Five on Friday #24

UNO

I had this draft started for last Friday and then failed at blogging.  I feel like I've been blog failing for a while now, but I know I'm my worst critic.  One of the bloggers I read was talking about how during the summer she kinda falls off the blogging train.  I get it.  Totally.  For me its not that I don't have things to blog about, it's that I don't have the time to blog.  I guess it's really a matter of making the time, but I downloaded an obscene amount of books (like 42, but who's counting) and recently, laying in bed reading Nook is more enticing than sitting on the computer having internet ADD until way past my bedtime.  I'd rather play the "just one more chapter" game as an excuse for not getting to sleep on time.  I tell myself that at least I'm already in bed, so there's that.

Additionally, I love my bed.  It misses me when I'm gone.  The feeling is mutual.  Just being in my bed is preferable to sitting on the couch.  ANNNDDDD my bed is my safe place from the dogs (except for Miley who am I unable to resist forever and always).  On the couch, Meri lets her entire body just drop on my arm as I'm trying to type or dribbles water on me from her wet beard or noses at my ear to give her attention, Olive makes the most obnoxious breathing noises, distracting me, or she begs with those eyes to get up on the couch when the spot beside me is taken, Phil is just so cute I can't stand not to pet him.  There are no dogs allowed on my bed when I'm in it, unless invited and I don't invite my dogs ever to join me.  I just like my space.  #sorrynotsorry.

Finally, I also like cuddles.  Just to prove that I am an human and not a robot to everyone.

Pretty sure this was the best line of the book because it was like he was describing me.

DOS

We've been playing this fun game call "guess the song title and artist" at work this work listening to the Pop2K station on Sirius.  I'm impressively bad at the artist/title, but I probably know 95% of the lyrics.  Good job brain, good job.

Seriously though.  NMCI, one of the best things you've done for me in my Naval "career" has been to unblock streaming media.  Dealing with work arounds and secret methods was just a pain and while I don't mind breaking the rules, it was always a disappointment to come in on a random day and find out that I'd been found out.  If I tracked my internet options the entire time I've been in the navy, we'd definitely see some exponential progress.

I started with ZERO internets in bootcamp (obviously) and mostly just my cell phone for internets during my VA beach time, other than when I'd go to Mr. Scrooge's house and I'd bring my laptop.

(source)

When I got to GTMO, there was "DSL" internet.  And by DSL it actually meant (in)direct SATELLITE link.. not whatever it means to actual first worlders.  The internet, at work and home, was the speed of dial up.  Sometimes, we'd make those dial-up sounds when the internet was being particularly slow.  We had to use a work around to get to Facebook and Google Reader still existed (/weep).  I would send out the "Nuggets" which were the past 24 hours worth of submitted Texts From Last Night after lunch and people would get extremely disappointed when they weren't sent out.  I would get hate mail.  This is when people first started depending on me for entertainment.  When I PCSed to Bahrain, I was unable to keep up with my Nuggets and TFLN faded into the past with some disappointment.  In my room, I had a 25 ft ethernet cable that I used.  Since we were already at dial-up speed, the additional speed decline of wireless wasn't even worth it.

Bahrain internet was faster.  Sometimes there were hiccups when the Royal Kingdom of Bahrain wouldn't allow me to see certain webpages because censorship is legit over there.  Since it was ONENET rather than NMCI, we had access to youtubes and facebook and sometimes Google Reader, but I was so busy that I couldn't really enjoy those things at work.  The internet was fast enough to play World of Warcraft, but due to some complaints from Teh Bear and my boredom with the game, I quit cold turkey at the end of May 2011.  The other problem with Bahrain internet was that it wasn't American internet, which meant I couldn't go to certain websites and watch my shows.. em hmm ABC.com for Grey's Anatomy.  I tried to make sure all my downloads were when I was at work or asleep so I didn't have to deal with the bandwidth drain.  I had a 50 ft ethernet cord constantly stretched across my flat because the wireless was too much of a hassle to try and deal with.

When I PCSed to MD, it was like being back in America.. oh wait.  I was.  I had ALL THE INTERNETS!!!!  Life was glorious.  I could stream Netflix on my TV and play youtube videos at the same time.  I could even play MULTIPLE videos at the same time.  After coming from GTMO and having to wait 15 minutes for a 3 minute video to even load/buffer then Bahrain where the video was probably unavailable since I was in an "unsupported" country, this was a magical experience.

So really what I'm saying is.. I appreciate the internet.  You should appreciate your internet too, Gentle Readers.  Even if you have shitty Comcast or have to/had to deal with bandwidth caps.

Just watch the first 2 minutes of this clip.
TL;DR: Just give it a second.  It's going to space!

TRES

I was pretty sure that Wednesday felt like Friday.  After my whirlwind NC trip last weekend, I'm ready to just relax for the weekend and be totally boring.  I say that and I'm sure that I'll have plans for every day of the weekend.  Not that I mind, but I really just want to sleep in and get to lounge in my pjs for at least a few hours.  Too bad Teh Dogs can't read this (that's not to say I won't read it to them or remind them when I go to bed Friday night we're sleeping in).
I even did my laundry already so I don't have to deal with as many clothes this weekend when I wash what dirty laundry I have.  Working out consistently is really adding to the dirty clothes problem that I have every week.  At least shorts/short sleeve tshirts take up less space in the laundry than long sleeves and pants.  Although Teh MD Adult Roomie and I were talking last night about how much I miss wearing my long sleeve workout shirts because they had thumb holes.  Thumb holes are the shiznit...  especially for someone who has short everything and is used to the sleeves of clothing coming well past my knuckles (I've gotten in trouble several times in uniform for my sleeves falling to the ends of my fingers rather than stopping at my wrists, which is usually when it's cold so it kinda works out for me in attempting to keep my fingers warm, but still.  There are short people with short arms in the world clothing designers and the petite section is MUCH smaller than the "regular" people sections)!
Also, a random for you:  Boob sweat is the ickiest.  Truly.  I hate it.  Not only is my sport bra soaked, if I'm laying down doing any exercises, the boob sweat runs UP my chest towards my neck.  How freakin' disgusting is that?  Just more aresnal for the boobs are the devil list.  I feel like such a dude when I'm having to wipe my between my boobs during my runs/workouts because the boob sweat is just too much for me to handle, it always makes me think of guys who constantly rearrange their junk.  Ugh.
The only benefit to boob sweat is using it as a weapon against Teh MD Teenage Roomie.  Nothing makes her get her feet off me faster than the threat of me touching her with my sweaty boobs.  WIN.

QUATRO

I have this thing I want to talk about but I don't want to jinx it.. but lets just say, maybe NOT Millington, TN?
I totally believe in jinxing things.  My LT comes in our office all the time and will say, "It seems quiet today."  At which point all hell seems to break loose.  Everyone wants to call both lines, all the people want to come in to check in, the cleaners need to be escorted, there is someone using every computer in the office.  I just don't tempt fate.  He's learned to ask if it's a quiet day, and he realizes that I will always knock on the desk (wood, of course) when I say, "Not so far."  I also believe in karma.  What goes around, comes around, bitches.  I believe that if you cut someone off, you will get cut off.  I also believe that if you make poor choices, you will get poor results.  Honestly, my belief in karma is what fuels my desire to help people and be generally agreeable, while not letting myself get run over by the asshats out there.  I also believe in acting on your word.  Don't make empty threats or empty promises.

(source)
For instance... Yesterday at work, during turnover time, one of the other 2nd classes was being obnoxious.  I gave him the "cut it out" glare, but he laughed and continued being obnoxious.  Someone else commented that he was being annoying and he said he knew that he was doing it on purpose.  He kept doing it, and I said, "If you keep doing that, I'm going to throw something at you."  He stopped for a moment, but then went right back to being annoying.  I took a cup with coins in it and threw the entire thing at him.  He commented that only one coin had hit him, so as I was leaving to change into my PT clothes, I picked up one of the coins on the floor and threw it full force at him.  It ended up hitting him in the side of the head.  I didn't even apologize.  I warned him it was going to happen.  I don't even play.

CINCO

A G rated (you're welcome) stream of consciousness from Teh Megan: I really enjoy running.  I like my route.  I like the smells (honeysuckle, salt water/beach).  It's paved.  I'M NOT A RUNNER!  I'm going to have to buy one of those water bottle belty things if I keep running in the middle of the day.  I'm sure that bicyclist thought my head was actually tomato when he offered me water the other day.  I'M NOT A RUNNER DAMMIT!  I don't want to do the elliptical today, it makes me feel so lazy.  6.5 miles isn't lazy, you moron.  Fine, I'll just do an ab workout after my elliptical-ing.  I'm really glad Teh MD Adult Roomie loves me enough to turn around and go back home for Nook for me so I can have a good workout.  If I didn't have Nook maybe I would have went on a run.  I ran yesterday, I need to rest.  I didn't bring the right bra for a run (oops PG slip), so maybe I would have endured the gym.  Don't be silly.  Ok, I would have went on a run.  That foam roller is really a miracle in my life.  I might even build some upper body strength using it.  Bahahaha, don't be silly.  It's really weird when it's so hot I don't really sweat and the salt just dries on my face and my face feels all stiff.  Maybe that's where those big freakin' zits came from. No, that was PMS, nevermind.  Being a girl is stupid.  All these zits and PMS and having the "right" sports bra.  Should I buy more "right" sports bras?  Is 3 enough?  OMG I need to save money, not spend more.  I did so good the other day, resisting replacing my pots and pans despite the Woot deal.  But I really should buy one of those water bottle belty thingies, even if they are dorky.  I can't carry my water bottle and run.  I already feel like my phone weighs 10 extra pounds in my pocket.  I got the arm band, but I'd have such a horrendous tan line from that thing.  I should look up leg workouts, so I can do some strengthening.  I've read that it really helps with running.  I don't need anymore lower body strength though.  I need to focus on not having arms that keep waving at people after I've stopped.  That's important.  I bet if I had a half sleeve tattoo like I want, no one would notice the extra waving.  Oooo, I should go look at that tattoo on my pinterest.  No, don't.  That will only make me want it more.  But I really want it.  What would a half sleeve look like in a wedding dress?  Teh Mom would hate it.  You're not getting married anytime soon, who cares?  See, this is why I shouldn't buy anything.  I need dollas to pay for a new tattoo in November.  Ughhh I need dollas to move too.  Tattoos aren't as important as moving. Uggghhh moving.  No, don't think about Charleston.  You'll jinx it.  Stop.  No, just plan for Millington.  You know how the navy works.  Uggghh.  But I just want to plan all the things.  Is it time to eat yet?  I'm not really super hungry, but I should eat for my workout so I don't die.  *gnat flies in front of my face and I clap to kill it*  OMG I KILLED IT!!  I NEVER GET THEM!  This is a great day.  Awww they are playing mine and Teh Worldwide Jesus Lover's song!  I miss her.  She should come to visit me.  We could go tour DC and do all the things.  Going to DC costs money.  I don't have money.  I have to move.  Moving blows.  It stresses me out.  And all my things will be gone.  I need a job.  But IDK (yes I think in acronyms, judge me, don't care) where I'm going to be.  PLAN for Millington, dumbass.  You know how this works.  Uuuggghhhh.. 1.91 inches of snow a year.  Depressing.  it doesn't snow at the other possibility either.  But the other possibility is awesome and NOT in BFE, Tennessee.  Don't jinx yourself.  Just stop.

PS.  If you were paying attention, I might have mentioned the not-Millington option.

Linking up with these ladies since it's FRRRRRRIIIIIDDDDDDDAAAYYYYY!!!!!!

Humpday Confessions #9

But I'm not ready for the new linkup button.... /sads
Soooo, I'm going to hold out for one more week.

Confessions:

-When people slow down to pass "authorized use only" roads (where the cops park) then speed back up, I want to rear-end them.  No slowing down.  If you're afraid to speed, then get in the slow lane and get out of my way.  If you want to speed, don't go so fast that you panic that you're going to see a cop who might stop you.  And if you want to speed and don't care, then let's be interstate driving buddies.

-We were talking about blow jobs while driving at work the other day.  I asked how a blow job could be bad and then we went through the technicalities of a bad blow job.  Then we proceeded to make blow job faces.  Does this crap happen in the civilian world?  Because I need it to.

-Food shaming irritates the absolute crap out of me.  Ya'll choose to come to the pizza place and eat the buffet.  Stop raggin' on each other for eating more than a single slice of pizza and defending your eating of a brownie by telling everyone how many calories you burned that morning working out.  I think the irritation comes from the fact that I started to feel guilty about my huge salad (with cottage cheese instead of dressing) and my 2 slices of pizza with ranch and my brownie... and there might have been some PMS involved.

-I've started training for my 1/2 marathon.  I've been running on base during lunch time.  It sucks because it's sooooo freakin' hot, but as I was crossing the bridge one day it smelled like salt water and beach and I actually enjoyed it for at least a minimal amount of time, before I realized that I had actually gone crazy for enjoying a run, outside, in 80+°F, with all the bugs, with all the allergens, while getting sunburned, with my phone about to die.  Also, I get to see the beautiful Pax River vistas.

Chesapeake Bay

This bridge is deceptively long... and uphill one way.

Hewwo baby osprey.

Sailboats and the "Solomon's" Bridge

-I bought a foam roller.  Roller day at yoga in GTMO used to be my most dreaded day.  My IT bands and I aren't friends.  My pieces just don't like being squashed, I think it stems from the big boob problem I have.  Yet, the foam roller and I are becoming friends.  After a 5.3 mile run on Monday, I eliminated ALL soreness by rolling after my run and before bed.  Teh MD Roomies laugh at me when they see me rollin' but it's totally worth it.  Oh and the back pops that I can't normally get that I can get with the roller.  WORTH IT.

(source)

-For Father's Day, I gave Teh Dad the gift of my presence and his very first Cards Against Humanity session.  Despite how awkward it could have been, it was pretty fun.  Except for that one time where Teh Sister got something to the effect of masturbating to "my dad's stupid face."

PS, read the white cards from bottom to top to get their proper order.  (So the top card is first, then the bottom card)

I'm pretty proud of this win.  PS.  I had the least amount of cards at the end.

-Port calls on deployment are my new favorite thing until there's a plane ride to America for a certain someone.

-We have hit less than 100 days till terminal leave.  WOOO!!!
-We have hit less than 100 days till terminal leave.  Oh shit.

-I'm the worst at budgeting.  I use You Need a Budget, but I'm always adjusting my allotted amounts to make it all balance out to zero, because "every dollar should be allotted somewhere."  Except I think I'm doing it wrong.  Because I spend all the monies then REallot the monies rather than allot the extra into savings or stop spending when I reach my allotted amount.  Apparently I need a separate bank account for each category to be effective at budgeting... or I need someone else to control my dollas.

-I don't care if you drive in the rain with no windshield wipers, maybe you have rain-x or something, but use your damn headlights.  Not because I want to see your headlights, but I NEED to see your tail lights when you decide to slam on the brakes because OMG RAIN!

-I often use gestures and sound effects to convey an idea for words that I can't think of.  And what I mean by this is that I pretended my arms were windshield wipers and made the spray sound of windshield washer to Teh MD Adult Roomie to remind her to get washer fluid when I couldn't remember the term "windshield washer fluid".  Pretty sure we'd win charades every.single.time.  She's also good at deciphering my "mouth is full" talking and my grunts/grumbles when I don't make coherent words.

-The travel bug bit me.  I have people in Grenada, Hong Kong, and New Orleans.  I feel like I'm going stir crazy.  This is despite the fact that I went to NC last weekend.  I want to go overseas.  I want to go somewhere new.  I want Europe or Asia or Australia (the not Perth part).  Anyone wanna be my "rich uncle?"  PPpuuuullllleeeeaaassssseeeee????

Why that tattoo?

Teh Sister and I have a long standing history with origami.  I started doing origami in middle school as a way to keep myself quiet during class (I was a talker, imagine that).  This continued into high school and college and still happens on occasion when I'm struggling to stay quiet when I'm supposed to.  I sat through my high school and college graduations making origami birds with the flappy wings.  I passed the birds down the row to my classmates and eventually we had a row full of people flapping wings of paper birds during the ceremony... but I was still quiet!  Teh Sister started doing origami at some point when I wasn't paying attention and she's much better at it than me.  She likes picking the most complicated, intricate items and making them.

A dracula riding a boat with an owl as protection and a bird swooping in.

This was Teh Sister's Bahrain masterpiece.
She keeps requesting a new origami day calendar so she can have more origami paper.

When I found a photo of an origami tattoo on Pinterest in March, I immediately sent it to her.  She said she liked it and I flippantly, but seriously said, we should get matching tattoos of an origami bird.  And I expected her to be like, "yeaaaaahhhhhh..... no."  Instead, she was like, "OMG YES WE SHOULD."

And then it was game on.  We took a month to figure out what we actually wanted.  I knew I wanted some rainbow coloring behind it.  I had 2 options for who I wanted to do it.  There was a place called Warlock's Tattoo in Raleigh that I would pass on my way to campus each day when I lived in Cary with the Ex-Fiance.  I always wanted to get a tattoo from there.  My other option was Noel Mitchel, a guy that I had went to school with.  I used to sit in science class in 7th grade and watch him draw and doodle during class and he was AMAZING then and I watched him in art classes during high school continue to be awesome.  We graduated high school together and I had heard a few years ago that he had started tattooing.  I checked out some of Noel's work before I committed to one or the other, but the balance was always in his favor since I knew he was good.

We actually changed the line drawing the week before and were still making color changes when Noel was doing it.  Teh Sister requested more yellow.  I did as well after I realized just how much green I ended up with.  I'm not a huge fan of the brown in mine, but I'm coming to terms with it, because its probably what water color would actually look like.  When Noel was doing it, he was making suggestions and I told him that I trusted him to do whatever he thought was best, to go at it.  He added some extra green shading and gave me more orange and yellow spots, despite my almost hyper-ventilation breathing due to the pain.

So they aren't exactly the same, but they "match" enough for us.

PS.  I never thought I'd have a matching tattoo with Teh Sister.  IDK.  I had never considered it until this year when I saw the origami bird and then it just was meant to be.  Good thing we like each other way more now than we used to.

Sometimes its still strange to look down and see that my feet don't match anymore.  Then again, sometimes I see the tattoo on my wrist and I'm like woah, what is that?  It's been there since Dec 2006, you'd think I'd have it figured out by now...  No matter how much seeing my foot surprises me, I still LOVE the tattoo.  It's gorgeous.  Noel did a great job.

I told him I'd be back for my next one for sure.  If you're in NC and want a tattoo, hit up Noel at Lucky 13 Tattoo.  He won't disappoint you.

Humpday Confessions #8

Dear Weather,
Please get your shit straight as I'm over this headache and I started my 1/2 marathon training this week and it's just not working out.  Also, ouch, training.

Confessions:

-I've wanted it to be Wednesday all week just so I could post this blog.  I have started feeling this way every week since I started doing Kathy's link up.  I wish I was kidding, but I'm not.  #bloggerproblems

-I have a genre in my iTunes for just Disney.  Sorry not sorry.

-Part of my job is "motivating" people to renew their security clearances.  It's also the WORST part of my job.  I ALWAYS send a detailed list of directions to each individuals and yet 80ish% of individuals still manage to NOT read the directions and do it incorrectly, causing themselves, and more importantly, ME, more work.  I'm over it.  I'm sooooo, sooooo, soooooooooooo over it.  Why do I bother to write the instructions and send them (sometimes several times) if people continually fail to follow them?  I'm happy to take any suggestions to make my life easier and get people to follow the damn directions.  Anyone got anything???

(source)

-Sometimes, I stumble upon a new blog from some of the linkups I do and I'm all like YAY! new blog to follow.. Then I keep reading and realize that they are too lazy to use the shift button to capitalize letters and choose to ignore most of the rules of grammar and I just can't.  Sorry not sorry.  Not capitalizing the letter "i" when you are speaking of yourself is just not something I can handle.  You can mess up a their/there/they're or a your/you're every now and then.  I'm accepting of faults.  I personally over use the "...".  I fucking love "..."  because I feel like that's how my brain thinks.  Everything is a continuation of the previous sentence.  And sometimes, things are in my head in all caps.  It is what it is.  But there is never anything in all lower case though.  No.  Just no.

(source)

-I've started making "to-do" lists when I get to work in the morning of all the things I need to accomplish.  This is actually quite helpful so I don't get distracted by all the internets for the entire workday and then fail to accomplish any work, which actually rarely happens, but I did spend a majority of Friday morning catching up on a huge thing that I'd been putting off because I didn't want to deal with it.  For good reason, since it sparked the 2nd confession rant.

-After breakfast nap is my favorite time with the dogs.  I love when Meri snuggles with me.  I love when Phil is completely relaxed.  I love when Olive is calm.  I love when Miley roaches.  It's so quiet and I forget how much of a terrorist Meri and Olive can be.  I forget about Phil's bad breath.  I love watching them have dreams where their eyes and feet and sometimes tails get twitchy and hearing them "talk" in their sleep.  They are so motivational (as in, watching them makes me want to take a nap too).

-Talking to the right person can make a particularly horrible day much, much, much better.  If not for the entire day, at least temporarily, which is all that matters.

(source)

-I'm over seeing crap about Orange is the New Black.  I tried watching the first episode and couldn't get into it.  Apparently I should try again so I, too, can be a fan girl?  But seriously people, just watch it quietly like you were doing before.  It's better that way for everyone.

(source)

-Often, when I use the downstairs bathroom, I make faces to myself in the mirror while I'm doing my thang.  I think it might be the first bathroom where I could see myself while I am sitting on the toilet.  It's really a fun game.

-I act like a "child" in public apparently (per one of my coworkers).  Probably because I do things like chase people around stores wearing a bra over my clothes or pretend like I'm doing things with items in hardware stores.  Pffth.  My life is fun and doesn't involved getting shitfaced every weekend.  I enjoy being ridiculous in public because I'm making myself laugh, if not everyone else who is getting to experience my ridiculousness.  Yes, my actions might be "childish" but I'm fully aware of what I'm doing.  I don't have anyone to impress but myself and I think I'm awesome.

-I find it slightly humorous when I see an Asian person driving a Honda Civic... or maybe I'm just stereotyping.

(source)

-I felt like this post wasn't complete without a Loki gif.  Sorry not sorry.

Friday, I can haz?

Challenge ACCEPTED on a lazy weekend.

I told you what I did on Friday already, so we're gonna skip ahead to Saturday...

Saturday

Meri woke me up at 0545 whining to go out.  I woke up feeling refreshing and overly friendly because I had slept SO well Friday night.  The dogs had come to bed with Teh MD Roomies after I had already went to bed.  I didn't even hear Teh Adult Roomie come in and put Meri in her crate.  I was OUT!  While everyone was going business, I made doggy breakfasts.  After breakfast time, I let them all back out and watched Meri "stalk" Miley and Olive in the yard.  It was unbearably adorable.  She just wants these big dogs to play with her and they are all such breed snobs.  Greyhounds, /eyeroll.  I let them all back in and after Meri got all her energy out, it was after breakfast naptime for all the dogs.  I finished the Saturday blog and decided it was my after breakfast naptime too.

When I woke up, I responded to a surprise email from an old friend, ate lunch, and made a few dead end phone calls to listed contacts on some of the TN houses I've found so far.  Let's just say the search isn't going well, kinda.  Additionally, it's incredibly hard to find a place to live without seeing it first, but to the place with the video tour, YOU ROCK!!!

I was surprised when I saw the email from the old friend because I haven't spoken to her since March 2008.  I wasn't sure if I had walked away on good or bad terms and I've honestly wondered a lot about her and her family since then.  I was relieved to finally be able to tell her all the things I've wanted to tell her since March 2008.  If almost felt as if something that was missing was returned.

Teh MD Adult Roomie needed to run some errands and she still needs a chauffeur, so I got to take her out on the town!  We stopped by BJ's for some items, then headed to Lowes to pick up a new faucet for the kitchen sink (since she loathes the one we currently have (as do I, but its a rental)).  The person who is installing the faucet said, "Well, at least it's not Kohl's.  There can't be anything she can get into there."  Yep, he saw the bra experience at Kohl's on Teh Blog.

And Lowes Hardware?  Lowes is an excellent place to find all the ridiculousness.

Proof:

Seriously mowing the parking lot.

"Is this the right thing?"
I'd be a great Vanna White.

Takin' a shower.  I was using our new faucet.

AAAHHHHH!!!!!!!

Just takin' a bath.

Wait, this isn't the Tardis!!!  Let me out!

Helloooo?!  Are you in there??  I can't see you!!  Let me in!!

I will knock incessantly until you let me in!!

Fine, I'll just come in via your open window!!

No one's gonna notice if I hijack this cone, right??

That's all I've got to say about that.
(I'd call it a double success since I was able to use a Loki gif to convey my success)

After Lowes was Target and then home.  Later, I headed to Teh FL Greyhound Neighbor's for dinner and socializing.  We got to make smores over their new fire pit and it was marvelous.  I'm not sure if I've ever revealed this secret about myself to my Gentle Readers, but I'll just tell you now, I'm a master of marshmallow toasting.  I've perfected the toasted marshmallow.  The crispy outside, the gooey center, mmmmmmmm.  It's a skill that I'm quite proud of.  I love toasting marshmallows for other people so I can hone my skills.  After an enjoyable evening, it was time to head back home to release the hounds and crash in bed.

A perfectly toasted/melty marshmallow.

Sunday

I got an early start Sunday morning when Meri started whining.  I rolled over to ignore her and go back to sleep and my hand landed on my phone, which vibrated within the subsequent minute.  Taking that as my sign, I got up and released the hounds and prepared their breakfast while attempting to wake up and talk to Mr. Mystery, which didn't last long enough to warrant my awakeness.  I went back to bed and my really good dream was interrupted by a herd of elephants Teh MD Teenage Roomie going up and down the stairs at 0730.  It was like the world knew I was aware again.  Teh Sister messaged me, Mr. Mystery messaged me.  Apparently, nap time was over.  I talked to both of them through my shower time and had to throw on clothes and rush to church in time to add the rest of the slides before the service.

After another successful solo soundbooth day, I went to pick up Teh MD Teenage Roomie and headed back home to pick up Teh MD Adult Roomie for lunch.  We had lunch at Lonestar and Sweet Frogs for dessert, nomnomnom.  Afterwards we came home for naptime and relaxation.  I talked to Teh Dad for a while, it had been a while since we had chatted and Teh MD Adult Roomie found our conversation mostly hilarious.  While I was talkin' to Teh Dad, Teh MD Adult Roomie was sending me job links and she found a super awesome job that I realllllllyyyyy would like to have, marketing and communications manager.  ME, ME, ME!!  PICK ME, PICK ME!!  So now the motivation to redo my resume is hot, hot, hot.  That job would be perfect because it would be on base and it would use my DEGREE (omg, what?!) and it would even still be Navy related (perfect opportunity for those continued LT Stories of the Day for my personal FB friends).

The rest of the evening was spent playing with puppies and cleaning house and being generally lazy.

Lazy weekends are seriously the best.
