Weekend Review {3/19}

FRIDAY

Since there was no school, I went to work in the AM.  I met Teh Running Bestie and Teh Chief Smartass for lunch and then we went to Waterfront Memorial Park to walk the pier and then walk to the top of the bridge.  Turns out, Teh German was right that there is a path from the pier parking to the bridge.  That's always the worst.  Him being right, not that there was a shortcut.

Check out this awesome shirt that Teh Running Bestie got me!
It says, "Very Hangry Caterpillar"
She gets me.

Mandatory Bridge Selfies!

After we got home, I fought the desire to nap and instead we headed outside to defuzz Meri.  It was a painful process that took 2 peanut butter kongs, a lot of persistence, and an assistant (Teh Running Bestie).  Again, I nicked Meri's ear, so I'm officially hanging up my clipper and Meri will be going to the groomer from here out.  Before her haircut, she just looked homeless.  Afterwards, she looked homeless and like she'd been living on the streets with mange, scuffling with the other strays.

Lionhead Meri.... LOOOOOOOL

After Meri's haircut, I carried her upstairs and we took a shower, which added insult to injury (literally, with the ear thing).  Because her hair had been so fine, it had been difficult to cut and it was everywhere and I figured a shower for both of us was the easiest way to remedy that situation.

After the torture session was over, the beasts were fed and the humans headed to watch the Stingrays play.

Sadly, we lost, but we only lost by 1 point, as compared to the 4 points we'd lost by the prior night.  The game was super physical, and Pax Romana is what I go for.

After the game, we headed home and hung out and eventually went to bed.

SATURDAY

Saturday we didn't have any plans until the evening, so we decided to go to Sesame for lunch and then check out the H.L Hunley, which Teh German and I had never been to (it was on our "last resort of things to do" list).  It was actually pretty interesting and I've decided I need to go full circle in my life and be a museum docent when I get older.  I want to be as awesome as our tour guide.  This is full circle since my first job was as a tour guide for a historical home.

The sub was recovered in the 90s and is being conserved and researched in Charleston.

Brenda spoke slowly and with a Southern drawl that I know so well.
I can see growing up to be like her.

Teh German has finally just come to grips with always taking a picture at these with me/us.
#ResistanceIsFutile

This is a mock of the inside of the sub.  It actually had to be "rowed", which is what my feet are on.

After the tour, we came back home and Teh Running Bestie and I took her beasts to Pet Supplies Plus to have their toes cut off (toenails cut).  After practically maiming myself to ensure one of the 4 dogs didn't escape, they wouldn't cut the toenails because we didn't have the rabies certificates.  The tags wouldn't do.  I was so unbearably pissed.  When we got home, I iced my head for no less than 30 minutes and hoped the nauseous feeling would go away sooner rather than later.  I'm pretty sure I was concussed.

Originally we were going to make dinner, but no one was hungry, so instead we had a snack and then some of Teh Cool Kids came over for some Cards Against Humanity.

Coincidental for Preggers Dental Hygienst to have to read this card.
But we made sure to give her good options.
PS.  Loading from a previous save was my contribution.
Apparently, I was too nerdy for everyone else.

Enough adult chocolate milk later, my head was feeling ok, the nausea had mostly passed, and I didn't lose CAH.  The world was right.

SUNDAY

Sunday morning, Teh Running Bestie and I got our asses out of bed and went on a run.  We had talked about running the bridge, but it is ok that we didn't.  After finishing up 2.3 miles, we arrived home and stretched and showered.

We had reservations at Hall's for the Gospel Brunch with the Cool Kids from game night.  We made these reservations in January when Teh Running Bestie was in Charleston last.  I don't know what kind of crack was on the bacon, but if I could just get a lifetime supply fo free, plskthx.

Tiny Tabasco!

Daintily applying his hot sauce.

Perfect spring day.

Palmetto State.

After we got home, Teh Running Bestie and Teh Chief Smartass headed back north.  Teh German went riding with some of the Biker Gang.  I stayed home and played games on my phone (thanks Microsoft for your Cards Suite which has eaten up my life) and took a nap.  Eventually, I got up and started to start doing homework (yep, that's a thing) and got derailed by cleaning up my office.  After the office was sufficiently organized, I sat down to do some homework.  Fortunately, it didn't take that long.

We were still pretty full from brunch, so we snacked on leftovers in the fridge for dinner and watched a few episodes of Vikings before calling it a night.

^^look at these cute beasties.  /swoon

______________________________________________

And now I'm back to the school/work grind.  It's been rainy, so I've been the lone splash of color, puddle splashin' in my rainboots around campus.  #likeaboss

This week holds:
-A calculus test
-No class on Friday (thank you, sweet baby Jesus).
-Gettin' my hairs (re)did on Friday.
-i5k on Thurs evening.  I'm dressing up as Superhero Stitch because comic book characters ain't got shit on Disney superheros (although all the Marvel super heroes are actually Disney heroes now).

It's the Citadel's 175th birthday this week, and they are having some special events on Friday/Saturday and I think I'm going to go be a supportive student and attend the events on Saturday.  If it's not raining, it seems like a solid reason to take Bagheera out.  She's in need of attention.

Also, I'm testing out Google Keep (which I had never heard of until I tried to sync my tasks to my phone Google Calendar unsuccessfully) and I'll get back to you on this.  I haven't decided yet if I like it or not.

I'm powering through some audiobooks like a MF-ing BOSS this week.  This is what happens when your audiobooks are less than 10 hours long.  It's GLORIOUS.

Teh PT Wife is having surgery today so positive thoughts/whatever you do when you think of people are appreciated.  She's also a control freak, so I'm going to bring my megaphone to her so she can boss her household around.  And ya know, she can yell at me from her house.

AND ALSO...
A high school in SoMD has been added to the list of "schools that have been shot up."  WHICH FUCKING SUCKS.  I like living in my oblivious little bubble where shitty shit that happens in the world doesn't affect me and mine.  That bubble has been popped.  The high school was within 1 mile of the NAS Patuxent River gate.  I had to text people I know and ask if their kid(s) were alright.

THIS IS NOT OK, PEOPLE.
I don't want to take your fucking guns.  In fact, I enjoy shooting them and I'd happily own one (again), but it's just not a priority for me right now.  That said, do I believe there needs to be stronger rules about ownership?  FUCK YES I DO.  Children and teenagers do not need to go to school in fear that some fucking crazy is going to shoot up a place where they should feel safe enough to learn.  We send kids to school to help them grow to be functional(ish) adults.  The only thing growing will be flowers on graves at this rate.

Keep your fucking guns.  I don't care.  But be open to stronger requirements to obtain a gun.  Because if you're as mentally competent as you claim to be, you don't have a damn thing to worry about.
