Weekend Review {11/14}

FRIDAY

Because we didn't find out we weren't technically supposed to work on Friday, we were given the option to work or take PTO.  Since I usually flex my hours on Friday anyways, I sucked it up for half a day, then headed to the outlets to meet a group of motorcyclists.  We were going on a ride, but first was mexican for lunch.  After noms, we headed down towards Angel Oak, taking some pretty fun, yet rooty roads.  We stopped at the tree since a few people hadn't been there before and then we rode on.  We stopped again and a few people broke off.  I stayed with the group that ended up at Holy City Brewery.  I was super cool and ordered the pineapple soda.  Way better than beer.

Since Teh German was getting off work soon, I told him to meet us at the brewery for a few minutes, then we had to head home to meet Teh WJL.  I don't do so well at factoring in traffic delays, so Teh WJL waited on us for a while before we arrived home.  Oops.

Since it was Veteran's Day, we were going to try and take advantage of a discounted meal for dinner and had agreed to meet Roux's Humom and Mr. Golfer at Olive Garden at 6.  An accident on the way was going to delay everyone's arrival, so we detoured to Texas Roadhouse.  After finding out the wait was over an hour at both Texas Roadhouse and Olive Garden, we decided to head back to Sushi 101 since they didn't have a wait.  It was a debacle and we struggled to decide because we were all hungry.

Sushi 101 was a good choice for everyone.  After dinner, we headed home.  Roux's Humom and Mr. Golfer had agreed that Meri and Phil could come over and use their yard for business.  The concrete had been poured for the patio and driveway extension and we were told not to have the dogs on it for 24 hours, which meant going business on a leash, which is Meri's least favorite thing.  After socializing for a bit, we finally headed home.  Teh WJL and I stayed up until midnight chatting, while Teh German gave up and went to bed a little bit after we got home.

SATURDAY

Saturday was girl's day.  Teh German had plans with Mr. Golfer for a golf session in the AM and then he was helping in the kitchen to prepare for Cop Stop.  Cop Stop is a pretty cool idea where volunteers cook dinner for on-duty police officers.  While Teh German was occupied, Teh WJL and I got a slow start.  I was hungry, so we had to start with food.  We went to Mex 1 for lunch, then we went to get her ear pierced and her tattoo done.  After those painful and expensive activities, we headed to Target so I could grab some items from my list.

Just don't ask how much that earring cost.

Found this gem at Target.
I changed it to Dudes though, since it was also in the same aisle as the crayola items.

I was pleased at myself for sticking almost entirely to my list at Target!  We also made a pit stop at Ross across the street since why not and also I wanted to look for some House stuffs (baskets, shelves, frames).  I ended up buying a few things.

We started to head towards home and I got distracted by a trip to Lowes for magnets for a coozy holder on the side of the beer fridge and then by Joann's for fabric for a cushion for the bench, and Marshall's to look for those dog soup bowls I went on a mission for a few months ago and never found.  We were finally exhausted after all that and headed towards home.

When we got home, I discovered that a package I had been waiting on had finally arrived!  you see, what had happened was... I completed Erin's book challenge and she was going to give away 3 prizes.  I actually WON one of those!  I never win anything.  I was so pumped.  Then when I opened the package and read the card, someone start chopping onions.

A (book related) Christmas ornament to celebrate our first Christmas in our house

We were having dinner at the Cop Stop too, which was perfect since that meant I didn't have to cook.  Mr. Golfer had made cajun food, which meant that I could only eat about 1/2 of it since it was spicy.  There was a discussion at the table that I should just start saying that I'm allergic to pepper so maybe people would take me more seriously about my spicy food problem.  Maybe I might, but I just hate being that person.

This made us laugh.

^^Regarding that photo.  Teh German hadn't seen me get dressed and when he left for golfing he was wearing khakis and a polo shirt. When I showed up for dinner, we were both wearing Stingrays's shirts, jeans, and Chucks.  We definitely loled.  We didn't lol when they lost by 3 that same night.

We got to meet several of the officers on duty and I tried not to eat all the homemade banana pudding, but I considered it.  We agreed that next time we do Cop Stop, we'll have little cards printed out with our license plates on it to give to the officers in a dessert goody bag.  Remember us, but in a good way.

We ended up heading home by 9 to free the beasts (since the concrete had cured) and head to bed.

SUNDAY

After sleeping in, we finally all got up and headed to Five Loaves for brunch.  I was taking one for the team, since usually Five Loaves doesn't like me.  I like them, but often something about my order is messed up.  Only me.  This has been tested several times, so we tend not to go there, but this time, I vowed to order something safe.  Nothing spicy, nothing with eggs (because undercooked eggs are a thing here).  We ended up seeing Teh SC Teacher and Teh SC German while we were there.  PS.  I ordered the chicken and waffles.  So did Teh WJL and Teh German.  If they fucked it up, well.. I wasn't sure what I'd do.

Bestie Selfies

They didn't, it was great.  I was able to enjoy my meal.  After brunch, we headed back home.  Teh German tried to troubleshoot Teh WJL's signal lights issue while I went through her Lularoe stuffs and then went through photos after it was all cleaned up.  Teh German was unsuccessful by 4, so he gave up so Teh WJL could leave since she had to drive 5 hours back home.

After she left, Teh German and I were completely unproductive.  We had a HIMYM marathon.  We're up to season 6 now.  We ended on the episode where you have to figure out who's wedding Marshall and Ted are at.  Teh German actually asked me who's wedding it was and I had to tell him, "I'm sorry, I cannot answer that question at this time because I love you."  He didn't press the issue, but I'm pumped to know that he is just as confused as I was when I first saw it.

We did break a few times for dinner and to feed the dogs and let Meri out a mabillionty times.  Originally, Teh German had said he wanted to accomplish some house projects, but I think the rainy day made for a better lazy day instead.  I didn't even remind him of the house projects.

We ended up going to bed around 9.  As is my habit, once we were in the dark, I told Teh German my "secrets" from Thursday and being to-soon-ed by the world.  We'd both like to figure out why I've gone crazy and morphed into this person who can't stop thinking about a proposal.  In fact, I'm happy with our relationship now and I can't figure out why it matters so much, other than "society tells me I need this thing."  It just feels like a chicken shit excuse.

Also, when you are straight up told, "You were cool about it and now you're... this," stings a bit because he's right.  It didn't matter and it didn't matter and then an alarm went off in my head and never stopped.  Is this what people are talking about when they talk about a biological clock?  I'm over it.  I truly wish I could go back to not caring and not hoping that every event/surprise/thing could be a proposal, but something tells me that won't happen.

_____________________________
In summary, a very good weekend.  I am pumped I got to have some girl time with Teh WJL and that I'll see her again in a few months.  I ticked some items off the House/projects list, which is always a delight.

Goals for this week/next weekend include cleaning House, hit up at least 1 crossfit session this week and maybe run (or at least one of those things), attend the chili-cook off next weekend, not eat out too much (ugh), and accomplish some work tasks.

Paws crossed for a good week!

  2. Even though you had a lazy day of with a tv marathon, it still seems like your weekend was so full of great things! Well, let's be honest, a lazy day is a great thing too. Thanks for the shout out, and I'm so glad you appreciated the sentiment in your gift :)

  3. I'll be the odd one and say I don't think it's weird at all that you are thinking about a proposal. You are happy, you want it to last, and that's perfectly reasonable. Even if you said at one point you didn't care...people grow and change. I hope for the sake of the relationship y'all are able to get on the same page, but it kinda sounds like you are beating yourself up about it and that's not fair. You want what you want, and that's ok. At least you are being honest and open.
