Weekend Review {02/25}

FRIDAY

Friday was work, school, Facetime, work, gym, home, out, home.

I was super hungry, despite breakfast, at 1030, so I indulged in a snack. #YOLO

Because our teacher wasn't in class, she left a class exercise for us to do, we powered through that in about 15 minutes and I was at Teh German's company by 1135 to wait on our FaceTime date with Papa G.  Since Teh German had work to do, I sat at his desk (where he wasn't working) and "redecorated".  He did comment on the notes I left him, but he didn't say anything about the note on the bulletin board that says, "Nice butt."  I'm hoping he didn't see that one and it will stay up for a while because it's funny to me.  I also put hearts around our anniversary on his calendar and I made a birthday countdown for him.

Our Facetime consisted of being invited to a 30th anniversary party and me announcing that I will definitely be going to Germany in May for the study abroad.  Excitement all around.  After our chat, I headed back to work and finished up some things.  Teh German and I arrived to the gym at almost the same time, which meant we got to workout together, which is a pretty rare occurrence.

After the gym, we were invited to go to 2 Nixons to get ramen.  We met up with Teh Ginger Marine and Teh Optician and their friend.  As expected, everything was delicious.  Mushrooms on mushrooms on mushrooms was the theme (I made that up, but I mean, there were mushrooms in almost everything, which is right up my alley), and I was not disappointed.  After ramen, we went down the street to Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream, and it was, in fact, splendid.  I ordered the lemon flavor with a waffle cone.  It brought me great joy.  The lemon tang was the perfect contrast to the sweet cone.  Some of the other flavors seemed a little overly fancy.  I did try the cream puff flavor and it was just meh.

After ice cream, we headed home since Teh German had to work on Saturday.

SATURDAY

Saturday, Teh German got up at normal time and went to work, while I slept in without any fucks to give.  I've been playing "brown noise" during the night and I've been sleeping like a champ.  When I wake up, I'm AWAKE.  I don't feel like I need 5 more minutes, even though I often take "5" more minutes (because Teh German usually gets ready first (because he takes longer)).

While Teh German was at work, I powered through homework.  I was still working on homework when Teh German came home.  He had some fish tank tasks to take care of, so while I finished up homework, he did that.

After I finished with homework, I swindled Teh German into (finally) drilling holes for my extra medal rack hooks.  I got these hooks from the vendor's booth in November at the Route 66 race expo in Tulsa.. so this was definitely one of those projects that had been put off and off and off and it was getting on my nerves so I was going to do it myself... and then magically Teh German said he'd do it.

I did lose my temper on him after I explained for the mabillionth time what needed to be done, which I don't feel bad about because I had literally explained it to him 10 minutes prior but he didn't bother to pay attention.  Really though, how do teachers do what they do?  I couldn't do it.

Anyways, to prep for that, I removed all the medals from my rack.  Curious, I went upstairs and weighed myself holding the medals and then without the medals.  The scale said all the medals weight 7.5 pounds.  I say more.  Teh German, with his mystery skill where he can accurately judge weights in metric and imperial said, yeah around 7.  This man has accurately guessed our luggage weight within ±1 pound multiple times.  Now it's a fun game we play when we travel.  I mean, we do also own a travel scale, but it's fun to have Teh German "weigh" the suitcase and then use the scale... often to prove him correct.

7.5 lbs of medals.
This does not include any of the Disney medals, which have their own special box.

Room fore more!!

After the medal rack task was complete and fish tank tasks were done, we sat around on the couch for a little bit, me asking Teh German what he wanted to do, since it was his birthday weekend.  He said he didn't want to do anything to celebrate and I asked why.  He didn't have an answer for me.  I announced that I had to plan all my own birthday weekend events and birthday day activities and birthday celebration things, and that I had counted on him planning his own, so I was refusing to plan things for him.  I also pointed out that if he thinks there is nothing to celebrate from the past year, he is wrong.

I listed off some of the big things that he had accomplished in the last year.  To include: learning to dive and getting open and advance water certified, diving the Great Barrier Reef, submitting the package for his green card ON HIS OWN, without the help of a lawyer twice, and it was accepted, he didn't kill me or divorce me when we almost didn't get to go on our honeymoon because of the Australian visa situation, he endured the absolute WORST month of my entire life when I took Calc 2 and remained supportive when I was completely distraught, he endured the shitty shit at his company, we made it through 1 year of marriage, we enjoyed our Snowcation, we passed the immigration interview, he did professional development things.. like a LOT of stuff to celebrate.

We laughed about the Australia visa thing (because we can now, even though all the laughter at the time was me nervous laughing so I wouldn't cry and Teh German was refusing to even speak to me) and I got some German noises about the other stuff.  I know that sometimes, it doesn't seem like a lot until someone else points it out to you, so that's what I was hoping me listing off all these things would do for Teh German.

All the while, Teh German had been on Yelp and decided that we should go to the Codfather for dinner.  He wasn't hungry quite yet, but we had a plan.  To kill some time, I finally acted on the fact that I could smell the dog beds (yuck) and the dogs were smelly and Meri was kinda matted, sooo it was dog cleaning day.

I took the covers from all the dog beds and threw them in the wash and I corralled the dogs in the bedroom for shower time, their least favorite of all things.  Meri was first and Meri hate, hate, hhhhhaaaatttteeeeeesss being wet.  She really is like a cat.  But she's so glad after the fact because she's floofy and rubs herself all over everything and is generally crazy.  Pax did NOT want to get into the shower and he leaned on me the entire time he got his "wet" massage, but he survived.  After the dogs were bathed, I washed off my new chest hair (thanks, Pax) and cleaned myself.

When I got out of the shower, I got ready and went downstairs.  Since we had some time, I asked Teh German if we could go by Sam's and get the groceries before dinner and he agreed.  Mostly, this was my way of avoiding people on Sunday.  It worked out since there was significantly less people at Sam's on a Saturday evening than during the day, any day.  After Sam's we headed to Codfather.  I didn't realize that Teh German hadn't been to the new location, but now that is fixed.

Unfortunately for him, I asked that we not go there anymore because the grease absolutely destroys my insides.  Having had Codfather 2 weekends in a row, I have confirmed this theory.  After dinner, we headed back home.

After we got home, we headed over to Teh PT House for socializing for a bit.  By 10:30, we were home and getting ready for bed.

SUNDAY

When Teh German had made the Codfather decision Saturday, he also suggested we go to the Jewish Deli for brunch on Sunday.  DUN.  We got up around 0830, I fed the beasts and we laid in bed for a short bit, just scrolling and snuggling with Meri.  Eventually, we got up and got ready and headed to breakfast.  Breakfast was delicious, just trust me.  There are no photos because I was hungry and I ordered my regular biscuit thing.. so you've seen that before, probably.

After breakfast, we stopped at Walmart for some house/grocery things.  We were able to get the items we needed at Walmart, which prevented us from having to go to Lowe's.  When we got home, we started up on house things.  I had considered taking a nap, but I had learned on Friday that there was ZERO reason that I hadn't donated the shit piling up in the closet since there was a donation box down the street from Company.  So while Teh German worked on reorganizing the garage, I worked on reorganizing the closet.

The entire hamper was donation stuff.  Bag in the floor were for putting donation stuff in.
Thanks to all those races for giving me all these reusable bags.

I got all the donation stuff into bags, put my wedding dress away (😭😭😢😢😭😢) in the first child closet (when Meri had decided the train of my dress was a good place to hide from me before bathtime, I almost went into cardiac arrest, thus prompting me to finally bag Lacy and put her in a safe place), went through my clothes one more time, and then reorganized the stuff that I had on the shelves and put some of the stuff from the shelves (race shirts, the dog's electric blankets) in storage (aka spare room closet).

After I got all the stuff packed into Willow, I went about the painful process of replanting the house tree.  I originally put it in a too-small pot, so I knew the day would come, but recently the leaves have all been dying.. and I wasn't sure why and a Googly search told me that it was overwatered... sooooo I fully shocked the tree by completely replanting it in a bigger container.  I ensured the soil wasn't so packed and there was drainage.  Or so I hope.  IDK, the soil was super dry and it was pretty windy (and HOT, ugh) outside, so I just kinda hoped for the best while trying to avoid being blinded by the dirt blowing in my face.

After the tree project was complete, I headed out back to scoop poop.  All the while, Teh German was in the garage, setting up a new shelf for the gardening "section" and taking the stuff from the top of the fridge and putting it on the empty shelves he had made room on.  He also finally added the stickers we've collected over the last few months to the beer fridge.  I'd consider this our spring cleaning.

When we were all done with house/outside projects, I plopped on the couch and let Meri love on me while I watched Grace and Frankie.  Teh German completely his fish take chemistry lab experiments.  After he finished that, he started working on dinner (steaks with brussel sprouts, which is his thing), and I eventually fed the beasts.

I also decided on putting one of the 9-pane windows in the downstairs bathroom, to ultimately put photos in, ya know.. one day.. But now I just need to purchase hooks to have Teh German put on the windows and something to hold the windows to the wall.  I'll also determine where to put the other window pane and get those hung and that will be one more thing out of the garage.. and one less hazard from hitting my car....

We ate dinner early, so we wouldn't have get back up from our perches on the couch.  After dinner, we watched The Office until it was bedtime.

______________________________________________

A very, unexpectedly, productive weekend.  I have a little bit of homework to do this week, stuff I had questions on that I need some assistance with, but everything I could do myself is dun, dun, dunnn.  I'm pleased that Teh German did a garage task he had wanted to tackle and I'm happy with finally getting the donations out of the house.  I dropped them off at the church this morning and it was very satisfying to shove all that shit into the box, even if it took a few trips.

This week includes:
-Submitting the paperwork for a German minor.
-Finding flights for Germany
-Going to the Chiro, since my visit on Friday was a no-go since my Chiro wasn't there.
-Teh German's birthday.  He said he doesn't want to do anything.  Fine.  But he better not bring it up later and say, "We didn't do anything..."
-Myrtle Beach (MB) Half Marathon on Saturday.  Teh PT Wife and I are leaving Friday to head up to MB.  We'll be back Saturday afternoon.  Our Husbands are acting like they are gonna party so hard all weekend while we're gone.  We informed them it was ONE night.  They seemed pretty crushed by that.  Weirdos.
-Apply for Germany scholarships

I love birthday month, but I'm not sad about how fast February has flown by.  The sooner this semester ends the better.  For the first time ever, I'm considering withdrawing from a class, but it might fuck up my final semester, so it's up for debate.  After getting a project grade back in my Cybersecurity class (a 40, the highest grade in our group), I'm really fucking over that class, but it's a requirement for the Cybersecurity minor that I stupidly signed up for, not knowing any better.  I guess it was a good idea at the time.  No, it wasn't a good idea at the time, but the computer science department was really pushing it, and it only required 1 extra class outside of major requirements (or maybe 2 classes, I can't remember), but it wasn't a super huge burden.. but it is now that I'm in the class and the adjunct professor is fucking garbage.

Five on Friday #184

EINS - Random Shit

-I thought about it.  I don't think my German teacher minds my enthusiasm, but she doesn't hold back with the red correction pen when the time comes, despite my efforts.  Also, why can I not figure out where the verb goes?!  Ugh.  Spoiler alert: I can't always figure it out because the placement of the verb changes depending on the sentence structure or certain words used at the beginning of a sentence.

-Sometimes I read articles about "things that will make your life easier".  I always close the tab feeling justified that I'm not sooooo needy in this regard.  That said.. if you need a pack of bra strap holders so you don't constantly have to pull your bra straps up, you're buying the wrong bras and/or you need to tighten the straps!  It's one thing if you're trying to convert to a racerback, but seriously, there is no excuse for droopy straps... And if there is, I'm listening.

-There was also an ice try with a lid... and the description touted that your ice would never taste stale again.  Uhhhh wut? What is stale ice?

-I think I've come to the decision that Buzzfeed, specifically, is just posting sponsored items.  This makes the stupidity make so much more sense.

-A new guy at work has called a few of the females "kiddo".  It is not going over well.  Some coworkers said we're making a bigger deal of it than it is.  I pointed out that they work on teams that are at least 90% women.  Someone else presented a not-hypothetical situation where she ran a meeting, then at the end new guy says, "Thanks, Kiddo."  How is that not demeaning?

Same dude incessantly clears his throat and I'm ready to throat punch him.  It makes me irrationally angry to hear it.

-We had a quiz in my Networks class on Tuesday that went soooo badly (despite it being open notes) that the professor FINALLY assigned some homework and announced we'd be having a make up quiz next week.  We need the grades, so I'm not sad about this.

-First test in my Sys Engineering class on Thurs.  Didn't fail.  Didn't make an A.  This is also the first test in any of my classes besides German.  Midterm is next week and I feel like I'm in a glorious time warp.  Granted, it may not be so glorious once I start getting grades back...  /shrug.

-It official, I'm going to Germany in May to study abroad!!!! I keep forgetting and then I remember and I squee a little bit.  I have to declare a German minor to apply for the scholarships, so I'm going to do that.  It will only require 2 more German classes, so it's not a problem.  It's not really a commitment I want to make, butttt for free money.. I'll sacrifice.  If I manage to get a scholarship, I will probably NOT take an online summer class for the GI Bill money.  We'll see what happens.  I really don't want to commit to taking an online class so I can actually ENJOY my time, instead of feeling pulled in a millionty directions (ya know, like my every day life).

-Got my hairs did, FINALLY.  And had a BUNCH chopped off.  More than I think I intended to, but once I have them start snipping, I get excited and forget that I spent a millionty years growing that mess out.  Sooo now I'll have to do some growing again.  At least I have a goal, lol.

-I bought 2 new sports bras because the ones I have are funky.. and I don't mean like "cold medina" kind of funky (you're welcome for that earwig).. I mean like, smell funky.. and I can't figure out how to make it go away.. so I purchased 2 new ones.  I wore one running this week and I GOT UNDER BOOB CHAFED.  I want to like these bras soo bad, since I can't find the ideal sports bra, but they poke me and now chafe me and it makes me disgruntled.

-The library has been coming through with my holds.. except she wasn't ready!  I've had to return several holds without even listening/reading because 1- I'm not through the previous book or 2- Teh PT Kid hasn't started the book yet (Harry Potter books).  It's a rough life, obviously.  I'm also starting to smell this same funk in my non-sports bras and I do NOT like it.

ZWEI - Money Shit

-Groceries/House stuff
-Woot shirts since they were B1G1
-Spotify
-Reusable chopsticks
-The Mental Load - which was free since I used a birthday gift card. (not an affiliate)
-Chickfila straw-colate milkshake (strawberry + chocolate)
-Hairs did.  Praise Allah, it was getting rough around here.
-More groceries
-Cookout strawberry milkshake with oreos
-Snack from Chickfila (tater tots and sweet tea)

DREI - From My Phone Shit

My sacrifice for the fish tank: A set of pantyhose.. so Teh German could put a shrimp in it.
Is this weird?  I think so, a little bit.

Strawcolate milkshake.

Kitchen Chemistry.

When the tortillas are expired, Pax and Meri get special treats.
Watching Pax figure out how to eat a tortilla was highly amusing.

Meri was way smarter about how to eat the tortilla.

New Woot shirts.
Woot!

Why he insisted on being between my legs for pets, I will never know.

I switched up the routine Thursday morning and walks happened before breakfast.
Pax had to wait on Meri and I to come back from a longer run..
He showed me how he felt about that.

#Truth

Why did the programmer quit their job?
They didn't get arrays.
(I found a plethora of nerd jokes and I cannot wait to share these.)

VIER - From the Internet Shit

Sometimes Buzzfeed sucks me in and I know it's all clickbait, but I can't help myself.  This article about things that will bother average people or whatever catch all title they used got me.. and those fingernails are the stuff of nightmares.  ALSO, how do you not notice your bird doing that?!

From a coworker who gets me.

Stole this one from Steph because I know too many people this applies to.

Just in case no one has told you this lately:
The mere fact that you keep choosing to show up every day after everything you have been through
only points to your strength. -MHN

Reminder.

FÜNF - Things that made me happy this week

  1. Happy hour at Sesame all week long, which means 1/2 off burgers, which actually makes them affordable.  We went on Thurs.
  2. GERMANY IN MAY!!!!!!
  3. It being the end of February and being close to Spring Break.  *infinite praise hands*
  4. Seeing Teh Running Bestie next weekend for the MB Half!  /Squeeeeeee.  Then I get to see her again in Pittsburgh for the Mumford & Sons concert a week and a half later.  Then she comes to CHS for the Bridge Run in April.
  5. Taking Meri on a long run.  It didn't really drain her batteries, but it was something different for both of us and she did soo good with taking direction about crossing streets (I say "cross" and she knows we're going to cross the street) and veering around poles and cars parked in the street/blocking the sidewalk.
  6. A semester of more relaxed classes.  The atmosphere of the class, not the work load.  The students and professor are more likely to embrace tangents and be silly instead of the professor just performing death by powerpoint on the class.  It makes this semester less bad that it could be.
  7. Open sunroof drives.  It's been Charleston "spring" outside.  The pine trees are also jizzing all over the place, so I mean.. bittersweet.  Good news, Teh German's "sickness" last weekend was just allergies.  I felt such relief when he told me there was a layer of yellow on his truck on Monday.
  8. Cadbury eggs.  IT IS TIME, PEOPLE!
  9. Hairs did.  Really.  I was feeling in a way about my hair mess.
  10. Staying home this weekend since it's raining, not snowing in the mountains.  That doesn't make for good snowboarding, soooo we're staying home and doing something together celebrate Teh German's birthday.  Hopefully, he'll figure out what in the near future?

Happy Friday, Gentle Readers.

Shit Teh German Said #29

http://www.canidecideanotherday.com/search/label/Shit%20Teh%20German%20Said

Discussing how we both have Stingrays hats.
tM: Look, we have matching hats!
tG: Yay.
tM: The family that hockeys together stays together or some shit.
tG: STICKS together.

Teh Running Bestie: Dammit, we have to get out of bed to turn the lights off.
tG: It's like 2017!

While playing Cards Against Humanity.
tM: Was that your card?  I knew I shouldn't have picked it.
tG: But I knew you would.

tM: It hurt me in my soul.
tG: Where?
tM: Shut up.

tG: It's like a Nemo bee.

tM: We don't need any "Nemo" fish.  (with a gimp fin)
tG: Hey!  We do rescue!

tM: Our birthdays are next month and I don't know what we're gonna do.
tG: I'll tell you what we're gonna do.  We're gonna get older.
tM: 🤦
(I meant what we were going to do to celebrate.)

tM: I have some bad news.
tG: Bad news with an e or an a?
tM: What? Like n-a-w-s?
tG: An e or an a.
tM: I'm so confused.
tG: Like b-a-d or b-e-d.
tM: Oooo I get iittttt!
*cackles*
tM: That was so bad that I didn't even get it, but you were so confident.

tG: I think I'm over-souped.
tM: Yeah, I'm sorry.  Thankfully, I didn't put the noodles in the soup.
tG: I used to eat noodles with ketchup.
tM: I know people that eat noodles with mustard.
tG: WTF?!
tM: You eat noodles with ketchup!
tG: It's tomato sauce!

Weekend Review {02/18}

FRIDAY

Gym before everything since I had a hair appointment at 2, then school and work.

We had essay day in German class, which I always go full-on overachiever for.  I realized this after I was the last one (not the indicator, tyvm), and I had to deliver all the essays to the professor.  I looked at my classmates' essays.  They took write 2-3 sentences about each chapter very literally.  I wrote at least 3 sentences per chapter, trying to capture the most significant parts of the chapter.  I don't know if my professor appreciates my efforts or dislikes that she has to spend so much extra time grading my papers, lol.

They blocked the walkway with this silk fencing and it makes me irrationally angry.

I finally used my KFC gift certificate for lunch.  A 3 piece meal with 2 sides and a drink was $9.85 or something, which was a perfect use of a $10 certificate.  Also, I'm confident there is MSG or crack or something in the original recipe thighs.  I can't explain it.

After work, I headed home since my hair appointment had been cancelled in the AM.  I was super pissed, that wasn't a joke on Friday about going through the stages of grief.  I've been wearing my hair up for over a week because it finally looks bad to me, which is usually about 1 month after everyone else has noticed that my hair is lookin pretty haggard.  Teh German skipped the gym because he wasn't feeling well (again, ugh).

We had a quiet evening watching The Office until bedtime.

SATURDAY

Saturday morning, Teh German set a stupid early alarm since he was leaving at 0800 for the Beer Festival in Columbia.  He likes to have a "slow" start.. except that at 0715, he came upstairs to get ready.  I rolled myself out a bed a few minutes before thinking maybe we could walk the dogs or do something together before he left, butttttt I had assumed wrong in thinking that he'd already showered/etc.  Sooo instead, Teh German showered and packed and I went downstairs and puttered around until he left.

When Teh German left, I started working on homework.  I had some productive struggle with my Systems Engineering homework (aka Circuits 2, it's been bothering me that I didn't know the actual name of my class).  I also caught up on my Networks notes that I hadn't taken on Thursday because the professor was going too fast.  It was a good review.  Then I started on German.  After finishing at least the HW that was due on Monday, I decided it was time to head out and get lunch since I was starving.

The problem was, I had decision paralysis because Teh German was gone.  Usually we bounce ideas off each other until we come to a decision.  Without him, I could go anywhere and that was too much pressure.  I ended up going to Jim and Nick's since it was by Sam's and that's where I needed to go.  We needed a few items and I needed gas.  I also had to go to Walmart, which I also suffered through.  On my way home, I got stuck in the car wash... so close to the end...  It was only for a minute, but still.  I'd already sat behind some moron who was trying to scan their membership receipt to get through the gate.  It wasn't working because they hadn't gotten their windshield sticker before they left when they'd purchased the membership.  No less than 6 other cars went in front of us, despite being in the member lane because of this person.

When I got home, I put everything away, then started up again on German homework.  I also messaged Teh NY Chef since she was at Teh PT House.  I asked if Meri and Pax could come and play with Max and Marcy.  She said yes, so I brought the beasts over and learned that Pax has a frisbee addiction.  If I hadn't stopped throwing the frisbee, Pax probably would have killed himself chasing it.

Meri was not as entertained.  She patrolled the perimeter, but didn't really play much.

Eventually, I packed up the dogs and took them home for dinner time.  After the beasts were fed, Teh NY Chef and I went to pick up Teh PT Kid, then we went to Codfather for dinner.

There was a wide variety of music playing and one of the songs that played was Summer Lovin' from Grease... which I know all the words to thanks to Teh Sister who watched Grease over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over...  This was to the detriment of Teh PT Kid, who does NOT appreciate my singing in public, which he made the mistake of expressing to me.  I hadn't been singing in my falsetto opera voice or even doing anything silly, just singing along to the song.  BUTTTTT THENNNNNNNN.... the end of the song came and I leaned over and softly sang the last line in his ear... "Those summmmmmmmeeeeeeerrrrrrrr....." and then I moved away because I knew what was going to happen... and finished off the song with those really annoying last notes, "NNNNIIIIIIIIIIIIIHHHHHHIIIIIIIIIIGHTS."  I confident if Teh PT Kid didn't have his tablet in his hand, he would have slid out of the bench and just sat on the floor under the table.  I hadn't noticed while I'd been singing through the song, but the table next to us had noticed I was singing and they definitely saw the grand finale and they cracked up... which only made Teh PT Kid more despondent.

Because we were nearby, Teh PT Kid kept asking about the rickety train bridge in Park Circle and if we could go by it.  I did one better.  I planned for us to go under it.  This plan was cemented into being when we came outside and the train had just started going by, towards the direction of the rickety bridge.  When we went under the rickety bridge as the train was going overhead, Teh NY Chef and Teh PT Kid were having outbursts about how creepy and narrow and OMG we might die, all the while, I'm giggling.

I did tell Teh PT Kid about that one time I chased Teh MD Teenage Roomie around Kohl's wearing a 42DDD bra over my clothes.. so he didn't have it THAT bad.. yet.  I also reminded him that when we met I'd promised him that I'd embarrass him at least once.  He said that I definitely did that.  I then explained that I like to set low goals so when I do succeed, I REALLY succeed, so embarrassing him more than once was ideal.

Once we finally got home, I hit the couch for some Grace & Frankie.  Before I started binge watching, I skyped with Teh German, but the connection was shit because he wasn't on wifi, so mostly I watched his inebriated self get ready for bed.

Despite how many time I've told him, Teh German still uses his teeth as tools.

Once our chat ended, I hit play.  I ended up shutting off the TV at 12:34 and heading to bed.

SUNDAY

Sunday, Meri didn't feel that I should get to sleep in.  By 0830, she was up on the bed, "snuggling" with me but flopping on me with as much force as possible.  Subtlety is not her specialty.  I think she gets it from her Mom.  I got up around 0930 and fed the beasts and went back upstairs to shower and get ready.  Teh NY Chef and I had agreed to go to brunch after dropping off Teh PT Kid at his Animal Society activities.  We left at 1145, so while I waited, I accomplished more German homework.

Pax wanted to make sure my pillows didn't feel lonely.

We went to Holy City Brewing for brunch.  That makes my 3rd visit in 7 days.  And I don't drink beer.  As I said, last week was weird.

Chicken and waffles.  Not as good as the chicken with the pretzel.

After brunch, we headed back home.  The Beer Fest attendees were home.  Teh German was surprisingly not hung over, so he was perky and working on fish tank things.

I could have done more homework to get ahead on my German to not have to worry about it, but instead, I plopped down on the couch and watched a bit of Grace & Frankie, until I made the decision to switch to The Office since Teh German was also watching.

The rest of the evening consisted to watching TV and Meri attaching herself to me as a bodily extension.

By the end of the night, the tank was full of water.  The sediment needs to settle, but we no longer have an empty tank sitting in the living room!

Then it was bedtime.

______________________________________________

Overall, a much needed Megan weekend.  It was relaxed and I got shit done and other than dealing with morons on Saturday while shopping, the rest of the socialization was enjoyable.  I also revel in embarrassing pre-teens/teenagers, and I got a good one in this weekend.  #SelfFive

Despite my lack of involvement, I am glad the tank finally has water in it.  There was something this morning about pantyhose and shrimp and I donated a set of pantyhose to Teh German so the tank can grow bacteria?  I don't know all of the exact details, but I do generally try to be supportive.  Soooo when I located the pantyhose to be sacrificed, I tossed them down the stairs and said, "Here's your pantyhose.  Now you can rob a convenience store."

This week holds:

Teh German and I are in discussions about how to celebrate his birthday.  I finally pointed out to him that his bday is in the middle of the week and if he wants to celebrate with friends, he needs to do it this coming weekend since I'm out of town the first weekend in March (aka the weekend after his bday) for the Myrtle Beach half marathon.  I also made sure to call him out on the fact that he always becomes King of the Dickheads the entire day prior to people coming over, so if he was going to act like that to me beforehand, we didn't need to worry about it.  I also reminded him that he needs to plan this stuff out by Wednesday because I do not feel like putting out the fires on Friday/Saturday because that's inevitably what ends up happening most of the time.

Just call me the Speaker of Harsh Truths.  #NotSorry

We're almost through February and I'm not sad about it.  Even if it is birthday month.
