Five on Friday #27

UNO

I stepped in dog poop this morning.  I need that to not be indicative of how this day is going to go.  Teh MD Teenage Roomie and I were roughin' it out without Adult supervision and I decided to not close all 4 dogs in my room.  Yeah, piss (and shit) poor idea.  I should have probably gotten my sign from the open dog food container last night when I got home (yes, my dogs are that big and that smart).  The worst part is I can't blame just one dog.  It was either Olive or Phil (based on poop size).  Meri's poops aren't human sized and Miley slept with me all.night.long.

OMG I'm going to miss her sooooo muchhhhh.  She is leaving us tonight and I accepted that she has to go, but last night she snuggled with me all night long and for morning pettins this morning she just leaned on me and didn't want me to stop and she even let me get her eye gookies without too much of a fight.  Last night I was calling her up on the bed and she almost tried, but you could tell that her back legs weren't going to give her the spring she needed, she started pacing and was going to settle on the floor beside me.  I just couldn't have that.  I got out of bed and put her in the bed with me.*

*Reason #3 that doing arm workouts is beneficial.  Lifting a 50-80lb dog requires some muskles (yes, that was incorrectly spelled on purpose).

Queen Miley deserves only the best.  I'm afraid that all the different homes and her age has really taken a toll on her and our Queen is getting old.  Seeing her struggle going up the stairs and to get on the bed the last few weeks rips my heart to shreds.

DOS

Who is ready for some moving posts?!?!  MEEE!!!!  Moving posts are some of my favorites because I get to share my freakouts with you on here (which I can feel bubbling under the surface of my nonchalance) and talk about the movers and that whole bubble wrap thing.  Additionally, it's a time of purging.  Apparently, I have too many clothes?  I didn't actually think so, but Teh MD Adult Roomie says I have more clothes than her and she has a winter set and a summer set.  I argue that my uniforms are a large part of my wardrobe, but secretly, she may actually be right.  But I mean, what if, at some point in the future, I can't do laundry..  Then I will need those 7 pairs of jeans, 8 pairs of khakis, 2 pairs of grey pants, 1 pair of brown pants, 2 pairs of blue pants, and 1 pair of green pants?  As I was going through my closet last Sunday trying to separate my clothes into packout and keep with me, there might have been a point where I hugged all mabillion of my shirts and expressed my love for them and how I wasn't sure how I was going to live without them.  If Teh MD Adult Roomie didn't think I was nuts already, she probably does now.

She thought she was going crazy because of my moving.. bahhahaha.. She's not seen Teh Megan trying to pack yet.  Maybe I have too much of an addiction to my things?  But really.  I wear all the clothes!  The worst part is planning for the next 2.5 months.  I'm supposed to be going on vacation to drive cross country (woot!), there is the Battle of Britain in September and my 1/2 marathon ANNDDD what if I have an interview?!  I'll need better interview outfits... and the accompanying shoes.  I have no idea how I'm going to get down to Charleston without having someone accompany me or without installing a hitch to Yurtle (booooo) and renting a uhaul.  Part of the issue is I'll be toting the dogs with me and Phil doesn't like it when I cramp his style space.  Moving is hard, yo.

TRES

Looking at houses on Google Maps is the closest I've come in the last 3 years to doing my actual Navy job.  Holy hell, I never thought I'd miss recce-ing and counting 8 meter boats, but I do.  Le siiigh.  It's really hard to determine the bad neighborhoods from the good ones on Google Maps.  I'm lucky to have someone in Charleston helping me find a place.  I'm gonna owe her big time when I finally land in October.

QUATRO

I want to relax.  I want it to not require an alcoholic beverage, yelling at someone/anyone, or sleep (which isn't really working).  Even on my 5+ mile runs, that "runner's high" isn't doing it for me.  I can still feel the stress in my shoulders when I have to purposely pull them down to relax them.  I've taken a nap almost every day this week because awakeness is just.. a struggle.  I am overwhelmed by all the things that need to fall into place in the next month that don't seem like they are going to happen with the ease that I had predicted at the end of June.  I am overwhelmed with packing.  I am overwhelmed with all the changes going on in the house (and I know that you're reading this Roomie and that's not a jab at you, I really do love your rugs, I may even be a bit jealous at ALL THE NEW THINGS!!).  I am trying not to get upset, but I feel like I'm trying to get everything together and it's just not appreciated or even noticed.  I thought about just letting things go, to just step back from everything that isn't finding a job in Charleston, and the idea almost makes me shake because I'm too much of a control freak to relinquish that control.

I can haz?

CINCO

Denial isn't just a river in Egypt.  It's practically my entire life.  I've been online shopping so much.  I have immediate buyer's regret for 80% of the items I've purchased, but when I see all those boxes on my porch I love all the things.  I can't even help it.  BTW, Woot.com is such a freakin' enabler.  But check out my new super cute double hammock that I scored for $90!

Humpday Confessions #13

I can haz August??

Vodka and Soda

Confessions:

-I put an egg in my ramen noodles.  Don't say "ewww" until you've tried it.  (Holy crap, did you just see Teh Mom come out of me?  Woah.)

-I think assumed that 85% of the people who linked up last week were on their period and I felt a little left out that I'm a week behind.  I'm ridiuclous.  But don't worry.  I'm all caught up now.  Ugggh.

-Shonda Rhimes leaving Grey's Anatomy was one of the worst things that happened in my entire life.  I HAVE NEEDS DAMMIT!  I refuse to watch Scandal because I believe that Shonda needs to return home to Grey's, finish off the show and THEN I would follow her like the fangirl I am.

-Someone called me "Teh" last week when they responded to a comment I'd left on their blog.  As in, "Have a good day, Teh."  I wasn't sure if I should laugh or not.  FYI: "Teh" is actually a typo for "The" which I've used for years as a screen name.  It started back in the days of Myspace and I was going to be The Megan.. except that after I'd typed Teh Megan 3 times I said fuck it and just kept it.  At which point, there were people that would actually call me Teh Megan.  I've just carried it on since.  So really, my name is Megan.  My last name is irrelevant, but my last name is not Megan.  If you have picked up on my last name, lets just say we forget that bit of information, mmmmkay (probable) internet stranger?

-Dear Brad Paisley, There is nothing sexy about checking someone for ticks.  Ever.  WTF.

-I didn't get my Friday blog post done.  In my defense, I spent the morning working on my resume to apply for an SC job.

-Let's just say that eating broccoli before working out isn't one of my wiser life decisions.  Sorry gym-mates, my bad.

-I use a foam roller after my runs and when I roll my back out I make some pretty inappropriate groans.  Teh Roomies think its pretty hilarious.  I've told them the difference in my roller inappropriate groans and my other inappropriate groans is my ability to speak isn't hindered when I'm rolling.  How long till August???*

-I applied for more "real life" jobs this week in Charleston.  I don't even know what to do with myself.

-I have an unhealthy obsession with my shirts.  I might have went full on whiny-ass just about separating them to be packed out...  They are still in my closet and I can still wear them until the 24th, but the idea of not having them was almost unbearable.

-Along with that obsession, I have a problem with wearing the same shirts too frequently... and my pants.. and all my clothes actually.  I rotate all my clothes based on the last time worn, so I have to pick from the front of the closet to wear something that hasn't been worn in a while.  If it doesn't get worn within 6 months, it goes in the donate pile.  I should probably apply that to my pants.

-I want to pack kinda, but its hard since Teh MD Roomies are staying and we have to separate all our stuffs and IDK where to put all my things and I'm still not sure what I need to keep with me and OMFG MOVING IS HARD!!  Also, if you didn't see MacKensie's post about looking for a place to live, you're missing out.  Hiiiiilarious and accurate in all the ways.

-We still don't have a place to live in SC yet.  1 month from now is our flexible arrival date (and then I'll come back to MD for a monthish and then officially move down).  Meaning we need to agree on a place to live and make it happen within the next two weeks.  Actually, tomorrow would be good too since we also need to schedule my packout delivery.  YAY for helpful friends who are making the process easier!!!!

-I have enjoyed the storms that have rolled though this week, despite the spazzy dogs and minimal car wash, since I'm on duty this week and have ZERO desire to go back into work at 11pm.

-The power company in SoMD has a thing where you can average all your power bills and pay that amount each month rather than a low bill in April and October and high bills in December and July.  That's cool.  Except that last year they were using the average for my apartment, not my townhouse.  The difference is pretty significant but the problem wasn't brought to light until this past January.  Meaning for a year they were using the average for my old address.  It was fine pre-August 2013, I didn't really go over the average amount on my own, but apparently with 2 people living here and it being hot as balls then cold as.. balls? the power bill went well over the average that I had been paying.  The only reason I even realized it was that I saw December's bill of over $300 and I almost flipped my shit when it actually said something like $500 (because that was the accumulation of all the overages).  And then January was over $250.  All that to say, Sugar Momma Teh Megan is left with all that overage to pay and it makes my checking account really sad.

-Humpday confessions is the only linkup I participate in where I make it a point to visit other bloggers who link up.  Sometimes, I even try to go to everyone's page.  I rarely click through the weekend wrap-up linkers unless I recognize them and the Friday link ups depend on how busy I am.  But Wednesday?

-*I talked to Teh Pirate Gone Marine yesterday who made a comment about particular final gifs I had used in weeks prior.  It reminded me I had more to use.

Weekend Wrap Up {7-14}

Friday

This happened Friday afternoon:
Teh MD Teenage Roomie: What?  No Friday post?
Teh Megan: Nope, I was busy resume writing and I actually applied for a job in Charleston, so I mean, it was the worth sacrifice?
Teh MD Teenage Roomie: Maybe.
Did I mention how much Teh Roomies rock?

That conversation pretty much sums up my entire Friday actually, but since you weren't there, I'll tell you all about it, since that's how this works!

Friday morning I managed to make it into work with my "found" ID.  The problem with the "found" ID is that it doesn't work in the computers and that I probably shouldn't still have it.  Friday morning I got a new ID card.  If you've followed Teh Blog for a while, you may know that I always take it as a challenge to get ridiculous ID photos.  I think I succeeded this time (which will hopefully be my last ID card).  I'm not really sure why my face is so red, but ZOMG all the teeth!  I can't even wait to see what the gate guards say about this one.

After getting my ID, I was able to get on the computer.  I was busy doing work things because apparently no one else got the no-work-Friday memo that I get every week and I was networking with a friend who was helping with my resume.  She found a position with her company, but based in Charleston, that she said I was totally capable of doing, even though I had discounted it as something I couldn't do.  I really love having such encouraging and motivating friends, it makes all the difference in the world.  I formally applied for the job after my Friday gym session.  I feel so accomplished and proud and professional and shit.  Now if I would/could just rewrite my resume for some of the other positions I've found and apply, that'd be grrrrreat.

Oh, and to add to the list of reasons why I have the best roomies:

They bought me this shirt because of my hangar problem.

Instead of going to the River Concert Friday evening, we fumbled through dinner (because I failed at sending the grocery list), and then Teh MD Adult Roomie and I went to Dick's and Kohl's while Teh MD Teenage Roomie was at practice.  I tried on a hydration belt.  I have a feeling I'll be purchasing one of those in the near future, uggghhh..  I'm just not "runner" enough for a hydration belt... waaahhh.  Don't want.  I did want 1 of the 12ish bras I bought at Kohl's to fit.  I got to return them all, but I tried again and had some successes.  Boobs are tricky.  Seriously.

After we all got back home, we hung out and worked on the puzzle we started earlier in the week.

After staying up till way too late, we finally headed to bed.

Spooning with Miley is one of my favorite things.

Saturday

The dogs slept in until 0630 on Saturday.  Normally, they are up at 0500, so this was an awesome thing.  Teh MD Adult Roomie and I got up and fed them and instead of going back to bed, we played on the internet for a bit instead of going on the runs we both had said we were going to do.  Finally, we motivated each other to just go on a walk together instead of running.  We were able to commit to that.

After our walk, we got ready and headed to GHC for Miley's adoptathon.  As sad I am to see her go, I know that she is going to be in excellent hands and she was already being fawned over and they had just decided on her.  She will be staying with us for another week so she can get a dental done, but she will be leaving us next Saturday, so it's going to be a bittersweet week.  We came home with Miley and had to fight off the urge to nap so we could be productive instead.  Teh MD Adult Roomie and I went out and picked up a yard sale item we'd been looking for and balloons and birthday cake for the evening's festivities.  When we got back, I had considered washing cars, but dealing with teenagers in the evening warranted a nap, which was deeeelightful.

After a successful birthday party, we headed back home to wind down andddddd we completed the puzzle!

She's pretty special.
I'm going to miss these ladies!

All finished!
Yes there were missing pieces since this was a used puzzle.
It was also decided that the next puzzle we do will not be sketched.  It will be an actual photo with actual defined lines for the objects.

Sunday

After the Meri woke me up at 0615, I laid in bed telling myself I should go run since I hadn't the day prior.  It was early enough.  I could put in some serious miles.  I should do it.  I could do it.  After 30 minutes of debate, I finally got up and did it.
Whew.  Done.

9.6 miles, 1 hr 41 mins, 10:32 pace

It was pretty humid, but the temps were in the low 70s when I started and there was a breeze.  It's amazing what a difference shade and a breeze can make.  I probably could have picked up my pace some, but I knew I was adding some miles, so I didn't want to wear myself too early in the game.  I actually ended up picking the pace towards the end for 2 reasons.  I needed to make it to church in time and because I wanted to push out the end.  I would have went for 10 miles if I hadn't been pressed for time.  Maybe next time.

I did end up making it to church on time, which was good since Teh MD Teenage Roomie went with me.  YAY!  Our afternoon plan originally included a boat ride to Vera's for lunch, but after some technical difficulties, we ended up going to Vera's sans the boat ride.  I had never been and it was pretty delicious.  Of course, my food was spicy and despite Teh MD Adult Roomie and I ordering the same thing, her's wasn't spicy.  I'm super sensitive, it's obnoxious.  After lunch, we came back home and relaxed for the evening.  I probably should have packed something or cleaned something or did something productive.. but instead I wrote this blog post.  You're welcome, Teh MD Teenage Roomie.

Ok, maybe I'll go put away my laundry and pull out my suitcases and call it done.

Oh for the grand finale, check out what we found earlier this week when we woke up...
Good talk door, good talk.

Also, did you know sighthounds are stackable?

Humpday Confessions #12

Short weeks spoil me for long weeks that seem to go on and on and on and onnnnnn.

Vodka and Soda

Confessions:

-I bought local honey from a stand on the side of the road recently and it was $11 for a pint sized mason jar and I was like WTF so 'spenive!  Then we opened it and I tried it and OMG WORTH ITTTTT.  It tastes like flowers kinda and was the perfect sweetness.  I hadn't had "real" honey since I was a little girl and OMG, I hope to never have to buy store honey again... EVER.  Side note: I had a quart jar of PA honey when Teh Bear was here, but he took it back to FL with him, since he was the tea drinker, and left me with the crappy store honey.  Le sigh.

-A sure way to piss me off?  Ask me for the same information over and over and over and over, rather than just save it the first or second or third time I send it to you.  Redundancy makes me irate.

-I saw Teh Blog on someone's reading list last Wednesday and I might have done a little dance.  Followers..

-There were no gifs in last week's confessions and I felt like a failure.. but I went to bed early instead.  Sorry not sorry.

-Link-up "rules" are stupid.  That's why Kathy's link-up is the best evar of all the link-ups.  No follow me and all your hosts, no comment on the person before you, no "I'm gonna check and make sure you're following or I'll delete your link", I mean some people don't even post confessions who link up and those links even stay there (I'm only kinda complaining about this, but that's the blogger's fault, not the host)..  Ain't nobody got time for that shit.  So yeah, Kathy rocks, if you weren't already aware.

-The E-2 sounds like a swarm of bees and it makes me irrationally angry when I hear it running outside the hangar.  The roar of the F-35 also makes me irrationally angry, but then again, when they blast past my house, rattling my windows, I feel like I'm justified.  This girl does NOT (heart) jet noise.

-It annoys me when people, primarily women, of course, comment how awful they look in a photo, especially if they aren't the primary focus in the photo.  I've been reading a lot of articles recently about women and body image and rights and stuffs like Hobby Lobby and Verizon commercials (watch it here) and women empowerment in general; I even read one on men and body image!  I just want to shake people, again, primarily women, and be like YOU ARE YOU!  Stop demeaning yourself!  Stop being so hard on yourself!  In the grand scheme of things, how bad you THINK you look is only hurting YOU!  If you are ashamed of the way you look, fix it, it's that simple.  You can't go on a run or a walk?  Go swimming, it is (currently) summer time...  You don't have time?  You don't have the money?  There's 10 minute workout videos on youtube for FREE.  Unless you have some type of actual disfigurement, stop hating your body (not to say if do have an actual disfigurement you should body hate, but you might have a reason to be a bitter-pants).  It's the only body you have, be proud of it.  It's gotten you through so many things.  It's an amazing, adaptable thing and it works for YOU.

-While I'm on the soapbox, seeing kids with no self-confidence makes me infuriated.  I get it that some kids are shy, but I feel like every kid should have a cheerleader.  To cheer them on when they do stupid shit and when they do incredibly genius shit and the gamut in between.  That's the thing about being a kid, everything is new.  Yes, there are wrong answers, but getting them wrong is a learning experience.  When I see a girl with her arms wrapped around her waist and she's hunched over, practically folded into herself because she's self-conscious or shy or defensive about being where's she at, I want to shake her and tell her she needs to be proud of herself and carry herself with dignity and to not be afraid or defensive about whatever situation she's in.  I'm just saying... confidence, have some.

-I get irrationally angry when someone uses the term "girl" for women or lady or female.  I feel like girl is something that describes a female that is under the age of 18.  At 18, you can become a lady.  At some point in your 20s you become a woman.  When describing females in college as "college girls" I can feel my blood start to boil.  Women in college aren't girls, even if they act like they are 13.  And the Navy taught me that when woman is just too awkward, "female" is always appropriate.

-Sometimes, I forget that not everyone is/has been in the military.  A FB friend gave away a True Blood spoiler on FB and then this went down:

All I could think of was my own experiences where I wasn't able to keep up when I wasn't living in the US.  When I couldn't play certain YouTube videos because I wasn't in the "right" country, when I emailed ABC to tell them I was stationed overseas and couldn't keep up with Grey's because there was a country block on Bahrain, when the bandwidth in GTMO was so limited it took 15 minutes to load a 2 minute YouTube video, so trying to stream an hour long TV show was out of the realm of possibility.  I thought of my friends who would have been PISSED if I had given away the spoilers to their favorite show when they were stationed in the Sand Box.  I still haven't seen the final seasons of HIMYM because it's not on Netflix and I don't watch television in real time, nor do I have a DVR.. and I was IN America when that aired.

Bottom line, friends don't give away spoilers on social media, no matter how many hours/weeks/months/years ago the episode/season aired.  It's just the right thing to do.  If I were to read articles about the show that gave away spoilers, that's my own fault.

That is not to say that you shouldn't post about current episodes on FB, but a general NOOOOOOO!!!!!! will suffice, rather than saying so and so was killed.  I'd rather vaguebook with a tag that I'm watching a show so more people would be interested in watching it so we can discuss it than just lay it all out there as a status.

That's just me.

-I was pulled over on Sunday morning after church and then this happened:
State Trooper (ST): Good morning.  How are you doing?
Me: Good morning.  Well, I was doing pretty good, but now I'm not sure anymore.
ST: *Laughs* Well, why not?  Do I look like a scary guy?
Me: Well..  I don't think I look scary, but plenty of people say I'm mean.
ST: *Laughs* I pulled you over this morning because you were going 64 in a 45.
Me: But it's 50 there, not that that really helps my case.
ST: It doesn't change to 50 until after you passed where I was parked.
Me: Touche.
ST: If I could just get your license and registration.
*I hand him my stuff and he goes back to his car and comes back a minute or two later.*
ST: So, here you go.  I just gave you a warning this time because you are in a good mood.
Me: OMG thank you so much!  I'd give you a hug right now, but that's probably inappropiate.
*ST laughs and explains the information on the ticket to me and warns me that he and his friends were out all day and to slow down.*
Me: I'm coming from church, so lets just say the spirit was moving me, but I'll definitely tame that spirit a bit.
ST: *Laughs* Have a good day.

If I wasn't his best "customer" all day, I'm disappointed in myself.  I'm not sure if it was my charming personality or my big boobs (which were completely covered) but I'm grateful for a warning ticket.  I proudly displayed it on the fridge when I got home.  The power of laughter goes a long way.

-Monday night I ate dinner at 5pm and stayed up past my 9pm bedtime to putting together a 1000 piece puzzle with Teh MD Roomies.... soooo I'm pretty much 90.

-I might have published this on Tuesday morning because I was 100% positive it was Wednesday and I couldn't figure out why Kathy hadn't posted the link up by 0630.  I stalked her page for at least 30 minutes before I realized I was a day early.  Obviously humpday confessions is my favorite blog post of the week.
