Poop Soup Recipe

I know, I know.. that title is a little off-putting.. butttttt this is a recipe for some fiberlicious soup that is delicious AND encourages some solid poops, thus the name.

Add some kale and this is what it would look like.

Ingredients:

-2-3 medium sized sweet potatoes
-1ish cup lentils
-1 lb Jimmy Dean Sage sausage
-1 onion
-a few cloves of garlic
-1 bunch of kale
-4-6 cups chicken broth/water+better than bouillon

Prep work

(this can be done while the sausage is browning if you have mad skillz/a helper/cook the sausage on low-med):
-dice onion
-cut up sweet potato into similar sized chunks (large/1-2 inch-ish chunks is fine)
-tear kale away from really thick stems (this is a personal preference as the thick stems are bitter and we don't like it)
-largely dice kale

Directions:

1.  Cook sausage in the bottom of a stock pot.
2.  When sausage is mostly cooked, add diced onion and "enough" garlic, cook until onion is translucent.
3.  When onion is translucent, add 4-6 cups of broth/water and bring to boil.
4.  Add 1ish cup of lentils, all the sweet potato, and all the kale.
5.  Reduce to simmering and let simmer until the sweet potatoes and lentils are completely cooked.

My comments:

-4-6 cups of broth/water: 4 cups if you like a thick soup, 6 cups if you like a more runny soup, adjust as preferred
-lentils: more if you really like lentils, but at least 1 cup
-sweet potatoes: we really like sweet potatoes, so I often use 2-3 large sweet potatoes.  The longer you cook it/the smaller your chunks, the more likely the sweet potato will turn to mush.  It is ok.
-sausage: Other flavors are fine, but if you use the sage variety, no other seasoning/flavoring needs to be added.
-cook time: I usually let my soup simmer for at least 30 mins.
-additions: I eat this soup as is.  I find it is exxxxxtttrrraa delicious as leftovers.  Husband likes to add hot sauce.
