked, "What is your problem?"  He said he was frustrated from the paperwork.  I then gently reminded him, "Then, I am NOT your problem."  He responded, "I know."  I said, "Taking out your frustration on me is not ok just because he's frustrated at something else."  He acknowledged me and we headed out the door where our PT Taxi was waiting in the driveway.

Teh German was super quiet for the entire evening.  We definitely surprised Teh Dental Hygienist.  It was awesome.  Our service wasn't actually that great, but the food was delicious, as expected.

Teh Neighbor Besties!

When we got home, I agreed to some Vikings while I attempted some Photoshop homework.  Double exposure editing is kicking my ass and I hate it.  I want to do cool things, but it's just not for me.  I'm about to just download some stock images and do exactly like what was in the video instead of trying to do the project with my own photos, since I know that using my own photos isn't going to get me any extra points.

After several episodes, it was finally bedtime.  I got very little homework accomplished.  Of course.

Overall, a decent weekend.  Teh German was pretty moody, so that put a damper on things, but we had fun socializing, so that was positive.  Sometimes, life has to be just meh so other times can be HELLA AWESOMEEE!

This week includes:
-Another sex ed bio lab.  /wrist
-Teh Advising Sister arrives on Friday and we're gonna do things!  Like go downtown so she can peruse the "merchandise" and have brunch and go to an adult toy party.  Seriously, be jelly.
-Laundry.  The Laundry Fairy had such a good run of staying on top of the laundry and then she just petered out.  Makes since because the Dishes Gnome went on strike this weekend.  The Gnome finally reappeared Sunday evening (Thank God because all the dishes in the sink was almost unbearable for me).  The Laundry Fairy made a fly by last night and sorted the laundry and started a load, but didn't make more of a commitment than that.  She might get that shit done this week.  We'll see.
-Hopefully the cleaning crew came today.  If they didn't, they are probably fired.  I'm over this shit.
-I will finish Year of Yes and hopefully stop spontaneously crying every time Shonda talks about Cristina's last episode.  There was a chapter pretty much dedicated to Cristina and when Shonda repeats Cristina's last lines, there were tears.  YALL, I WAS CRYING AT WORK.  Cristina is everything I want to be but in real life and sans the tequila.  I tear up anytime I hear the version of "Where Does the Good Go?" from that episode.  Judge me.  #DontCurr.

And he dies in the next season.

Happy end of March, Gentle Readers!

Five on Friday #143

EINS - Random things

-I haven't cleared out my Feedly in approximately 1 mabillionty days.  I have a feeling the time is coming.  PREPARE YOURSELVES FOR COMMENTS (if I follow you).

-The cleaner came the Monday before Teh Running Bestie came to town and I was pleased that most of our shit was still in the "correct" place.. untillllll I noticed that soooooooooo many things weren't actually cleaned.  AND THEN I noticed that there was orange mold growing in my sink and my shower which means that they haven't been being properly cleaned because that shit doesn't grow that quickly when it's not a mabillionty degrees outside.  Sooo, I'm going to have a chat with my cleaners and it's essentially me putting them on notice because I don't like paying for shit that I don't get.

-It's Cadet Weekend or something at The Citadel and I'm planning on coming to campus on a weekend, while lots of other people are here, to attend an event.  I'm actually kind of excited about it.  I wasn't really active in campus activities when I was at NCSU and part of me is ok with that and part of me feels like I really missed out.  So, I'm going to try this out.  If it's too peopley, I'll leave.  I'm most excited to see the parade from campus to Marion Square and possibly check out the barracks since non-cadets are not allowed in the barracks.

-Leadership Day is today and there is no class and I am so glad.  Having a short week after coming back from Spring Break is never a bad thing.  Additionally, I feel like a bag of ass today, so I'm just not in the mood for... life.

-I'm getting my hairs did this afternoon.  I'm thinking I'm going to do something crazy.  Especially since the last time we dyed my hair, it wasn't really obvious.  I ain't paying money for people NOT to notice.  And by people I mean me.  I didn't even notice.  #Fail

-Meri has been extra adorable recently in "her" $500 "dog bed".  She likes to peer up over the edge of the chair while she's laying in it and it just melts my wine-chilling heart.  PS.  The chair is turned backwards (it swivels and it's on wheels, so it's not difficult) so Meri and Pax can't play on it.  They are just too rough for my brain to handle that.

-Every morning and afternoon (and probably all day), Meri and Pax play.  It's not uncommon for there to be barking and yipping and growling.  It's when it's quiet in the house that I get nervous.  This is why being a DogMom is also being a Mom.  I'd say I have the benefit that my kids don't talk back, but they doooo, oh they dooo.  PAXIMUS.

-I made a few more reservations to make for our honeymoon!  I need to figure out a place to stay in San Fransisco and where to stay in Sydney and we're completely set.   I am also debating travel insurance because we've shelled out so much for this trip and because the dive adventure we're going on suggests having dive/trip insurance.  Mostly, I need to check and see that my insurance covers scuba diving accidents and I can just focus on trip insurance.  I hate being adulty.

-I'm listening to Year of Yes by Shonda Rhimes (Grey's Anatomy) and I lurve it.  More than I should.  I'm pretty sure Shonda and I are spirit animals, except that sometimes she gets more excessively wordy than I would.  But we think so similar AND she calls readers of her book GENTLE READERS!!!!!!!  Glad I started using that before 2015 when she wrote her book!

-When you and your bestie are #twinning and you didn't plan it!

-I ran the i5k yesterday and it was... ok.  It was a good run and there's beer and pizza at the end (although I'm not interested in the beer and the pizza was from a place that I don't think is all that great) and people dress up in costumes and it's just fun.  Except that it is mostly groups from sponsoring tech companies so if you aren't affiliated with a large group, you kinda feel like an outsider (me).  Nonetheless, I got a medal for it, which I hadn't known we would get.  I pulled out superhero Stitch for a run with a group of nerds and apparently, I was just a weirdo with a bra on my head (granted, this isn't untrue).  A photographer did single me out for a photo, so I'm hoping it shows up on the internet eventually.

-Dear Evanescence,
We get it.  You put out some good songs in 2003.  Congrats.  Making new versions of those same songs is lazy.  #JustSayin.
~A (former) fan

-I may be taking an unnecessary calculus class because the degree requirements for Computer Science changed and MY ADVISOR DIDN'T FUCKING TELL ME LAST SEMESTER.

ZWEI - Money spent

  • GEGR picnic reservation
  • Power bill + rejected card fee (grumble grumble grumble)
  • Various bills (cell phone, sewer)
  • A whole bunch of shit from Amazon (retail therapy is real)
    • New shirts, since I gave some of the ones I ordered to Teh Running Bestie and I returned a few items, as I said I would.
    • Replaced most of my Superhero Stitch outfit since I had slowly donated stuff (#PoorLifeChoices)
    • And some shit for Teh PT Wife, which she purchased using my card by accident and paid me back.  We're blaming her meds.
  • Cleaners
  • Cookout milkshakes
  • New SC license which is REAL ID compliant (because I live in a state that probably still considers succession from the Union)
  • New Stingrays hoodie for Teh German (a solid impulse buy since he already commented on how comfy it is, #BestWifeEver)

DREI - Things from my phone

At least Meri's bad haircut didn't have to go out in public.
I definitely told this guy he needed to get his shit straightened out.

Company had a happy hour event on Monday and Teh German came by and I thought he'd want to play darts, but he wasn't into it.  Since they had already put him/us on the board, I fixed our scores.

I see a Monkey-Doodle!

Carrot cake cupcakes from Roux's Humom didn't hurt my feelins' none.
Additionally, it served as our "vegetable" for dinner and dessert.

Wore my new woot shirt.
Asked Teh German to take a picture.
He made sure to get the worst picture possible.
He was proud that it looked like I was holding my boobs.

What did the tree say to spring?
What a re-leaf.

VIER - Things from the Internet

-Sometimes, to feel less lost, you just need to know you're included and important, even if you aren't sure why.

You HAVE to put on your oxygen mask before you can help anyone else put on their oxygen mask.  It's science.

If you can't quit social media (don't worry, me either), you can maybe implement some of these things to be less influenced by social media.  As an ad-hider, I get it.  I still hope that Facebook thinks I'm interested in nothing at all...

Me on Thursday morning listening to my audiobook.

I've always been like this.

Things You Weren't Wondering

I stole this from Brianne.

What would a mirror opposite of yourself be like?

Tall, quiet, super serious about everything..
Essentially, I'd be the me 25 year old Megan thought I was going to be at this age.
So glad that didn't pan out.

Which of your scars has the best story behind it?

The one on my forehead just inside my hairline... from where our Brazilian exchange student that we hosted when I was in the 6th grade hit me in the head with a rake while he was doing Judo moves because he thought I wouldn't step up and I was fearless, so I did.

It hurt, so I put my hand to my head and ran away.  At which point Doug started chasing me up the yard and I screamed at him to quit chasing me and he was yelling at me to stop.  Almost as I got back to the house, I saw a parent (I think Teh Mom) standing at the corner of the house, having just ran outside because she could hear the commotion.  At this point, Doug caught up to me, pulled my hand away from my face and showed me that I was bleeding.. profusely.  At which point, the parent, which it had definitely been Teh Mom, went into emergency mode and was like, TO THE ER YOU GO!  While Teh Dad was like, she'll be fine.  (My parents have always been complete opposites about what warrants a doctor visit).  Teh Mom was insistent because she knew I'd end up with a huge scar if I didn't have it stitched up.

Teh Dad ended up taking me to the emergency room and I got to get 2 stitches in my head with a fish hook (ok, that's not really what it's called, but that's what it looked like) and I got booties for my shoes (which I thought were super cool) and a large bowl to "flush" the wound with (which we kept for years and years because it was a great bowl for soaking laundry) and I got my first wheelchair ride because they wouldn't let me walk to the car.

Teh Dad did win the argument about going back to the doctor to have the stitches taken out.  He ended up cutting them out himself.

The worst part about the whole thing was that they had to cut the hair near the area and it was short for so long and would always get in my eyes/face.  Ugh.  But now I have a super cool scar.  It's almost like Harry Potter's lightning bolt.

What's the title of the current chapter in your life?

Can I Decide Another Day: What am I Forgetting?

What's the hardest lesson you've learned?

When to keep my mouth shut.  Often, if I hadn't said anything at all, things would have resolved themselves much quicker and with better results.

What mistake do you keep making over and over?

Coming home with the belief that Pax and Meri have been good and nothing has been eaten/destroyed.

What do people think is weird about you?

When people look at you, what do you think they see/think?

Strong, independent woman.

What have you created that you are most proud of?

 Teh Ville.
