1 May: Autobiography

Day 1, Wednesday: The story of your life in 250 words or less (or one paragraph... no one will be counting your words... probably)

I'm not actually sure I could tell the story of my life in one paragraph... I'm way too wordy for that.

Let's get started.
Teh Megan and Teh (Baby) Sister
I born on a Monday. Almost 2 weeks after my due date. My due date was the day the Space Shuttle Challenger exploded. Being born on a Monday is better than being born on day that popular people died. Go me. Teh Mom probably wasn't pleased.

I am the oldest child of 2. Teh Sister and I didn’t get along till after we no longer lived together. Now we even like each other.

I was a tomboy growing up. When I wasn’t in school, I was outside playing with my cousins. I was constatntly covered in mosquito bites or scratches from branches and briars and probably dirt. My clothes rarely matched when we’d go out in public unless Teh Mom picked out my clothes. I had a pair of neon pink and neon green socks. They were my favorites and I wore them as often as I could. I would often sneak at night and read books under the covers with light up objects (a lamp and a tv) from my doll house. Teh Mom knew… maybe because of all the batteries I went through and how little I played with that doll house?

School wasn’t bad to me, but it wasn’t really great to me either. I survived and once I got into the AG (academically gifted) group/class, things changed a lot. The work was harder, but there were perks (trips, people, honors classes in high school, etc).

I was usually the last one picked for PE teams (and definitely didn't make the cheerleading team) but one of the first ones picked for group projects in all other classes. I never learned NOT to carry the whole group until college. My favorites were my 1st grade, 3rd grade, AG, and high school English teachers.

Teh BFF, ZepZep, Teh Megan
I met Teh BFF my junior year of high school. This made a huge difference in my life and things were never the same again.

I was never given the option NOT to go to college, so my senior year of high school was spent applying for scholarships that I didn’t get and getting into NC State (the only school I’d applied to because Teh Ex-FiancĂ© had a friend in Raleigh he would live with and it was far enough away from home, home). I survived college and realized in my last year that everything would have been much different without Teh Ex-FiancĂ© in the picture.. and much more fun.

Teh WWJL, Teh Megan
I met Teh Worldwide Jesus Lover (WWJL) my freshman year of college. Things were never the same after that.

After graduating college and not finding a job (mostly due to lack of guidance and ill job hunting skills and impatience), I joined the Navy. This decision was the craziest, most unpredicted thing I’d done in my entire life. This decision made the biggest difference in who I am, who I know, and what I will do with the rest of my life.

I met Teh Bear in GTMO. I didn’t know that he’d be one of the biggest parts of my life within the next 2 years.
Lub.

In 1.5 years, I’ll have another crazy life change as I leave the military. I’m excited to see what that brings to my autobiography.

(PS, that was 535 words)

  1. So my due date was Valentine's Day. My mom went in to labor with me the day the Challenger exploded. She says it was from being so upset over the incident. Then after 33 hours in the hospital in "official" labor, I was born at 3:33pm on January 30!

  2. I just found your blog from the Story of My Life page. It's funny how much I like reading other people's shortened life stories. I think boyfriends have no place until college or later, but I never could have convinced my teenage self of that. I like this post though, and I'll probably be a regular. :)

  3. D'aw, cute story! You're doing so so much better at your blog than me. I've completely given up on linkups.
