Five on Friday #143

EINS - Random things

-I haven't cleared out my Feedly in approximately 1 mabillionty days.  I have a feeling the time is coming.  PREPARE YOURSELVES FOR COMMENTS (if I follow you).

-The cleaner came the Monday before Teh Running Bestie came to town and I was pleased that most of our shit was still in the "correct" place.. untillllll I noticed that soooooooooo many things weren't actually cleaned.  AND THEN I noticed that there was orange mold growing in my sink and my shower which means that they haven't been being properly cleaned because that shit doesn't grow that quickly when it's not a mabillionty degrees outside.  Sooo, I'm going to have a chat with my cleaners and it's essentially me putting them on notice because I don't like paying for shit that I don't get.

-It's Cadet Weekend or something at The Citadel and I'm planning on coming to campus on a weekend, while lots of other people are here, to attend an event.  I'm actually kind of excited about it.  I wasn't really active in campus activities when I was at NCSU and part of me is ok with that and part of me feels like I really missed out.  So, I'm going to try this out.  If it's too peopley, I'll leave.  I'm most excited to see the parade from campus to Marion Square and possibly check out the barracks since non-cadets are not allowed in the barracks.

-Leadership Day is today and there is no class and I am so glad.  Having a short week after coming back from Spring Break is never a bad thing.  Additionally, I feel like a bag of ass today, so I'm just not in the mood for... life.

-I'm getting my hairs did this afternoon.  I'm thinking I'm going to do something crazy.  Especially since the last time we dyed my hair, it wasn't really obvious.  I ain't paying money for people NOT to notice.  And by people I mean me.  I didn't even notice.  #Fail

-Meri has been extra adorable recently in "her" $500 "dog bed".  She likes to peer up over the edge of the chair while she's laying in it and it just melts my wine-chilling heart.  PS.  The chair is turned backwards (it swivels and it's on wheels, so it's not difficult) so Meri and Pax can't play on it.  They are just too rough for my brain to handle that.

-Every morning and afternoon (and probably all day), Meri and Pax play.  It's not uncommon for there to be barking and yipping and growling.  It's when it's quiet in the house that I get nervous.  This is why being a DogMom is also being a Mom.  I'd say I have the benefit that my kids don't talk back, but they doooo, oh they dooo.  PAXIMUS.

-I made a few more reservations to make for our honeymoon!  I need to figure out a place to stay in San Fransisco and where to stay in Sydney and we're completely set.   I am also debating travel insurance because we've shelled out so much for this trip and because the dive adventure we're going on suggests having dive/trip insurance.  Mostly, I need to check and see that my insurance covers scuba diving accidents and I can just focus on trip insurance.  I hate being adulty.

-I'm listening to Year of Yes by Shonda Rhimes (Grey's Anatomy) and I lurve it.  More than I should.  I'm pretty sure Shonda and I are spirit animals, except that sometimes she gets more excessively wordy than I would.  But we think so similar AND she calls readers of her book GENTLE READERS!!!!!!!  Glad I started using that before 2015 when she wrote her book!

-When you and your bestie are #twinning and you didn't plan it!

-I ran the i5k yesterday and it was... ok.  It was a good run and there's beer and pizza at the end (although I'm not interested in the beer and the pizza was from a place that I don't think is all that great) and people dress up in costumes and it's just fun.  Except that it is mostly groups from sponsoring tech companies so if you aren't affiliated with a large group, you kinda feel like an outsider (me).  Nonetheless, I got a medal for it, which I hadn't known we would get.  I pulled out superhero Stitch for a run with a group of nerds and apparently, I was just a weirdo with a bra on my head (granted, this isn't untrue).  A photographer did single me out for a photo, so I'm hoping it shows up on the internet eventually.

-Dear Evanescence,
We get it.  You put out some good songs in 2003.  Congrats.  Making new versions of those same songs is lazy.  #JustSayin.

-I may be taking an unnecessary calculus class because the degree requirements for Computer Science changed and MY ADVISOR DIDN'T FUCKING TELL ME LAST SEMESTER.

ZWEI - Money spent

  • GEGR picnic reservation
  • Power bill + rejected card fee (grumble grumble grumble)
  • Various bills (cell phone, sewer)
  • A whole bunch of shit from Amazon (retail therapy is real)
    • New shirts, since I gave some of the ones I ordered to Teh Running Bestie and I returned a few items, as I said I would.
    • Replaced most of my Superhero Stitch outfit since I had slowly donated stuff (#PoorLifeChoices)
    • And some shit for Teh PT Wife, which she purchased using my card by accident and paid me back.  We're blaming her meds.
  • Cleaners
  • Cookout milkshakes
  • New SC license which is REAL ID compliant (because I live in a state that probably still considers succession from the Union)
  • New Stingrays hoodie for Teh German (a solid impulse buy since he already commented on how comfy it is, #BestWifeEver)

DREI - Things from my phone

At least Meri's bad haircut didn't have to go out in public.
I definitely told this guy he needed to get his shit straightened out.

Company had a happy hour event on Monday and Teh German came by and I thought he'd want to play darts, but he wasn't into it.  Since they had already put him/us on the board, I fixed our scores.

I see a Monkey-Doodle!

Carrot cake cupcakes from Roux's Humom didn't hurt my feelins' none.
Additionally, it served as our "vegetable" for dinner and dessert.

Wore my new woot shirt.
Asked Teh German to take a picture.
He made sure to get the worst picture possible.
He was proud that it looked like I was holding my boobs.

What did the tree say to spring?
What a re-leaf.

VIER - Things from the Internet

-Sometimes, to feel less lost, you just need to know you're included and important, even if you aren't sure why.

You HAVE to put on your oxygen mask before you can help anyone else put on their oxygen mask.  It's science.

If you can't quit social media (don't worry, me either), you can maybe implement some of these things to be less influenced by social media.  As an ad-hider, I get it.  I still hope that Facebook thinks I'm interested in nothing at all...

Me on Thursday morning listening to my audiobook.

I've always been like this.

  1. Being a dog mom is a lot like being a kid mom. Now I want more Cadbury eggs... minus the Tide ha.
