Humpday Confessions #16

It's the first day of vacation!!!!!  EEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!  I can't even handle myself right now.

Vodka and Soda

Confessions:

-Last Wednesday after posting my confessions, a million things irritated me and I had to start this post because I needed somewhere to rant where people would understand.  My coworkers don't get me like my Gentle Readers do.

-We had a cold snap last Wednesday morning and it really should have been a rest day, but cool days DEMAND long runs.  I mean, after suffering those 90+ temp runs, to NOT run on a low-70s day seems like a sin.  People were also trying to predict the winter weather from the few days of "cold" that we got.  Really people?

-I have been deferring/delegating work.  I'm under the 2 month mark and my coworkers really need to learn all my secrets.  I think they mostly have it, but I know there are somethings that haven't been covered.  My rule now is if I can't handle it from sitting at my desk, I'm not interested.  YAY for showing up for work!

-I hate having to work with other departments on certain issues.  I feel like it involves way too much work.  I'd rather just do everything myself and take on too much work than have to involve other people who don't know their heads from their asses.

-I found a fun list about how to convert from military to civilian life and the transition might be difficult.  Especially when Mr. Mystery says things to me like, "Wait one," and I reply, "No, you standby."  #youcanleavethemilitarybutthemilitaryneverleavesyou

-I tried a life hack to keep your pbj sammich from getting soggy.  Put peanut butter on both pieces of bread then add the jelly.  Tada no more soggy bread when you eat your sammich for lunch.  IT WORKS!!!

-When I can accomplish finding someone at work without leaving my desk by making a single phone call when someone else couldn't, I feel like a boss.  NBD.

-I was still commenting on last week's confessions posts on Monday.  I really appreciate when link-up-ers link their actual confessions post and not just their main blog URL.  I get it, but come on.. if I like your one post, I know how to find the rest of your posts.  And if you're posting a what you wore/NOT confessions post, you're a dirty pirate hooker and I hate you for wasting my life on your blog (ok, I feel a little strongly about this one).. and if your blog is private, WHYYYYY do you do linkups?  Get it together people!

-Despite only having to work 2 days this week, it took a very long time to get to Wednesday.  Even Mr. Mystery agreed.  I'll be excited when it's October and this long-distance relationship will just be a relationship.

-The realtor didn't get some information to me that she said she would send last Thursday.  The landlord wanted us to take over the electric bill asap and she said she would get us the info on how to do that and where to send the deposit checks to, yet still nothing from her.  I'm hoping that she isn't the only one who manages our property and we don't have to deal with her after we get moved in because she is pissing me off in the worst way.  I wish I had the contact info for the landlord and I'd just call and deal with him myself instead of getting the run around from this lady who can't seem to get her head out of her ass.  My fear is that she is telling the landlord it's our fault that it's not been fixed and it's actually not since I have no idea who the electric company even is.. or any of the utility companies for that matter.  I did at least figure out the deposit stuffs without her assistance.

-That same realtor left me a voicemail that I had to listen to FIVE times to be able to comprehend her phone number and email address.  FIVE TIMES, Gentle Readers.  Now I talk pretty fast, so often times I've had people need me to repeat things (Ms. Motivator), so I comprehend fast talkin' pretty good.  I do NOT get speeding up to say your phone number and email when you are asking me to get back in contact with you, because I'm less likely to call you back if I can't understand your number because you said it as fast as you possibly could AND THEN you blurt out your email address and hang up.  Seriously?  It's unprofessional and it makes me rage.  I'm pretty sure that if I have to deal with her for much longer, I may actually call her out on it.

-I bought a whole bunch of new bras a few weeks ago and it's quite difficult to get used to the new ones after wearing the old ones for so long.  Also, push up bras are magical.. except for when I bend over and the girls just forget their place.  Stay in your holder, bolders.

-Since seeing Little Shop of Horrors last week, I can't stop singing the soundtrack.  I wanna perform in another musical, it was just too much fun.

-Printing out my boarding passes at work yesterday made me want to just leave work.  Not that being at home makes the time pass faster, but it's the principle of not being at work.

-I don't paint my nails often, but when I do, I make sure it's "out of regs" and when I'm off work for at least 3-5 days.  Thus, I felt obligated to get my nails did since I am going to be on leave for 2 weeks.

-$5 off coupons to Red Robin makes me feel like I need to go there.  They sure do know how to sucker me.  That's pretty much 1/2 my bill, so it's like 50% off.  I'll take it.

-I'm so used to Teh MD Adult Roomie getting all the packages now that I didn't even notice on Monday that I had a package!  Meri's new harness finally arrived!  It's not exactly what I wanted since it doesn't have 2 clips, but it will have to do since it's so pretty.

-Having only ever heard great things about JetBlue, I'm pretty hyped for my flights from DC to CA and SC to DC.  I can't even describe how thrilled I was to see that they were as cheap as or cheaper than United/Delta.  YAY for yet another loyality points/miles account.

-I packed workout clothes and my hydration belt.  It might be a futile effort, but dammit, the effort is there!

-I tried to dye the underside of my hair blue last night.  It failed.  I probably should have listened to lady who said to bleach it first, but ain't nobody got time for that.  It was gonna be so pretty too.

-VACATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Music Monday & Weekend Wrap-Up {8/4}

YAY for MUSIC MONDAY!!!

The prompt for this week is:
What is your favorite song currently on the radio?

can I decide another day?

I've been getting super song headaches and totally loving it to ZZ Ward's - Last Love Song.

No, Mr. Mystery and I didn't break up, it's just slow and I can match her voice very well when I sing to it.  It wasn't a coincidence when I found the Lub Book while I was packing that this song went through my head (the Lub Book was a notebook that Teh Bear and I wrote letters to each other in and we mailed it back and forth while I was in Bahrain and before he came to MD.  And to toot my own horn, I was totally better at writing in the Lub Book than him, if he still reads Teh Blog, he'd agree).

The rest of the album isn't so bad, but sometimes it gets more of a jazzy tone than I really care for.  Yep, I'm a band nerd that never got into jazz.  There's just something about high pitched trumpets that make me want to punch a baby... ok and maybe the asshole first chair trumpet-ers that came along with all those jazz ensembles.  Whatevs.

So lets just talk about this weekend shall me?
Remember when I said on Friday that it was gonna be a quiet weekend?  I jinxed myself.
Lets talk about it.

FRIDAY

Friday after work I considered going to workout, but taking a nap won out.  It was rainy out and just perfect nappin' weather and I'd been on duty Tues-Thurs which meant being at work from 2230-2300 (10:30-11pm, I really am going to miss military time and how easy it is to know am/pm without having to differentiate).  I'm normally in bed by 2130ish since I'm up at 0445 to get ready for work, so this was cutting into my sleep time and I needed to catch up on my sleeps.

I woke up from my nap and was catching up on Humpday Confessions, because I really wanted to try and read everyone's posts this week, but it just wasn't happening.  Teh MD Adult Roomie came home from work on the phone and asked if I wanted to go with her on a trip to DC to meet up with an old friend.  Of course!  Within a few minutes we had fed the dogs and were heading out the door for dinner.

Teh MD Adult Roomie hadn't seen this friend in a while, so she was super excited for the opportunity to catch up.  We had dinner at a sports bar down the street from their hotel.  We were back home by 2300 and headed to bed since Teh MD Adult Roomie had a 5k on Saturday morning and I had more sleeping to get to.

SATURDAY

Saturday morning was rough.  The beasts were up at 04 with Teh MD Adult Roomie since she was getting ready to leave and, with good intentions, she put Meri in Olive's crate and Meri had finished her kong and was making a huge racket trying to get out of the crate that woke me up at 05.  I was unbearably annoyed.

I got up and put Meri in her crate, and she settled for about an hour.  Instead of going back to sleep, I spent about half that time texting with Mr. Mystery (yay for time difference!), so when Meri woke me up at 0615 with her whining I wanted to set her loose on the street.  I got up and let all the dogs out and left them all free to roam while I went back to bed.

I woke back up at 0930 and Ms. Motivator had posted her 8.5+ mile run and I felt guilted into running from Ms. Motivator and because Teh MD Adult Roomie was running a 5K.  I got up and did a "short" run, 4.6 miles.  When I came home Teh MD Adult Roomie was back from her 5K and she had delivered lunch!  She's the best.

Unfortunately, when I had left for my run, I had opted against putting the dogs away.  Teh MD Adult Roomie arrived home before me to find the dog food container eaten open and laying in the living room floor.  We have no idea how much food they ate, but we knew it wasn't going to take long to see the results.  Le siiiigh.

At noon I had an appointment with Yurtle to figure out why my tire light hates me.  Not only did they tell me the sensor was probably bad, they didn't charge me!  WIN!  I wasn't even lookin' close to cute, so I have no idea why they didn't charge me, but I'll take it.  I came back home and finally showered from my run and ended up taking a nap because it was perfect rainy weather.. again.  I'm not one to pass up nap opportunities.

every nap.. EVER.

After naptime, it was time to get ready for evening entertainment: babies and Cards Against Humanity.

Sleeping babies rock.  Both babies ended up sleeping for most of the evening, but I held this one since he was the visitor and I needed to get in my baby quota. When we got home, there was diarrhea from the dogs to clean up, of course, which meant cleaning the carpets, uuugghh.  After getting the carpet cleaned up and washing out the cleaner, it was my bedtime.

I had laid in the bed and covered up when I heard Teh MD Adult Roomie scream/yell.  I couldn't tell if it was an emergency yell, so I got out of the bed and was on my way down when Teh MD Adult Roomie yelled my name.  When I walked into the kitchen, I found her sitting on the floor with a paper towel over her foot and blood spots on the floor and she was telling me something about killing a grand daddy long legs.  She had been slicing cheese with a knife and was putting it on the counter to grab a paper towel to kill the spider herself and the knife and slipped and it ended up cutting her over her big toe.

Let me point out that she was more worried about me killing the spider than her bleeding foot.

This is funny because 15 minutes before all this happened, we had been in the kitchen and I turned around and there was a spider and I screamed and told her to kill it since I was "defenseless" (aka no shoes on).  She killed it for me and all was well.

Since Teh MD Adult Roomie doesn't do blood, I offered to take a look at her toe to see what the damage was.  When she pulled up the paper towel and I informed her we should probably go to the emergency room, she wasn't very pleased.  I later told her that she should be glad that Teh Mom inside of me took over instead of Teh Dad because otherwise, she probably would have bled all night long (he's still not a fan of going to the doctor either).

I went upstairs to put my clothes back on and on my way back to her grabbed a towel and some frozen vegetables from the freezer and another paper towel to wrap up her foot for the drive.  We were very fortunate that it wasn't a busy night in the ER.  We were in and out in about an hour with a stitched up gimp foot to show for our efforts.

She was very glad she had her toes done recently.

When we got home after midnight, we both crashed.

SUNDAY

Sunday morning was rough.  Since the dogs weren't feeling well, I was on high alert all night long.  Meri woke me up at 0300 with her whining and there was no way I was going to ignore it knowing what had happened on Saturday.  I got up and let her out and she took care of her business and we went back upstairs to bed.  She whined again at 0600 when Teh Roomie let them out.  She woke me up at 0825 a final time whining and I got up and let all the dogs out.  I had let them in and was eating breakfast when Olive decided that she needed to go... on the living room floor.  I wanted to KILL her.  Not just let her out on the side of the street, kill her since she had just came inside (the grass was too wet from all the rain for the princess to venture out into the yard.... /glare).

Instead of getting ready for church, I got to clean the carpet again.  After cleaning the carpets, I went upstairs and showered and was getting ready when Olive came upstairs and vomited up grass and dog food on my bedroom floor (she hadn't gotten breakfast that morning and 1/2 her dinner the night before, so the presence of dog food was surprising to me).  I was definitely late for church.  Kids these days.  Ugh.  Lets just say that our household should purchase stock in Immodium.. for our dogs.

When I got home from church, I found out that the chicken I had planned on using for dinner had started to turn so it wasn't usable.  Grrreat.  I had a very unsatisfying peanut butter and jelly sammich for lunch since we were headed out to do run some errands, to include grocery shopping.

A lesson I always forget about Sunday afternoon: everyone else is out in public too.  Holy crap the crowds were awful.  It was like everyone in Pax River decided to all go to the store after lunch.  Uuugghh.   We were able to successfully accomplish our errands and there was no poop to clean up when we got home (WIN!).  After we got everything put away, we both took naps.  It was still kinda rainy out, I was starting to get a headache, Teh Roomie had gimp foot going on, and we were both just done.

After naptime, I got up and made shake 'n bake chicken nuggets and ranch/ritz cracker chicken nuggets for dinner.  NOM.  After dinner, we cleaned up the house, which had been our goal to accomplish all day on Sunday.  I feel like I need another weekend day to recover from this weekend, but my week is only 2 days long, so I really shouldn't be bitchin.  Additionally, Mr. Mystery was super sweet this weekend and I'm all teenage girl up in here.

Awwwwwwww.

There has been discussion of floating down the river drinking beer one day while I'm in CA and he knows I don't drink beer.  It's conversations like this that redeem him from the one night when he was texting me on a "school" night at almost midnight my time and said that he didn't need to keep up with the time difference....  Bitches interruptin' my sleeps is a serious no-no.  He's lucky he's cute (and he lets me wake him up in the middle of the night for things.....).

2 more days!

Five on Friday #28

UNO

Sorry if I'm obnoxious, buttttttt 5 more days till vacation!!!!  Pamela posted on her Wednesday Confessions that she was glad she wasn't flying because of the Ebola virus going around and now I'm paranoid.  Should I buy one of those mask thingies?  Should I just over-hand-sanitize?  How does one prepare to NOT contract Ebola?  I really should follow the news more.

After some wikipedia research, I'm not as worried, but still, ain't nobody got time for sickness.  I'm not really a toucher anyways (as in, I don't touch other people or go out of my way to touch things other people have, with the exception of door handles, etc).

I sometimes have a hard time with the communal desks/phones/computers we have to share at work.  I'd much rather just have my desk with my germs rather than have that thought as I'm touching my face that someone else was sitting here when I wasn't and who knows the last time they washed their hands or touched their face, etc.  Being me is hard, if you haven't caught on to that yet, Gentle Reader.

DOS

Last week was a short week (for me) because of my packout and this week is a normal 5 day work week and next week is only 2 days and I never thought Friday would get here.  Honestly, sometimes, the week just goes soooooo sllllloooooowwwwwwwwwww.

Work has been bustin' my balls for most of the week and I'm just over it.  In addition, I got a curve ball thrown at me when I accepted this week for duty as an exchange since I was originally scheduled for duty while I'm on vacation.  #militaryproblems

Nothing makes me want some "adult juice" more than not being able to have "adult juice," although I should probably save my liver for next week.  We'll see how today goes before making a final determination on that.

In addition to work being a bitch, I've been trying to work out every day because I'm gonna need the hot bod next week (don't even judge me).. and the working out helps relieve some of the work stress (especially since I can't drink), so it's beneficial in multiple ways.

TRES

I called to renew my Sirius Radio this morning and I can no longer get my $25 for 6 months promo.  /dislike.  When I decided to really cancel it, she offered me 3 months for the price of 1 month.  I took it.  I wasn't looking forward Sirius-less Yurtle.  #firstworldproblems.  It would have meant being better about updating my ipod and being out of touch with the current musics of the day... anddddd I'd never have discovered Kongos - Come With Me Now, so I mean, I'm dedicated by this point (ok, and a little spoiled).

QUATRO

I bought a blackhead extractor.  I love it.  Don't judge me.  I love popping zits, that's probably why I love it so much.  I've been using Neutrogena's Pore Refining Cleanser since February and I love it.  I tried the exfoliating cleanser and hated it because of how bad my face kept breaking out on it.. and the smell.  Oh the smell was horrid.  The extractor + the face wash = the best my face has looked since I was pre-pubescent.  I refer to blackheads as Wormies (because I pretty much have a name for everything) because that's what they look like when they come out.  SOOOO many wormies come out with the extractor!!!  And yes, sometimes it hurts a bit, but totally worth it.

I've always had bad skin.  Being a teenager was rough, despite washing my face I still got zits.  I get PMS acne.  I have super bad blackheads (ok I consider them super bad, but that's because I see them every time I look in the mirror) in my nose and chin and some in my cheeks.  My acne was so bad as a teenager that I would give the "zones" names.  Like my chin was the "Deep South" because blackheads on the southern part of my face.  And there was Texas was my nose (because it's so big) and Alaska on my temple.  Teh Sister still understands what I'm talking about when I refer to the Deep South.

I paid a mabillion dollars and tried Mary Kay only to have my face breakout worse.  So far this regiment is working the best of anything I've ever done.  I wipe scrub my face off with a wet wash cloth in the shower and then use the daily cleanser.  At night, I'll try to use a face wash wipe if I'm feelin' dirty.

The blue stuff is the best.
I've never used the toner.

CINCO

I applied for more jobs last night and it overwhelms me to think about it.  Since we got the SC house, I had to update my resume to show the SC address and then figured since I was at it, I should check all the sites again and linked in for jobs.  Eventually, if I keep applying, someone is bound to hire me, right?  Le siiigh.  Job hunting causes me anxiety.  It's the worst for my self-esteem.  I've not gotten any rejection letters, so there's that gem.  This weekend I might do more searchin'.

So far there are no big plans for this weekend.  Our big event took place last night when we went to see Little Shop of Horrors.  It was an amazing show, except for one thing.  Audrey II didn't say, "Feed me, Seymour."  He just said, "Feed me."  The singing was great, the acting was on point, but that ONE line makes the entire show and it was MISSING!  It's like ordering ice cream and they just give you whipped cream instead.  It's still good, but it's not what you wanted.

There is game night on Saturday for some much needed Cards Against Humanity and there will be baby there, so extra baby cuddles/birth control for Teh Megan!  There will also be a run at some point over the weekend too.  I have some loose plans to spend lots of time with my laptop and maybe some Netflix.  Not even sorry.

(I am sorry for the fact that there are no gifs in this post because I'm posting from work, but I'm not sorry I was blogging at work (that always makes Teh MD Teenage Roomie jealous that she doesn't have a job like mine)).

Linking up with these ladies since it's FFFFRRRRRRIIIIIIDDDDAAAAYYYY!!!!!!!!!

Humpday Confessions #15

Remember how I said Music Monday with Brittany and Emmy is coming?  Well, Music Monday is next Monday and it's sneaking up on me like my packout did last Thursday (but it's NBD since I handled that packout like a boss).  The first week of every month we will have a specific prompt that you can choose to talk about (or not) and then for the rest of the month, each Monday is a music free for all.  For August our prompt is: what is your current favorite song on the radio.  (Hard, we know..)

can I decide another day?

So, Monday, tell us about your current jam and grab the button and link up with us!  We don't have link up rules other than to actually, in some way, talk about music/the prompt somewhere in your post.  Not too hard right?  In the meantime, ONTO THE CONFESSIONS!!!!

Vodka and Soda

Confessions:

-Apparently, my names are just too hard for some people.  I received a work email to "Ms. Regan" last week (my last name starts with R, so it was like they were going to call me my first name, but then decided to use my last name instead but failed).  I'm not sure if that a serious case of lexdexia (dyslexia) or what.  I can't even defend it.  Growing up, I always had to tell people the correct pronunciation of my last name.  When I joined the Navy, I kinda gave that up because it just wasn't worth the fight because if anyone learns anything that bothers you, it can be used against you later.  I'm not even correcting people how to say it anymore, I'm having to educate people on my actual name.  I never thought I'd be 28 and having people get my name so wrong.

-In a week I'll be in CA.  I'M GOING ON VACATION!!!  WOOOO!!!  All summer long I've been reading about everyone else being not at work and I've been unbearably jealous.  I couldn't help it.  Work has been driving me crazy lately and I know part of it stems from having "senioritis."  You know that feeling you got your senior year of high school/college when you were just done.  That's me now.  With 2 months left to go, I'm just over it all.  Yet, I'm still trying to put forth the effort and help train the new guy when the opportunity arises and try to pull some weight and I'm not complaining about duty, so there's that.

-I'm a wee bit nervous about meeting Mr. Mystery's family, and by a "wee bit" I mean really nervous.  I know that I can definitely come across the wrong way very easily to new people.

-Almost everyone has expressed some sort of concern about mine and Mr. Mystery's crazy plan to move in together.  We, too, are concerned about this plan, but have faith that we can make it work.  If I can survive deployment communication (i.e. almost none), I think I can handle whatever happens in real life.

-I have eaten from the dog peanut butter.  This wouldn't be so bad except I put PB in the kongs and the kongs don't get washed between refills.  So I've pretty much eaten after the dogs.  Don't judge me.

-I find it amusing that Target gave me my refund for an item I returned to the store before they charged me for the original purchase.  Really guys?  Get that shit together.  This wasn't an issue until I started using the Target debit card (which btw is a super sweet deal if you can handle your transactions not showing up until a week later).

-I'm kinda waiting on the other shoe to drop because of how neatly everything fell into place this last week.  I'm afraid that the other shoe is going to be job related, which is really scary.

-The realtor that landlord is using tried to get us to sign a lease that was incorrect yesterday.  Uhh no.  I will not sign a legally binding document that is incorrect.  kthxfixit to how I want it and we'll talk.  Also, sorry you couldn't understand me when you called earlier as I was on the elliptical and was totally in the groove and to those people around me who were possibly annoyed that I took a call, I had no fucks to give.

-While I'm nervous about CA, I'm unbearably excited about being with Mr. Mystery and being on vacation.  I wanted to pack my bag last weekend when I bought my plane ticket... and packing is always the very last thing I want to do, everrrr..  (PS.  I will NOT be posting a blog about how to efficiently pack a bag for travel, I've seen several bloggers do this and well, not only am I not efficient at packing, it's obviously already been done).

-When people stop at a yellow light they could have easily made it through before the light turned red, I get extremely ragey.  Especially when I could have been right on time to work and now I'm going to be 5 minutes late because you forgot that the pedal on the right could have jetted you across that intersection (where no oncoming traffic was a problem) like a boss.  Some people's kids.

-I feel guilty over the fact that I don't have very much to confess this week.  It's been crazy busy/eventful around here and with everything falling into place so nicely (and a significant lack of PMS), I don't really have much to bitch about confess.

-And for my consistent finale*:

*until next week!
