Never Ever Have I Ever

I saw this post on Erin's blog, then Kimmi's, and I thought that it was a perfect not Monday/Wednesday/Friday prompt!  Granted, I'm not sure what the time frame on this is, so I decided to make it in my entire life.  So, truly, "Never have I ever.."  I did make some changes and added some locations because I felt the world wasn't properly represented.  #notsorry

Drinking is optional for this game session.. ;)

(X) Shot a gun
Yes, more please.  I even owned a gun for a few short weeks.  Too bad it wasn't the correct gun, so I sold it.
Bang bang

() Gone on a blind date
I mean, I did online dating, is that kinda the same thing?

(X) Skipped school
I was also allowed to sign all my own forms in high school and write my own excuses.

() Watched someone die
I'm not looking forward to the day.

(X) Been to Canada
More than once.  That's the benefit of having family in NY who live close to the border.

() Been to Hawaii
One day.

(X) Been to Cuba
Well, I went to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, so technically I was there.  Yet, we weren't allowed off base, so no going into Cuba for this girl, sadly.

NE Gate that separates the base from Cuba

(X) Been to Europe
Yep, Scotland in 2012 and Germany (+hopefully at least one more country) in June!

() Been to South America
Is it sad that I'm not really interested?  Maybe if it was somewhere like Brazil, but idk.

() Been to Las Vegas
One day

() Been to Central America
Again, lack of interest

() Been to Asia
One day.

() Been to Africa

(X) Been to Florida
Ft. Lauderdale, St. Augustine, Orlando area.
PS.  I hate Florida... except for Disney World.

(X) Been to Mexico
Pulled in for a day on a cruise.  Went to a tourist trap city.  Had some street tacos.  Bought some Cuban rum (that I later found at Total Wine).  Check.

(X) Been to the Pacific Realm
Perth and Sydney, Australia in 2012.

Sydney Opera House

(X) Been to the Middle East
2010-2011: Bahrain, please never again unless it's Egypt or somewhere I won't be sold for a ransom.

left to right from the balcony of my flat in Bahrain:
Financial Center, Grand Mosque, World Trade Center

(X) Seen the Grand Canyon in person
It's a big ditch that gave me an elevation headache.  Cool, but check.

Big Ditch

(X) Flown in a helicopter
TWICE.  The first time,  I was told I could unbuckle after we were in the air (I didn't) and when we banked left, my door flew open.  Kid Teh Megan would have been a splat in a forest somewhere in Tennessee and she obviously made #goodlifechoices
The second time was in a MH-60S and I actually got to steer the helo for a bit towards a target bouy as if we were in a rescue scenario (the helo is used for search and rescue (SAR)).  It was my 2nd to last day official working day of active duty.

() Served on a jury
Please no.

(X) Been lost
I'm directionally challenged.  It's no secret.

(X) Traveled to the opposite side of the country
A few times.  The first time was a road trip with Teh Granny from Home, Home, NC to Seattle, WA and back.  We stopped in Big Sky, Montana for a few days of vacation and spent a day at Yellowstone.

Artist's Way, Yellowstone National Park

(X) Visited Washington, DC
Living an hour meant MANY DC trips.  For a proper DC trip though, you need to ride the Metro at least once.

Lincoln Memorial

(X) Swam in the ocean
Atlantic.  I've touched the Indian and Pacific Oceans and both sides of the Atlantic.

(X) Cried yourself to sleep
I want to know the secret to people who haven't.

(X) Played cops and robbers

(X) Played cowboys and Indians

() Recently colored with crayons
I recently colored with colored pencils... does that count?

(X) Sang karaoke
Everyday is a concert for me.

(X) Sang a solo or duet in church
With Teh WJL actually.

(X) Paid for a meal with coins only
College was a tough time.  #nojudgement

(X) Made prank phone calls
I always chickened out and laughed and didn't get to hang up and would talk to whoever answered the phone, since I usually prank called my friend's houses.

() Laughed until some beverage came out of your nose

(X) Caught a snowflake on your tongue
Every single possibility.  To include that one time that it snowed in Charleston in January.

Snow at the beach in MD

() Had children

(X) Had a pet
I consider my pets my children.

(X) Been skinny-dipping
At the beach with Teh Sister, Teh Mom, and Teh Granny.  #rebels the lot of us.

(X) Been fishing
I thought this was a no until I remembered that one time in middle school when I went deep sea fishing on a trip and I ended up green in the gills and below deck laying on a bench praying I wouldn't vomit everywhere and wishing we could cut this fishing trip short.

(X) Been boating
I like em fast, fast and speedy.. and with a raft on the back.

(X) Been downhill skiing
Why downhill skiing?  Just skiing.  Yes.  And this one time, I was peer pressured up to a black diamond (that's the hardest level) and ended up getting the most badass sled ride down the mountain when I couldn't ski down it on my own.  It kinda made it worth it.

(X) Been water skiing
Once, I was under the age of 10 and if age 30 Megan's grace and abilities are any indication as to what Child Megan's skills were, you'll know this didn't go well at all.

(X) Been camping in a trailer/RV
Teh NY Grandparents had a camper (RV) and we often "camped" in the summers when we'd go up and visit.

(X) Been camping in a tent
Teh Dad seemed to love doing this.  We lived on a huge plot of land and sometimes we'd drive to the unoccupied cow fields and camp by the stream and we'd have to pee in the barn and I absolutely hated the bugs and lack of indoor plumbing, but I did eventually master my marshmallow roasting abilities.

(X) Driven a motorcycle
Mike Wazowski and I have had some adventures and Teh German has been talking about getting a new bike, which means that I inherit Suzi and he gets a new bike, which I'm ok with.

Mike Wazowski

() Been bungee-jumping
I kinda want to do this, but I kinda don't.  Seems like less of a good idea the older I get.

(X) Gone to a drive-in movie
The movie theater in GTMO was outside, so you could actually sit in your car and watch.

(X) Done something that could have killed you
That should probably be something(SSSSS)  #NBD

(X) Done something that you will regret for the rest of your life
I try not to have regrets, to instead make everything a lesson, but yet, there are a few instances that I ignored my gut and did things anyways and they didn't turn out well.

(X) Rode an elephant
Yep, IRL.  Teh Sister did too.

() Rode a camel
Despite being in Bahrain, this didn't happen.

(X) Eaten just cookies or cake or ice cream for dinner
I've also eaten just any of these things for breakfast as well.  #Adultingdoneright

(X) Been on TV
I actually had one of those spots at Christmas where the soliders are wishing their families back home a happy holidays when I was stationed in GTMO.

() Stolen any traffic signs

(X) Been in a car accident
Yes, and to Teh Dad: THIS MAKES ME WISE.

() Been in the hospital in past 24 months
Praise Allah.

(X) Donated blood
Once and a half.  I did it the first time in high school and it felt like they were stealing my blood from me by the end.  I tried again after bootcamp and that same blood sucking feeling got me and I told them to take it out.  Since then, no I haven't.  Also, I go through periods of ineligibility due to overseas assignments/travel and body modification.

() Gotten a speeding ticket in the past 12 months

(X) Gotten a piercing
Daith and rook and they are doing quite well.

(X) Gotten a Tattoo
3.  I really want another, but I have to be certain on it for at least 6 months before I get it and I keep redesigning and moving it around my body.  I believe my next definitive tattoo will be something running related with the total number of miles ran at Disney in 2016.

Matching sister tattoo:
Origami bird with rainbow water splatter

(X) Driven a manual transmission vehicle
Yep, my "first vehicle" was Teh Mom's Ford F150 which was a manual and even with the seat all the way up, I could barely get the clutch down.  It was disasterous.  Then Kaar was also a manual, which wasn't a problem until I lived in Raleigh and rush hour traffic.  Teh German's car is a stick, so I like driving it every now and then.  Nonetheless, I'm glad that Yurtle is an automatic 100% of the time.

Teh Kaar

(X) Ever owned your dream car
I dreamed about Yurtle for several months when I was in Bahrain and she is good to me and I love her and I wouldn't want another car.

() Been Married

() Been divorced

(X) Fell in love

(X) Fell out of love

() Paid for a strangers meal

(X) Driven over 100mph
Max speed: 120mph.  It was scary and there were other people in the car.  If I did it again, I'd be alone in the car for sure.

(X) Been scuba diving or snorkeling
The biggest thing I miss about GTMO: Diving.

Under the sea... da dada dum.

() Written a published book/story/poetry

() Eaten snails

PS.  All those photos were taken by me.  Photos of me are by Teh Dive Buddy, Teh Humanitarian, Teh WJL, Teh Bear, former coworkers, or random strangers.

  1. Snails in garlic butter are better than sea urchin sushi. Just saying. You can go really fast on the autobahn. So much fun! Snorkeling may be Florida's redeeming factor. 44 years of living there make me feel this. LMAO

  5. I loved reading this and getting to know you more. :)

Dude, you're gonna be jealous when you see all the diving pictures when I'm away in July. It's one of the best things in the world, no? Suspended in space..it's a hard to describe feeling. My dream is to swim with whale sharks some day.

I love your tattoo!! I want a something similar to the splatter, almost like water color? I've seen some pretty slick ink that look like watercolor paintings, they're so pretty and it's strange I say pretty but I'm not a "pretty" kind of girl, you know?

Have a great weekend girl! Xo

Love that your skinny-dipping experience was with the people you listed.
I got all the warm fuzzies thinking about your tv spot from Gitmo.
